The location is absolutely perfect, situated between Gedimino prospektas and Pilies gatvė with a nice view of the cathedral.||||Despite both of us having Hilton gold status, we were upgraded only to a larger room on a low floor, not to a suite or even with a cathedral view. Although we didn't expect to be upgraded to Joe Biden's presidential suite, we hoped for something more impressive than our large room.||||The bed was very soft to sit on the edge of, but was surprisingly comfortable when body weight was spread more evenly while lying down. There are power sockets on each side of the bed.||||Bars of soap and flannels were helpfully provided. The shower door didn't hold in the water properly with the result that water spread across the bathroom floor. This is a bad design.||||The hotel clearly hasn't been refurbished since it transitioned from Kempinski to Hilton/Curio, but no refurbishment is needed yet. Although the dark wood in the rooms isn't the latest fashion, it looks and feels fine.||||We stayed in mid-September, when the temperature was neither cold nor hot, so we couldn't assess the effectiveness of the heating or air conditioning.||||The wifi speed was around 50Mbps upstream and downstream. Although this is adequate, I would expect much higher at a 5-star hotel in the capital city of a modern country like Lithuania. In contrast, even a small guest house in Palanga had around 500Mbps as long ago as 2018.||||I was delighted that the first channel on the television was BBC World, but disappointingly it was in very pixelated quality, not in its original broadcast HD quality, which ought to be fixed. Plenty of other channels were available, including Lithuanian channels in HD. The sound from the television comes through on speakers in the bathroom, which is an unusual but nice feature.||||Service at breakfast was very 5-star, with very attentive and professional service, particularly on the first day. However, the food and drink offering is noticeably lacking compared to the Hilton Garden Inn, which is managed by the same Lithuanian company Apex Alliance Hotel Management. There was no tomato juice on offer, only on request for which staff initially proposed to charge me until I referred to their offering at their sister hotel. I was served French tomato juice from tiny bottles. The hotel ought to have sourced better options such as very tasty Cido tomato juice from neighbouring Latvia, and decant it into a jug for self-service. Two features were better than the Hilton Garden Inn. The first was the sausages, which despite their unappetising grey colour, were pork and very tasty. The second was the on-demand ordering from a menu at the table; the Belgian waffles were excellent.||||We were given late check-out only until 13:00 instead of our desired 14:30 departure time, because the hotel hadn't bothered to ascertain the arrival time of subsequent guests.||||Next time I hope to give rating of 5 out of 5.
