Grand Hôtel La Cloche (Dijon, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Grand Hôtel La Cloche is, from the outside, an absolutely spectacular Belle Époque edifice, dating back to the 1880s. Which makes it all the more surprising that its interiors should be as unmistakably modern as they are. There are hints of Art Deco and high Modernism but the overall impression is that of a luxury hotel that’s as stylish as many a boutique hotel, and comes with a historical depth that they can’t match — for two examples, take the restaurant, Les Jardins, with its antique glass wall, and the spa, set in the building’s old vaulted cellars." - Tablet Hotels

As others have mentioned, the location is adjacent to the tram line, a 7-minute walk from the train station, across the street from a nice park, and it sits on the edge of the historic UNESCO city center. Be advised however, if you wonder off in the "wrong" direction, the area can get sketchy fast. After traveling most of the day and walking up from the train station, a little help with luggage during arrival going up the stairs at the front entrance would have been appreciated but was never offered till we were inside. Our Deluxe room was spacious and very nice. We did not use the services this 5-star Grand Dame hotel offers, but it did serve as a great base for exploring Dijon's historic city center and touring wine country to the north.

This splendid hotel is everything you'd want for your French village experience. Perfect location to walk everywhere or take the tram. Well appointed, attractive modern rooms & artwork, juxtaposed with the historic building blends beautifully. We felt rescued when we entered the reception area, as the VRBO we planned on was filthy, very moldy and uninhabitable for us. It was my good fortune to have this fantastic attraction available for my 65th birthday, to be our home base whilst exploring Dijon, surrounding vineyards & cuisine. We look forward to returning!

The hotel is beautiful with such charm and very well located. We didn’t choose this hotel it is part of a group tour with a Viking Cruises. |The rooms are big but a bit dated. Also they put us on first floor in front facing street.. it’s so noisy we hear the train pass all day and night lots of honking so not much sleep for us..also the moment we arrived we were missing towels and kept asking without any results. When we did get them it wasn’t enough. One bath towel for me and my husband to share. Then the next day our water was not replenished, . Not a huge issue but when you are out all day and need to have some water when you get back it really can be. So the service is just ok. We speak French and they still had a hard time understanding us. Hotel great, service not so much. We still have one more day so hope it doesn’t get worse.

Rooms very small. Brown shag carpeting did not look clean. Furniture very dated. Did not look like room had been dusted. Glad this is a one night stay. The Normandy hotels were far superior & luxurious compared to this. Not sure why Amex Travel has this hotel on their hotel list.

Perfect stay! Central location, spotless and spacious rooms with décor that felt brand new, and wonderfully quiet. The pool is a great bonus. Staff were outstanding—our toiletry request and ironing table arrived instantly. Couldn’t ask for better service. Highly recommend.

Excellent couple of nights. Things to note: I was dismayed to get a room on the first floor with a fairly busy road outside - BUT there was no noise at all with two sets of doors and one was double glazed, I was also dismayed to get a room opposite the lift exit - but again the lift has a clever inner double door and again there was no noise. Room was quiet, with a comfortable bed - and clean. |Breakfast was good with an excellent range in the buffet. |The hotel does not however make it easy for electric cars! They have two chargers that they do not allow you to ‘book’ so we had to charge before arriving in Dijon. Then - of course - I see the first night there is no one using the chargers at all. The second night there was just one car there. Parking is tough in ‘their’ car park - may well be best to use their valet parking (I did not) - as the parking slots are very very tight. A huge improvement would be to allow EV charging to be booked overnight…?|Apart from the challenge with EV parking - lovely hotel.

Another lovely stay at La Cloche. The location is perfect for exploring Dijon, and we appreciate the very attentive staff. Our only negative is that the breakfast seems very expensive. However, highly recommended as a great place to stay.

This is a lovely modern hotel in a traditional sandstone building. |We drove to Dijon and were met at the door by a very friendly and helpful doorman. He took our luggage to the room and valet parked our car.| The decor is contemporary with a focus on red. The room was quite large and had a window looking out to the street, which is a lovely view. As you walk into the room, to one side is a large walk-in robe with plenty of room for suitcases. On the other side of a modern bathroom with a window into the main room; there is a curtain which provides.|The location is excellent with the main shopping area just around the corner and there was easy walking to the ducal palaces and downtown.

Yelp
We had a fabulous stay here. The staff, the facility, and the rooms were all great. Where it really matters in a smaller sized town, the front desk staff was there to open up the dirt to you through restaurant, recommendations, which were very good, and taxi services. Our room was well appointed with goof furniture, and a very nice bathroom which made the living space more open; remember in France, often times the WC is in a separate room from the shower. There was a lovely restaurant, witch very attentive staff, and good food Room service was quick, and friendly.

Yelp
Great location, good restaurant and friendly informative staff. Stayed here for a few days. If you have a room facing the park across the street you are greeted in the morning with a nice sunrise view. The room was clean and spacious. Restaurant served various breakfast both local and regional. Dinner here with the atrium view was pleasant and enjoyable. Parking is convenient and safe. Would stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling in the area.

Yelp
For the staff of La Cloche I would rate as 5 stars. I knock one star off for the room. While fairly comfortable I did find that it lacked air circulation. Just one vent for the room was not quite sufficient in keeping the room cool, especially after two showers are taken. We were on the top floor and this may be unique to the room we had. Great location - just a 5 minute walk from the train station and from the hotel all of downtown Dijon is an easy walk.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and the location is perfect! The room included a king size bed and had a wonderful view of Dijon. We were lucky in that it was a cool early Fall weekend so it wasn't too warm but in the heat of summer the rooms may get warm as there is no air conditioning. The rate we found on Expedia was a great deal and the continental breakfast was DELICIOUS. Amazing full French breakfast unlike anything we've experienced before!
