Just had a recent stay at this property, and to be honest it was a memorable experience. I absolutely loved the classic historical charm of the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, and furnished with luxurious, high end amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every detail from linen to lighting reflected true fivestar quality. Housekeeping and service teams were attentive and responsive, and both the front desk and concierge were genuinely helpful. A special thanks to Paolo from Reservations for arranging the rooms exactly as I requested it simply felt like home. The location is unbeatable, just a 2 minute walk from Bologna’s old town, surrounded by shops, cafes, and the city's cultural heart. If there’s anything to improve, I’d suggest adding a kids club, expanding the gym, and perhaps a swimming pool to complete the luxury experience. Overall, highly recommended for anyone visiting Bologna.

The ambience, style and warmth of this hotel is off the scale. The staff were super helpful - from the cleaning staff to reception to concierge and so it goes on. The hotel itself is elegant and so comfortable, and even with major works in the street, it was peaceful and easy to access. The beds are super comfortable, the breakfast and bar services are great and of course the huge benefit of being right in the old city of Bologna! highly recommend it as a great place to stay.

I love the hotel and the service was excellent. The construction out front on the rail was a little disruptive, but overall did not spoil our stay. I definitely will stay there again. The breakfast was my favorite all the homemade breads and croissants. We also had dinner at the Michelin star restaurant in the hotel. The chef is amazing. John my husband really enjoyed the wine pairing with the meal. It was a beautiful Hotel. Very elegant with beautiful art. I wonder if the chandelier in my room was from Murano glass. The linen sheets were special.

We just returned from touring Northern Italy and this was truly a magnificent 5 star hotel. Completely luxurious and well located. The only enhancements I would add would be to improve on the flower arrangement in the lobby. A hotel of this stature requires more in the entrance. It's meaningful to those who love flowers and elegance. As well, the choice of music playing in the lobby is a little off putting and loud especially in the mornings when travellers are tired. This hotel has much more grandeur than to be playing modern vocals. These are my quirks but other than this I did notice the many extra beautiful details....A lovely place for sure.

The Grand majestic is a wonderful hotel . I agree with another reviewer and apologies for pinching her words but they are so right, it is a place steeped in beauty, history, elegance, culture. A palace full of works of art, and the rooms are so beautifully appointed and conformable, every thing is of the highest standard of luxury and elegance. The director, Tiberio Biondi and his staff are so very friendly and look after you so well. It is a marvel right in the heart of beautiful Bologna, walking distance to all the main attractions. We will be back

Magnificent stay at the Grand Hotel Majestic in Bologna. The hotel is in the heart of shopping in Bologna and so close to the square with Neptune's statue where there was live music at night. The lobby, restaurant and rooms were beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were welcomed with chocolates and a small bottle of their signature cocktail. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a seven night stay at this hotel in June. We explored Bologna for two days (and in the evenings) and then explored the rest of the region (Ravenna, Padova, Parma, Modena, San Marino, Verona, Ferrara, and even Milan). I booked a room that was large enough to accommodate an extra bed for our daughter. We did not use the spa, gym, or fine dining during the stay.||There is a lot of construction going on in front of the hotel right now as the city installs tram lines. You cannot be dropped off at the front of the hotel and, instead, are dropped off or picked up at the back entrance by the bar. This really wasn't a big problem, but it does make it difficult for cabs and arranged cars due to the very small street at the back, and because it currently dead ends into the blocked off under-construction street. Getting a cab ad hoc is difficult because there is no traffic at either entrance. The construction creates a lot of noise. However, this seems to be done during the day time hours and was only a slight problem for us one day when we needed to let our daughter sleep in because she had a cold. ||One final thought on the construction. I would be concerned with the noise and rumbling of the trams once they are completed. In Prague at the Andaz, a tram goes by the hotel and we were very much aware of them on one of our stays. At the (former) Ritz in Budapest, the subway goes under the hotel and the noise and rumbling could be heard and felt on the first floor of that hotel. Maybe it won't be a problem here; I'd look for feedback when it is done to find out.||We had breakfast each morning in the lower level breakfast area. Breakfast was included in our rate. It was a large spread of eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, fruits and some hot Asian items. Juices and coffees were included. I think, but am not sure, if you could order cook to order eggs or other items off the menu. There was a menu, but I personally found it confusing as regards what was extra and what was included. I never asked, and no one ever explained it. It was filling and a great way to start our day.||We would go to the bar almost every day for a Spritz or wine. We ate two meals there as well. My wife and I split the club one night, and on another night we ordered pasta. The food and service were great each time in the bar. It can get a little crowded, but we never had a problem finding a seat.||This is one of those hotels were you leave the key at the front desk when you leave the building. I really like that, mostly because it feels elegant.||I used the business center (one computer) to print boarding passes and museum tickets. It was easy and always accessible.||The room was very nice. The room type was a Grand Deluxe Double room, with the beds made into a king bed. There was a decorative / unusable (and it was June) fireplace. The extra bed fit very comfortably and didn't make the room feel cramped. There was a desk, two night stands, small couch, and coffee table. There were plenty of outlets available, and two next to the bed has USB (not type C) ports for charging. The bathroom was an L shape. Walking in, there was a walk in closet to the right, two sinks right in front of you, then to the other part of the L was the large tub, (cramped) shower, and toilet/bidet. We used the safe in the closet and there were plenty of hangers. As you enter the room itself, there was a small hallway which could be blocked off with another door in the room proper.||I arranged for a car through the hotel for our trip to San Marino. It was likely more than I would have paid if I had booked it myself, but I liked knowing the hotel had a relationship with the driver/company.||We ordered room service once for my daughter. She said the pasta was great. We also requested buckets of ice, and they were promptly delivered.||I don't know if this is the 'nicest' hotel in Bologna. The location is superb, and it has to be one of if not the nicest. Our original booking was at the AC Marriott. Granted, it would have been less expensive, but the location seemed to be such that we would be taking cabs to get to the heart of the city. We did take a cab from this hotel to the train station a couple of times, but usually ended up walking. The walk would take 15 to 20 minutes, which isn't much more than a cab would take when there was traffic.||I'd absolutely stay here again if we were to return.

The service at this hotel was amazing. Our train was cancelled and they honored my late checkout after returning from the station. The property is beautiful. Breakfast was a lovely spread, the restaurant was beautiful and made perfect cocktails. Such a treat to stay here!

Yelp
The power keeps shutting off. The heat cannot be turned off and I had to take multiple cold showers to cool down overnight (in November!). Due to poor air quality in Bologna, leaving windows open to cool down is not enjoyable (obv not hotel's fault). A stranger identified my room as theirs and they were let into the room while I slept. This is unforgivable. I wish the rooms had chain llocks on doors. Mold growing on hand shower wand. I thought spinach was coming out of my mouth, but no it is mold dropping off the hand shower. Hotel itself is clean and quirky in an old world way. Everyone working here is so kind and helpful, and I know they felt bad for letting someone into my room. Hey, mistakes happen and this is an old building, but letting a stranger into my room is terrifying. Finally, there were two of us in our suite, but every night only one chocolate on the bed!

Yelp
We were woken up by house keeping letting a stranger into our room at 9:30am. After the sleepless night, 2 power outages to the room, the heat turning on max remotely several times throughout the night, and then meeting a strange woman in my room while I'm just in boxers, it was a bad start to the stay here!! . Overall the stay improved but the first 24 hours sucked here... +Excellent location, minutes away from central square, across the street from a good grocery store, and dozens of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. Very walkable city location. +Room is quaint/historical. Many celebrities have stayed here decades ago, which is kind of fun to see their photos in the lobby bar. - Our room lost power twice the first day. - maid service let a stranger enter our room at 9:30am. Was a startling way to wake up... - Uncomfortably warm / No A/C / electrical issues -- you can see reviews going back 10-11 years about the A/C being out for repair. - some black mold in the shower on the shower wand crevasses; reminded me of gunk that might build up in a p-trap under your sink. I cleaned it for them with some hot water and hand towels. - Breakfast buffet wasn't good. Skip the buffet and get 0,85€ croissants across the street - they'll be fresh and sooo much better than the stale stuff in the buffet. Overall I ***love*** Bologna ***so much*** and this location is great, but we were uncomfortable here. We'll be back, but to a different hotel.

Yelp
Recently stayed 4 nights at Grand Hotel Majestic GB and it was the most perfect experience. All the staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive. The hotel is so beautiful and charming, you feel like you are royalty from another century. Our room was spacious and comfortable, beautifully decorated. The breakfast has everything you want and more. The restaurant I Carracci was one of the best meals we had. The location is perfect, close to everything. If you want to treat yourself stay here!!

Yelp
Great 5 night stay in June. Excellent Bologna location, just a minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. Very attentive and helpful staff, good buffet breakfast, comfortable bed, walk in rain shower and great on site restaurant (one of the best veal chops I've ever had). Finely appointed common areas and I enjoyed the touch of the exposed ancient Roman road.

Yelp
We spent two nights here in July during a longer trip in Italy. The location is spectacular right in the middle of the city and it is certainly the nicest hotel in Bologna. The service in the hotel was great. Our room was very large and grand but the spaces could use some updating. Serviceable gym. Breakfast was fine but not great. Again, this is your best option while in Bologna and it's a total experience but it's not what I would consider a 5 star hotel.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel right in city center. Walking distance to everything you could want. I had dinner in the restaurant, which I reviewed separately. I was in Bologna to celebrate my granddaughters graduation from the university of Bologna in maths. This is the place to stay in my opinion

Yelp
Two stars because it is a nice hotel with comfortable beds. Thats about it. It is certainly not a five star hotel, which it purports to be. We arrived around 8pm and advised reception that we needed to leave for the airport at five am. At some point reception advises that the booking was for one person and they had to charge us for the second. I have never heard of this! So for the extra person for our 8 hour stay, they wanted €100! What the hell for? I looked on a booking sight and showed the receptionist that I could still book a room (which would come with a free bottle of wine) for two people for exactly what I paid. Receptionist kept saying that it would be more if i booked through the hotel. Lets follow the logic here. Why would i book directly through the hotel if the same room is less on a booking sight? The most irritating part is that she kept laughing inappropriately for some unknown reason. The male receptionist kept insisting that the € 100 was for the "free" hot breakfast. We reminded him that we had to leave before breakfast was served. He assured us that there would be a cart full of food in the morning before we left. Long story short, that did not happen. There was a cart with coffee and a few pastries. But wait, there's more! The man at the reception in the morning told us that if we had asked, they would have made us breakfast. That would have been nice if it was ever suggested by reception at check in! A real five star hotel would have just taken the initiative to prepare the bagged breakfast for us given the conversation had the night before. I also enjoyed how the staff talked down to us insisting that a €100 per person euro fee is totally normal. Because I've never stayed in a hotel before! Thats sarcasm btw. Again, this certainly was not a five star experience. And just to compare apples to apples, we stayed at a four star hotel when we arrived in bologna 10 days earlier. It was 1/5 the cost, the staff much more accommodating and was just as comfortable and nice. So do yourself a favor and ignore the alleged five star rating and save your money and nerves by staying anywhere else.

Yelp
Rating explanation: the air conditioning malfunctioned in our room both nights. The hotel failed to adequately inform guests of the problem affecting the entire hotel. We only learned about the severity of the problem at 3am when my wife and I had enough of the sweltering humidity and abandoned opening the window because we already had been bitten by Mosquitos. There were several irate guests who asked the reception desk "why am I only being told this now, while I am checking out!" The hotel made no effort to refund or compensate the sleep deprived guests. My wife and I spent more than EUR300 per night and we slept 2 hours per night in total,15 minutes at a time. The bedding was luxurious and very comfortable; however, our bed was 2 twins mashed together with no dividing pad. Pillows and sheets were great but not good enough to compensate for the AC fiasco! This hotel gets 2 stars because the location is great and the breakfast is free and plentiful. I will never stay here again. I paid extra so my wife and could sleep well and in comfort. The AC situation was mismanaged and WE PAID THE PRICE!

Yelp
Pretty decent hotel bar although could do with a bit of an update. Drinks were well made and in terms of London pricing, given it was a 5 star hotel, the drink prices were very decent.
