Great experience! We arrived really early so they stored our luggage.| I've been to Paris four times so I expected a tiny room.| We booked a standard room with a balcony and it was a really good size with room to walk around and a good sized bathroom.|The walkin shower was large with good water pressure.|The hotel is located in the great Marais area with loads of amenities, cafes, ect. nearby but not in the crazy busy part.|The St.Paul Metro was around the corner as was a taxi stand.Surprisingly, when I tried Uber it was always in the 19 Euro range so I found the taxis cheaper.|The staff at the 24 hour front desk were super helpful with suggestions, especially on where to go where the locals go.|If you haven't been to Paris in the June to September range before, it is most important to get an air conditioned hotel room as temperatures can be oppressive and many hotels are not temperature controlled. The air conditioning was perfect and easy to control.|I highly recommend staying here and it is my go-to hotel when I return.

Pros & Cons: The pros- Truly amazing location. Fantastic area including a “locals vibe.” Less than 2 min walk to metro and two grocery stores and lots of food! Room was a good size (esp. for Paris) and bathroom nicely updated. Bed was comfortable. |The Cons: no outlet in the bathroom!! Ridiculous. I even confirmed with housekeeper. Also, not even ONE drawer in the room! You read right- not even a drawer. Only one shelf that was blacked by my hanging clothes above it so I lived out of my suitcase. Not the way to settle in and get organized. How about getting night tables with drawers?? Simple solution. Street view: good light and windows. Yes, some noise in the morning with trash pick up and sirens and cafe outside at night. But that can be a given anywhere. I used white noise, though others may prefer a courtyard room. |And last- the mini fridge did not work at all. They did replace it on day #3, but by then it was half of my trip and I have certain things that needed to be refrigerated. I specifically even emailed them one week before arriving confirming about the mini fridge and chose this hotel, in part, for this feature. Not fair to the customer. Two stars for the cons but I generously gave four stars overall.

Friendly staff, great location, clean rooms, & reasonably priced. I would absolutely stay here again. Plenty of restaurants nearby and several convenient metro stops. If you want to stay in Marais, this place is great.

On arrival, I was informed that there was a problem with my room and I had been booked another room in a different hotel down the road, at least in walking distance. No apologies. I was charged the same amount for a much smaller room and a single bed instead of double bed. When I complained about this I was told there was nothing they could do. My room was literally not much bigger than the single bed itself. A massive rip off. Ironically, Grand Hotel Malher just sent me an email saying they hope I enjoyed my stay and asking me to complete a survey.

The hotel cancelled our 8 day, prepaid reservation without notice or apology. They blamed Expedia, saying that Expedia refused to release our credit card details 2 days early which was a "known requirement" since our stay was more than 6 days. Expedia did not cancel the reservation. It was active when I arrived. We spent two hours on the phone with Expedia in the lobby trying to locate another hotel room (99% sold out), which eventually they did. My impression is the Hotel Manager didn't like the response (or lack of response) he got from Expedia and just decided to cancel the reservation, blaming it on a phone conversation he had with them. In the end, it put a real damper on our 20th anniversary stay in Paris, as we were 30 mins out of the city center. Based on our experience and a few of the other reviews I have read, I would be wary of booking this hotel.

Great location, with much to explore right from the doorstep, and it's also just a few minutes from a very useful metro line. Hotel wise it ticks all my boxes. Comfortable bed. Well thought out and flexible lighting in the room. Spacious modern bathroom. Characterful: classic full height Parisian windows with decorative railings. Mod cons. Mini-fridge. Working WiFi. I benefitted from a good deal on breakfast, which had a decent selection of options, including scrambled eggs. Polite and friendly staff. Good price for the neighborhood, Recommended!

Perfect hotel in perfect location for 3 day break in Paris! We stayed in December and it was perfect. Our room had a street view which was lovely as it is a quiet street! Bed massive and super comfy. Staff great and spoke English although we speak french. Great location for walks and transport links. Fab for running and exploring. Can't wait to go back 😁. Top Tip, visit Notre Dame at night it's just a short walk!

Had a great experience at Le Grand Hotel Malher! When we arrived it was too early to check in, but the staff was super accommodating and friendly, switching back and forth from French to English as my French failed me at times. Staff was always willing to answer questions and give advice on transportation, restaurants, whatever. The room was a little small by American standards, but very comfortable, nonetheless. Could have done with a little more storage space, but overall we were extremely pleased with the room. In addition, the cleaning staff was very friendly and took good care of our room. Le Marais is full of wonderful restaurants and shops so it is a wonderful location, plus the hotel is located about 3 minutes walk to a Metro station so it was easy to get anywhere in the city. Would definitely recommend Le Grand Hotel Malher when staying in Paris.

Yelp
This hotel charged me for a service it did not provide. Travelers to France beware. My wife and I had reserved a room at a nearby hotel for six nights beginning September 14. The room/hotel proved to be undesirable when we saw it in person, and we walked into the Grand Hotel Malher (GHM) to inquire about a room. GHM had no room available for us the night of September 14, but the GHM clerk said there were possible rooms for us beginning September 15. It was late and we needed a place to stay. The GHM clerk charged my credit card 350 euros at 9:06 p.m. on September 14 after insisting that I needed to pay in advance to reserve a room beginning September 15. I'd asked him not to charge my card yet because GHM had no room available for us that night, September 14, and because my wife was in the process of trying to secure a room for us at another hotel (via her mobile phone). My wife secured a room at another hotel and I let the GHM clerk know that we were no longer in need of a room at GHM. However, the clerk had just charged my credit card for the night of September 15. He consulted with a woman associate who said they would need a manager's authorization to refund the 350 euros charged to my credit card. They asked and I confirmed with strong assurances that my wife and I had no need for a room at GHM. The entire process took maybe 15 minutes. We would have considered staying at GH Mahler if we'd not been able to secure a room at another hotel for our entire stay. But there were other indications that perhaps GHM was not the best place to stay: vomit in the elevator; another guest's malfunctioning room card; the GHM clerk telling us that a double room would be available and then telling us that it wouldn't be available and that only a more expensive triple room was available. The GHM clerk seemed like a very nice person and our experience with GHM would have been pleasant if not for their refusal to refund the 350 euros which, under the circumstances, would be the reasonable and sensible thing to do.

Yelp
Excellent location and value for this hotel. Quiet, clean, and basic rooms. Less than 5 min walk from the train station makes it very convenient. Also close to all the action, yet surprisingly quiet. The reception staff are the nicest and gave us good tips on where the locals prefer to eat and how we should manage our day trip transport to Bruges and back. I would 100% stay here again.

Yelp
We unfortunately didn't end up staying here because there was a death in the family, so our trip got cancelled. In the midst of things, I was not able to cancel the hotel booking and got charged the no show fee (price of first night). That's fair. But they charged us 2 nights. And when I e-mailed them asking why it was 2 nights, they said it was because they thought I was delayed coming in and they held the room for 2 nights. Policy states no-show gets charged the first night, but they were charging me 2 nights?! PLUS, they never even reached out to me to ask what the situation was, if I was delayed etc etc. I've stayed here before, but now never again. I won't put my card at the risk of employees who feel welcome to a charging spree - justify it & does not follow policy. I had to email them 2 times to follow up to rescind the second night's charge. NEVER AGAIN.

Yelp
Everything was excellent. While I am not handicapped, I did enjoy the handicap room on the ground level next to the beautiful banana trees in the courtyard. Like others, I can't really find anything wrong with this place. Truly everything was excellent. My only complaint was that checkout is early. I thought noon was standard. Here it is 11 am and a late checkout is 11:30 am. Oh well! Looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
The hotel stay was wonderful. The location is excellent as it close to the train and buses. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The only minor issue would be that there isn't a safe in the room. They do offer a safe in the basement that staff accesses for you. We would definitely stay here if we return to Paris.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at this excellently located, quiet and pleasant hotel. The room would have been sufficiently spacious if it hadn't had a king-sized bed in it. The bathroom, with an excellent shower, was very capacious by contrast. WiFi worked well. We were a little surprised that the staff would not call a taxi for us - this was our first visit to Paris and perhaps this is customary? They made helpful restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was good and served in an ancient, stone-arched room beneath the ground floor. One descends a staircase that would be challenging for those with physical limitations. All in all, the hotel met our needs and was very well situated.

Yelp
Très bien placé, jolies chambres avec salle de bain spacieuse. Personnel acceuillant. Malheureusement très mal insonorisé, en tout cas pour les chambres donnant sur la rue.

Yelp
I could not find anything wrong with this hotel even if I wanted to!! The perfect balance of comfort, practicality, quality of service and not even to mention the location. It is the third time that I stay there when in Paris and I call it my parisian home cet hôtel est parfait!!!

Yelp
The service at this hotel is second to none. I could not be happier that I chose to stay here because the staff were so friendly and accommodating. In addition, I would argue this hotel has the best location in Paris. It is located on a quiet street off of a main boulevard in the trendy Le Marais neighborhood, which has tons and tons of fantastic restaurants, shopping & sight-seeing. There are several public transit stops very close by and you are walking distance to some of the most famous Parisian attractions. Moreover, the room at Grand Hotel Malher was nicely cleaned every day and had everything I needed from a hotel room. I stayed in two different rooms during my stay, and both had nice windows which opened up to a view of a large plant in the courtyard. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Paris.

Yelp
I recommend this hotel at this price point. Quiet, decent rooms, great location for metro and buses, restaurants within walking distance, good breakfast. Also recommend paying a little more for one of the larger rooms.

Yelp
Good location. Staff speak English and are very helpful. There is a lift. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The room was too small but that's Paris. I would stay there again. Peter A.

Yelp
This hotel is in a perfect neighbourhood, and my absolute favourite. A block from St Paul metro, great restaurants walking distance to many tourist sights, don't miss the park at Place des vosges. The staff is friendly and accommodating the room was clean and had all I needed. The wifi works great, which is important for me so I always include a review of the wifi (and wish everyone did!) Stay here, you won't regret it. Thanks for your hospitality, Grand Hôtel Malher!
