Old school, modern prices though. You can't deny the charm of this place, it's a gorgeous white building overlooking the gulf, with a private terrace and a luxurious swimming pool. It's at the opposite side of the "Imperiale Palace Hotel", which in hindsight is better located, but even more outrageously expensive. Both the train station and the docks are closer to the other side, so the Miramare imposes a bit of a walk, but still manageable, especially when the promenade makes for such a beautiful experience. There's also a bus station right in front, but during off hours good luck waiting for that bus.
The rooms are nice, but I don't get the fixation with the old habit of the key with the brass pendant. It's annoying, heavy and probably not very secure when you leave it behind, because they don't ask for an ID when you claim it back from the Concierge. I was also surprised to see there were no outlets in the room, it's either the nightstand lamp or your phone, you can't charge and get the light at the same time. At the desk? No better, but you do get free internet access, which is nice.
Thumbs up for the breakfast, on the gorgeous terrace. I tried a bit of everything, but the foccaccia ligure ended up being my favorite pick: it's fresh and it's the original focaccia, you can't leave Liguria without having it tried it at least once.
Overall, a pleasant experience, but next time I'd rather stay at a less glamorous place that's more central.
