A stunning historic hotel with deep roots in Livorno, originally a palace that has been tastefully converted into a refined accommodation. The front desk team delivered exceptional support and hospitality throughout the stay. Rooms are elegant, generously sized, and comfortable. Breakfast is flavorful and of high quality. An excellent choice for travelers seeking heritage, comfort, and top-tier service.

Second visit. This Hotel calls itself a 5 Star Hotel. I don’t know how the ratings work in Italy, but no way is this place 5 star. Don’t get me wrong, it is a very nice place but the only reason I stay here is because of the proximity to my best friend’s house- next door! The rooms are a good size, comfortable beds. The bathrooms have everything you want but all just so old. I hate shower over baths but only option that I have seen. The towel rail at the end of the bath is more rust than chrome. The fittings all work, just so old. Drain works but slowly. Peeling paint around the whole building. The breakfast selection is fine but could be better. The staff at breakfast are all very friendly, helpful and happy. Most of the reception staff are friendly and professional but 1 of the staff members was just not friendly to me at all. You work in hospitality so be nicer!! I don’t know if I caused a problem but???

From the moment you step into the Palazzo, the welcome from every member of staff makes you feel truly cared for. Their kindness and attention go far beyond what you’d expect for such a modestly priced stay, I was unsure upon booking as other reviews are not so inspiring, my standards are high but realistic and I could not find anything to complain about.||The restaurant team are wonderful. They know their wines and food so well and speak several languages, making every guest feel comfortable. The dishes are beautifully presented, and the fish I ordered was soft, perfectly cooked and full of flavour.||The location is excellent with easy parking, and breakfast was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Our room was spotless, cosy and very comfortable.

The hotel was nice and Tidy as you'd expect from a five star hotel. Breakfast was great and staff helpful. What I found strange was that you had to pay to use the spa (use of sauna etc.) With hefty price tag of €70 PP on Friday. My mattress was knackered springs broken and one side virtually collapsed. The bathroom door was taty with bits peeling off. Admittedly, I couldn't be bothered to complain and get my room changed after unpacking our stuff and noticing the state of mattress late at night. And parking was €18 per night, which I didn't notice of any mention of their website or Trip.com. They charged me for 2 instead 3 when I mentioned the mattress before checking out. To be honest there has to be some level checking the condition of the beds by the supervisor. The pool on the roof was very small, not worth bothering with except if want to sit beside it for suntanning. I didn'tnotice any offer of drinks or food at the pool. I gave service a four star only because we asked for couple of things to the room which didn't happen.

Highly recommend the Grand Hotel Palazzo, the staff is very helpful, the room was amazing. We have enjoyed a rich breakfast and the ladies who have served us were cheerful and had a very positive vibe to start the day. Also the roof terrace is beautiful and we thank the reception for the welcoming drink. 10/10 is my grade, wished I had a higher one for our experience. Many thanks Grand Hotel for the amazing stay in Livorno.

I went to stay in this hotel with my family during July 9 - 11, 2025, and we found this was the most terrible experience in our life. The ONLY 1 good thing about the hotel is the nice view of the sea. No other good thing I can think of.||Here is the summary of my experience|- Terrible check-in speed of the night shift staff. We checked in 9 rooms and it toom them for around 1 hour to finish, with a lot of mistake with room assignments. That female staff was also very rude to us.|- The air conditioning in my mom's suite room was out of order. She had to move to stay with my sister in another room. We complained and they were never able to fix it!! The worst thing is they DID NOT give us the refund!! They said we had to get it from Booking.com, which later on told us that it was hotel decision to return the money or not. |- The bed was the lowest quality. Cheap spring material inside. I had to support my back with towels.|- The towels were extremely old, and rough. Zero softness.|- They provided us with disposable plastic cups in the room, considering very room rate, this is really pathetic.|- Even worse, I found an insect “the silver fish” in the towel. Not only me, my sister’s and my brother’s rooms too.|- They provided us only 2 rolls of tissue paper for the whole stay.|- NO water bottle provided for the whole stay!!! Can you believe that??? They said they will give us 1 bottle per room when we check out. …… I was totally speechless....|- Very slow speed WIFI in the room. I was so slow that I changed to buy mobile data and paid for it. |- I put the “do not disturb” sign on the door knob, but found out when I returned to my room that the house keeping ignored it and entered my room anyway. I complained to the front desk and they just said sorry. That’s it. |- We happened to meet the owner of the hotel and we told him everything we found included his rude staff. He just listened, gave us some excuses, and left. Zero compensation!!|- The rudest front staff is Mart** Kay* She was in the night shift…stayed in the staff room behind the counter. My sister went there to ask for help, she heard my sister voice but ignored. My sister tried to look for someone behind the counter and entered the area by only 1 step, but she suddenly raised her voice and said “If you enter in this room, I’ll call the police!”” OMGGG, why on earth she said this?? Did she forget it was her job to service the guest??? ||My last point for this trashy hotel for everyone is…..PLEASE STAY AWAY!!

Spent a night with wife . The hotel has a long history (1884) but it looks tired and clearly not a 5 star hotel. Rooms are decently large, but with scuffed and old furniture. An espresso style coffee maker is in the room, but no pods. Bathtub style shower has good pressure . WiFi was poor. We had a great seaside view from our room.|Service was uninspiring overall. The price was twice that of 4 star hotels. Not worth it except for the history of this building.Parking on premises is helpful.

This is an elegant property with character and a palpable history in a beautiful seaside location. The staff members are all friendly, approachable, helpful and well trained and the break fast buffet is excellent. yes the rooms are old but so is the building - but everything is in keeping with an elegant bygone age. Plenty of parking and. once parked, one can walk everywhere in this lovely town.

Yelp
We decided to stay in a hotel in Livorno vs an airBNB, bc we wanted a change of pace. Apts in Italy tend to be small, and the showers are tiny. The Palazzo is the nicest hotel in Livorno, and has been in biz for over 100 yrs. It has great views of the water fr the rooftop bar & restaurant. Single rooms were about €150,00 including taxes & fees. The rooms were spacious, and the bathrooms were good sized and inc a tub. We indulged in the bar & apps, bfast buffet and dinner during our stay. The service was excellent, but the pricing is high. For an example, an Americano cocktail was €18,00 vs elsewhere the drink would have been €8,00. Secondarily, the buffet is €22,00, but did not have made to order items. The scrambled eggs were runny, and the sausage were like hot dogs. I stuck to the charcuterie, boiled eggs, fresh fruit and croissants. I also grabbed take away for mija & ITC, that dropped the actual cost closer to €7,00/person. Lastly, dinner was +€100,00 for two entrees, a salad, a dessert and one glass of wine. All in all, a positive stay bc of the rooms, the location and excellent service. Apparently the Palazzo is popular for weddings and bachelorette parties too. I'm glad the Italian version of the latter are more tame vs the crap you see in Vegas - LOL!

Yelp
I know I'm rating hotel, but I have to start with the food. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow morning of the breakfast buffet. It was beautiful - inside and out. Yes, inside of my belly. They have these small pizza bites (for breakfast - it's like college, I know) that were so amazing. The hotel is clean, the prices reasonable, the Internet fast and free and the parking is absolutely easy and free as well. If you pay for a small upgrade, you get a beach view. There's also a fitness studio with technogym equipment and a spa (spa I haven't tried). The TV has a few international channels. Everything fancy shmancy, you could say. My boyfriend wants me to add: the toilet paper roll isn't properly attached to the wall and there is some mold along the bathtub.

Yelp
Can always count on NH Hotels to be up to par with the cleanliness and the trends, outfitting and technology. They understand importance of Free WiFi, LED TVs, quiet air conditioner, healthy choices for room service, and other standards not so common in buildings in Europe. I stated in NH Hotels in Barcelona, Palermo, Rome and always got same exact set of standards at affordable price,- True value for money! Love it!

Yelp
This is a nice hotel in a good location for Livorno. The room we stayed in was clean and had a nice ocean view. The king size bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The breakfast was typical European style breads cold cuts cakes juice and cheeses. I must say for our taste the scrambled eggs are more like soup but the locals seem to enjoy them so maybe that's their preference. Overall we are satisfied with the hotel the facilities and service. The desk staff had a couple of individuals that seemed bothered when approached. We are not sure if it was due to we are on Italian and spoke English but we did not let that ruin or stay. They changed their attitude quickly when their supervisor was at the desk and made the effort to make us feel a little more welcome. Would stay again if I were in Livorno again.

Yelp
I stayed at the NH Grand Hotel Palazzo in Livorno three times and the overall experience is very positive. Rooms are large and nicely furnished, with everything one may need. Besides the lobby there are a couple of rooms with couches where it is possible to meet others, and the breakfast room has an outdoor space to enjoy the fresh air in the summertime. Bar and restaurant are located on thetop floor, there are tables outside on the terrace, as well as a small but nice swimming pool and several sundecks. View from the rooms is directly on the seaside, while those on the inner side overwatch a park. Personnel is helpful and polite. Unfortunately the internet connection is not included in the room price but costs €10.50 extra per day. I don't get it... considering that a night at the hotel doesn't cost €30, it would have been better to add €10 to the final price and give internet access for free (especially for those going for work that would have to pay themselves the extra fee)!
