Where to Stay in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"I appreciated the Grand President Hotel’s scale: three different towers each with its own rooftop pool and restaurant, nicely furnished studios and suites with marble flooring and contemporary decor, and some rooms with kitchenettes — it’s a convenient family-friendly option in lively Sukhumvit 11." - Matthew Kepnes

Stayed here late October, it was still warm so we could sit on the balcony at night. Views were spectacular and the free shuttle bus was a great touch. Room was great as was the room service we received on our first night. All staff were attentive and helpful. We visited the spa which was a small spa, but we had use of it just to ourselves so very relaxing. Overall I'd very much recommend staying here!

My wife and I stayed there for a week. An absolutely lovely Hotel. ||From the time we arrived we where made the feel welcome. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. A special shout out to Vincenzo Terminiello who went the extra mile to make our stay special. Also Luigi in the restaurant, ||The hotel is outside of sorrento, about a 15 minute drive, but the hotel offers a free shuttle bus service. Our driver, again very pleasant, managed to get us back and forth every day alive! I'm afraid I forgot his name, but be prepared to listen to Pink Floyd during the ride.||The food was very good. Breakfast had a very good selection including an omelette station. The eggs where cooked to perfection with nice runny yokes. There was also a selection of cakes and muffins, and best of all, prosecco! Everything you need to start the day. Lunch at the pool side restaurant was tasty. A nice club sandwich with a massive portion of fries. Evening meals in the restaurant where varied and again, very nice||Views from the restaurant and bar where beautiful over looking Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples towards Mt Vesuvius.||Overall, Excellent.

Grand Hotel President was fine but we probably wouldn’t stay again. First, if it wasn’t for the free shuttle, the hotel would likely not survive. The views are spectacular but some at a cost. We stayed 6 nights in late September and it is about a 35-45 euro taxi ride each way to and from Sorrento. The shuttle was full most times and you will definitely need to plan for your ride. The drop off point is near hotel Ceasar Augusto which is about a 10 minute walk to the main piazza and a 20 minute walk to the ferries with lots of steps involved and not for the elderly. If you are arriving by ferry with luggage, you will definitely need a taxi to the hotel. It is just too many steps. The shuttle runs on the hour so you need to plan. We were disappointed that neither the hotels pool nor the jacuzzi were heated. For a semi warm hot tub, its 20 euro each person for two hours inside. We did a massage and hot tub afternoon for 200 euro for two. The breakfast is very good, but we never dined in the hotel. We chose to eat at the many great restaurants in Sorrento. The wine list at the bar was not very good. The room was small but adequate, we stayed in room 264 with a view of the parking lot. Some nights were chilly and the rooms have only central heating which was not turned on for the season. Id like to say that Antonio the shuttle driver was excellent and made the trip fun. Margarita the room maid was excellent and friendly. The staff were friendly. We would stay in Sorrento next time because of proximity and the city itself offers many great views. I would say that the hotel is over priced and barely four stars only for the view.

Beautiful views. We went in October, it was warm. The AC wasn't on so had to ask for a fan. We had sea view and balcony. We left the doors to balcony open most nights for cool air. There was alot of noise from town, which was surprising for how far up we were. Bring earplugs!!! Walls are thin also. If you have pool side rooms below restaurant expect alot of noise from chairs being dragged on floor early morning for breakfast. The staff was AMAZING!! Wait staff were fun, and remembered us. Food was great, alot of breakfast options, lunch at pool was excellent. Shuttle was perfect!

Beautiful hotel with beautiful views, but getting into town or anywhere for that matter, by taxi is outrageously expensive, particularly if one has limited mobility. I'd hoped the shuttle would be the perfect convenience, however it does not drop you in the center but blocks away with a steep staircase to navigate. We thought the dinner in the restaurant was limited in selections and not all that good. The free breakfast buffet was fine. Sorry, but don't know that I can recommend under these circumstances.

The views are spectacular. The vast majority of staff particularly cleaning team and main restaurant staff are warm and welcoming. Food at breakfast is great. Good selection for everyone. There are a mixture of both couples and families with young ones. Staff are always great with young families and helping those that need it. Our biggest bug bear is not sleeping well. Very disappointed with the level of noise that could be heard through walls in the corridor and next door when you are in your room. Moved room still didn't make a difference. Spoke to other guests and they said the same. I will not be returning for that very reason. I want to sleep well on my holiday not feel shattered from not sleeping well. So it's a no from me. It would have been 1 star only but that would be unfair to the staff who are working hard in those areas I previously mentioned. Finally dont get hung up on the hotel star rating it's given. For me it doesn't feel like a 4 star at all. But that's my personal view and it's very country dependent.

An excellent hotel with a great view of Vesuvius, the sea and the town of Sorrento. Great staff that look after you so well. Food in the restaurant is good and it's very comfortable to relax by the pool and enjoy the great view. Well recommended and a stay in a villa room is well recommended. A shuttle bus to the town every hour is a real bonus.

The views are simply stunning, whether it's morning, noon or night, it takes your breath away. The rooms are spacious, with plenty of space for your clothes. The breakfast room is large and you can sit outside on the balcony or inside if the weather isn't so good. The choice for breakfast is huge - from freshly baked pastries, to an omelette station, fresh fruits, cheeses, meats as well as various breads and a selection of hot food too. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.||You can chose to have your room cleaned daily or every couple of days.||The hotel shuttle into the town is a bonus and we used it several times a day. Whilst the walk down the hill would be ok, unless you are fit and active, the walk back up could be difficult.

Yelp
First: The hotel seems close to the town of Sorrrento but it is actually a 20 euro cab ride away. It took us about 20 minutes from town to get to the hotel. Second: I had the worst service. The night attendent Rafaella was asleep when we arrived. When dealing with him he was rude and clearly bothered by being woken up from his nap. He first pretended we did not have a reservation and told us the hotel was completely full. It was not until I noticed my name written on the list in front of him did he acknowledge that I actually did have a reservation. Every other hotel employee we dealt with in Sorrento was warm and easy to deal with. STAY AWAY from this place.

Yelp
Grand Hotel President is a beautiful hotel on a very tall cliff over the city of Sorrento. If you're looking for a hotel in the heart of Sorrento, (or you're bad with heights) you'll likely be disappointed, but the free shuttle into town was more than convenient, and the view of the city and the bay below is worth every minute of the drive down and back. One of my favorite moments of my trip was lying in the grass out back, and looking out over the town. My food allergies (peanuts, treenuts, fish) can make travelling hard sometimes, but Antonio & Pierluigi did an amazing job of making feel safe, and the food that I had at GHP was some of the best food I had all vacation. I had pancakes and fresh fruit for breakfast, and was even able to eat dessert most nights. Would highly recommend staying for anyone visiting Sorrento.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay last April very much. We thought it had a cruise ship feel to it. Both in decor and service, which is a good thing. They go above and beyond on service. We ate most of our dinners there and several breakfasts. The head waiter, Antonino was terrific and was very attentive to our needs. By the end of our stay, he got to know our likes and dislikes, my daughter's special vegetarian requests, etc. The shuttle down to town was very convenient, but we all agreed that it's a little further out than is convenient. If you're looking for a secluded, quiet, spot with a gorgeous view, this is it. But if you're looking to step out your door to the shops, restaurants, etc., you might want to try something in town.
