Grand Hotel Ma&Ma Resort (La Maddalena, Sardinia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Isola Maddalena, just off the northern coast of Sardinia, is home to a lavish, modern, and blissfully adults-only hotel: the Grand Hotel Ma&Ma. The rooms and suites range widely in size, from the economical Classic to the properly lavish Presidential suite, and the hotel’s four floors are decorated in four distinct styles: minimal, casual, romantic, and “fashion.” The spa is an extensive one, with a sauna, a Turkish bath, and a heated pool, and the restaurants offer some variety as well, from the upscale L’Antica Isola to the casual, open-air, wood-fired MaMa Pizza." - Tablet Hotels

Simply NOT a 5 star hotel. We spent one week at this hotel (which admittedly, was the only nice hotel we found on La Maddalena). The room was clean, but lacked a depth of detail for a 5 star hotel: 1) The AC was super loud and the fan speed could not be adjusted. 2) The shower drain was loose, and there was a constant smell coming from it. 3) The shower walls were not properly sealed so that the bathroom was under water after every shower. I’ve heard from this problem from other reviews, so I can assume this is a hotel-wide issue. 4) The safe did not work when we got there, and it had to be adjusted by hotel staff. 5) The door to the balcony did not open properly. 6) The shower gel was so awkwardly installed that when using it, the gel ran down the shower wall. The service was great, the breakfast staff, cleaning staff as well as the reception was super friendly and helpful. The only thing I could point out here is that even though I explicitly told the cleaning staff to keep my towels (I even wrote it in Italian to be prevent any misunderstanding), they still replaced them. The breakfast was good, but lacked the excellence of a 5 star hotel. The breakfast room was packed, loud, and uncomfortable. Anyone who wanted to spend some quiet time in the outside eating area was unfortunately met with a horde of wasps, which left many guests going back in to finish their meal. I would have not been that disappointed if the hotel was 4 stars, but I simply expect more from an European hotel with such self proclaimed high standards.

We had an amazing stay at the Grand Hotel Resort Ma&Ma! Everything was perfect! They also offer a complimentary 2-hour spa session with the room. The ambiance by the pool at night was so romantic! Breakfast was fantastic, with a great selection of food. We would love to come back again and would recommend this hotel without hesitation!

Great adults, only hotel. Beautiful pool with so many little places to sit or lay down and absorb the sun and listen to gently music. Across the road from them, they have a beautiful beach area, and again, sit and relax. You have access to a couple of very small rocky beaches.

I'm really really confused with all the 5 star reviews about this hotel.. My experience was far from that.. I felt trapped in a scam and wanted to leave from day 1.. The whole thing is a joke but it's not funny cause you end up paying for it.. And it's going to cost you.. I don't even feel like writing this review cause I don't want to remember this experience.. Just a couple of warnings if you are thinking of booking.. Don't book the overpriced beach lounges/ sunbeds .. There's no beach.. Literally there's no beach access just some rocks where it's not possible to swim..nothing..nada.. Don't book the package with the boat tour it's not the one you've seen on their site.. It's a trap and you r going to have to pay extra because you already paid half as they will claim and there's literally nothing else to do.. (I'll put a picture of the actual boat tour with no food included and a 100 other people on board.. Enjoy!). The village is far and it's run down.. Saw a giant rat in the middle of the day roaming unbothered.. and it's not a nice walk either, it's going to be smelly.. It's sad... And at points I felt it might not even be safe at night. You are going to feel like an elder person vacationing in the 80's but you r paying so much money for it you won't believe how they got you.. Change your plans and destination before it's too late.. I can't justify the prices in Sardegna for the life of me.. Oh and wasps everywhere!! Enjoy your breakfast indoors on your summer vacation 🤪 *The hotel room was clean ill give them that **First time Ive bothered the hotels concierge in my life.. I'm sorry I was desperate.. Booked a run down fiat for 100€ a day.. It was a necessity at that point as our booking was non refundable.. Then add the boat to Palau at your expenses.. ***The staff did their best I'm disappointed with the whole experience **** met some good people but most were uncharrming to say the least. They don't like tourists and they want you to know it.. but they like overcharging them 🙃

Stayed here four nights at the beginning of my Sardinia trip. Overall very happy my friend and I stayed here. They don’t offer two separate beds so we shared but liked that we each had our own comforter! Hotel feels very comfortable and posh compared to typical beach hotels around the area. Very modern. Breakfast spread and service was fantastic. The stay included a two hour spa time (access to indoor warm pool, sauna, steam room etc) which needs to be reserved. The pool area was very relaxing and appreciated they played relaxing spa music vs party music. So the pool vibe is very relaxed. However I thought it was weird there is no pool seating around the pool—it’s mainly tables to eat. The lounge chairs were behind the pool in the grassy area with limited shade depending on if you were sitting under a tree or not. We had lunch at the pool one day and the food was fresh and very good. Location was great but we never walked to town and chose to drive and park in the free parking lots. In June parking on town was not a problem. ||Things to improve on: while I do feel this is a 5 star hotel, it lacked 5 star towel service! You could only get a fresh towel once a day. If you wanted to change a towel, you need to pay 3 extra euros. This was annoying because what if you start the day at the pool or beach and then switch?! You should at least be allowed to get one towel at beginning of day and change once during the day without having to pay! The beach club is new and so expensive to rent a gazebo (like over 100 euros) with a flimsy cloth as a curtain. Didn’t bother. There are nicer beaches around the island too. The beach club is on a rocky area of land. It’s free to walk to and onto and you can lie on rocks for free. We went to Spalmatore and Rietto (on neighbor island) and rented beach chairs and umbrellas instead where there is sand vs rocks. Go very early though to secure parking especially at Rietto (also this has a bumpy rocky narrow path drive towards the last few minutes there but was worth it). ||Overall staff was friendly and helpful and I did enjoy staying here except the towel inconvenience (which is standard I guess on the island but again expect 5 star towel service!). ||Definitely do a boat tour! We did a tour twice (different boats). The best way to see all the beaches and areas around.

The hotel is located far from everything — it takes around 40 minutes on foot to reach the city center, and there are no nearby attractions or activities unless you’re willing to spend significantly more. While the basic stay is already expensive, almost everything else comes with additional fees. The on-site restaurant costs about €100 per person, which is excessive for what’s offered. Drinks are also overpriced, and even access to the beach requires extra payment — despite being a guest at the hotel. To put it into perspective, you could rent a boat for an entire day for the same price as a sunbed on their beach. Talking about the beach, it is practically empty, which says a lot — it’s pitiful to see such a nice area unused, and it clearly reflects how unreasonable the pricing is. The atmosphere around the pool is not ideal for relaxation, as loud music plays non-stop throughout the day. Another frustrating issue is that many guests leave towels on the poolside loungers all day to reserve spots, even when they’re not using them — making it nearly impossible for others to find a place to sit. Overall, the value for money is disappointing, especially considering the lack of included amenities and the constant feeling that you’re being charged extra for everything.

We recently visited the MAMA Grand and it was wonderful.||We had to book a transfer from the hotel direct (this was lack of planning on our part) but they arranged this seamlessly. The private taxi was perfectly on time and very courteous.||On arrival, I enquired about a change of room (we were 2 friends and the booking had only allowed a double bed which would not do), the front desk staff were extremely helpful, and even let me see both rooms (x1 double & 1x twin) before choosing at no additional cost!||The lunch menu at the restaurant is somewhat limited BUT the cocktails at the pool bar along with the impeccable staff make up for this.||The interior and decor of the hotel is possibly the prettiest and well-designed I have ever seen, right down to the room fragrance throughout (and in the products in our bathroom).||We had breakfast included, which was a decent selection of different items (perhaps more variety for non-pork eating guests might be a suggestion) but all in all there was something for everyone at breakfast. Staff in this area are also very attentive. ||We visited the spa (2 hours or access to the sauna, steam room and heated pool is included in the room), spa was clean and well managed with a relaxing ambience.||The hotel is located across the road from several rocky beach areas you can go to, there is a diner located close to the beach area with a decent selection of items and wine.||The room was clean and a decent size. Cleaners attended twice a day and did a fantastic job!||All of the staff were always happy to help and patient with requests.||I have to give a special thank you to Julia (front desk) and the pool / towel staff gentlemen who work tirelessly all day and no job is ever too big or small, they did everything with a polite smile and a kind word.||I would recommend MAMA to anyone visiting the beautiful town of La Maddalena.
