We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Ma&Ma Grand Resort Hotel and enjoyed every minute of it.|From the start, we booked our transfer through the hotel, they responded quickly via email to confirm arrangements and the driver was prompt and clearly visible at the airport and made journey to the hotel, easy and hassle free. |Check-in was efficient and painless with our room ready immediately (arrived around midday). We had booked a superior double room which was well decorated, spotlessly clean and had a nice balcony with a partial sea view. The bed was comfortable, and a quick call to the concierge had the air con 'lock' removed so that we could reduce the temperature. There was adequate storage and a safe provided. Also in the room was a fridge (charged mini bar) but with room to store your own drinks. The bathroom was a good size with a nice shower and toiletries. If any minor issue, then there was no tea/coffee making facility in the room which would have been nice and generally expected in a 5* establishment, however, these were always available elsewhere in the hotel.|We spent many days around the pool area where there are no sun beds directly adjacent to the pool (not an issue), but always plenty available in the garden area where they were afforded ample space with options for direct sun or full shade depending on your preference. The sun beds were large and comfortable with a table per pair. The pool was is clean and refreshing and rarely busy. There are a number of chairs & tables around the pool for which are serviced by a very well managed pool bar which is open most of the day serving a wide variety of warm drinks, alcohol and soft drinks as well as a well thought out food selection. The service provided at the bar was exceptional with warm friendly staff through the day and evening. The pool bar remains open through the evening serving aperitivo snacks with your drinks with live music on certain evenings. |We ate at the restaurant and the MaMa pizzeria on a couple of occasions and inked the food and service in both. There is a large lounge bar adjacent to the reception, however, this was rarely used and never seemed to have anyone in there (either staff or customers), not sure why as it is a lovely room with a grand piano and comfortable seating.|We used our free (included with the stay) 2hr spa visit and found it to be a very relaxing experience. The 1 visit per stay rule seems a bit odd as you get a 2hr free spa visit if you are staying 1 night and the same 2hr free visit if you are staying 2 weeks, an additional charge of €35 per person is levied should you wish to visit again - whilst it was nice, we did not bother with a second visit, seemed a little unfair that a 1 night stay gets you a single visit and a 2 week stay also gets you a single visit.|We used the beach club (booked a front row gazebo) on one of the days at a cost of €120 which was nice, although the beach is mainly rocks with a couple of small strips of sand were you can enter the sea (which is wonderfully clear and calm).|La Maddalena - we walked into town most days/evenings - don't let anyone tell you it's a 15-20 minute walk, it was at least 30 minutes at a good pace, the first 10 of which are along a main road with no path to walk on. Once you reach the path it becomes a very pleasant walk and well worth it once you reach the town where a plethora of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants await, each one as welcoming and friendly as the last. The town centre is a fabulous place stop and have a drink and a snack whilst watching the world go by and definitely worth the effort of walking into town - taxi's are available but not widely and not always easy to arrange.|All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ma&Ma and would definitely return to La Maddalena and to the Ma&Ma.
