We stayed at this hotel as a family of 4 and we had an amazing stay! We initially booked their one bedroom with a sofa bed but was told that because I had a 5 yr old child and a 10 yr old child (2 kids total), I would need to upgrade to a one bedroom jr suite for another 150 CHF per night. This was significantly more than what we expected to pay but the other option was to pay for another room, which would've been even more. We got the upgrade and it was really a very nice set up. The bedroom was enormous and the living area was in separate room. The staff made up the sofa bed for my kids and it was really nice. The shower and toilet were separate which was quite nice actually. We also enjoyed the balcony with a partial lake view. We could not control the thermostats in the rooms and we would've preferred it to be 1-2 degrees cooler but we were there during a heat wave. There was also a bakery right next door and we were able to get breakfast without having to eat at the hotel restaurant each day. We loved walking around the lake which was just across the street from the hotel. The train station was also conveniently located across the street. The rates for this hotel are quite high but for a luxury hotel, I was quite pleased with our experience. I would recommend this hotel to others visiting Montreux.

Hotel has a great location right across from the train station and close the lake. Enjoyed our stay. A few notes, beds are soft, balconies are nice but not private at all. Room was comfortable but biggest issue was the bathroom. It is very tight with a silly design of extended oversized hardware that protrudes from the side. No rainshower, has a big step in, water does not go down the drain and no bath mat.(might be slippery for some). Staff are pleasant, particularly the bell staff. Would stay again.

Overall a pleasant stay at Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, with some room for improvement. Check-in was managed by a staff member together with a trainee, and while the process went smoothly, some information could have been clearer: for example, the CHF 100 deposit initially caused some confusion about the room rate, and mentioning breakfast times at check-in gave the impression that it was included in the rate. At night, I noticed a few short hairs (3–5) on the bed sheet, which was disappointing. The reception reacted quickly, and housekeeping came to change the bedding within about 10 minutes. Although the issue was solved, the staff could have been a little friendlier in their approach. That said, the hotel has an excellent location and the breakfast room offers stunning views of the lake, which really elevates the experience. With slightly better attention to detail in cleanliness and communication, this could easily feel like a top four-star stay.

The location is outstanding. Directly across from the train and across the street from the lake.||Nabil is a standout employee as he was so helpful and always greeted with a smile. He really added so much by helping us navigate trains, restaurants etc. The breakfast can be missed -|Actually kind of bad but nice view. Better to go to the street as there are nice coffee shops with breakfast options. ||The bar is super nice outside with a lake view and a good selection of cocktails. ||My biggest complaint is the tub shower.|It is so tall that to step in and out is treacherous. I just started going to the gym where this is one shower. I would check to see if there are any other options with a shower that is safer. ||Overall a nice property.

We enjoyed 4 lovely nights at this hotel. The room was spacious and modern. To top it off, our lake/mountain views were breathtaking – especially at sunset/dusk. It’s worth the extra cost for a lakeview room!!! Customer service at the hotel was fantastic. Breakfast was amazing. At no additional cost, you can also order a made-to-order omelet. The servers in the dining room were so sweet and attentive. Glad we were able to get a deal on breakfast at booking. Food in Switzerland is quite high, so it’s nice to get a good breakfast before you start your day. The location cannot be beat. You literally walk across the street after leaving the train station and the hotel entrance is right there. I have to make a comment about the A/C: We almost didn’t stay here because of other reviews with complaining about it. Unfortunately, because I had read so many complaints about the A/C temp being fixed, and pointless, I didn’t really play with the unit very much. We had unseasonably warm temps while we were there, and despite leaving the curtains closed during the day (we had to leave a note for housekeeping to leave them closed), the room would get quite warm. I didn’t discover until our final night, that although you cannot change the temperature, you need to make sure to turn the dang thing on, and choose a fan setting. We did that, and finally enjoyed a night with the room nice and cool. This is coming from someone who keeps their A/C at 66 degrees at night at home. We like it COLD. I wish I’d figured this out on day 1 as we roasted the first 3 nights! If you leave your doors open, you might have noise from the restaurant until about 22-23:00. If we ever get to come back Montreux, we WILL stay here. I’m still yearning for Lake Geneva!

I was truly disappointed with my recent stay at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic. I had booked a Junior Suite with Partial Lake View, but the room I received had a very small, recessed window in a slanted wall with almost no lake view unless you leaned . They advertised a queen bed, but it was two twin mattresses pushed together, and we could feel the gap in the middle all night. I requested to speak to the manager, left a message, and was promised a follow-up. That never happened. The photos on the Marriott site show bright, spacious rooms with large windows. What I received was not only misleading but felt like a downgrade. When I raised this concern, I was told that there is no guarantee the room matches the website photos on their official site. That’s very troubling. As an Elite member, I expect better alignment between what is advertised and what is delivered—especially at an Autograph Collection property. This experience did not reflect the standard or recognition I’ve come to expect from Marriott.

This hotel is gorgeous! It's super conveniently located right across the Montreux train station. The staff are super friendly. I'm in awe with the spectacular lake and mountain view at the lakeside restaurant. I can sit there all day long just to enjoy the view. The breakfast is very good too. I highly recommend it. This hotel is the highlight of my trip.

As a single traveler, this hotel worked just fine for me, I received a complementary upgrade due to my Marriott status with a fabulous view of the lake, and what a view it was!||If you are traveling as a couple, this hotel does not offer a king bed so you may find the accommodations tight. The bathrooms are also very small and the shower is not fully enclosed, so everything will get quite wet when you bathe, especially if you choose to use the shower wand. The gym on the ninth floor is also basic at best, it could really be something special but needs reimagining. Lastly, I find it important to note that there is no space to unload luggage from your car in front of the hotel, nor is there on site parking, so if you are not arriving by train, you may find it logistically difficult to check in and check out. ||Despite all of that, I slept great, the mattress was very comfortable, and the air-conditioning worked to American standards, not European standards, which was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely consider returning upon my next trip to Montreux.

Yelp
My recent stay at Hôtel Suisse Majestic was nothing short of a disaster, and I feel compelled to share my experience to save others from the same disappointment. This hotel has managed to shatter any illusion of Swiss hospitality, leaving a bitter taste that will linger for years to come. Firstly, the front desk staff is the epitome of unprofessionalism, showcasing blatant bias against non-French speakers. Both the male and female employees seem to delight in pretending not to understand basic English words. How difficult is it to comprehend the word "tea"? It's almost as if they were deliberately obtuse, forcing you into a frustrating game of charades to communicate the simplest requests. Their attitudes reeked of condescension, making it abundantly clear that they had little patience for anyone who dared speak a language other than French. The so-called "view" was completely obstructed by some hideous scaffolding, and the decor seemed to belong to another century--one where "luxury" apparently meant peeling wallpaper and creaky furniture. To top it all off, the staff exhibited zero accountability. I left behind some belongings in my room and expected, at the very least, a courtesy call or email notifying me. Not a word. When I tried to contact them about it, they feigned ignorance and showed absolutely no interest in helping me retrieve my items. Their indifference was infuriating and spoke volumes about their lack of care for their guests.

Yelp
Awwwww yes..... from the moment we arrived until the last breakfast out. We had a " majestic" time The location is perfect for walking the 8 mile around gorgeous Lake Geneva. The beds are the most comfortable and the amenities are all L'Occttane. You do have to call down to have them adjust the temp . To your liking. We set at 20c and it was perfect. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the lake. There is a tiny gym. The staff primarily speak French and English. If you are up for a nice long walk you can make it to The Chateau Chillon in 45 min. Along the Lake. We highly recommend a stay here. There is also a tiny market just across the street for fresh fruit and things. The train station is a 5 min comfortable walk.

Yelp
What an absolutely gorgeous place to visit. It is truly breathtaking. We drove from Geneva and had a convenient place to plug in the electric car. It was very easy to take the excellent trains and if you stay here, it is just down a staircase from the train. So nice when you're tired from a big day of exploring. Easy walk to wonderful restaurants and beautiful shops. Just s few steps away from the beautiful lake promenade with statues and restaurants. The flowers are colorful and gorgeous! This is a great location and we had glorious views of Lake Geneva. In the morning, the dining room with the massive glass doors open, it feels like you're sitting on the most glorious patio in the world. The food is delicious and comforting. The cappuccinos were perfect. I found it very sparkling and elegant.. the people were very nice and want to help with anything. The rooms are huge with lake view patios. To open the doors to a light rain and see lightening over the lake was something I will never forget. This is a wonderful older hotel and the bathrooms are a bit smaller than newer hotels. That said, they were immaculate and well stocked. I would come back in a heartbeat. Still on the list, a visit to the famous Freddy Mercury statue.

Yelp
We arrived into Montreux from traveling about 20+ hours to find this glorious hotel awaiting us. The Hotel Gran Suisse Majestic sits perfectly on Lake Leman overlooking the Montreux Riviera Promenade and strait behind the Belle Epoque train station that gets you on beautiful Swiss trains quickly and easily. There are great restaurants and shoppes within a walking distance and the views are spectacular. As a Marriott Ambassador we received a upgrade to a junior suite overlooking the lake with an expansive balcony -- calling this room a 'suite' was a stretch, but the views of the lake and the snow capped alps were amazing and well worth everything! The doors slid into the walls and we spent hours looking at these views on our 4night stay here. We had a king bed -hardwood floors- a sitting area -walk in closet - a small bathroom again for a 'suite' with nightly turndown service and the decadent Cailler chocolates that we lived for! The welcome gift of wine and Madelines were also a sweet touch! Having arrived late from Geneva , we were happy to have the properties restaurant Le 45 & Health (rather a strange name?) open. The service was never real friendly here; and I took issue with ordering a French bottle of wine that arrived mid meal and was a 2020 when I ordered a 2019 and the price remained the same when I questioned it. Being a sommelier I could have fought them on it, but had zero zap to do so and was happy to have real food and real wine, albeit, not the year I ordered and it wasn't lost on me that they were unwilling to knock the price down. My husbands 25CHF French 75 was good but pricey even for Switzerland. That being said, we decided that the service in the hotel's restaurant and the food was not worth the cost when there are better restaurants within reach. We did love the expansive breakfast that was a perk for the Bonvoy status and the cappuccino , (when the machine worked!) was divine! Again, the snark of the servers was not lost. The view made up for it. We had a dessert one night that was called 100% Swiss and it knocked our socks off.. It was a rendition of the Alps done in Swiss dark chocolate- macron snow caps and just all kinds of amazing! The room was super quiet considering the train station is right there! The bar tends to run the same type of service as the restaurant, as we took drinks in it one night after a day of exploring the nearby villages and having fondue in the higher alps and just wanted a aperitif or two , there was a bartender and two workers, and we never got served beyond the first one and they were not busy! We asked for water and we got one glass! So we gave up and went to have wine in our lovely room over the lake. At check in there is a Riviera Card that you can get and that affords you discounts on Rocher de Naye, the fenicular train that is an extra charge even if you have a Eurail pass or Swiss pass and I highly recommend taking that as a day trip! The card also allows a heavy discount up in Broc where Cailler is... that being said we didn't pay attention that the check in desk didn't provide the correct dates on our Riviera Card until we were at Cailler way up in Broc and it wasn't honored! Oh well! The hotel is beautiful and worth the view and for the standard of Europe rooms will be small. This is, to me, one of the most grandest hotels on the riviera and worth the location.

Yelp
Belle Époque and times of elaboration, Victorian inspiration, peace and progress. Stepping into a building can convey many emotions and few can convey a time and a place better than Hotel Grand Suisse. The brass chandelier, the elaborate exterior detail, the environment of happiness and opulence. Transforming to today, it sits under the Autograph Collection of Marriott Bonvoy, which is generally not a brand known for luxury, but more for unique and interesting. It fits it quite well. With years of fires, neglect and distress, the property would have required a major revamp to restore to its original shape of beauty. It was only done partially, where possible to do a big bang on a Marriott's budget of mass production, stripping away elements that are simply too expensive to restore. It is evident throughout. The chandeliers in the rooms have been replaced by fire detectors. Artwork has been replaced by old photographs on what this place once was. The quality of furnishings has suffered. Yet, it is not all bad. There is a price point for everything, there are expectations and there is reality. Today, this is not the palace that it once was, but it nonetheless exists. It is priced well below the competition such as the Fairmont and has found a sweet spot in the Montreux market. As a Bonvoy ambassador, I got an upgrade to a Junior suite with a lake view. Frankly, calling it a suite is quite a joke as it is the size of what most in the world of four star properties would consider a regular room. However, the view of the lake was wonderful. There was a cramped bathroom with a small but well functioning shower. The checkin process was excellent and very efficient. Breakfast is fairly vast given the hotel's level as a four star property and served in a beautiful atmosphere. This is a property well deserving of its four stars. If the right efforts and attention were put into it, it could certainly warrant more. Nonetheless the experience of the moment that existed during Belle Époque is at least partially conveyed through a stay here and it is pleasant to know that it did not completely disappear.

Yelp
Bad service and steak cuts came with a different temperature from what we order. Not an apology nothing! Not recommended at all. It is expensive and the value for service is not worth it.
