Grand hotel

The hotel looks decent and could be a good option for a couple’s stay. BUT!! the triple rooms are a completely different story. They are basically two normal beds and one so-called “bed” which is nothing more than a tiny, uncomfortable stool placed on the floor. You are literally sleeping on the floor. I find this unacceptable, especially considering we paid for a triple room but got a double room with a mini stool thrown in and were told this is now a place for the third person. That’s just terrible. We asked to change the room, but our request was refused. In the end, we had to literally draw lots to decide who would sleep on the floor. Even dogs sleep better. On top of that, there’s no shower curtain, so taking a shower is almost impossible — the water goes everywhere, flooding the entire bathroom floor. The only positive thing I can say is that the place is clean. But beyond that, the experience was deeply disappointing.

Service and friendliness of staff is good, rooms are fairly basic with only the rooms at front or back having any sort of real view. Windows open all the way to allow air in, but no air conditioning. Interior design is generally quite dated but the hotel overall has plenty of amenities with pool, bar, restaurant, breakfast service and even bowling lane available to hire by the hour. Off street parking available but only a few spots secure behind a barrier. Overall a good value but don't expect the latest styling or 5 star rooms.

If you’ve never been to a hotel before then this is a good introduction to how hotels used to be. The breakfast was adequate, coffee not bad. Within 10 minutes of arriving the canteen staff had asked me to leave the veranda that faces the town square because I was eating an ice cream. Even though I had bought the ice cream at the hotel ice cream stand adjoining the restaurant. So I sat on a shade less bench in the town square even though the veranda area was completely unoccupied. I decided to go back into the hotel and ask the staff member why and apparently it’s hotel policy. The room was moderately clean. There were lots of long hairs on my pillow case but they had probably been washed thoroughly. The room was very hot and I couldn’t sleep so I slept in the car in the hotel car park with the windows open. The Trebic church bell rang every 15 minutes which was helpful when I woke up In the boot of the car wondering what time it was because I didn’t have to reach for the key in the ignition to find out. This isn’t the hotels fault. But it does set the mood somewhat.

I visited this establishment as part of a business trip in 2009 that booked a large number of rooms around Trebic. Trebic itself is well worth a visit with a wonderful museum and lots of other sights to see. This hotel is not representative of this but does a marvellous job of representing everything that some might say is wrong and others would say that is right about the contemporary Czech Republic. It may only be because we were there as part of a large business booking but the timid types should stay well clear if our experience was quite extraordinary. The barmaids in the cellar were topless, there were pole shows and all sorts going on, the beer was cheap, even by Czech standards and whilst the girls were stunning to look at I was worried that it was ultimately all a little bit forced and sad. I'd love to think that these girls were getting paid properly but they probably weren't. Sad. There are several great places to eat around Trebic, sadly none are in this hotel. The best bet is to go out of the hotel onto the main street, turn left and wander along the main street for about 500m and you'll find and incredible pizza restaurant. The Jewish quarter is also worth exploring, some of the cafes are lovely but if you do get the chance to explore then make sure that you take in the Trebic museum,||||I've just realised that I've failed to mention much about the hotel. What can I say? 4* is their aspiration and I commend their efforts to achieve this. In my personal opinion this will not be achieved through the medium of very VERY attractive ladies with little or no clothes on but would be better achieved by increasing the space available to each guest as our room was a little cramped. ||||We only ate at breakfast (except a very late night dinner) and it was consistently average. There are better places to eat locally but the grand will lay something on that will last you until lunchtime.||||If you're looking for 4* luxury then this is not your place. If you're looking for a very average Eastern European hotel where very VERY beautiful girls will serve you booze even though they have forgotten to put their top (and occasionally bottom) on then this is your place ;)

One receptionist super enoyed, second was friendly. The pool had a cloudy water. All the hotel overheated, food ok excluded breakfast sausages...the grey colour really repelled us. Super location but do not forget earplugs, the church bell rings every quarter even during the night.

I booked this hotel based on its location, which is very good. There's good free parking and the room, whilst basic, was ok. There are a couple of areas which concerned me, the first being the terrible smell of gas as you enter the lobby - I even considered finding another hotel when I arrived. I'm still not sure where it was coming from but it was present for the whole of my stay (2 nights). Without a massive investment simple things such as shower gel dispensers in the bathroom (rather than questionable cream and old-fashioned soap) would make a huge difference. It would also be nice to have something in the mini bar (or remove it) and a bottle of water. My TV didn't work, only the radio but I know other rooms didn't have this issue. Breakfast was ok with some different cereals and a small selection of cooked items. I didn't try the swimming pool. The staff were very helpful.||Overall, in my opinion not 4-star (at least not currently) but I haven't been to any others in Czechia recently. I also think it would benefit from a bit of a face lift and solve the smell.

Compared to other 4 Star hotels in Europe that I have stayed in, this hotel falls well short of the mark in a number of areas. ||The hotel advertises itself as having a "fitness centre". It does not. What it does have is an off colour swimming pool which is extremely dimly lit at the best of times, and a sauna that someone has started to construct but not finished. ||Breakfast was sub-standard for the entire time I was there, and swimming in grease. The bar staff were grumpy throughout and, considering the amount of money we spent in the hotel over two and a half weeks could have done more to help. ||My room was not cleaned once during the entire duration of my stay and bedding was not changed. The only interaction with cleaning was having a towel thrown into my doorway every other day. ||If you are unlucky enough to have a room at the front of the hotel, take some noise cancelling headphones as the walls and windows don't stop any noise at all. ||On the plus side, my room was warm when I needed it to be, cool when I needed it to be, and dry. I can't think of many other positives. It is disappointing as with a small amount of work the hotel could be a lot better. ||It is safe to say that I won't be actively looking to return to the "Grand Hotel". ||

During our vacation in Czech republic We stayed in 6 hotels/pensions and this was the worst. Ashes or smoke was almost everywhere and It seems that nobody wants to do something with it including the director. We wanted to eat in hotel restaurant, but there was nothing for vegetarians except smoked cheese with pommes, so We decide to eat somewhere else. After I read this reviews, I can be happy, that I am vegetarian. After first night We decided to leave this place and go to other hotel.
