Grand Hotel Wien

"The 1870 Belle Époque landmark has "a wonderful ambience." Close to the Vienna State Opera and the Imperial Palace, this former headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency is in "the best location in Vienna." Rooms are decorated in Viennese style, with antiques and opulent fabrics; some have private terraces overlooking the city. The 2,400-square-foot Presidential Suite has a full kitchen, a dining room that seats up to eight people, and a marble bathroom with a whirlpool. Le Ciel serves French cuisine, while the Grand Café offers Viennese specialties and traditional pastries. Unkai serves Japanese. Expect "fantastic service from top to bottom."

An excellent hotel. Service is outstanding. Rooms are very comfortable (includes a pillow menu). Full shower, not the half door we see so often in other hotels, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Staff speaks very good English so you’ll have one less thing to worry about. Breakfast buffet has plenty to offer and also includes several dishes you can order (eggs, omelette, pancakes..) Easily walk to all the tourist destinations you’re here to see (Christmas markets!). We are a family of 4 and were able to secure connecting rooms. There was a type of cheese on the cheese cart that was new to me. No one could tell me what it was, but they would ask their colleagues. Eventually a chef comes out to tell me. Shows me a round of the cheese so i can take a pic, then offers me the entire thing! 5 star service. I absolutely recommend the Grand Hotel and i look forward to a visit when its a bit warmer.

I typically don't write reviews but wanted to share our experience at the Grand Hotel. We are Hilton members and usually stay at Flagged hotels however Vienna seemed like an opportunity to soak in some of the grandeur of this historical city. I am sure The Grand Hotel was magnificent in its' day but sadly, it has not been kept up and the age of the property is evident. Especially in Room 619 where we stayed. There was mould in the bathroom shower, so much so that the towels in the bathroom smelled like mould and I asked on two separate occasions for fresh towels because of the smell and asked if housekeeping could please clean the shower. I was always brought clean towels very quickly but no one ever removed the mould. Over our 5 night stay it only grew more. Also, the heat / air control in our room was original to the building and we were unable to manage the room temperature. We were either too cold or too hot. I again, asked for extra duvets which were provided but Reception simply advised, the heat takes time be patient. Upon check out I shared my concerns when asked and upon checking with his supervisor the agent offered me a $25 credit for the movie we had watched. Our final bill was over $4,000.00 CAD so I feel as though Management did not care of our experience as we are tourists and most likely won't be back. We will be back in Vienna because it is a magnificent city and we loved everything about it however we will stay at the Hilton next time.

We just finished a wonderful 4-night stay at the Grand Hotel for the new year and I highly recommend it. I was a bit wary before we arrived due to some negative reviews but it is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location with clean rooms and everyone was extremely kind. We did not take advantage of the breakfast or spa but did enjoy the cozy vibes of the first floor bar/cafe in the evenings. It was also very convenient to have the market and drugstore in the attached mall.

My husband and I chose the Grand Hotel for our wedding reception, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. From the very first inquiry to the planning process and finally the big day, we were continually impressed by the hotel’s professionalism, organization, and support. A very special shout-out goes to Csilla, our event coordinator, whose support was truly invaluable. She was always communicative, quick to respond, and on top of every detail. Thanks to her, everything ran seamlessly, and we felt so well cared for throughout the entire journey. The hotel itself is stunning, and all of our guests were impressed by both the atmosphere and the level of service. The menu was carefully designed with our preferences in mind, and the team went above and beyond to accommodate dietary needs, including vegetarian and vegan options. Everyone raved about the food. We also had the pleasure of adding desserts from the hotel’s pastry chef, which were absolutely delicious. We are deeply grateful to every single person involved in our wedding day for their kindness, dedication, and flawless execution. The Grand Hotel truly exceeded our expectations, and we will cherish the memories forever.

I have been flying to Vienna regularly since 2022, and Grand Hotel Wien has become my go-to hotel. Over the years, I’ve stayed in a variety of their rooms, from the regular options to city views and even suites, and I’ve loved every single one. The rooms are always thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and perfectly maintained. The location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of the city, making it easy to get anywhere. Breakfast is incredible, with a wide selection and à la carte options that elevate the experience. As a coffee addict, I especially look forward to their cappuccino every morning, it’s always a highlight. The hotel bar is also a gem, elegant, welcoming, and with a fantastic atmosphere. Staff throughout the hotel are consistently friendly and professional. On one occasion, due to a flight change, I was even offered a late checkout without hesitation, small gestures like this really make a difference. I’ve tried other 5-star hotels in Vienna, but Grand Hotel Wien suits me best. It’s not only about the luxury and comfort, it’s also the consistency. I know members of the staff who were there when I first stayed in 2022 and are still there today. To me, that’s an indirect but very telling sign of how wonderful the hotel is, not only for guests but also for the people who work there. All in all, Grand Hotel Wien delivers on every level, and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Vienna.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Grand Wien in Vienna. Everything was superb from start to finish. The location is excellent, very central and convenient, and the hotel is beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. The staff are truly exceptional – without a doubt one of the best teams we have ever experienced. Everyone was kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. A very special thank you to Chief Concierge Mr. Walid Marouf. He is absolutely outstanding. His help and recommendations were incredibly helpful. He was always available whenever we needed him and made everything easy for us. He is truly a star ⭐️ We would also like to thank Mr. Yazan at reception. His warm smile, positive attitude, and willingness to always go the extra mile made us feel truly welcome and at home. The breakfast was excellent, with great quality and variety. The gym is lovely and well equipped. Everything was just perfect. The most wonderful team – we will definitely be back.

A Masterclass in Hospitality at the Grand Hotel Wien! Our recent stay from September 19th to 22nd was nothing less than perfection. As seasoned, some might even say connoisseur, travelers, we have high expectations, and the Grand Hotel Wien didn't just meet them—it soared right over them. We had booked a Grand Room, but to our delight, we were graciously upgraded to a full, magnificent suite. And what a suite it was! Beautifully decorated with impeccable taste. The space was astounding, complete with a very handy powder room for guests and a kitchenette that added a wonderful layer of convenience. The service throughout the hotel was exemplary, but the personal attention from the manager truly set this stay apart. As Platinum Elite members, we felt genuinely recognized and valued. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the flawless housekeeping to the anticipatory service from every staff member we encountered. For any discerning traveler who appreciates the finer details, this is your place in Vienna.

Google
A beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and friendly room service. Unfortunately, some things no longer work properly — for example, the bathtubs, some lights turn on and off during the night, and windows sometimes get stuck. I think if the hotel fixed all the small issues that have accumulated over the years, it would truly be a 5-star hotel again — not only in name, but also in quality.

Yelp
This is where we stayed in Vienna, which was part of a larger, multi-country tour by Viking. It was very nice, the breakfast was excellent and the service was impeccable. Also worth noting, you can drink the tap water and the hot water gets very hot (which is good). We also enjoyed the complimentary steam and sauna rooms.

Yelp
From check in to checking out this hotel was top notch! The interior is stunning and opulent. All of the staff we interacted with from registration, concierge, doorman, cleaning and restaurant staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I felt like they really wanted to make our visit special including a handwritten thank you note in both of our hotel rooms. All of the restaurant recommendations from the concierge were amazing. We stopped for drinks and food twice in the Rosengarten restaurant. We thoroughly it enjoyed both times. Sitting outside at night having coffee and dessert is a perfect end to a busy day. I also appreciated the sweets bar in the corner. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
As the lobby Restaurant of Grand Hotel Wien Rosengarten tells a story dating back 150 years, the mansion designed by Carl Tietz still standing proud as a hub of Viennese social life since the days of Johann Strauss. A popular meeting place for both local and international guests, posh seating and windows looking out on Vienna Ringstrasse setting the stage day or night, it is here that many suggest one will find Austria's best Guglhupf offered whole or by the slice. Open 10h00 to 24h00 for composed plates with multicultural influence, though earlier for Pastry, Coffee or Wine, service is attentive yet personable with Espresso served quick alongside Sparkling Water and tiny Chocolate Cookies. Waiting mere moments for items on display in the Pastry case, first Apple Strudel decorated with Breadcrumbs and Golden Raisins, it was after devouring every speck of delicate Puff Pastry that attention focused on Rosengarten's Marble Poundcake - "grand" in every way from the light yet moist crumb to slivered Almonds that mingle with Dark Chocolate.

Yelp
After concert drinks and desert hit the spot. More sitting outside to enjoy the last earth of summer in Vienna. The drinks were great and the deserts wonderful.

Yelp
This is the one place that has not honored a refund request during the Coronavirus crisis. Our trip was planned for months and we paid upfront non refundable back in November. Completely understand non refundable but these are extenuating circumstances. Vienna is shut down and even if you could get there I don't think you could stay in a hotel given restrictions in Austria. But this place won't provide a refund. I take this as a sign of how they treat their guests I will be rebooking my trip hopefully soon but will stay far away from the Grand Hotel and urge you to do the same If they can't do the right thing in a crisis they don't deserve our patronage

Yelp
Jim Vivo If there was a negative star I would give 100 of those. Flying internationally all night and arrive to a cancelled room by the hotel. The hotel was confirmed for late arrival even though I checked in after my flight landed from NYC. I guess that means nothing anymore. And yet they have the nerve to charge a no show charge. Run, do NOT book this hotel. The front desk people are rude and all the managers on up. Again...Run Run Run from this hotel.

Yelp
Although this hotel is technically five-star, we were definitely disappointed by this experience. Location: 5 star The location is right by the city center and main streets. We were just a 10-15 minute walk from st. Stephens and museum quarter. And a stones throw away from the opera house. Concierge: 4 star Friendly, accommodating Room: 3 star Shower water doesn't drain fast enough so there's about a 4-inch deep puddle in just a few minutes Room is fine, nothing spectacular Breakfast buffet: 1 star After the first day, we couldn't go back to the buffet. The selection (including their a la carts options) was tiny and the food was poor quality. Taxis outside: 1 star Hotel bellmen do not vet or help negotiate taxi rides to airport. Gym: 2 star Very small with a few treadmills and one machine that is supposed to have several functions.

Yelp
Spent three nights at the Grand Hotel Wien in a trip to see the Vienna Christmas Markets and it lived up to the Grand Hotel name. I was expecting to be disappointed, often hotels with the facade and reputation of this hotel are tired and living on old glories. That was not the case here. Check in was smooth and the hotel room was a very nice size for an older hotel in the city center. Service was impeccable. Location is great, it was close to everything. Only minor complaint was the a la carte element of the breakfast, it was arguably one star though the buffet was so good it still was a five star breakfast. Steak and eggs sounded great but the steak was a very small sirloin cooked to death. Corned beef hash was ground beef mixed with red and yellow peppers and under-cooked potatoes. The rest of the breakfast was great, though. Hot chocolate was delicious. A Japanese area of the breakfast buffet included great miso soup. The Med part of the buffet had great hummus, baba ghanoush and another spread I had not had before. Cheeses were beautiful. Good pastry. Just avoid the cooked breakfast. Given the location, great rooms and great service, definitely a Grand hotel.

Yelp
Perfect hotel for a romantic get away. Excellent location in the centre of it all. You'll be surrounded by the Christmas markets from November onwards and are directly across from the opera house and famous cake shops and coffee houses. Great service, friendly, welcoming staff. Breakfast was always something to look forward to with excellent selection of fresh fruit, pastires, cereals and hot dishes off the menu. Best omellette ever! Our room had a massive, comfortable bed, excellent facilities - massive TV and I fell in love with the bathroom.

Yelp
Love it here. Feel like I rest well. There's wonderful room service and attendants. Spa and Tour arrangements for all. I enjoy the proximity to so many things to do. Historic and my favorite.

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel over the summer with my mother for about 5 days and would have moved out, except our booking thru an agent did would have still charged us for the time there. The style is a matter of taste - and you can judge by the photos about that. The location was decent and convenient for taxis. The main problem we had, however, was with a concierge, the younger Italian one whose name I cannot remember. Upon arrival, my mother asked him to book us two tickets at the Opera - something that was quite important for us. He immediately suggested the most expensive seats the house - that were hundreds of dollars each. As anyone knows who goes to the theatre, there are generally decent seats that are not necessarily the most expensive seats in the house. She asked for other options and as a result, without elaborating on the quality of the seats, booked two for us. For this service, he received a very hefty commission, nearly doubling the price of the tickets, for seats from which we could not see ONE INCH of the stage. It was so incredibly frustrating, that we ended up leaving after the first act. Instead of apologizing when we told him, he became indignant! He alternately accused us of lying or asking for asking for "cheap" seats and was simply rude. He was arrogant and accusatory rather than respectful and apologetic. We were not asking for money back, but were upset and expected at least an apology. One reason why you stay in a high end hotel is that you expect the concierge will be able to help you with just such things - like knowing what seats have zero visibility in the opera house in Vienna (a location they must book daily!) I don't know what would be worse, that perhaps he didn't know what seats had zero visibility, or that he didn't care. The fact that he was then so rude and disrespectful to my mother (a 75 year-old woman with Parkinson's disease) left an incredibly bad taste in our mouths and truly spoiled the entire experience of staying there.
