Grand Hôtel Wiesler, a Design Boutique Hotel Graz, Austria

"Hotel Wiesler is located in the Old Town of Graz, right by the Mur River and only a short walk from the Schlossberg. Free Wi-Fi is available. The breakfast buffet is served in the Salon Frühling, which features a large Art Nouveau mosaic by Leopold Forstner. The restaurant Speisesaal serves Austrian and international cuisine. Hotel Wiesler features a sauna, a steam bath, and a fitness area, as well as a barber's shop. The Kunsthaus museum and the Mur Island are very close to Hotel Wiesler." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Grand Hotel Wiesler (Graz, Styria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Hotel Wiesler is a wonderfully grand place to stay — but not in the way you’d expect from a hotel that dates from 1909, in an Austrian city best known for its Baroque architecture. Once inside, you’ll find a hotel that makes much of its history, but happily updates it with cheekily modern graphic flourishes, and balances its century-old elegance with casual boutique-style gestures. Underneath it all, of course, it’s as grand as it says it is, just in a contemporary way; Salon Marie, the versatile restaurant and bar, handles everything from a hearty breakfast to a semi-formal dinner and cocktails after." - Tablet Hotels

Three of us, including an 11YO, stayed for two nights and loved the visit. The staff was friendly. The hotel was clean. The room was simple and clean. The breakfast was legendary. The location was perfect. I will nitpick the early morning building operation noises that happened in our room both mornings, but I would stay at the hotel again without question. We all had a great experience.

Good central location but nowhere welcoming as a lounge for residents to sit and spend time or have a coffee. No atmosphere, very strange entrance. All very shabby chic hiding fairly average rooms, disappointing if you have a standard room. Feels grubby and it all needs a makeover.|Breakfast over priced go to Kunsthaus cafe 3 mins away which is brilliant,( It also has good vegetarian options) but book at weekends it's very popular. It'll cost the same for two as one hotel breakfast and you will love it!

Great hotel in a central location. Visited with my sons for a football match. Managed to get a spacious 3 bedded room. Able to book in early AM and great service from the young lady at check in. Hotel had great character, tastefully decorated to a good standard. Bar and public areas were great as well

Realy great hotel, with spacious rooms and on a 2 minutes walkf from Graz city centre. Friendly service, excellent quality breakfast and dinner arrangements. Many thanks to Mario for letting us feel welcome every night. I can truly recommend this hotel

Total disgrace ! One elevator didn’t work. The wall needed to be painted . The floor of my room 308 looks like a roller skating rink full of luggage tracks. The room cleaning is substandard. Worst and the worst of the worse is the WiFi didn’t work well. It was unstable going from no internet to 1 bar to 2 bars in my antenna to no internet to 1 bar to no internet. The bathroom door is transparent . The receptionists were all very nice. The hotel manager and the company that manages this hotel need to stay there themselves to experience what I experienced. My advice. Don’t waste money on this hotel. Go somewhere. else. Update. I am now in Plitvice Lakes National Park. I am staying in guest house. The WiFi in the middle of nowhere is much better than the this place which is in the capital of Styria .

Stayed 3 nights at Grand Hotel Wiesler. Across the river to old town centre, the location is hard to beat. Our bright and spacious room faced the inner courtyard on the 6th floor with a view over the adjacent rooftops which allowed for quiet & restful nights. This is an older but uniquely updated hotel with very warm hallways and rooms - we had to sleep with the windows ajar in late October! Fluffy & warm down comforters, but down pillows unfortunately lacked our preferred neck support. Basic amenities with dispenser shower/hair shampoo, and as other reviewers mentioned, an additional luggage rack or a simple wardrobe/cabinet/bench by the entry coat rail would be functionally appreciated for guestrooms (see pic of how - by day 2 - we had to hang our clothes on the lone clothes rail with no closet/wardrobe space available) There is also an in-room coffee pod dispenser but unfortunately no kettle to boil water for tea. Salon Marie restaurant on premises is lovely - pricey- but a popular spot for breakfast & dinner. Overall, great location for a comfortable and quaint stay

Google
Restaurant great, location great, service poor. We had a junior suite that looked great in photos with its bath in the window but as a guest it reminded me very much of when I lived in a squat in the 1970s, although not quite as homely. Apart from the high quality bath and toilet, everything is very cheap and shabby (not chic) and made as awkward as possible for guests with no en-suite bathroom - just the parts of the bathroom spread over 3 of the four corners of the room including a shower in the corner with just a flimsy curtain between it and the TV. No milk or creamer for coffee even after asking at reception and leaving them a written note. I don’t normally give bad reviews but the hotel themselves asked me for feedback giving me this link rather than wanting a personal response. (They didn’t ask ‘how was your stay’ when I checked out.)

Arrived by bicycle after a long damp ride into Graz. Very good location near to major sights, station etc.|Warmly welcomed and safe bike storage sorted for us. Large room with separate wash basin and shower. Large comfortable bed. Decor, stripped back walls, didn't do it for us, we have a spare bedroom at home that we haven't finished that looks the same. It's a personal thing.|Breakfast excellent as was service and very comfortable lounge.|Staff very friendly and professional throughout.

Yelp
First impression when I entered this hotel was WOW. Its an old building with very modern decorations. Looks clean and high end. Mick Jagger stayed there, along with many local celebrities, actors, I think even Schwarzenegger had a room there... Conveniently located near downtown Gratz, everything is basically within a walking distance. That's about it. Here is a list of cons that really bothered me during my stay: - My room was in between 2 floors thus forcing me to carry my (very heavy) luggage to my room. not cool when you have 50 pounds luggage in both hands and you just arrive after a 19 hours trip. - Bed is on the floor. Elevated floor but no spring box. It makes it really hard to lay down if you have a bad back/knee. You literally have to "crawl" to bed. This was extremely annoying. (The room looks like an IKEA demo bedroom. Nice looking but you can tell it's a bit cheap and very fake.) See here: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hotel-wiesler-graz?select=V3cM2cvs93iztzinxaEefQ - After the cleaning lady came to my room: - PUBIC HAIRS showed up by the head of the bed! (and those were certainly NOT mines!!!) See here: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hotel-wiesler-graz?select=t9f1LWyO4h9IHvesaKYGIw - She unplugged my iPad and removed the charger from the power outlet...huh... who touches customer's property like this? my tablet was therefore not charged when I got back to my room. Unacceptable. - You can't walk around the buffet in the breakfast room. Nice breakfast but the space b/w the buffet and the chairs/tables is so small that 2 people can't 'cross' without bumping into seated customers (r bumping into each other). Many frustrated customers. A mess. - The room has stickers that actually threaten customers in case of bad behavior (Thieves are pigs... smoking in the room and you'll be joined by very angry firemen...etc) This is childish, offensive for well behaving customers. it's like judging people on their intents. I feel it's very disrespectful. They can just say "no smoking" or "the hairdryer is yours for $100"... See here: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hotel-wiesler-graz?select=IBrdgZFwhMitMKuvQW1XQQ The man at the front desk was quite rude when talking to me. I won't go back
