Grand Hyatt Berlin

"This modern sandstone hotel in a mixed-use development, designed by José Rafael Moneo, is in an "amazing location" just steps away from the Potsdamer Platz U-Bahn station and a short walk to the site of the Berlin Wall. Minimalist but "well-appointed, beautiful rooms" have cherrywood and marble, along with Bang & Olufsen flat-screen televisions. Design elements include a crystal-shaped roof light, Lebanese cedarwood, black granite, stucco posts, backlit alabaster walls, and a large atrium lobby. At Vox, guests dine on sushi while watching Berlin’s largest show kitchen in action; its bar stocks more than 240 whiskeys. Restaurant Mesa has leather-coated tables and a German menu."

Grand Hyatt Berlin (Berlin, Germany) 3 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It would be easy to mistake this place for a Tokyo hotel, with its Zen-inflected interiors and Japanese-style overflowing tubs, not to mention Helmut Jahn’s sleek and towering Sony Center next door—but this is not Shibuya, but rather Potsdamer Platz, the Wall-era no-man’s-land turned commercial hub, the bustling, futuristic heart of today’s Berlin." - Tablet Hotels

The location is great - close to food, shops, and public transit. You can get to basically anywhere in Germany or Europe from just a couple hundred feet from the hotel. The room is nice with power blinds and single control lights. The bathroom is also nice with a full tub in the shower area. Definitely would recommend for a Berlin stay.

We recently spent several days in Berlin for the first time, and the Grand Hyatt was an excellent haven in the city. Everything from check-in through check-out was perfect. We had a well-appointed room on the sixth floor. I especially appreciated the bathing tub in the shower and steam room combination with full size personal care products from Balmain Paris. There is a large, flat panel, TV and small one in the bathroom as one would expect. We had the ability to completely open the windows facing an interior courtyard space. The mini refrigerator was stocked. Our sleep quality was high throughout the stay. The closet space was ample. The laundry service was turned around in the same day and carefully done. We did not try the small cafe off of the lobby, nor did we partake in breakfast at the hotel. We enjoyed the VOX restaurant for coffee and dining (see my separate review). The VOX service is excellent. If I had to pick on one thing, it might be the smaller size of the lobby which isn't terribly impressive, and I am used to the bar being in the lobby itself. However, the rest of the hotel makes up for this, and I would recommend the Grand Hyatt Berlin to discriminating travelers.

Google
Overall not quit the same standard comparing with the Hyatt hotels in North America and some other parts of the world that I have been, but the staff are friendly and professional, the room is really nice, especially the bathroom that is beautiful. It’s at a perfect location, convenient to walk or take public transport everywhere. There are also many restaurants near by with different cuisine choices. Had an issue with the bill a few days after check out, got charged for minibar items that we did not consume. But the hotel management immediately made correction after my feedback, much appreciated.

We spent a weekend at the Grand Hyatt Berlin as a couple, and everything was flawless from start to finish. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is warm, professional, and truly welcoming.||||The spa area was spotless, calm, and incredibly relaxing – a perfect place to unwind. The Club Lounge snack and the breakfast were both excellent, with great variety and quality.||||Most of all, the staff made the difference: attentive, competent, and genuinely friendly in every department.||||A wonderful stay in every way – we left fully recharged and will definitely return!

Google
Great location. Very nice and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Unfortunately wasn’t able to enjoy the cocktail hour at the Club Lounge because it was too crowded, but breakfast was decent. One of my favorite places to stay in Berlin.

Google
The Grand Hyatt Berlin was in a good location. There are restaurants and a Plaza nearby. There's also always cans waiting outside. While they do accept cards (tap to pay), they prefer cash so confirm before taking the ride. There's a restaurant on the first floor. Rooms are well lit and have a decent amount of outlets. Bathroom has both tub and shower. Thermostat was not working. But the room was cool enough. You get two complimentary bottles of water a day. Did not choose the breakfast option, so cannot speak on that. Staff is friendly.

Google
The gym and pool were very good! The rooms were very nice and quiet. Until you had to open the window because the air conditioner doesn't work. Then street noise is part of your life. This is unexceptionable. I don't care where you are. They brought us fans after changing rooms didn't help much.

Google
My stay was very pleasant. We arrived early and the use of the club level lounge was available to us until our rooms were ready. The breakfast selection was vast. The staff were very helpful at reception and breakfast and the club level lounge.

Yelp
Wow what a great location. We had a late night out and when we returned we went into the bar which had live music. The young man playing the piano is quite accomplished. His repertoire was phenomenal & set a great mood. The service was top notched. The next day we grabbed a light lunch and the service & food were solid. Maybe one of the best Caesar salads I've enjoyed. The rooms have everything. Nice sleek design & the bathroom is nicely designed. I prefer private room for the toilet- if possible. And the coffee bar is quaint & the baristas aim to please. Plus there's outdoor seating. Even the doorman was a pro. He practically walked us all the way to our dinner reservation down the street so we wouldn't get lost. Can you believe that? What an unexpected perfect stay.

Yelp
Truly outstanding. Maybe one of the best Grand Hyatt's in the portfolio. From the incredibly stylish rooms and hotel interiors to the spa and sauna facilities, this hotel is by far my favourite in Berlin. Having also stayed at most other upscale hotels in Berlin, I can safely say that the Hyatt wins out in terms of service, facilities and comfort. Located nearby both the S Bahn and U Bahn stations, you can easily get around and the RE train from Brandenburg Airport has direct connectivity to the hotel. The lounge area has been moved to the lobby and Globalists/Suite holders enjoy complimentary afternoon tea, drinks and breakfast (although breakfast is in Vox). This was my second stay and it was better than the first.

Yelp
The room was excellent, the bed was so so and kinda swayed and was unbalanced. The spa was disappointing as the hot tub was not even warm and the timer was very short so you had to get out and restart it about every 5 minutes. The young tattooed lady behind the spa desk was the most friendly and kind person we encountered over our 2 day stay. The breakfast downstairs was below expectations as service was very slow and the chef could not cook over easy eggs. They came out after about 15 minutes and were scorched brown and I wouldn't have served them even as well done eggs. The waiter promised he'd get them recooked in less than 3 minutes but it took more like 10 minutes again and they were better but still over cooked and brown on one side. Black olives were present for breakfast but no blueberries? Potato wedges and mushrooms were located on the far side of the restaurant away from the eggs and sausage not sure why. Coffee service was slow and came by the cup and each time we wanted a refill we had to wait for the coffee to be made again. The hallways are not pleasantly decorated and they do remind you of Star Trek hallways. Housekeeping was great even though they kept knocking on our door when we did not request anything. The location was great and close to everything you could ask for.

Yelp
Clean & spacious rooms, conveniently located, accommodating and friendly staff... everything you look for in a hotel. The Grand Hyatt Berlin is my go to hotel when in Berlin. If you're a Hyatt member this is a category 4 hotel when using points. There is a club lounge for globalists and at-least 3 restaurant/ bars in the lobby for everyone. Also a huge fitness area and spa options. conveniently there is a mall across the street with a grocery store downstairs if you want snacks or water. The Metro stations are less than 5 minutes walk. Note: pay attention to their cancelation policy though it is quite strict

Yelp
Ahmazing!! Platinum member perks are beyond!! And if you're not one, it's on too. This place gave me the best sleep, incredible spa and single best breakfast buffet in Europe!! They have a newly remodeled wing/floor for the platinum members. I guess travel addiction do paid off. The room was stunning. Massive King bed, perfectly monochromatic colors, stunning and super fun rainforest shower! The bathroom amenities plus the tv in every room. Toiletries! Turn down service! Ok you get the point. I thought Park hyatt Tokyo was amazing, this one beats it out of the park. Location : you can't get any more central than this in Berlin. It's across from the shopping complex, train stations, few blocks from the the world war museums. .8 miles from the haunting Jewish memorials. In winter, they have winter markets right outside the mall with snowboarding. It's fun. The hotel itself is beautiful. I didn't want to leave the room. Breakfast buffet : it's not your average buffet. I hate buffets in general for the lines, chaos and sense of urgency. It is anything but here. White linens, soft classical music, many different stations set up and moving quietly in harmony. They'll bring you anything you'd like to drink. You can get bottomless champagne, and many amazing juices from the fresh fruit station. No joke: the BEST apple juice of my life!! I mean each glass only took like a dozen apples. And I had 5 glasses. Cheeses, eggs and pastries were all amazing but that apple juice though!! Amazing!! Oh yea: it's also 75 euros per person for that breakfast!! Aside from having to sell my kidney for that amazing breakfast, I love this hotel. Everything was smooth, swift, attentive, plush, luxurious and then some!! Best part~ the spa overlooking entire city! Winter time aka Jan/Feb: you can sit in the hot tub while it snows. Talk about amazing!! You'll sleep like a baby after.

Yelp
I'm a Hyatt fan. This is a great hotel located in a great area and is near the bus station. We upgraded to Club level when we arrived, which was fantastic. The room was a nice size with a king bed, huge bathroom, heated flooring, a nice view and everything was very clean. The hotel has a trendy bar and two restaurants onsite, both of which offer excellent dining options and superb service. Service throughout the hotel, from front desk reception to housekeeping and everything in-between, was terrific. Love this hotel.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel! I can't say enough great things about this place... everyone from the valets to the janitors were extremely friendly, helpful, & efficient. All of the hosts & waitresses were amazing. Food was phenomenal! Wish I could have thanked the cooks personally. The ladies at the spa, also very helpful & welcoming. I had the best massage ever! Had an amazing time relaxing and truly enjoyed the beautiful views of Berlin at sunset. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Excellent stay, modern decor, friendly staff. This is the perfect location! It's so close to everything and right next to Potsdamer Platz (Mall of Berlin and Sony Center). I enjoyed my stay. They do exchange currency for a 7% commission. I honestly felt it was comparable to going to the central train station, so you could save yourself a walk and exchange it there. I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in Berlin!

Yelp
I really liked it here. I have stayed in 6 different hotels in the last 1 1/2 months and this was the best by far because of the room and the service. I emailed the hotel in advance for an allergen-free room and when I checked into the hotel the room was actually ready. This hasn't happened at any hotel in the world in years. They were also super friendly and nice when they checked me in. The rest of Germany, not so much. The room was also really nice. They also gave me two pillows. The other hotels stuck me with one lousy flat pillow. The room is really nice and spacious and the bathroom was amazing and easy to use. The shower had great pressure and was designed so the rest of the bathroom didn't get wet afterwards. They also designed the window coverings so light didn't get in when you closed the drapes. There are also 4 plugs near the nightstand so you can actually charge all your electronics. It's almost 2020 and 99% of hotels still have window coverings that don't shut completely or have outlets near the bed. The only thing I wish were a little better is I wish they dusted more thoroughly and vacuumed a little better. Will be staying here again.

Yelp
One of my favorite Hyatt properties globally! The Grand Hyatt Berlin has nice rooms, excellent location, great food and very friendly staff. I visited this Hyatt multiple times and they really made me feel at home on the most recent visit. In past years, I've stayed at other five star hotels in Berlin but still prefer the Grand Hyatt. Whenever I travel, very reliable high speed internet is a huge priority for my work and this Hyatt had as good of a connection as anywhere I've experienced.

Yelp
I stayed here many years ago and never wrote a review. A friend just lost something at another place and this triggered a memory. When I checked out I left ALL my jewelry in the hotel room. Nicely stored in an HStern box on the long desk/ counter. Off to the airport we went. When I checked in I freaked out. Unreal. I called the front desk, they contacted room service retrieved the box and sent someone to the airport via taxi cab! I never forgot it. Excellent service. Not only are the rooms beautiful and the hotel top notch. It's a place you can trust. I would not stay anywhere else!

Yelp
There's a reason why I try to find a Hyatt location whenever I have to travel- I can typically trust that the quality and customer service is consistent and top-notch wherever I go. As soon as our taxi pulled up to the entrance, the Hyatt staff greeted us and in typical Hyatt fashion and helped us with our bags and my son's stroller car seat, offering to send our luggage up to the room. It's a familiar process but always a nice touch and great first impression, especially after a long journey. The hotel is in a fantastic location and just a few steps away from shopping, restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, an IMAX movie theater, etc. We were upgraded to to a King room which was spacious and beautiful (and the shampoo and soap amenities were a nice touch.) The breakfast buffet is great- the breakfast in German Hyatts tend to be superior to other breakfasts I've been to. I have to especially give credit to the restaurant staff- they were really excellent. We ate dinner at the Vox restaurant, and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive, especially to my one-year old son. I'm usually nervous taking my child to restaurants, especially to more elegant restaurants like Vox, but the waitstaff was very kind and welcoming to us and doing everything to make sure we were comfortable. (Offering a little stool for our handbags was also a nice touch!) The pool and spa area are great, and I highly recommend this hotel for both business trips and family vacations. I look forward to our next stay there!

Yelp
The rooms are excellent, the staff was very nice. I was here for a conference and I had nice interactions with the staff. The rooms are very nice, modern, and clean. There is fresh fruit in the room and bottles of water. The bathroom is swanky, but there is little water pressure. The waitstaff was slow, forgetful, and easily overwhelmed. The bar at Vox was particularly slow, and often rude. They are easily overwhelmed. Overall I'd stay here again, eat elsewhere.

Yelp
I am a diamond Hyatt member and it is, for me, a relationship of love not convenience. I hold diamond status at four other brands but have been thoroughly win over by Hyatt. Still, I am a tough grader of hotels. This particular Hyatt is rated a five star facility but I give it four. And this is solely due to the slightly outdated condition of certain parts of the hotel. Notably, the hallway in the seventh floor looks like a spacious version of a star trek ship. (I don't particularly like Star Trek). This was a matter of taste, however, as my husband fancied it (but again, not Star Trek). The lobby is in no better condition, a relic from its founding in 1997. A small housekeeping note ... a dropped towel lay on the floor by our room in the hallway for most of the day! Housekeeping is quite on top of things here so I am surprised. Due to a cancelled flight, we spent an unexpected night in a second room. I can say with authority that the mattresses are a bit saggy and the pillows are substandard. Secondly, the appetizers and treats in the lounge are not quite the quality they should be, although the help in that space is fabulous, friendly and efficient. Last week, I stayed in the Hamburg park Hyatt and experienced there what a member lounge can be ... the food was so good we opted to not eat outside for dinner twice. The hours of Hamburg operations were more accommodating for sleep ins and leisurely walks before dessert course. There was a smoked quail on puréed spinach dish there that left me dreaming about it fir days after. Perhaps I caught the Berlin Hyatt chef on his week off? I will take this opportunity to compliment the staff of this hotel. Hyatt has harnessed the natural inclinations of the German people for excellence, friendliness and efficiency and added a good dose of it into its recipe for fantastic stays for thousands of guests. Thank you again, Hyatt!

Yelp
A really great hotel located right off Potsdamer Platz. The staff were really nice and helpful. Close to shopping, restaurants and sights.

Yelp
Clean, has a good air conditioning system. The minus was the bed. Too tough made me feel like someone kicked my ribs every morning. For Europe this is amazing place. I have updated my review since the manager added a comment and showed me how this is truly a 5 star stay. I will request the soft topper next time. Thank you

Yelp
Vey surprised how nice this hotel is. It's more like s park Hyatt property. Huge rooms and convenient location next to potsdamer platz bahn. Parking is 25euro a night only. Highly recommended if you have Hyatt points to spend.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite international hotels. The rooms are amazing. Extremely modern and functional. Bang & Olufsen TVs in the rooms and a bathroom TV too! The bathroom is very well appointed, and though slightly understocked it still has everything you'd need, just in less than expected quantities. The beds are very comfortable. I slept very well both nights and had no trouble falling asleep. Something I cannot say about the competitor the Novotel. All of the employees speak a decent level of English and the location is ideal for visiting everything. A quick bus ride in either direction gets you to Museum Island, the other direction, the zoo. You can walk to the Brandenburg Gate and grab some supplies at the mall. Everything is within walking distance if you don't mind walking a mile or so, but all the walks are enjoyable. It's also near a McDonald's, which is only important because it's in Germany. And they have the famos, or should i say infamous, McBir. McDonald's 'quality' beer. Something everyone has to try. I will update this review including food and if the room is made to my specifications (special bathroom request from last time) after my next trip, this summer.
google avatar

Rebeca M.

Yelp
A wonderful experience at a luxury hotel. The room was ultra comfortable (gotta love the heated bathroom floors and remote-control blackout shade!) and the spa/workout room was lovely. Internet was fast. The artwork everywhere was amazing. They have quite the spread in the Club lounge, and the attendants were sweet and attentive, albeit a bit too formal for my taste. Though I'm sure if they erred on the side of being too casual, some business dude would complain about that... heh. What can I say, I'm a chick who wears combat boots and usually prefers to hang out with the "riffraff" but every now and then I need to treat myself, and this is quite the hotel for that. There was only one snafu with my entire stay involving miscommunication about a personal training session at the gym. However, I was highly impressed that their Director of Rooms not only emailed me, but also CALLED me (overseas!) upon my return to apologize and make sure everything had been made up to me. The hotel is easily accessible to lots of public transport, and as another reviewer pointed out, the mall is super close if you need to grab snacks or other items. I am looking forward to booking another stay with them this summer!

Yelp
This is a very very nice hotel. The room although not overly large was very well appointed. Very comfortable King size bed, a beautiful bathroom. nice lighting and desk. Bang and Olafssun television and the electric blinds open to a view of the Potsdamer Platz shopping district which is a great central location in down town Berlin. The hotel itself is beautiful throughout and the staff very welcoming. The Wi-fi is quick and easy to connect which some hotels miss this important feature when travelling for business.

Heart A.

Yelp
No one answers the phone at the front desk. Room cleanliness poor. Same bath soap x 3 days. Very expensive for poor service. Loud party at 3:30PM making sleep impossible after a long flight. Never cleaned the room today!
google avatar

Yelp
You are here because you want to be in the nice, businessy, trendy area. The staff I saw or dealt with spoke and understood English, they were very professional in appearance and conduct. The hotel is decorated in a very modern style, and the rooms were pretty large for European standards. Maybe I m American about this but Bang & Olufsen TVs ?? really??, they have a little screen on a swivel in the bathroom so you don't miss out on the action but they have a speaker in the bathroom. I m just amused with the small features. The room is the same high quality of a Grand Hyatt you have come to expect, but than again you are paying for it. The Vox Bar has a pretty awesome whiskey selection, when I was there they had Booker's Bourbon, sure it cost as much as a bottle back in the States but if you have being in Europe a long time it is worth the treat.

Yelp
Best location to be in! Beautiful hotel and great atmosphere. Loved our time here wish we had more time. We'll be back for sure! Til we meet again GH Berlin!

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience. Hyatt is our go-to hotel chain and this stay did not disappoint. We stayed here for 2 nights before/after the Berlin Marathon and the close location made it worth every penny. We did stay here using points because this place is very pricey.. but worth the cost. We also used one of our diamond level suite upgrades and so our experience may not be all that typical. The rooms aren't the most modern in design, but they are very comfortable. The bathroom is incredible spacious and includes a shower room with a tub, and double sinks. A nice perk that there is also a TV in the bathroom so you don't have to miss a second :) The lounge on the 7th floor had a great spread. Salmon, meats, and cheeses during the happy hour and a variety of beer and wines. Breakfast was pastry central with dozens of choices, as well as meats and cheeses. They also have non-alcoholic beverages available at all times too and it was well stocked. Service was a bit stiff, but provided us with anything we asked for. The pool on the 8th floor is only accessible via the Olympus Lift which was confusing at first, but worth it. The pool has incredible views of the city and had a constant flow of lap swimmers. The hot tub doesn't get too hot and the jacuzzi button is annoying to get out and hit every time, but is that a problem you can really even complain about? :) We didn't use the gym (since we were there for the marathon), but it looked state of the art. Almost jealous I didn't get to try it out. Our only complaint for the stay is that Saturday night had a function in the courtyard and we could hear it late in the night from the 5th floor (we had a courtyard facing room). The hotel is also located next to a TON of food options and the Sony Center. The mall across the street also has a grocery store in the basement so it is a great place to buy booze, food or candy as souvenirs. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a central location to all the major tourist attractions in the city (Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial) as well as to the starting line of the Berlin Marathon.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel at every level. Impeccable service, great rooms, comfortable beds. As good as it was 15 years ago when I first stayed in Berlin. Great central location. I wish I had more time.

Ashleigh E.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. Absolutely beautiful, modern property and every single person we came in contact with was pleasant and helpful. Check in was a breeze and the man who helped us (Florian I think was his name) gave us all sorts of great tips regarding public transport and nearby venues. We got to the room (which was gorgeous!) to a personalized note and homemade chocolates on the table. Oh and those heated bathroom floors I'll never forget! The pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic. We went to Vox each night for drinks and Roberto was our Bartender. My Husband is also a bartender at a five star, AAA five diamond property and he was blown away at how great Roberto was - friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and made a damn good drink! We will definitely be back here.

Yelp
Club Olympus on the top floor of Hyatt has the best Shiatsu-therapist: Ms. Mirjam Wagner. It doesnt matter if you are just physically stressed or have something on your heart - she will heal you. The treatments are definitely worth every cent.

Yelp
Amazing location and the rooms are top notch. Modern and functional. The rooftop pool and spa is quite an experience. The staff was nice enough to let us check in early. The lounge upstairs is very chic and has attentive staff.

Yelp
Best Hotel, Restaurant and Bar all in one so far. Amazing good service and atmosphere. Good prices. Very tasty and a beautiful place. I love it to be here every time.

Yelp
great service, amazing bar, amazing rooms, great location (though touristy), tiergarten's near by, casino across the way, kick a$$ gym/spa.
