My daughter and I stayed in a Club room at Grand Hyatt Melbourne to celebrate each of our birthdays. The Club is a great asset to us as our time there was a working holiday. We were able to enjoy the substantial breakfast each day, refreshments as we worked in the lounge throughout the day, and a great variety of canapes each evening as we relaxed with our wine. On 2 mornings we enjoyed the breakfast buffet in Collins Kitchen. It is a beautiful room and the selection of foods is amazing. We found the staff throughout the hotel to be friendly and helpful. The location at the top of Collins Street is perfect for shopping, visit to the Art Gallery, Theatre and close to beautiful Fitzroy Gardens. Our room was quiet, had a beautiful view of the city, and we were thrilled each morning to see hot air balloons take to the sky. Loved it and look forward to returning.

I must had been unlucky and got a dodgy room because there is loads of good reviews on here but they don’t match my experience. |1/ First night (of 6 unfortunately) realised I would need ear plugs to get any sleep due to thin walls and very noisy plumbing. In addition the bedroom door is cut 20mm too short so any noise on the landing (cleaners or people coming back late / going out early) is clearly heard. (I used a rolled up towel to try and block that out)|2/ The AC didn’t work during night one and woke up with a terrible sore throat presumably from leaky air con chemicals or dirty air filter. So I left that off for the rest of my stay. |3/ The toilet flush broke but being handy I fixed it. Inside the toilet cistern was rank. Like dirt and slim from 40 years ago. |4/ The sink drain was mostly blocked but after the toilet cistern there was no way I was going to fix that!|5/ when you are in the bath you can see all the dirt and dust under the sink and up on the light units. |6/ The carpet was how old?|7/ Swimming pool was so dirty, used on e, never went back|8/ The staff were helpful and friendly. I’m sure if I had had more time and raised these problems with the front desk they would have moved me to another room but I only needed a place to sleep, not hangout in so it didn’t seem worth the hassle. |Will I return, no. I booked a 5-star hotel for a good night’s rest and got 3-star at best. Bring ear plugs, don’t turn on the AC and never look inside the toilet cistern.

It was a nice hotel. Our room had a beautiful river view, and the scenery was amazing. The hotel is a bit old but very clean and well maintained. Overall, I was quite satisfied with my stay. The room service was fast and efficient.

The staff was fantastic — genuinely welcoming and attentive. The lounge food was delicious, with wonderful views to match. The location made it easy to get around and explore nearby attractions, and the gym was excellent. Everything felt smooth and well cared for. Would happily stay again.

Loved everything about this experience! The hotel is lovely, staff is so friendly and helpful and every detail is thought of. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had in the world. Room service was delicious and super quick. The hotel also offers complimentary access to a fully equipped gym next to it.

Had a wonderful time. Service by a staff member named Ruben was exceptional. He overheard us as we heard others at another location singing happy birthday. I was celebrating my 60th birthday and we commented. He then surprised me with a happy birthday plate. Ordered drinks were timely and atmosphere comfortable. Rooms lovely. Only issue we saw was carpet worn and needing attention in lounge area of room. View fantastic of river.

Extremely Disappointed by Grand Hyatt Melbourne’s Service and Handling of Lost Item I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne recently and had a very disappointing experience with their service after check-out. Yesterday, I accidentally left an Hermès jacket — a very distinctive and valuable piece worth more than $5,000 — in the wardrobe of my room. I realised it within an hour later when I arrived at the airport and immediately contacted the hotel. The staff told me the room hadn’t been cleaned yet and that housekeeping would get in touch with me shortly. However, I received no follow-up at all for the rest of the day. Even today, after more than 24 hours, I still hadn’t heard anything until I proactively contacted the hotel again myself. Shockingly, I was told they were still “waiting for housekeeping to respond.” I find it hard to believe that a room checked out at noon yesterday could remain uncleaned for an entire day. What’s more disappointing is that the hotel made no effort to reach out to me on their own — I had to chase them repeatedly for any information, and when they finally replied, all I received was a brief, perfunctory apology. This is absolutely not the level of professionalism, care, or accountability one would expect from a five-star hotel under the world of Hyatt branding. The entire experience has left me deeply disappointed and questioning the hotel’s service standards.

My spouse and I travel a great deal and have experienced many hotels. This hotel is a “top three hotel” in our book! The staff was superb, attentive, kind, and the building was immaculately clean. The breakfast every morning was enormous and fit for a king. The conference area was spacious and the audio/visual set up could not have been better. We were thoroughly impressed with every single aspect of this hotel and could not recommend it any stronger. If you come to Melbourne, you have to stay here.

Yelp
Customer service, cleanliness, furnitures that are always in pristine condition, location(Close to Flinders street station)... Everything is top notch. These are why I keep coming back here. I think I've stayed with 3 times so far.

Yelp
Just wrapped up an incredible 3-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne from June 18th to June 21st. Initially booked a standard two-twin-bed room using a Hyatt Guest of Honor Award and were delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade to a 1 King Deluxe room on the 32nd floor, just one below the highest. The hotel staff provided a comfortable rollaway bed for the kids, adding to our comfort. We also had access to the Grand Club on the 31st floor, where the friendly and accommodating staff made our experience even more special. We enjoyed delicious daily breakfasts and evening cocktails/snacks with a wide variety of options, often having the lounge all to ourselves. The hotel's amenities were top-notch, including complimentary access to the fitness club on the 8th floor with a gym, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. Its prime location on Collins Street made exploring Melbourne's chic shops and fine eateries a breeze. Special thanks to Darren, the Director of Rooms, for providing a memorable experience and a complimentary amenity, as well as Richie, Mina, Lux, James, Hannah, and Kim at the Grand Club for making us feel like VIPs throughout our stay. We had an amazing time and can't wait to return! Highly recommend this property for anyone visiting Melbourne.

Yelp
Back when the current version of the Grand Hyatt Melbourne was unveiled, I'm sure it was considered something special. While its dress circle location and imposing structure still impress, today this property is woefully out of date. Technologically, the hotel is a blast from the past, from the direct-dial buttons on the phones that don't work to the lack of power outlets anywhere useful to guests. Our suite included an imposing desk with no power points nearby and a king-size bed with just one outlet on one side, zero on the other. When I asked for a solution so we could both charge our devices within reach from bed, we were offered a power strip with a 3-foot cord -- an accessory of absolutely no use. Aesthetically, the property feels strikingly similar to the hotels and apartments we knew when we lived in Hong Kong -- in the early 2000s. Heaps of marble and chrome that would have been described as glitzy -- even glamorous -- back then. Today they just read as tacky remnants of the copy-cat look of Chinese "luxury" properties of that era. Then there's the gym. The Grand Hyatt Melbourne includes its own commercial gym that sells memberships to locals. While the size and variety of equipment are indeed impressive for a hotel, like so much else about this property, much of the machinery also appears to be from another era. Most guests who take their fitness seriously have long ago moved on to updated, smarter-designed gym gear. We are big fans of Hyatt hotels and count several Park Hyatt and Grand Hyatt properties as some our favorites around the world -- which is why we were gobsmacked at how disappointing we found the Grand Hyatt Melbourne to be. Either Hyatt as hotel operator is asleep at the switch here, or their owner-partner is too tight with the funds to keep the hotel current.

Yelp
Loved my stay at the Grand Hyatt. Excellent location in the heart of the CBD, with plenty of shopping, restaurants and coffee within walking distance. The gym is also top notch. If you're looking at the Park Hyatt vs the Grand Hyatt, I highly recommend the Grand. It's more posh/modern and less stuffy. It also has a far better location and amenities.

Yelp
For a very short work trip to Melbourne, the Grand Hyatt fit the bill nicely for my temporary home away from home. -- A regal entrance (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/grand-hyatt-hotel-melbourne?select=Z2Jus7xAozJqxb5ooe4EKA#Z2Jus7xAozJqxb5ooe4EKA) -- Spacious lobby with clean lines and a modern feel -- Strong wi-fi to get some work (and yelping) done -- Dark and cozy bar with friendly staff and large faces (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/grand-hyatt-hotel-melbourne?select=f70ku2FEilQxPbCl4c8QNg#hZxFBdc3I0xf9i8fMpSryQ) -- Delicious buffet breakfast My only issue here was getting my initial room on the back side of the noisy elevator. After 5 minutes of "rumbling" noises I knew it wouldn't work. But switching rooms was no problem at all. (Good thing I hadn't unpacked much). Easy peasy. I hope to stay here again, and maybe for more than 3 days. That flight is a killer!

Yelp
Really enjoyed my stay here. Was in town for a wedding, staying with my boyfriend. Our room was not huge but well appointed. The full wall of windows overlooked a basketball court and some buildings downtown. The neighborhood has lots of great restaurants nearby. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Against my better judgement I plugged my American hair straightener into the outlet in the restroom, and it promptly melted. As quickly as the metal plates sunk into the plastic, my mood started to melt! I needed to touch up my blowout before going to the wedding, where I was meeting my boyfriend's extended family. I called downstairs, and the woman said they had a straightener available, if no one else was using it. I explained my predicament, and it was brought to my room within 15 minutes. The Hyatt saved my hair, my day, and, at least for that night/week, my relationship!

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Grand Hyatt for our two nights. A few service hiccups that were resolved, but the one that really stands out was the night shift running check-in, who almost went out of their way to make our experience miserable. The first front desk agent shouldn't have been in a position that requires guest interaction, and the manager was pretty inept as well. After 10 hours on the road to get there, we didn't feel like dealing with it anymore. Fortunately the next morning was fabulous... I mean as literal and figurative as "night and day" can mean. We were directed to speak to the concierge/agent assigned to handle Diamond guests, and Mona was outstanding, being very concerned with our experience the previous night, and thoughtfully taking care of us and those service issues, making sure the rest of our stay was memorable (which it was). We only wish she was working when we had arrived! Even the regular front desk staff during the day were great. The breakfast at Collins Street was very substantial, definitely worth a stop if you need a hearty start to your day. Otherwise the hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to many restaurants, including Chinatown. So first night notwithstanding, it was a great stay. Hopefully we can come back and give that "excellent" rating once the front desk is consistently good, day or night.

Yelp
Fantastic location and fantastic stay. Other than the fact that I wish they had more spa options and a spa facility specifically, I can't complain. Everyone was nice, check-in was easy (we were upgraded) and my requests were totally met. Also, the gym is AMAZING. I actually worked out on vacation! Okay...once...but I did it. Love this Hyatt and loved my stay!

Yelp
Nice looking hotel with a grand lobby located in a very nice part of this magnificent city with plenty of shopping and theater options in the neighborhood. Overall quality of service was good and staff are well mannered and extremely polite though the concierge did give me incorrect directions- of course I should have relied on Google maps. Here's that they need to fix. The phone system in the rooms is archaic with damaged instruments. WiFi is unreliable and I had to call a few times till they finally installed an additional router/booster on my floor. The food is OK - not great- with somewhat limited choice and just the one restaurant which is actually understandable considering the huge number of outside dining options in this delightful city neighborhood. The bartenders were rather amateurish and that evidenced itself when I ordered a vodka martini with olives- came with seeds rather than pitted or stuffed.

Yelp
Holy Moly .. I wish all countries did hotels as well as Australia! Aside from the room being slightly smaller than what I would have wanted .. all I can say is wow. My husband accidentally booked two twin beds, so we called to see if they could move us... nope... not even 5 minutes later a guy comes in with more linens . And I kid you not transforms the twin bed into a king bed in front of our eyes within 10 minutes.. I was absolutely in awe. That's what I call ridiculously over the top amazing service Not only did this hotel give you ordinary toiletries .. nope they added razor and shaving cream, toothbrush and tooth paste among other things to the normal toiletries... The bathroom was clean and everything was pretty much perfect. Now the breakfast buffet was something I've never seen anywhere on the planet before .. I was seriously astonished (we had to try it because it was ranked number 1 of hotel breakfasts in Melbourne) and I would say I can't see much competing with it .. they not only had regular milk, they had soy, rice, and almond! Their cereal/granola station had everything from nuts to raw cacao nibs to chia seeds ... they had fresh fruit and typical American kinda breakfast, their hash browns were yummy and their Asian food station was really good, I loved the noodles and the veggie dumplings .. they had a lot of different types of pastries and I had one yummy pancake made fresh from scratch that I topped with berries and Nutella. Hey and I could order an almond milk cappuccino that was included in the breakfast as well ... Bottom line this hotel was amazingly priced for the comfort we got ... Australia you spoiled me!

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It was wonderful. It's in a perfect location and mostly everything we did was walking distance. It's very clean and they have a friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is outstanding! They have every food you could think of. I will definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Melbourne. We stayed at a few other hotels in Melbourne, but this was by far our favorite.

Yelp
I have to preface this review with a disclaimer. I may be a little biased, as I was staying when the Australian Open was going on and it's one of the closest hotels to the grounds. It's also a very popular spot for tennis players to stay at, as evidenced by the fact that the one day we decided to take the hotel bus to the grounds instead of doing the brief walk over, they dropped us off at the players/press entrance. It wasn't until we got to the hallway that we realized we weren't supposed to be there. And I won't violate privacy, but my boyfriend and I ate a sumptious breakfast every morning in the Executive Lounge alongside some of the world's top players. It was truly a magical experience. I can't really imagine another hotel I would want to stay at in Melbourne for the Australian Open, or even to go touring. I went running along the Yarra every morning, and it was so tranquil and pleasant. The concierge was extremely helpful and gracious, the food and drink delightful. Our room had the most amazing view and service was top-notch. Overall, this was one of the best hotel stays I've ever had in my life, and that helped to make this vacation a once in a lifetime experience.

Yelp
It is a good hotel - no complaints. Clean and modern. And expensive...

Paul L.

Yelp
We always stay here when in Melbourne. The hotel is located in a great area with lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. It is located within the free tram service area with just a short walk to tram stations. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere in the Regency club is very relaxed and the breakfast has more than enough food for a very hearty start to the day. The high tea in Collins Kitchen is the best I've ever had, definitely worth trying this if you're able to.

Yelp
I've been staying here for over 25 years. Always the same - a home away from home. The beds are the best in the world. You feel like you have gone to heaven. Bars, restaurant and in house massages are a must. Very good location- central to everything.

Yelp
Decided to have a weekend away and I love staying at Hyatt's all over the world. This one in Melb is up to all the standards I would expect, friendly staff good recognition as a loyal member club rooms nicely laid out good mini bar and excessive prices but that's standard. The grand Hyatt is in a great place within walking distance to must places good walk to casino. The beds at Hyatt are always so soft and comfy makes waking up even with a bad hangover pleasant lol I was on the club level and the club is nice good view from the top floor of the hotel. Good drinks and atmosphere very good. Only one criticism my room Mustn't have been used in a while as there was a lot of dust.

Yelp
Having had to travl a lot it is great to have a hotel that understands the needs of a frequent traveller. Good wifi, comfy beds and pillos, great service and fantastic upgrades. Way to go Hyatt.
google avatar

Adina P.

Yelp
Having spent 3 months of the last 12 in Melbourne, this hotel is practically a home away from home at this point. Right in the heart of the CBD, the Hyatt offers everything I've come to expect from the pinnacle of the brand: nice, large deluxe rooms, great views of the city, a huge and well stocked lounge, and 3 pokestops. The gym is equally impressive when you can pull yourself away from the Melb food scene, or the plushness of your bed, long enough to use it. Even the wifi is decently fast and doesn't disconnect you seemingly ever. For the brave souls who can withstand the power to buy, there is a Chanel store location downstairs adjacent to the lobby. Wow!
google avatar

Guy F.

Yelp
Very nicely located in the centre of the city. Rooms are quite large, comfortable and calm. The fitness center is impressive with a pool included. Enjoy the breakfast buffet which is very well supplied. The Ru & Co bar is also quite nice.

Yelp
Love love love! This place is fantastic! Having family in Melbourne I usually stay in the suburbs and haven't stayed in the CBD for many years! I've always wanted to stay in this Collins road location and I had a conference at the Westin and I'm a Hyatt gold pass member so I thought id stay here and rack up some points. Well first things first LOCATION! This is where you want to be in Melbourne CBD a beautiful district with some stunning architecture. Beautiful colorful entrance, the bathroom had marble overload which I loved it was visually to die for. After going to the Westin for my conference I thought it was bland in comparison. Before I left I sat in the lounge having drinks with some family members the ambiance was nice, calm and the lighting was nice. Definitely will stay here again. Hyatt is rather consistent around the world as far as quality and service I'm finding.

Alishia D.

Yelp
Comfortable and affordable rooms. Service and all other arrangements were amazing. Will recommend highly.

Yelp
Best place to stay in Melbourne bar none. Great sized rooms with comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms. The attention to detail of the staff is phenomenal, always friendly and polite and nothing is ever a bother. You get what you pay for and the Grand Hyatt is the perfect example. RECOMMENDATION: Stay for a couple of nights and treat yourself. The room service is fantastic and really fast but make sure you duck into Collins Kitchen for a meal and have a drink at the bar afterwards. Excellent Tom Collins.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly staff and service. Hotel is kept clean and the location is amazing as it is near the central city shopping district. The breakfast buffet was delicious. I especially liked their dessert platters that can be shared while sipping on a hot cup of mocha.

Yelp
Nice and clean in a good location, just hanging with colleagues prior to a gala tonight so will have to review after experiencing more of the facilities

Yelp
For an over-the-top meeting, event or convention space, you don't need to look anywhere else. The Grand Hyatt is one of the finest hotels I've seen in town, and the décor is phenomenal. It reminds me of New York meets old Las Vegas. There's huge crystal chandeliers, great sculptures and art all around, and a variety of room-sizes to do a huge wedding or a small business meeting. Their staff is amazing with attention to detail, and happy to work with you to perfect your event. They aren't the cheapest in town, but you will have an easy, low-stress experience in a more detailed space than in other hotels around.
google avatar

Lucas M.

Yelp
Nice looking place in a nice part of town. I've been put up here every time I tour through Melbourne. One thing I can't stand in any hotel is bad wifi and this hotel takes the cake for thee absolute worst wifi in the world and I've stayed in many. If you need to communicate or work via internet, stay far away from the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. You'll lose your job and your friends during your stay.
google avatar

Yelp
Collins Kitchen for lunch. Can't be beat. Fresh, healthy and loads of choice. Staff super friendly and helpful. Was a real treat to go he for lunch and very reasonably priced. May go back for the high tea or brunch. Both look inviting.

Yelp
Great hotel and the friendliest service. I arrived at 9 a.m. Sunday after a long flight from the UK. Not having warned the hotel that I was arriving early, my room wasn't ready I had a few hours to kill. I was gently directed to the health club (which is outstanding) where the exceptional staff couldn't have been nicer. They made sure I had a place to change and freshen up! provided a great running route along the Yarra trail, looked after my bag, then after my run, directed me to a spotless huge changing area with more than welcome hot shower. My room when I got to it was clean, light, and huge. Food was excellent and the staff in every respect from reception to concierge to restaurant were helpful friendly and knowledgeable. This is the place to stay in Melbourne. 5 stars.
google avatar

Jimmy L.

Yelp
The clubs lounge is really nice. lovely view of the city and very romantic. the food there is fantastic. they do have quite a few families with kids up there, (parents that don't wan't to pay for their childrens dinner I'm guessing) which i don't agree with. there should be a policy for that. don't get me wrong i love kids, but its a club lounge. What if i was up there with my laptop working or entertaining business partners. Management should really think about this. i wont be returning to stay in the club because of this but I may opt to stay in a standard room if there over night on business.

Yelp
I love this hotel! it's not beyond a modest budget if you book online through a booking website such as wotif and makes you feel like you really are on a luxury holiday. The facilities are next level with an indoor pool and gym. The staff are all very hospitable and welcoming. This hotel is centrally located within a two minute walk of many bars and cafes. Look out for a turn down service because who doesn't want a sleepy time tea and a chocolate on their pillow!

Yelp
Only positive thoughts here as my experience was that of a five star hotel with staff dedicated to maintaining that status. Our conference facilities were everything we could have wished for and all of our needs were quietly and efficiently supplied. The guests who stayed overnight to attend were vocal in their praise of the facilities and service and that it capped of for them a memorable and exciting time. Well done Hyatt.

P M.

Yelp
We traveled to Australia from Los Angeles for my husband's work. Our family of four (kids 5 and 8) were booked into the Grand Hyatt by the tour promoter. I am so thrilled that they did. Every single interaction at the hotel over our 5 day stay has been flawless. Room service friendly efficient and delicious. Housekeeping meticulous and so helpful when we needed extra help with kids' mess. Incredibly discreet and unobtrusive in every way. Everyone smiling and seemed genuinely happy. The concierge is absolutely fantastic-especially Dave. We really felt so loved and taken care of and with two energetic kids that can be hard to come by. Oh...and the bartender makes a most excellent negroni. I mean seriously, whoever is managing this hotel is doing a rockstar job and I used to work for the competition for many years! Bravo Hyatt!

Yelp
Sunday lunch on level 1 dining room, great choice in food, really great for kids, and staff are impeccable almost psychic in anticipating what you need.
