Grand Indian

Had a wonderful candle light dinner. Had some great naan. We were helped by the amazing staff to pick the matching dishes to complement the naan. So thought to give Kavindi a shoutout for the nice service she gave to us. Would definitely return when we come back to Nuwara Eliya…

We went to have dinner at 9:20pm. The waiter seemed to be on rush for no reason. The dessert was delivered long before the main course. The faluda ice cream melted by the time we were done eating our meals. There was no server to serve the biriyani. We were not offered any table water. When we finished our dinner, I asked if it is at all possible to serve table water and the waiter seemed surprised that we could ask for water. The other tables were served table water along with the meals. Such poor and subpar service was unexpected from Grand Hotel. Truly disappointing.

The service and food were really good but portions are a little smaller than expected. The chicken pakora & chicken afghani curry were my personal favorites from what we ordered! They also have a huge variety of interesting lassis like turmeric lassi, date lassi etc. The pineapple & basil lassi was really good.

They are miles away from becoming a “grand” restaurant. Disappointing service and below average food. 1. They forgot to serve us any water. There were 3-4 waiters roaming around and didn’t notice that a table was running without any water. 2. It’s a standard procedure in Indian restaurants to serve biryani from the dish to the plates. But here, although the dish was full to the brim with biryani, the waiter didn’t offer to serve it. 3. Falooda is a dessert. You can consider it as a dessert drink, but don’t serve it before the meal without asking! Disappointed. At this price point it was really disheartening to receive subpar food and service.

A very good Indian restaurant located inside the Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya. The food is flavorful and well-prepared, with authentic spices and a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The elegant setting of the hotel adds to the overall dining experience, making it a great option for anyone looking to enjoy quality Indian cuisine in a refined atmosphere.

Amazing food and staff! Praba very kindly suggested we tried and shared different dishes, and was very attentive all evening. 100% recommend.

An amazong place in a stunning place. I have visited with my girlfriend during a transfer from Kandy to Yala. We had dinner and everything was amazing. Thanks to all the staff, especially Suhan, for the kindly hospitality!

We had a lovely experience at Grand Indian. The food was amazing and the atmosphere is very vibey. Sandun & Niyomi were super attentive, lovely and amiable! it was great talking to them :)
