Grand Indian

We had our final lunch in Nuwara Eliya at Grand Indian Restaurant, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The food was absolutely delicious, we ordered the mutton biriyani, and it was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. The service was just as impressive. Mr. Praba took care of us during our meal, he was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. It’s clear that the staff here truly care about the customer experience. We came to this place based on a recommendation from my best friend, who is a regular visitor, and now I understand why! If you’re in Nuwara Eliya and craving authentic Indian cuisine, don’t miss this place. Highly recommended!

The service and food were really good but portions are a little smaller than expected. The chicken pakora & chicken afghani curry were my personal favorites from what we ordered! They also have a huge variety of interesting lassis like turmeric lassi, date lassi etc. The pineapple & basil lassi was really good.

The Fish curry (Goa style) was one of the best dishes I have ever had, full of flavor and so good. Cheese garlic naan was very good too and the dhal was good too(even if I have had better dhal in other places, especially Nepal recently). Restaurant is on the expensive side as you might guess as it seems to be owned by the Grand Hotel just in front

We had a lovely experience at this Grand Indian restaurant! The chicken curry was rich and flavorful, the garlic cheesy bread was absolutely delicious, and the rice was perfectly cooked. What made the visit even more special was the amazing service — Pedu was incredibly kind and professional , and Praba was also very kind and attentive. They both made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the wonderful people!

This is a high end Indian restaurant in Nuwara Eliya. It’s great food, good quality, and tasty, not spicy at all, maybe if we’d asked they could have made it spicier. The service was great, they were available and ready when we needed them, but not overcrowding. The biriyani wasn’t so great, pretty small portion, and not slow cooked as it should. The cheese naan was delicious, but no cheese! Tasted like flavorful garlic bread. Not worth the double price compared to garlic naan. Curries were small portions but enough for everyone! Atmosphere really nice, calm, and elegant.

So good we went back a second time! Really lovely food. A little bit more expensive than the average Sri Lankan but well worth it. The food is amazing and the service is excellent. It’s better if you can get a few dishes and share to try different things!
