I booked the Terrace Penthouse Suite expecting a quiet, upscale retreat to relax and recharge after leading a demanding university study abroad program. While the room itself is visually charming and the private terrace offers stunning views of Copenhagen, nearly everything else about my stay has been a disappointment—and frankly not what you’d expect at this price point.
Issues experienced during my stay:
• Excessive nighttime noise: The “soundproofed” room is directly above a disco that plays bass-heavy music until nearly midnight. The vibration was intense enough to rattle windows and made sleeping before 11:30 impossible.
• Room Was Never Cleaned:
Despite asking for service two days in a row, housekeeping never cleaned the room. On the first day, they didn’t even come by until after 4 PM, and on the second day I left by 11 AM and returned at 3 PM to an untouched room.
Uh
• No in-room phone: There was no functional way to contact reception or request assistance short of using WhatsApp, which is inconvenient and impersonal for a supposedly luxury suite.
• Television didn’t work: Despite requesting assistance twice, no one was able to get the TV working during my stay.
• Beeping electronic device in the room: A wall-mounted unit began beeping every 20 minutes and continues despite maintenance attempts. Staff said no one on site could fix it, and it required a call to an external technician—unacceptable for a top-tier room. I now have to consider moving rooms at 9 PM, the night before a 6:30 AM work obligation.
Bottom line: The space looks like a penthouse, but functions like a hostel with nice linens. A beautiful terrace doesn’t compensate for a broken TV, a beeping box, a loud nightclub, and no on-site staff empowered to resolve problems quickly.
If you’re booking this room for a peaceful, functional experience—you may want to look elsewhere.
