Grand Kartini Hotel

we stayed in this hotel for 3 days 2 nights. positive points: very central location-walkable to several restaurants, jam gadang, shops. the rooms were comfortable equipped with air conditioner and had hot water shower. the negative points: breakfast is not buffet style. they will serve you a plate of fried rice/ rice with fried chicken, sliced fruits, biscuits. it was fairly tasty but i would have preferred a buffet style breakfast spread. there is a laundry room at the top floor where you can hang your clothes if you needed to let your clothes air dry. the staff were polite but i would imagine it would be a bit difficult if an englishmen or foreigner who couldn't converse in malay/bahasa indonesia stayed here. all in all our stay was pleasant.

The best affordable hotel in town. The location is perfect. You just need 5 mins walk to reach Jam Gadang. Food and stores were easy to find. Mosque was just next to the hotel building. The rooms were clean and the cleaning services were very helpful and kind. The breakfast was nice, although not very special, but still, nice. Highly recommended for travelling on a tight budget.

Although this hotel's focus is more on local tourists, the staff was very friendly and did the best they can to offer us a nice stay. We stayed one night in a pleasant bright clean room. I would have rated this hotel five stars if it wasn't that close to a mosque. The wake up call early in the morning is a bit noisy for Western tourists, but the room made up for it. One of the cleanest rooms we stayed in Indonesia!

Booked this hotel as all the others were full. The location is okay, reasonable walking distance from all interesting places, food, market etc... The hotel is clean but our room was way too small (we had two luggages and couldn't find enough room for us 2 + our stuff), even the queen size bed barely fits in there when the room is empty. Room was hot without aircon and no fan (we finally asked for a fan which they provided). The shower/toilet are not convenient, if you take a shower for example, you will get the toilet seat & TP all wet. Some of the staff seemed nice but could barely speak English some others were looking down on us... Breakfast was okay, you can chose between continental, american & more. The building beside the hotel is a mosque so expect the morning prayer to Wake you up very early.||Perhaps with another room we would have enjoyed our stay. Anyway, good thing is that there are plenty of wonderfull things to see in the area, make sure to visit Harau valley, the trip is definitely worth it.

we were shown to a twin room, but went for a queen sized bed without realising quite how small the room was. It was fine though, and cheaper. Sweet staff, but not much English. Beware of ticking the box to pay with credit card, you can't.||Good breakfast, noisy mosque, free water dispensers. I would stay again, except for the super room at Hello Guesthouse opposite where although the breakfast not quite as good for 100 000 bigger, better room and Ling is a legend, all the info you could need and more

Location is awesome! So strategic and close to many attractions. It's in a walking distance to pasar ateh, jam gadang, even to ngarai sianok. The room is really nice and clean. I loved the bathroom because it's really spacious and the water heats up really quickly. The only downside, the room isn't soundproof so it's quite noisy. I didn't taste the breakfast, because why eating at the hotel when there are so many delicious foods out there to taste!

Nice little hotel in the center of Bukittinggi. Very clean basic room on the top floor with attached bathroom and warm water shower. Good breakfast included in the price (bread, butter, jam, pancake, egg, fruit, coffee or tea). Quiet street but mosque in the beginning of the street.

A pleasant quiet little hotel within walking distance of all the places you would want to visit in Bukittinggi. In a quiet street and next to a good cafe who offer tours of the area.|Our room was small with an attached bathroom - on the top floor with a nice view and private. Comfy bed and clean.|A good breakfast is included in the price.
