This is mostly a very normal restaurant. Uninteresting decor, normal staff, and pretty alright food. However, the prices for the food, notably the fired tempura shrimp is astronomical at around $40 for it alone. I wouldn't recommend it when other japanese restaurants are available.

4.5 stars. To summarise my dining experience, I would say that they have amazing customer service, beautifully presented food, nice drinks and a spacious layout. The waiter and waitress were very friendly, personable, helpful and generous! The food took a bit of time to get. As people flooded in shortly after arrival. We got there early on opening. And it soon filled up. They have 50% off food if u pay cash. Didn't use this offer, but would highly recommend carrying cash to cash 😉 The food was tasty. And sake drink flight was top notch. We traded one of the 3 for a lychee. That was icing on the cake, sweet, drinkable and did not taste like sake. The Yuzu was uprisingly very Yuzu'y. Very pronounced but refreshing. The crab croquettes were lovely, enjoyed the topping and the texture of the potato. Prawn sushi was great. The prawn curry don had an ingredient which I couldn't pick, and didn't like too much. But that's just a personal tastebud thing.

First time dinning here with the family and I must say, we are very impressed with the overall experiences. The restaurant was clean and very spacious. A great selections of drinks and food to choose from the menu. The price is affordable and the food was delicious. Your staff Solar was friendly and provided outstanding customer services that night to us and the diners. Everyone seems to have a great time. Well done and keep up great work team. Highly recommend this place! 👍

⭐ 1/5 Very disappointing experience. We drove an hour to try this place after seeing they offered “all you can eat Japanese” — which is clearly advertised on their menu. But as soon as we arrived, the place was almost empty with only one couple dining. We stood at the counter for nearly 5 minutes while the staff continued chatting amongst themselves before finally acknowledging us. When we asked about the all-you-can-eat option, they said they don’t do that anymore — unless we paid cash, in which case they’d give us “50% off.” This felt incredibly dodgy and misleading. The whole situation was uncomfortable and left a bad taste before we even sat down. We ended up leaving without eating. False advertising, poor service, and sketchy business practices. Definitely not worth the drive or the time.

I recently dined at Grand Lafayette on a Saturday night and had a delightful experience. The food, especially the sushi, was delicious and beautifully presented. The menu offers a wide variety of options, ensuring there is something for everyone. The drinks and wine list were impressive, complementing the meal perfectly. While the quality of the food and service was top-notch, I must admit that the prices were a bit on the higher side. However, the overall dining experience made it worth it. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, making it a great place for a night out with friends or a special someone. The staff at Grand Lafayette were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Their excellent service added to the overall positive experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Japanese cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, Grand Lafayette is a fantastic dining destination with great food, drinks, and service. While the prices may be a bit high, the overall experience makes it worth a visit. I will definitely be returning to try more of their delectable dishes in the future.

Google
Delicious modern Japanese food which balances creativity with traditional taste. Set in a lofty dining area, the staff really make you feel welcome and excited to try all their food! I would highly recommend anything deep fried as they always have such an amazing crunch - our favourite was the sweet and sour eggplant! The drinks and desserts are also fantastic with some truly out there ideas which are a fun experience. Would highly recommend anyone to come try it out - we definitely will be back! Thank you Solar for the wonderful evening :)

Dined here on a Friday night, not too much parking around, hidden in a little laneway off the main road High Street. service was relatively fast, food tasted great, we ordered baked scallops, seafood fried rice, tempura, takoyaki balls, baked scallops, sashimi and soft shell crab rolls. the baked scallops, and seafood fried rice were the highlight, the soft shell crab sushi roll was bland so wouldn't reorder. It wasn't too loud and interior was nice and quiet

Yelp
main points to note: 1. The AYCE price $32.80 does not include sashimi or desert. You gotta add $18.80 pp 2. You are limited to 2 starters pp. 3. Without sashimi you are very limited on variety 4. If want desert... green tea red bean or sesame ice cream it's $4 per serve My experience only YMMV... here is a live snapshot! Yes I actually have time to review LIVE as there's no frkn food!! and am frkin hangry!! Waiting time is about to hit 30min!! its now past 8.10 and no food, beers which took 15min to arrive I've already just finished.. waitress comes across and marks time on the order paper on the table.. 9.30pm WTF! reminding us we will get kicked out ... I thought oh frrrrrk here we go again we will leave this place angry bangry! Finally!! 1st dish ordered comes .. it's the steak.. it tastes good not much there but ok, 2nd dish arrives it's the tataki salad .. all were good to be honest!! 3rd dish and so on... So round 2 of orders ... the wait wasn't too bad about 7min. Same for round 3.. The only gripe I have is the Kakuni Saam. 1st round it was the best!! Reaaaally yummy! Crisp and with the right balance of meat and fat. In round 2?!?!? maaaaaan it was 100% fat!! Rendered to look like there was some meat layered in the fat. But maaaan it was pure block of fat! Could not eat it. AVOID ALL THE MAKIS!!! like all asian AYCE... it is super dense with rice! So dense you cannot taste anything else! Like the Baos.... if u have to order it last. Waaaay too filling! WIR... once is enough for the novelty!! But I have to say though.. the quality is better than say Okami or Isshin. But they had sashimi included. Lafayette caters for a different market.

Yelp
I love this place. Food was amazing and staff were great. Amazing value for money, can't believe how cheap is it for the amazing quality of food you get. If you're wondering whether or not to eat here, you 100% should!

Yelp
Dinner ended in a dispute over the bill, one of our party arrived late, and sat at the table for the final 15 mins of our dinner, without ordering, eating or drinking anything, then they tried to charge him full price. When we disputed it, the service manager threatened to call the police. What a terrible experience, won't be returning.

Yelp
Just discovered this place for dinner and love it. Food quality, especially for an all you can eat set price is excellent. Each dish was delicious, starting with the Miso soup, which was excellent. The Seeweed Salad, which I love, was also really really good, and the other dishes, from the maki - salmon, prawn and soft-shell crab were fantastic. The sushimi like dishes, and we had tuna, salmon, kingfish and a meat carpaccio were all wonderfully done with superb dressings. The selection was really vast, which was part of the problem, as we wanted to try everything. Oh the gyoza was some of the best I have had anywhere, and the chicken dishes, and there were 4 or 5 varieties were also tasty and different. Totally wonderful value for $32.80 per person, especially when you are hungry. They do charge a penalty if you over order and do not finish ! The reason I took off one star was because the service is not that great when they are busy, and there were dishes we ordered that we did not get, but for food quality, presentation and deliciousness, it would definitely have been 5 stars.
