"This property is located on the western side of the park in the town of Grand Lake. Most guests stay in the historic cabins, which have been updated with a contemporary look, but there are also four “Jupes,” or tents, with high ceilings and solar-power-generated electricity." - Travel + Leisure Editors

I traveled to Colorado to shoot a wedding at Grand Lake Lodge and now I completely understand why the brides were absolutely obsessed with this place is so special to them. From the sweeping panoramic views of the mountains to the pool and amazing fire table - this place feels like a retreat from the every day life. The ceremony space was incredible. Seating for guests was easy and there was shade so everyone didn't get too hot.We had great views of Grand Lake and the surrounding scenery. The staff was helpful and personable. Overall, it was a great experience. I can't wait to come back here with my family!

Google
I booked a cabin here with the intention of using the hot tub, bar, restaurant, lobby and amenities due to the cabins seeming small. Unfortunately all amenities are closed in the winter and the lodge won’t answer any of my calls or email to get a refund. Nowhere on the 3rd party I booked through nor the google link to a reservation on the lodge’s website say anything about the closures. I’d be happy to rebook for the summer or spring when amenities are open but no one will help me :(

I didn't stay the night here, but I did walk in and enjoy some drinks on the patio. The view was insurmountable. Grand Lake is surrounded by mountains, and...obviously there's a grand lake which is so picturesque. This lodge has the perfect view of all of this beauty, and also has a bar which serves really tasty cocktails! Truly a beautiful marriage. I spent a great 1-2 hours here with my family, sipping beverages and enjoying the view.

Google
My favorite place in Grand Lake/Winter Park area. I began going for the amazing view of Grand Lake just for a cocktail and to soak in the history and gorgeous huge lobby (bar/restaurant). Then I stayed. The cabin was small and ancient, but nice bed and clean (no old grout etc) bathroom. I just basked on the deck with nice hot tub. This place used to be in the park until th 1960’s.

We stayed at the Mountainside Bungalows. I would bet the locals to the area take the view for granted, I did not. There was always something new to see. The first morning we arrived, Apple Maps showed that US34 at the south entrance was closed(we knew the trail head road was closed for the season), and tried to follow GPS out. Supply Jeep Trail was definitely the experience!! But alas, we turned around and just went out US34 south. For the record, maps showed it closed every morning, so we just drove it out anyway. We took soooo many pictures, that it’s hard to pick a favorite. I will make a trip back during the summer months to see this area again. I loved that even our dog was allowed to stay. Looked at other places that “required” her to be crated. No, that’s not going to happen.

Not peopley at all. Beautiful scenery. Great food. Rustic cabins were big and relaxing. Secluded, in woods. Sitting around the fire at nite, sharing stories was fun. Swinging on the porch and viewing the lake and scenery was so calming. Hanging in the main bldg with high ceilings, fire, and lodge atmosphere was spectacular.

I canceled my reservation well in advance, approximately three weeks before the scheduled date, yet they refused to issue a refund. The management is truly disappointing . It's incredibly frustrating to deal with such poor customer service, especially when I took the necessary steps to cancel the reservation in a timely manner. This experience has left me feeling unheard and dissatisfied, and I would caution others against relying on their services.

We spent the day in Grand Lake and had dinner at the Huntington House on a busy Saturday. The view and the service were amazing. A big shout out to our bartender, Mark. Our drinks were the best we had had on vacation. He was fun, personable and always smiling! The restaurant was busy and he still provided us with exceptional service. We will be back!

Chuck B.

Yelp
Waitress (Ollie) was great and the manager beyond friendly. Plus, the manager chatted with us for a while then brought us two free beers, which were AWESOME! Definitely will be back

Mary S.

Yelp
Booked a three night stay at Grand Lake Lodge through Expedia. The advertisement regarding " modern day amenities" was false, the advertised picture of the cabin was false, the shower was built for a six year old ,could barely turn around( I am 5.5 at 138 pounds). Was also asked to pay an additional 59 dollars for a resort fee that was not advertised. The view was blocked by a maintenance building. Called the front desk to cancel the reservation was told it was not possible because it was booked by a third party. Was told the manager would contact me but never did. Ifthere was a 0 rating I would use it. A very expensive mistake. Will never book through a third party and second will ever step foot in Grand Lake Lodge.

Yelp
Grand Lake is a cute, rustic village still stuck back in the Old West, with moccasin stores, turquoise shops etc. The lodging choices in town are limited and most are rustic cabins. The Grand Lake Lodge is, in theory, the best choice owing to its large lodge and bar area, historic tradition and pool overlooking the lake from the hillside....HOWEVER, be prepared, the cabins leave a lot to be desired. Very spartan, NO A/C in the rooms (very stuffy), very limited outlets in each cabin -- we had two. It's all very old, worn, and [sic] "historic". Just giving a heads up, be prepared and know what you're checking into. We had one of the worst nights of our lives and cut our visit short and went elsewhere.

Sandee L.

Yelp
We enjoyed our very short stay at Grand Lake Lodge and wish we had more time to spend here! We were assigned one of the cabins (they're sort of like duplexes, as you have one shared wall with another room), and it was cute. It had a mini fridge and a microwave too. Two small complaints: - No AC during a heat wave made it a bit uncomfortable. At least there was a fan in the room and we were able to put it by the open window for ventilation. - No coffee maker in the room, possibly because they have complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning. We couldn't take advantage of that though since we were out of the room by 4am! No gym, but they do have a pool with a view of the mountains and outside fire pit area were also very nice. Gorgeous lobby complete with swings, rocking chairs for the little ones and a huge fire pit. A decent price point for the area at $230/night, plus $10 resort fee.

Gerard B.

Yelp
I only used the restaurant. Food is good, the view is spectacular. Service has a lot to be desired. First, they charged us for things we had not ordered. They said waiters sometimes charge the wrong table. Second, we had to wait 30 minutes for the manager to come by to reverse the current check and issue a new check. Can't the manager delegate someone when he is not on the premises ?

Brian K.

Yelp
Way overpriced and bartenders are pissed off they have to work. Rooms super small and smell like poop. I will not be back. Why be a bartender if you have zero peronaility?

Tammy N.

Yelp
So my cousin and I had pre planned a visit to Grand Lake pre Covid. We were originally scheduled to go in June but the virus came and shut everything down. We rescheduled for August. The lodge sits off of highway 34 outside the city limits of Grand Lake. The views are spectacular! The main lodge has guest reception and a bar (no seating) and a restaurant. There are rooms in the main lodge and cabins. We stayed in a cabin. The cabin was cute and very clean. Parking is plentiful down by the main lodge. Near the cabin not so much. That was a challenge but okay. You have to request cleaning, clean towels etc. The cabin had a microwave, mini fridge and flat screen TV. The bathroom was updated and nicely appointed except it had a hand held shower head that kept sliding down while showering. Water was warm not hot. Didn't enjoy that much and tried to get out of the shower as soon as possible. There's a pool. Due to Covid they were taking reservations to limit people in the pool, which was appropriate but sadly, we weren't able to get a reservation so couldn't experience that. The views are epic, my hubby and I sat on the "front porch" which has porch swings and had a drink and overlooked the lake and scenery which is stunning. Sadly we watched the "Williams Fork Fire" in nearby Frasure, Colorado grow and build. We could see smoke and flames. Overall, this is a lovely place to unwind. The negative is it's outside of Grand Lake proper so you need to drive down to the town. I do recommend if you want great views and a quiet vacay.

Yelp
Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and had a fantastic time. The view is unreal. The grounds are well kept. The pool and hot tub were perfect. The indoor fireplace was lovely for coffee in the morning. The restaurant was SO yummy (get the filet and the salted caramel ice cream). The waitstaff was very attentive. The room was somewhat small but all we needed and clean. Best smelling lotion/soap/shampoo! There's a 0.6 mile hike down the hill that takes you downtown. It was perfect for us and our dogs. Probably wouldn't recommend it for small children or anyone who isn't sure footed though. About a 5 minute drive downtown if hiking isn't your thing. Overall, fantastic stay. We will be back with friends soon!

Yelp
We made reservations for 5:45pm. We arrived on time, were promptly seated and ordered 2 glasses of wine and a beer. Waitress came back and informed us that the beer ordered was not available. We ordered a different one. Fifteen minutes later, we flagged down a busser and asked about the beer. He brought it out and told us " it was sitting on the bar." We ordered dinner shortly after being seated. We waited 50 minutes before we got up and went to the host station. I asked for the manager. Rick showed up and I told him we had been waiting for 50 minutes. We had to go as we had to be at the next place by 7:15. Rick asked me if I had informed our waitress that we had a time limit. I said no, as I had allocated 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner. I told him that the responsibility fell on them to serve dinner in a timely manner. The table next to us had their drinks, appetizers and dinner before we left and they ordered right before us. This was the second time we tried this restaurant. The first time, we ordered a pork chop, which came with half of it raw. We informed our waiter and they said "they would give the kitchen a heads up." Never offered to replace or refund and as we were out for dinner with guests, we did not want to make a big deal out of it. For the price of a dinner for three people ($150 plus $30 tip) I expect better service and quality. We will not be back. Do yourself a favor and frequent another establishment in Grand Lake.

Sanket W.

Yelp
Rooms: 1 - very very small for the price you pay Food: 1 - very pricey and not that great Location and Pet friendly: 10/10 that's the only thing that stands out otherwise I wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
I am excited to leave the worst review possible for this place. As a business owner myself I very much understand what a good review means to business and what good customer service is. I booked two nights at this lodge in hopes of a nice weekend away with my girlfriend. At $262 a night you'd think it would be. Youd also think that the pool hot tub and rest would be open unless otherwise noted. None of the above were. Our room was tiny and terrible as well. I've asked for a full refund as we did not stay there. we ended up going into town in an Airbnb for way less and was much nicer. Now I'll have to fight these massive charges with my credit card company.

Philip H.

Yelp
Pictures on website are not representative of the rooms. The claim us they were renovated...but carpets not clean , very small room with washbasin in bed area, bathroom tiny, no a/c, no coffee maker, tv very small, no room to fit a chair, no closets.in a single word, for the amount paid...the room is a DUMP

Vicki L.

Yelp
Lovely stop for cocktails with a great outdoor patio and fabulous lake view. Easy parking. Friendly service.

Davaabolor B.

Yelp
Where do I begin. I reserved a half cabin here for two nights. The website clearly stated that this was a dog friendly place. Well.. turns out, not really. The restaurant does not allow dogs but you can't leave your dog unattended in your room. Even in a kennel. The room was filthy. Not at all like the pictures. Smelled horrible. And is tiny! Not worth the price. After we pointed it out to the front desk person they just said 'welp nothing we can do about it' We ended up not staying there but we still got charged the $100 pet fee.

Pam F.

Yelp
Very clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly. Great price for being right on the water.

Michael S.

Yelp
This place is worth it for the unbelievable views, the amazing common areas (main lodge, deck, pool, swings on the porch) the fact that it is a 100-year old lodge and the excellent Old Fashioneds at the bar (did I mention the views?) Want a big room? Stay at the Marriott. Want a cheap place? Stay at the budget roach motel. Go for the ambience and the history and sip an Old Fashioned and take in the views.

E F.

Yelp
Paid a premium price to enjoy the lodge restaurant with a view and a cabin with a view. Upon arrival they informed us the lodge restaurant was unavailable due to two weddings and a family reunion. Our cabin had no view. The facilities were overcrowded and unpleasant. Management should be ashamed. A horrible experience that was horribly expensive.

Virginia F.

Yelp
We were so excited to stay here I'll give 5 stars for views. such great potential for this Lodge. The actual lodge bldg is very cute with good drinks and super cute decor. The cabins are very tiny and very, very poorly designed to start, There is no place to put any luggage. There is plenty of room for a long console table or floating shelf(s) (for luggage etc) where the fridge and dresser can fit neatly underneath -opening up the room for a small table as well. There is no table anywhere and a tiny sofa which makes no sense. It was very uncomfortable. We had no hot water in the shower and I reached out Friday early eve for help. They sent a handyman who looked at it and said he'd be back. he didn't return. we received a text shortly after saying they couldn't help us until the next morning. we hiked all day and had to cancel dinner plans because we couldn't take a shower. They offered us 20% off the room rate for the night for our inconvenience. we really don't want that. the very nice maintenance man came to repair it in the morning, and it took over an hour to fix - we had to rearrange our plans to get a shower in. I reached out to ask for a late checkout because our plans were ruined and she gave us a 1/2 hour extension. disappointing The hot tub is filthy, and needs a good scrubbing it's stained, dirty and discolored. pool was a bit better They could do much better I wanted to love it because the location is just amazing. Hopefully they can make some improvements soon.

DK V.

Yelp
Last year they had an affordable though limited lunch menu which was great. Seemingly this has been discontinued for a full menu at brunch/lunch and dinner. The place is super expensive. A burger is $26, an order of fries is $8, a salad is $16, a freaking cinnamon roll is $11, garlic rubbed prime rib with two sides is $72. Well, you get the idea. Food prices are a ripoff. This place is for the wealthy only. Eat somewhere in town if you want to leave with any cash in your wallet.

Beth L.

Yelp
We love staying at this property. The location and views of Grand Lake are amazing. The cabins are clean, well appointed and comfy. The resort is dog-friendly, which is awesome. And, the restaurant serves great food onsite or for carryout. We had a small issue during our recent stay and the GM reached out quickly to resolve it--customer focus is very clear. Our experience with staying here has been great! We will be back and highly recommend!

natalie d.

Yelp
We loved this place! The cabin was updated, clean and had great views. The bar was awesome, we ordered the mushroom toast, grand salad and burger. I was really happy with the service and food quality. I would definitely recommend staying here and grabbing dinner at the bar one night.

Ferdinand H.

Yelp
Employees like that kid name dill something we're able to help me out in a jiffy. Thanks Dill. Great place to venture out with my kids and see the great outdoors. I'm a changed man from this site never will I eat salmon in the woods

Hali H.

Yelp
What a great place! Rooms are small but Clean. A little over priced for the size. Great views. Friendly and accommodating staff. Minutes from downtown. I will definitely be back.

Kris L.

Yelp
Amazing Views, awesome pool area, nice bar and restaurant. Cabins are updated and comfy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Looks like a great spot for a wedding. Downtown Grand Lake is a great place for everyone. Drinks, Food, Shops, Playgrounds. They have it all! Go visit this place!

Yelp
Hands-down the most horrific experience I've had at any hotel in a long time. And the worst part is that their manager Gary is a completely unprofessional jerk. I stayed there for one night and they charged me for two nights even though they repeatedly told me I would only get charged for one night. They kept saying the manager would get in touch with me and fix it but the manager never got in touch with me. That would be Gary. To boot the one night I did stay there I didn't sleep because the cabin was so hot, and I told them, and they never apologized or offered me a discount. But let's just stick to the fact that I stayed there one night, they promised me they would refund me the difference, and they never did. So when I finally repeatedly called and was able to get in touch with their manager Gary, he started accusing me of "having known what the deal was." When I tried to explain to him that I had been led to believe that I had to pay for two nights to check in but that I would get refunded the night that I didn't stay there, he called me a drunk and hung up on me. Yep, you're reading correctly, their manager Gary called me a drunk and hung up on me. Meanwhile I was dead sober and trying to explain to them that they had charged me for two nights though I'd stayed there one. I'm not sure what's going to happen at this point, I'm going to just refute it through my credit card company because I did not stay there two nights. But let me also add that they charged me twice as much they said they were going to charge me for the one night I did actually stay there. The whole thing is crazy. Who calls a customer a drunk after overcharging them and then hangs up on them... Completely insane.

Yelp
Spent a few days/nights at the lodge earlier this month. Beautiful views (see photos). Breakfast buffet was quite enjoyable - our server, Amanda, made it even more so by taking exceptional care of us. The bar was a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. Bartender - Christina - was exceptional. Loved the lavender lemonade! We saw a moose during breakfast one morning and a bear one evening....chipmunks were plentiful as well.

Brenda P.

Yelp
Beautiful location and cozy cottages! I was disappointed to find that there were no locks on the windows, though.

Sean L.

Yelp
I had an amazing time at Grand Lake Lodge! The whole drive up to the place through the Rockies was already incredible with stunning views along the way. But as soon as you get to the Lodge, it's as if you stepped into a painting that will impress you throughout your whole stay. My room was newly renovated, incredibly comfortable and warm! Heater worked great, which is important at these altitudes! With a newly done shower that had plenty of warm water to spare. But I didn't come up to the mountains to just stay in my room. The lodge itself has a fantastic restaurant and bar that takes full advantage of the views; however, the food spoke for itself. I tried the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna that was probably some of the best tuna I've ever tried, and then washed it down with a refreshing cocktail, the Tequila Mockingbird. All while staring out over the impressive views of the lake and mountains. If the altitude starts to wear you down, there is also a pool and viewing deck with an outdoor fire pit that is a perfect place to relax and take in your surroundings. The town itself is a short 3-minute drive and there is even a trail that leads down to it if you're feeling adventurous. All in all, I had a tremendous time and I look forward to making my way back to Grand Lake Lodge in the future!

Clayton T.

Yelp
Couldn't recommend this place enough. The reviews nearly scared us off but our visit -- albeit just for one night -- was quite perfect and memorable. The lodge itself is beautiful and romantic, a perfect place to watch sunrise or sunset, and we did both. We ate dinner on the deck to spend more time outside, spent time in the heated pool and jacuzzi and ate inside as well. All lovely experiences. Our room -- Owl 5 -- was nothing like the bad reviews. We had both an overhead fan, a portable fan, and plenty of room, lighting and chargers. I've spent 3 times as much for rooms in NYC with less space in a room, fewer amenities and no bathroom space. The shower was a normal size and completely redone with tiling which was nicely finished. Our parking spot was right next to the room and no issue unless we'd decided to bring multiple cars which shouldn't be an issue for anyone. Thanks again for a wonderful experience to the helpful and friendly staff, making sure our anniversary weekend was a special one. We will be back. I can't recommend this place enough.

Thomas P.

Yelp
We didn't stay here we just had dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the views are fantastic. The food and the service was beyond horrible. One steak was ordered rare and came out well done. Not only that the filet looked like pot roast. I can't believe they tried to serve it to someone. It took 2 hours to have dinner. It was the worst dinner experience we have ever had!

Kandi K.

Yelp
My review went way down because you have to order using a QR code. This is supposed to be a very nice restaurant not fast food joint. Stop trying to save money:

Bryan S.

Yelp
We were really impressed with the service at Grand Lake Lodge -- flexible, customer-oriented, happy people work here. The property is a truly historic (just hit its 100 year anniversary) setting with exceptional views and ambiance. The restaurant is 5 stars without question. The rooms are really small and modest -- probably a little too small and modest given the price. That's the only reason for docking a star, but nevertheless we had a really special family vacation here.

Alexa L.

Yelp
Cute little place to stay with great views. Great for some quiet and relaxation time. Clean. Pet friendly. Definitely will stay again in the future.

Mary R.

Yelp
Disappointed. Requested 2 kings next to each other. Confirmed 4 times. Checked in and we don't have rooms next to each other ... we are across parking lot. Extremely Disappointed and dissatisfied. For the price, to be lied to 4 times, what can you say? We will never stay here again. Do not trust anything they tell you on the phone. Rooms Extremely small and totally not worth it. Only gave an extra star because they offered concessions to make us happy. We are stuck here. Don't let this happen to you.

Norm P.

Yelp
Went to dinner with family and everyone loved their meal. The service was excellent! Ana, our server was incredible. The best there is. If you go, ask for Ana.

Sara B.

Yelp
WORST RESTAURANT SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I'm actually speechless. One bartender working a full bar of 15-20 people... after waiting 15 minutes to even get someone to look our way, I had to ASK to get service. Started to order food and the bartender stopped mid order to go help someone else... then forgot to come back and finish our order... I had to ASK AGAIN if we could finish ordering food. Since there was a good 5-10 minutes between my husband ordering and me finally getting to order, his food obviously came out first- no big deal. 30 MINUTES LATER my husband has left the restaurant and I STILL don't have my food. Bartender comps mine due to the delay and it comes out WRONG. I lost count how many times this guy said sorry not only to me but the other guests there too... it was a joke. Had to continue to wait for the missing items in my order. I then go to cut into my WELL DONE burger and it was so RAW that I couldn't even eat it... and I'm PREGNANT. F'ing disgusting. I will never stay here again- place is crap and the restaurant is laughable. Save your money - stay somewhere else.

Eric M.

Yelp
Ripoff! Fixed price menu at $47. I ordered cedar planked salmon with mixed vegetables. What i got was NOT cooked on cedar. Told my server. She said she would let the kitchen know which confirmed she knew it had not been cooked on a cedar plank. I got almost no vegetables either. On top of that the hostess is disorganized. Don't plan to return.

N W.

Yelp
Great view from porch restaurant. The food has always (over the years) been inconsistent. This is a down year... the lamb sandwich with like boiled lamb. Baaaaaaaad.

Katie J.

Yelp
We only stayed one night and we were concerned when we saw how small the cabins were but it worked out well. They were clean and we didn't spend much time in the room except to sleep. It was very quaint and the lodge was beautiful with fantastic views. It rained the night we were there so we sat on the front porch of the Lodge in a porch swing and had a cocktail. Very relaxing.

Delaney F.

Yelp
Had such an incredible experience at Grand Lake Lodge! The location couldn't be better as it sits within Rocky Mountain National Park overlooking the gorgeous lake. Two of my highlights include the hiking trails you can take directly from the hotel grounds in order to explore the national park and the incredible farm to table restaurant with incredible views and fun cocktails! The room was was the perfect mix of a cabin feel with modern design. It felt very clean and polished while still embracing the nature surrounding it. Cannot wait to return soon!

Bob S.

Yelp
My group of 4 friends attempted to enjoy an evening at the Grand Lake Lodge Restaurant. It was just a sad and disappointing experience which ended with our walking out of the Lodge restaurant after an insulting and unfortunate encounter, first with an over-extended and over-worked staff/waitress; ending with a curt conversation with the female dining room manager. She found it necessary to inform me that "Corporate" wanted to attract a "Five Star Clientelle". Apparently, she felt that we were not that caliber and suggested to me that we might be more satisfied eating in the bar. We concluded that we would be better satisfied moving to another restaurant; which we did. (As a footnote to my credibility, I was involved in management at the Grand Lake Lodge for 42 years. I never imagined that a place once known for its gracious hospitality, wonderful food, and incredible views, would fall so far from the standards that the T.L. James family set and upheld for 6 decades.)

Nadine B.

Yelp
This lodge is a historic Colorado gem. Stayed three nights in one of the small cabins. The renovated cabin was comfortable, clean, well appointed and affordable. The hotel staff was helpful, kind and friendly. The views from the deck are amazing and the proximity to the park unbeatable. A true Colorado experience!!!

Ken C.

Yelp
The experience was a "never again". They claim renovation but cabin c11 was renovated somewhere in 1950's. Rotted wood in windows/exterior plus that great view from porch...looks onto parking lot. Restaurants food was "never again" as well. And of course they tried to over charge us 90.00.

Denitza L.

Yelp
The restaurant is really lame. It's very dirty. Steak was extra chewy, no flavor, no crackers to go along with their soups, no breads of any kind. The fish taco tasted horrible it had a weird smell to it. The view is great but don't eat here!!! Bad food and expensive!

J S.

Yelp
Stayed one night the split cabin is small no a/c ,when you stay here you have to remind yourself that this place is 100 yrs old great restaurant good food ,a bit pricey but very friendly staff ,the porch and pool ,hot tub are great along with the fantastic views and proximity to the park will be back

Brian C.

Yelp
Wow! What a great patio and amazing view. Alex was a super host. He checked in on us to make sure we were all good. Great service Alex! Thanks man

Jodie S.

Yelp
Nice clean lodge with friendly service and great food at the restaurant. Had decent views and very close to downtown and the park.

JJ M.

Yelp
Sad to see the bad reviews. The lodge is so magical and memorable. The restaurant has struggled in past years but has arrived if our table of 7 on August 6 was an indication. We all loved our food, the service and the overall vibe. The menu is diverse and delish, and the service was flawless. We have a cabin down the road and will be back very soon for drinks on the patio, dinner in the lodge or apps by the amazing fire. Keep up the great work! We locals appreciate you.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
The view is amazing, but that's all it has to offer. Food just ok and service was awful. Better off just stopping by to see the view.
