Grand Park City Hall

"Go back to the moment you arrived. What was your first impression? Why did this hotel catch your attention? A massive bronze gate greets guests at the main entrance—an apt hark back to the old world in one of the most historic parts of Singapore. The heritage theme continues inside the front lobby, where a lattice panel screens off a seating area sandwiched between cool marble floors and softly lit cornices. Make no mistake though: This isn't a hotel for fuddy-duddies. The lobby furniture is sleek, modern and in muted, tasteful tones, and the 'living' artwork (hammered out of iron so it rusts and changes with age) resembles a Google map of the area. A Green Mark award, indicating that the hotel is committed to environmental sustainability, takes pride of place on one of the walls. Is there a backstory here? Singapore-based Park Hotel Group, owned by Hong Kong billionaire Law Kar Po, runs this hotel, which sits under the group's top-tier Grand Park brand. While the main building was constructed in the 1990s, a major restoration, that was completed in 2018, has expanded the hotel's site to include two century-old shophouses. The couturier Guo Pei, who designed Rihanna's 'omelette' gown for the 2015 Met Ball, stayed here when she visited Singapore. Tell us about your room. What was it like? If you had your pick of rooms, would you choose another? My Premier Room—done up in monochromatic tones—was fairly spacious for a category that is second from the bottom. There was a seating area with enough room to open a large suitcase in, and the glass-walled bathroom (with pull-down shades for the shy) came complete with a large tub and rain shower. Given a choice though, I would plump for the Oasis Junior Suite, which has a private terrace, outdoor hot tub and in-shower steam bath, plus direct access to the swimming pool. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi – and is the quality good? The Wi-Fi is free and fast. How is the food? Does the restaurant do anything particularly well? The hotel's only restaurant, Tablescape, is quiet and a tad subdued, but it does very decent modern European food, designed by a chef who's worked at Michelin-starred restaurants. The best way to start a meal here is with the soft, lush and creamy 62℃ Egg garnished with 24-month parmigiano reggiano and curls of Umbrian black truffle. But leave room for when the bread and dessert trolleys come around—the former alone features 14 different types of breads. Anything stick out about the service? Service is enthusiastic, if not the most polished. What's really interesting: the hotel is pioneering a facial recognition system for check-ins, which means you can download its app and pre-load your passport details before you arrive, then check in on the app and get an electronic key to your room once you're on the premises without having to queue. (There's still a good ol' check-in desk though for the less tech-savvy.) Who are your fellow hotel guests? No weirdos or eccentrics here—this is a safe, sophisticated spot for sensible travelers. They're out for a bit of adventure (like the whole facial recognition check in), but won't venture far enough from creature comforts to go off the rails. What else is in the neighborhood? Is it an area you'd want to hang out in? It's heaven for history buffs. Everything from the National Gallery to the oldest fire station and church are little more than a block from the lobby—no other hotel is as close to these landmarks. Nightlife and dining hotspot Clarke Quay is also nearby, as are the Raffles City mall and City Hall train station. Is there anything you'd change? The interiors of the hotel are a bit dark. Brighter lighting or more windows would really help lighten things up. Anything we missed? The Family Suites come with a fun-looking bed, personalized play kits and child-sized bathrooms for the kids. And there's a rooftop gym encased in sliding doors that users can choose to leave open for an outdoor experience. Plus, complimentary parking for guests! Bottom line: Worth it? Considering how expensive Singapore hotels are, this is a very reasonably priced option that's bang in the city center and within walking distance of many tourist attractions. Even better: the rooms are spanking new." - Audrey Phoon

Google
The hotel is in a central location and as a tourist, it was a easy getting in and out from. I also liked that the rooms were spacious, clean and tastefully decorated, although I found the pillows to be somewhat peculiar shaped and firm. Had to request for softer ones. The check in and service needs much improvement. The reception desk were not friendly nor welcoming and it took us 40mins to check in - it was also hot, no proper queue system and very disorganized.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Grand Park City Hall Restaurant / lounge ! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the attentive, friendly staff. The service was prompt and thoughtful, with every detail taken care of without being intrusive. The service I should give the credit to Ms.Kathy.||The food? Incredible. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I tried the Singapore Laksa, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and prepared with real care and passion.||The ambiance added to the experience — cozy yet stylish, perfect for a night out or even a casual dinner. Whether you’re a foodie or just someone who enjoys a good meal, I highly recommend Grand Park City Hall. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Went to Tablescape for a lovely dinner, Nisha, our waitress for the evening was so pleasant (would probably come back just for her service alone) The manager Jun Wei was also helpful with their selection of wines. ||Much kudos to Chef Kok Wan and the kitchen staff, the food came in great time and was absolutely delish. Their bread here is so amazing, we even overheard another table loudly praising it.

We booked a one-night stay as a couple, but upon check-in, we were informed that our room had been changed to a larger “family room.” While it sounded like an upgrade, we soon learned it was actually a shared suite, separated from another room only by a connecting door. We were told not to worry, as the adjoining room was unoccupied. That changed at 5 a.m., when a family of five checked into the other side of the suite, waking us with loud shouting and noise. The door between the rooms offered almost no sound insulation. After an hour of this (by 6 a.m.), I had to knock on their door myself to ask them to quiet down—something I’ve never had to do in any hotel before. When we brought this up with the staff, they were dismissive and made us feel like we were overreacting, even though the other family had apparently booked both rooms. The handling of the situation was incredibly unprofessional, especially for a hotel that claims to be five-star. Breakfast was chaotic, with disorganized service and unfriendly staff. We also asked if we could take a quick shower after checking out (before our flight), but were left waiting for over 40 minutes with no update, and eventually gave up and showered at the airport. To make things worse, the room’s lighting controls were confusing and poorly designed—we couldn’t manage to turn all the lights off at night. It seems we’re not alone, as other reviews mention the same issue. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. For a hotel that markets itself as five-star, the service and comfort fell far short. I would not recommend staying here

We had such a wonderful stay at Grand Park City Hall! The room was spacious, clean, and perfect for a family getaway. Service was warm and thoughtful, they even surprised my daughter with a birthday setup that made her day extra special. The location is super convenient (near City Hall MRT and shopping malls!), and we loved the Crystal Club perks like afternoon tea and evening bites. Highly recommend for families looking for comfort and a touch of luxury in the heart of the city! ✨

Our family stayed at the Grand Park City Hall and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious, the location is central to everything and the service was amazing. The staff at the Crystal Club (Kripa, Amanda, Darren, Iman and Gladys) were absolutely the best. We are vegetarian and they took great care to make sure that we had many options to eat and made us feel very welcome during our stay. We highly recommend this hotel!

Google
Have travelled to Singapore many times over the years and this is one of the best located hotels I have stayed in. Had a Crystal Club Deluxe room, which I couldn't fault. Comfortable and large with everything you need. Staff in the Club Lounge were exceptional. An asset to the hotel. Will definitely stay here again.

Google
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Grand Park City Hall. Very central with great shopping nearby and getting to local attractions is so easy. The buffet breakfast is great with lots of variety. The pool is large with lots of day beds and amenities, including a nice, well equipped, gym next to it. The pool closes at 10pm so treating yourself to a night time swim after a day out is a great treat. The room itself was the only let down. The fridge is NOT cold so don't look to put anything in it. Also, whilst I appreciate using technology to try and enhance your guest experience, the central control system is just over complicating what should be simple steps. A simple light, fan, and A/C switch would be so much better. On the positive side, the bed was super comfortable, the shower nice and hot, and the room really dark with great block out curtains. We found all the staff really friendly and helpful, especially the door guy's who always greeted us with a big smile and a laugh.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights and it's one of the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed at! Room was very clean and neat. Super convenient and walking distance to restaurants, historical landmarks and malls. I believe it's very close to public transportation as well. The staff here were so attentive and friendly! Complimentary breakfast from 6 am to 10:30 am.

Yelp
I checked in at 9pm. The concierge gave the details to get to the reception. There was no lineup at the reception. Got to my room and it was quite large. There were several issues that I noticed. The clock was off by 10 mins (too fast). Tried to fix it myself but had no success. The blinds for the shower had some grey spots at the bottom. Not sure if those were water stains or mould spores. The door handle for the toilet was not cleaned. I could clearly see fingerprint marks. Another major issue was that there was only one rack in the entire bathroom, making it difficult to hang both your shower towel and facewash towel. This was the same issue with the coat rack. It's behind doors which looks aesthetically pleasing but difficult to dry anything. The towels were replaced promptly daily but so were any unused shampoo and body wash, which I considered it as wasteful.

Yelp
I gave this place a one star rating because we were told that our room would be ready by 3pm. We have a time appt for the evening and need to change in our room to attend the event. If they told us to come back in an hour we could have left our luggage's with them and we could have gotten something to eat. We have wasted so far 45 minutes waiting for our room. I hope that I can update my rating if we get better service for the rest of the stay but so far, I am underwhelmed. No one comes to us and give us the status of our rooms.

Yelp
Clean, room is fine, staffs are friendly, location is good, walk way to MRT and bus station.

Yelp
Fine and dandy hotel. Stayed at this hotel on my honeymoon and it did the job. We weren't staying in Singapore for too long and this was a pretty good central local that was convenient to the MRT. My favorite part of the hotel was the Handy phone that they provide for you. We used that as a wifi Hotspot and we were able to access yelp and Internet everywhere we went! All of the ethnic enclaves were easily accessible from here and we were able to walk to the esplanade and raffles place from here. The mankasutra gluttons Bay hawker spot (open late) was a short walk away. Just cut across the field as you walk toward the water and walk under the bridge. No real complaints about this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
This is a nice hotel at a central location, so yay to that! They also provided us with a phone that we could use to tether off of and get wifi onto our own phones. If only more hotels offered that, too!

Yelp
This was my first trip to Singapore, looking for a centrally located hotel, and GPCH fit the bill. But WOW! Exceptional service at all levels from the door, through reception, the bar, breakfast, dinner... all professionally executed to perfection by a friendly knowledgeable staff. The rooms are among the best I have stayed in from New York to London to Dubai. Modern, Hi tech, elegant, inviting, and luxurious but not over the top. Order the Cin City Sour from Richard the bartender ... great location. I'll be back

Yelp
Oh dear. Under normal circumstances this might be an ok hotel but not at the moment. 1. Major and I mean major building works going on. Apparently for two years! Drilling through concrete for up to 8 hrs a day, 10-6pm. Can't avoid this anywhere in the hotel. 2. Exec deals but variable accommodation. Myself and two colleagues had the same package/room deal booked but I had the worst room. 3. Don't be fooled with Exec floor deals. Not what you'd expect from an exec club due to the following: a. Lacks power points b. Took an hour and a half to check in and get room. After 20hrs of travelling, this is last thing you want. c. Due to building works, it is impossible to work here. d. When drilling stops, wifi drops out so again, you struggle to work. e. Kids and babies running around/soundtrack of screaming. f. They ran out of soft drinks. Twice. Nobody thought to replenish. So I went to main reception and asked them to restock. Then two days later, out of soft drinks again. This time we wouldn't accept the 'there's none' and asked if someone could go and get some. They eventually came but the fridge still wasn't restocked. g. Breakfast ok but better options in the main downstairs area. Asked for omelette to be made the first day (gf options beyond fruit and yogurt limited) and that didn't go down well. Location is good but had such a poor experience. Staff friendly enough but when people are paying to stay in a building site, service has to be flawless to compensate. So, 2 stars.
