General Post Office

Even if you don’t actually need to send any mail, this beautiful historic building is well worth a stop. The exterior area offers benches and plenty of shade, making it a perfect spot for a short moment of calm away from the loud and chaotic streets of Bangkok. A small pause to breathe, sit down and reset🧘🏼‍♀️🙏🏻 Inside, you can also buy refreshing drinks, which makes the stop even more enjoyable 💦🧊 A surprisingly relaxing little oasis in the middle of Bangkok 🌴💌

General Post Office at Bangrak opens from 8am daily. A very vintage old school grand postal which locates in Bangrak area. 40s Art deco style with many interesting architectural built. There is a starbucks cafe inside as well. Inside they do sell many interesting collectible stamps too. Starbucks Cafe also nearby.

Such a beautiful post office! Easy to find, very clean and kind postal workers! I went to this post office to buy stamps and the postal worker was so kind he brought out all 4 baskets full of stamps! I took my time to pick the designs and he was very patient. A lot of stamp denominations ranging from 2 baht to 100 baht (If I remember correctly). Thailand has one of the most beautiful stamp designs I have ever seen. Beside the stamp shop is Starbucks connected to be building where you can drink coffee and write your postcards before dropping it off. I sent my postcards 6th August and received it 28th. Very fast! They even put on an airmail sticker :) Sending postcards from Thailand to the world (All countries) 60 Thai Baht.

Very cool building that is more than just a post office! Highly recommend some exploration, great place to stroll and around and discover new things. Upon arrival, you will find that the main lobby area is indeed a post office. Do venture past this, and poke around. There are some galleries, work spaces, and outdoor terraces to relax in as well.

A great old style buildings, No matter how many years have passed. Surroundings, buildings had lots changes, although the interior has changed over time, more modern, but the exterior architecture is still beautiful and unchanged. More than 20 years, this building used to be a full post office. Nowadays, there became museum, and events take place. During Covid, this part has closed for visit inside.

this grand postal building in neo classical architectural design was inaugurated as early as year 1940! and valued as a thailand cultural heritage. it is an elegant grandiose building with spacious interior, with exhibits and videos which showcase the history of thailand post office, its diffferent stages of development, and stamps issued with different themes and stamps marking special events and exhibits of posters/stamps of various design competition winners, it'd be more interesting if there are more english translation of the various exhibits (now mostly in Thai language)

The Art Deco style to the building is classic. The inside is spectacular with impressive counters marble carvings and even a chandelier! We also visited the Walk through a song line exhibition we we enjoyed it a lot. B

Taking sky train to Saphan Taksin station then walk on Charoen krung road for a kilometer then this Central Post Office is located on your left-hand side. Visitors can get inside for a quick view or even to use bathrooms which open for public. Also TCDC is in the same building that often has exhibitions organized here. Visitors may leave the main building and walk toward the back of main building where you can reach the open area next to the river. It is not new but it is Nice and hidden from new tourists.
