Well-positioned to be a hotel close to all the action of downtown Tokyo and also on a direct train line to the airport (Haneda is closer, but the Keikyu Line connects to both Haneda and Narita from Shinagawa station.) There is a frequently-scheduled shuttle bus to take you up the hill to the main entrance of the hotel, but it is also a lovely walk when the weather is fine. The room (king) was well-appointed with comfortable pillows, good quality towels and a host of bathroom amenities (bath salt, disposable but environmentally-friendly toothbrushes, razors). The room temp was easy to control. Some rooms have a good view of the Japanese garden, but this time we were treated to a Tokyo night skyline including a lit-up Tokyo Tower (until 22:00). Buffet breakfast is served in one of two restaurants, one in the hotel itself (Patio) and the other (Zakuro) in the Grand Prince Shin Takanawa, on thr other side of the garden - great for variety if you're staying more than 1 night.

We stayed here primarily because we wanted to be near Shinagawa station, which provided us easy access to all the places in Tokyo we wanted to visit, as well as the bullet train to Kyoto. We had a twin room on the club level. The "twin" beds are similar to Twin XL in the US, and a little wider, and were quite comfortable. The bathroom fixtures were dated, but certainly adequate. We also appreciated the calm of the adjacent garden after a day in the city. There's another Prince property on the other side of the garden that is more 5-star than this hotel if you wanted a better room, or access to premium restaurants. There's also Prince across the street from the station that seemed to have a lot of families with younger children. I might consider staying there if you wanted to walk less. We were tired by the end of the day and that walk up the hill was often hard on hotter days. When we left it was pouring rain so we took a quick cab to the station. BTW, if you are arriving with lots of luggage the taxis seem to line up on the east side of the station by the bullet train side. There's a Tullys BTW, on our return to Tokyo we stayed at the Marriott Ginza, and it was not as nice as this hotel.

Nice room. Good facilities. Beautiful garden that made the walk to Shinagawa station a pleasant experience. Very helpful staff. Looked after our luggage as we were hours too early.

Grounds of the hotel are beautiful including the garden! We’re staying in 1182 currently and room size is fair, the bathroom is on the small side and gives the vibe of airline toilet. Ceilings/floors do not appear soundproof, you can hear the person moving around in the room above- not ideal if you’re sleeping! Our room has view of Tōkyō tower which is nice!

Good hotel. It is a little older hotel but that has its advantage as rooms are bigger. The rooms have been remodeled and bathrooms are good sized. The lobby and facilities are nice. The breakfast options were good. The air-conditioning must be a water circulation system as the room temp would not go below 22C even if the thermostat was set at 18C. There is a nice garden behind the hotel that actually connects to another Grand Prince hotel.

The twin room (2 doublebeds) was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. When asked for, service from housekeeping to remove an extra bed from our room was extremely fast, courteous, and efficient. The location of the hotel is part of a complex of Prince hotels in the area, each situated around the edge of an exquisite Japanese garden. Unfortunately, due to a long-term construction project in front of Shinagawa Station, the hotel's free shuttle cannot pick up or drop off guests in front of the station as when we stayed there before. This was not made known to us in advance, and we had to walk with large suitcases up the long hill to the hotel the day of check in, and also walk to the station (about 1 minute) from a neighboring Prince hotel after taking the shuttle the morning of check out. This was the only part that made the trip less enjoyable.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel during our time in Tokyo and would recommend it to travelers looking for comfort and quality. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, with a stunning view over the city. The bed was large and incredibly comfortable, and we really appreciated the bathtub and generous storage space — something that’s not always easy to find in Tokyo hotels. The hotel itself is elegant, with a beautiful exterior and a welcoming reception area. That said, there are a few points worth noting: The cleanliness could be improved — it wasn’t terrible, but we did notice dust under the bed and on the shelves, which was a bit disappointing considering the otherwise high standard. The hotel is quite far from more interesting neighborhoods and public transportation, and to reach it you have to walk uphill, which becomes tiring after a long day of walking. It’s also a bit of a hassle to find the hotel entrance, as there are three hotels from the same group with very similar names nearby. Most of the main signs and directions seem to lead to the other two, which caused quite a bit of confusion when we arrived (Grand Prince Sakura and Grand Prince Shin Takanawa). Overall, this was a very good stay and the comfort of the room alone made it worth it — but a few practical aspects could definitely be improved.

I have had to do this as after 3 nights here i would never be back. The place is a building site. Noise is crazy and there is no way 4 star is correct. If your after a 4 star this is not it. Its justva super over sized trapp prob more for work people. Yehh garden nice but i dont sleep in there lol. Lights out in lobby phones out of order way to big takes like 6 mins just to get out of here. Lack of basic bathroom things. Elevator dirty and more. It is a very nice hotel. But not sure why it gets 4 star. I have stopped in a lot of 3 star hotels here in japan. And they where just as nice and even had more or better facilities. Like an Onsen of loads of free stuff sekection of pillows. The loctaion is not all that you will face a hefty up hill walk from station. Bit hard to find i could recommed 3 star for much less money. Ohh and my veiw is a car park and building site that is active. So in my opinion if you want true 4star look else where. Or just save money with a 3 star same thing.
