I Went to the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix — What It Was Like

"The 17-turn, 3.8-mile Las Vegas Strip Circuit was instantly iconic when it debuted for the Las Vegas Grand Prix last November. Watching F1 drivers reach breathtaking speeds over 200 miles per hour between the glittering casino lights — all sparkling for the nighttime race — along The Strip is incredible on TV, but it’s even better in person." - Elizabeth Rhodes Elizabeth Rhodes Elizabeth Rhodes is a special projects editor at Travel + Leisure, covering everything from luxury hotels to theme parks to must-pack travel products. As an avid Formula One fan, this was absolutely fantastic to visit. I will normally only see the grandstand view from television, but being there was a vibe. All the employees were extremely polite, very welcoming, lovely attitude, and outgoing personalities. Go karts for fun but to beat the higher times you definitely need to know when to deploy ERS. I was five seconds after the month fastest time and that could just be due to weight. 😅 Sims were pretty fun, but unfortunately it’s all automatic. There should be an option where if you do a specific time of the circuit, it qualifies you for a manual mode just my thought, but I got the fourth fastest time of the day.

The Grand Prix Plaza F1 experience was awesome. The staff was absolutely the best. They took their time with us and made sure had a great experience. They explained everything thoroughly and answered all of our questions. They even offered to take pictures of us with our phones. The museum was up to date with trophies, helmets, uniforms and stats. You can design your own car, lift and feel actual tires and take pics. There are go-karts to drive, racing simulators and a 4-D F1 car experience. Lots to do and see. If you love F1 this is the place to be. Have fun.

Google
To visit while in Vegas! Great exhibition space, interactive installations and an amazing racing space. The simulation ones can make you sick though 😵‍💫 The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. We spend probablement two hours there and time flew by! The gift shop is quite worth it as well.

We came here as a local because they were offering free F1 car driving simulations for the month. The online site and ticket process was a little confusing on timing. One thing said 11:00 a.m. to noon and the other said anytime after opening. I looked everywhere for a phone number to call as well as I emailed them days ahead. I never heard back from them. When arriving there was plenty of staff around so overall disappointing there was no one to call for information. One of the main F1 cars that was on display right next to the F1 simulator had a ton of dust on it. You would think they would at least do a quick easy dusting. Overall a very cool venue.

Definitely will be coming back!!! Worth the experience. My family and I did the f1 x , sims and drive. The staff were friendly and informative. I learned so much being here. The atmosphere is great. I came here a month ago 6/2 , since I travel for work just to check it out and pre buy tickets for the end of the month when I bring my whole family. I came back 6/23 and there supervisor Ariel instantly recognized me from a month ago ! She instantly asked us how we were doing and how our time was being there. She personally brought us downstairs for our drive appointment to get us checked in. She came back down an hour later when our drive finished up and thanked us for coming , she really made my family feel at home. She makes a great attribute to the company. There is no place greater than ones that make you feel welcomed. I will definitely be coming back.

Google
Great driving experience! Had so much fun! Clean has a bar/gift shop. Also had a simulator ride to try (not for the weak) with ticket purchase of course, prior to your race time.

Google
This was a really fun way to spend a couple hours during the heat of the day. The F1 simulators was a lot of fun and it was being offered for free when we were there. This is the only F1 pit building that allows visitors, so worth checking out if you are a fan.

Google
F1 X was a brilliant experience - lots of cool historical items on show, interactive/hands-on experiences and the staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. Even if you just have a passing interest in motorsport, it's a must-do. Being in the actual Las Vegas race building, above the pits on the Grid was a real treat. Pro tip: You can go outside on the walkway above the pits on the Grid as part of your experience.

Yelp
Grand Prix Plaza is a fantastic summer hotspot! They're located off Strip on Koval and Harmon. You'll find them diagonally from Top Golf Las Vegas with ample FREE parking. The building existed since the beginning of the first F1 race on November 18, 2023. The attraction for this building debut four weeks ago. Grand opening was on May 2, 2025. There are three floor levels at Grand Prix Plaza: F1 Drive, F1 Hub, and a Rooftop which is primarily reserved for special events. During the actual F1 race, the rooftop level becomes a high-end ticket offering a unique viewing experience for VIP guests. For something fun and exciting, they feature three onsite attractions: F1 Drive, F1 Sim, and F1 X. F1 Drive is the amazing indoor go-kart race, which is located on the first floor level. This experience is strictly timed and well-organized, you get two 15-minute on track experience for the Elite level, which is ideal for ages 16 years and older. Each race allows up to 20 drivers at a time and at night, the outdoor track glows! If you do sign up for the F1 Drive, you have to be there 15 minutes prior and sign a waiver. Attire is casual, no loose clothing, wear closed toe shoes, and long hair should be tied. There is security enforced, they do a bag check if you're carrying something large like a backpack, and it's really best to go light, just bring a small purse or fanny pack. The other two attractions, F1 Sim (an immersive car racing simulator) and F1 X (Interactive museum) is located at F1 Hub, which is the second floor level. You can get there via escalator. They offer a nice bundle package to try different attractions, and discounts are available for Nevada local residents and military. F1 Hub also has a retail store, you'll find a clean restroom on this floor, and there's a lovely bar called F1 Hub Lounge. The lounge is very spacious and inviting, has cozy seating and great music, overall just good vibes! There are screens around featuring video clips of F1 race and it's such a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy good drinks. There's also a magnificent restaurant called Fuel & Fork, which is located on the second floor level but it's NOT part of F1 Hub. They are independently owned and available to the public for dining. You'll definitely find them a further walk passed the Hall of Champions. So far everyone in the staff is very kind, professional, and welcoming, including Chris, Sy, and Shaun from security, Noel and Ron from F1 Drive, Vanya, Chelsea, and Ben from F1 Hub. I felt safe and secure knowing that the staff members are there to help make this an awesome experience. Most especially Vanya, she made my first visit incredibly rewarding and offered a friendly tour of F1 Hub, she is super knowledgeable, courteous, polite, and accommodating. Thank you to all the staff members at Grand Prix Plaza for a wonderful experience, it was so memorable and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We had a great family day. We got there early to Do the complimentary simulator driving course and it was a lot of fun. Then we finally went down for our slotted time to race the actual cars. The practice laps were fun and helps you get the hang of things. I wish the staff paid more attention to the asshat customers driving and not listening to the rules or respecting other customers. We had 3 old men in their 60s be little bullies to Everyone on the track. Didn't matter if you're 10 or 50 yrs old, these asshats blocked you and than ramped you into the wall. The employees that give the rules should also Apply them. Rules are as useless as tits on a bull when you don't apply them.

Yelp
The F1 karting track is awesome. Its a bummer though staff are unorganized and do not enforce the rules of "no bumping." A bunch of kids decided to play dirty and started bumping and pushing others to the wall causing yellow flags. No repercussions. Poor reputation of F1. The store and museum is great though!

Yelp
Really good spot to check out if you're an f1 fan. There is a restaurant also so grab something to eat and drink while you're here. The sims were free when i went and there's a good amount of them to try. Definitely get a ticket to race downstairs and do try the F1X.
google avatar

Abhishek K.

Yelp
The people here are so cool and you can enjoy real time Formula 1 racing for free like a PlayStation game, at the Grand Prix. You'll get to experience real-time laps both inside and outside the track and you'll really love it. It's down stairs. They also have a live experience upstairs for just $59, which is totally worth it you can take pictures, build your own and even change the tires. They did the same thing at the Wynn last year!!

Yelp
Got the 3 lap ticket but I do have to warn people to arrive 30min early than what your ticket says. Our ticket was for 1030pm and we got there around 1020ish and missed the practice lap. We thought it would start at 1030. But we still got to do the last two laps which was really fun. There was a few things that took from the experience is sometimes the rules were a little too strict. I understand that they were for safety but there were a couple of events when someone else lost control hit my car and made me hit a wall resulting to blocking other cars. I was dinged for it and continued to be flagged when other people hit me. Even minor mistakes it got me flagged and I think that took some of the fun out of the race. The last lap I just ended up driving instead of "racing." Anyway, it was still fun but I could tell the staff was short tempered maybe cos it was the late and they were almost closing. Still a cool activity to try though.

Yelp
Don't: do the restaurant Do: book on a weekday for a private feel Staff is super friendly and involved. The price is definitely worth it as a local. They have several rooms with different memorabilia, multiple touch screens, and interactive experiences. There are multiple cars on display and tons of tvs. We went on a tuesday and were able to purchase any extra: go kart races and simulator rides on site.

Yelp
Totally fun experience . The only thing that wasn't great were the people that take the racing to serious and keep bumping you . They say there's no bumping aloud but the employees can only see so much . The employees were helpful and nice . The track is a little narrow which makes it difficult to pass but it was fun . Will do it again . They also make you go over a quick safety briefing and waiver signing .

Yelp
F1 X: 3/5 stars F1 Simulator: 4/5 F1 Drive: 1/5 (for the $99 experience) F1 Store: 1/5 F1 Fuel & Fork: 2/5 --F1 X-- the museum is cool if you're into F1 like I am, but way less interesting if you don't care for the sport. I went at a discounted rate of $49 which I thought was a really fair price, but $79 before tax is wild! That's a ripoff for the experience. There were a couple of cool features like the pit stop tire change and a reaction button test to the lights out start of a race. But there were also super lame gimmicks like the create your own livery and the 4D theatre experience. It's amazing how much F1 spends on race day filming, yet their theatre video was a blurry pixelated mess. I understand helmet cams aren't the best quality, but the entire beginning and end was unwatchable. The most notable thing about the overall museum is you're corralled in each room. It's basically like cattle being pushed into a new pen. It's a really weird feeling and you can't really go as fast or as slow as you want because you can't go room to room without an employee removing a rope or unlocking a doorway for you to go into next. --F1 Simulator-- it was free on the day I went, and I really liked the experience! It also lets you drive multiple laps, which was cool because you get the hang of the track. I wish they'd place some type of coat rack/clothing hangar nearby to place your things while you race. I hope they keep it as a free option, I fear how high they'd price it! --F1 Drive-- I did the Grand Prix 3 Races for $100 and it SUCKED. Fastest Lap - 1 Race for around $39 is the only way to go. They don't give any instruction on how to drive, what is safe, how racing lines work and nearly everyone in my experience were hit from behind or spun out by a couple of young men who didn't care about how to properly overtake. The driving itself is cool, but don't get involved in the longer races because the company does nothing to tell people how to drive and your neck and lower back will be in pain days later just like all of us. **The fastest lap spreads the pack out so you're not going to get hit, avoid the other more expensive options and go for that one** The pricer options also keep you there for a longggg time while you wait for other races to go in between your drives and there's no place to drink water, which multiple people complained about. I also wanted to mention the F1 Store. I was under the impression that there was going to be unique or exclusive items there, but it was really lackluster. You're better off shopping on the teams store or F1's website. I ate at Fuel & Fork and the food was not very good and had no seasoning. I ordered a bloody mary and it was sooo bad, but the people there were kind enough to remove it from my bill and I ordered something else that was much better. I was grateful to the kind people who worked there, but this is Vegas and there's about a million better places to get a meal. I will say the decor was cool, I liked the way it was designed! Maybe pop by for a drink and avoid the food.

Yelp
If you're an f1 fan, check out the F1 X attraction! There was SO much history, memorabilia, interactive exhibits, and so much more! Every single staff member was absolutely amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable. My friends who came with don't know much about F1, but they still had a blast and enjoyed the entire experience!
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
The whole museum experience was incredible! I didn't do the Sim or Kart racing but I did get to enjoy the interactive museum! Great for car/race geeks! Way better than the Sphere, and cheaper too!! Well worth the price of admission! Lots of history and you get to peak a little behind the curtain. You even get to appreciate the pit crew! Not easy work!! Loved this experience! And the whole staff from top to bottom were amazing!!

Yelp
This was absolutely a must do at least once as expensive as it was. Now we, didn't do the racing portion. The F1 experience was good with lots to look at and interactive for the whole family except the changing of the F1 tire (must be 18). I must give a shout out to Monique that helped us at the kiosk. They had military and child discounts up to age 12. She helped us immensely. After the F1 experience that we all 3 did, my husband and son did the simulation part while I chilled talking with the bartender drinking a 25 dollar glass of Rose'. They have a super nice lounge area too where you gone relax with friends or you can step outside to watch the races around the track which I did too. They also have a souvenir shop also but Im not too buying their 70-80 dollar hats and 100 dollar dry-fit collared shirt as nice as they are but damnity that's expensive. The expense of it all, I had to take a star off cuz their was nothing moderately priced. Other than that, it was good family fun.

Yelp
We had an amazing salad, pizza, and sliders. The salad had a had a good mix of apples, veggies and nuts and golden raisins. Pizza wasn't that bad at all. Just the plain old jalapeño and pepperoni. The slider were also pretty good.

Kim P.

Yelp
We only did the F1 go cart racing but visited the gift shop, bar, and watched others drive the F1 simulators. Great fun for everyone over the age of 12. Very well organized. Be sure to fill out your waivers before you go OR get there 30 mins before your reserved time or they will reschedule you. It's all run on a very exact schedule. Will definitely schedule the F1 Sims on our next visit. Highly recommend if you're looking for something different to do in Vegas.
google avatar

Jayson S.

Yelp
Ok it's cool to see, But after waiting an hour for the simulators, we were ready to leave. A time limit is need on the simulators. The go carts are over priced . The shop is overpriced , I looked at the prices on line, but in the store they are double. They definitely need more here. Maybe bring in more cars or something, There was two. Seemed pretty boring and I don't see the point. I probably won't return.

Yelp
Highly do not recommend the F1 Go Karting Experience and if you do, make sure to DOUBLE CHECK/CONFIRM if the front staff upon check-in gave you your correct name wristlets as they have made an error and gave out the wrong wristlets which created a complication throughout the process of the race/scoreboard. When clearly I was not at fault and did not realize they gave out the incorrect name of the wristlet until the race started your name reflects on the scoreboard. I had the race staff asking me why my name was switched out when I had to explain that the front staff made an error. ALSO, beware of some Kart drivers DO NOT follow instructions and bump into you as if it is Bumper cars and BLOCK you despite slow drivers are to be on the right side (you'll still be bumped into despite being on right side) as if this is a real F1 race. Ridiculous. Please experience everything else OTHER than the go-Kart. I do recommend the F1 X experience which is more spacious with friendly staff. The tracks are just way to narrow and not enough instructions are provided for FIRST TIME Go-Kart drivers. The neck brace and helmets are truly necessary as it can get seriously dangerous.

Yelp
I was here on the opening day when they opened at 10AM, among the first to enter the building. Great accommodations and great place to visit if you're in Vegas and love Formula One!
google avatar

Keith L.

Yelp
The interactive simulator was a great warm up,, then we did the F1 Drive go cart racing- that was fun: but they put 20 people on the track at a time . - too many ignorant people and young people causing accidents and blocking you from passing driving slow. Still had fun after I passed all the imbeciles and took first place. The store has nice clothing for sale- high priced.
google avatar

Sidharth C.

Yelp
Why are there so many hoops you have to go through to pay your own money to ride the simulator. A kiosk that crashed and we had to input our data over again. Then it was a headache pulling up tix because I misspelled my email. Do better

Vanessa L.

Yelp
We had such a great time doing the F1 kart racing! We arrived early which was nice to see what we were getting into. The crew was great, very kind, informative and made it really fun. As a novice I felt more than comfortable. We did the 3 races and had a blast. The track had lights and even a little outdoor moment. I loved the fact the karts were electric because we didn't have the smell of gasoline lingering. The price is worth the fun, I'd do it all over again.
google avatar

Brie M.

Yelp
The bartender who served us on May 4th around 12/1pm was so personable and sweet, I don't remember her name, but a woman with great vibes, she made our experience fun! This place was cool to check out and get a feel for the Grand Prix and what they're all about. Merch was cute too and like a lot of F1 anything... a bit expensive but worth checking it out.

Katie R.

Yelp
The museum, sim racing, and F1X experiences were very fun and informative. Unfortunately, it is expensive and some of the experiences such as the designing your own car were a bit underwhelming for the price. You don't have many customization options, you go into a room where they project your car and take a picture that you can't look at and have to purchase later at a kiosk. I didn't even get to see my car as it was only projected for the time to take the picture. The restaurant's food was very good however our service was poor especially for the price. We never got refills on our water that the waitress only filled halfway. I wouldn't recommend the karting experience. It was extremely unorganized. They put the names wrong on the cars so while the other 15 drivers were out doing laps, me and four others were stuck waiting for it to be fixed, so they all got 3-4 more laps in their experience than me. Also, they have a no bumping policy (they make you chant it 3 times in the briefing room) but this was not enforced at all. Maybe I had a particularly rough group, however almost my entire experience I was getting bumped into and put in the walls. They never explain how the karts work so when I was spun by the people bumping everyone (that were bragging about how they come all the time to race), I was stuck and confused on how to turn around. The employee yelled at me for not knowing that you have to hold down the reverse button then push drive again and take your foot completely off the brake. The ERS and DRS are also never explained. The karting really ruined my experience and hurt my back and neck. For how much I paid, they should have more instruction and oversight.

Corey P.

Yelp
Zero customer service, rude managers, pretty dumpy. Save your money to spend on anything else in the town. They need to do way better.

Brian A.

Yelp
Very disorganized, no clear instructions or answers to questions about how to proceed. There was an entrance on the ground level for go carts, with no instructions on how to get to the displays. On the second level, the information desk had nobody there. We followed signs that we thought would lead us to the restaurant and display area, but after going down a long hallway (150 ft. Plus) we came across an entrance that was unmanned. We entered and a person stopped us to ask where were our tickets? She said we were supposed to get tickets at the Information Desk. We told her there was nobody there. She didn't believe use, then got on the radio and found out we were correct. We went back there and found a supervisor instructing other employees on where to stand. She told us (without ever going behind the information counter) that we needed to purchase tickets at the kiosk. After spending 1.5 hours trying to get in (and it was freezing cold in there) we gave up. We may try again tomorrow, or maybe we will just say screw it, whatever it is, it's not worth the hassle.

Ariana W.

Yelp
I always read positive reviews and think it's got to be a bot. I can assure you I am not. Haha. This was an amazing day! We went with the family to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a ball! The F1 X experience itself was so much fun. You go room to room and participate in all the action of a real F1 driver and crew; 4D driver simulation, be a pit crew in a tire change, create your own team, design your own car AND see it in life.... We all "rode" the SIMS multiple times which was great because we got to test our knowledge before and after the experience. Of course we were better drivers after. Hahaha. My husband and dad also did the F1 Drive and loved every second. Last, we had lunch at their restaurant, Fork and Fuel. The food was amazing and really reasonably priced. The staff in every area we went were happy, helpful, and fun. Give yourself more time than you think you'll need because you won't want to leave. I absolutely feel like we got more than our money's worth and had a great day of fun with the family. If you're on the fence and a fan of racing, just do it! You won't regret it.
