Grand Targhee Resort

Hotel Grand Targhee Resort feels like a hidden gem! I stayed in the Sioux Lodge, and the room had an old casa-style charm. There was a cozy bunk bed in the corner with a partition, a main bed, dining table, and sitting area. The balcony offered beautiful views and was perfect for relaxing. It’s a ski resort with lots of activities, a nice pool, bars, and a breakfast place. The last 7 miles of the drive were a bit scary—I was the only one on the road—but once I reached the resort, I was so happy I made it. The peaceful vibe, stunning views, and friendly atmosphere made it all worth it!

The pool is a great place for kids and adults to hang out and have fun, the area around the lodge is very beautiful, you have a great view of the mountains. Also you will probably see some animals such as bears, elk, and moose. The rooms were very nice and spacious!

Except for the location, the Grand Targhee Resort is one of the worst property I have ever stayed in a mountain region. The room (we took in the Soux Lodge). Extremely disappointed with our stay at Grand Targhee Resort. The room was in poor condition — non-working fridge, barely any usable outlets, and extremely weak internet that kept cutting out. The charging cables they provided didn’t even work properly. The front desk wasn’t reachable by phone in the mornings. They claim to have five restaurants, but only one was open (until 8 PM). The others were closed, leaving us without options late in the day. Worst of all, the water quality was so bad I developed skin rashes. Not worth the price or the inconvenience. Definitely not coming back.

Skiing was amazing. Well worth the drive over from Jackson. Great lift service with short lines. The mountain is so big relative to the number of lifts, even on a busy day it wouldn't feel crowded on the hill. The base lodge and area was crowded with families there for a USSS race but the rest of the mountain was practically empty on a powder day.

Grand Targhee Ski Resort is an absolute gem! The snow here is consistently fantastic—soft, fluffy, and plentiful. It’s like skiing on a cloud, with fresh powder almost every day. One of the best things about this resort is the lack of lift lines. It’s so refreshing to glide straight onto the lift without waiting for long periods, which makes a huge difference in your overall experience. The terrain offers a great mix for all skill levels, and the views are breathtaking. Whether you’re an advanced skier or a beginner, Grand Targhee has something special to offer. It’s a hidden treasure for anyone looking to escape the crowds and enjoy some of the best skiing conditions around. Highly recommend!

Too thin of walls. I could hear EVERYTHING from upstairs. Sounded like someone had a horse above me. If you stay here request a top floor room. People and location top notch!!!

Had an accounting hiccup and they really made it right. Great service, beautiful facility. But then I get a noise complaint from security when I've been quiet in my room for hours, with a rude security guy at my door at 11:20PM I don't recommend this place at all if you wish to have a drama-free relaxing vacation.

My wife and I got married here just back in June and had the best experience. First, the resort was perfect for a destination wedding. The little village was a perfect place for all our friends and family to meet and hang out over the course of the weekend. The lodging was perfect for what we needed and there is quite a bit to do at the resort and in the surrounding area so nobody was bored. The wedding festivities were awesome! We had the rehearsal dinner and welcome party in the Trap Bar and it was a riot. The bartenders absolutely killed it, especially because our little welcome party ended up being a pretty big rager at the bar. But the bartenders kept everyone's drinks full and all our guests had a blast. The wedding itself was AMAZING. We got lucky with the weather, but the day of the wedding was so low stress for me and my wife...Madi and her team handled everything including putting up the decorations and pictures we brought. It allowed us to spend the day with friends and family and getting ready which we really appreciated. The lawn where they host the wedding ceremony is beautiful and then right after you have cocktail hour right there on the deck and lawn. Later you funnel down to the tent for the reception which is tucked away in the beautiful Aspen trees. And last, we were able to rent the Trap Bar after the reception for a little after party to keep the party going. Also, the food was amazing! We had multiple people tell us how much fun they had, how pretty the venue was, and how good the food was. Highly recommended for a wedding! Can't wait to come back and ski and mountain bike for some weekend trips in the future Cheers and thanks to Madi and the entire events and catering crew for absolutely killing it!

What a beautiful place! Nate and I stayed at Grand Targhee Resort for three nights recently for our friends' wedding. Checking in was easy and we got the lowdown on all the amenities including a few restaurants and a couple bars, a general store, gift/outfitter shop, and more. Unfortunately we never saw Willie the one-eyed cat who lives at the resort, but I'm following him on Instagram now! Our room was right in the Teewinot Lodge, which is next door to the check in lobby. The double queen room was spacious and had a mini fridge with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, dry guy for wet boots/gloves, iron and ironing board, a small fan, and a hair dryer. There was no air conditioning, but the fan was great with open windows at night. Our first evening, we enjoyed the heated outdoor pool and hot tub, and had the whole area to ourselves. We had food and drinks from the Trap Bar and the Branding Iron grill while there, and everything was great. 99% of the employees we interacted with at the resort were super friendly and kind. The views all around the resort are wonderful, and we took the scenic Dreamcatcher chairlift up to get an even better view of the mountains from up top. There are lots of activities to do, including lots of hiking and mountain biking trails, kids' activities, etc. The rooms are a bit older, so there are fewer outlets than you may be used to in more modern hotels, but we made it work. I'm so glad we got to experience this resort for a few days. There's not a ton around, but you can drive into Driggs or Victor to grab dinner or some groceries. Jackson is about an hour drive from Targhee.

I've heard so much great things about this place, yet our experience was very mediocre. Came here to ride for a day to try it out. There's only six lift chairs on the whole mountain, so not a lot of train or a big resort. The train was OK, not difficult or interesting. And on the day we were there due to a little bit of a breeze, it wasn't even that windy, they closed two of the big main chair lifts so only a quarter of the mountain was accessible via the other chairs. It was such a waste of money. Also the chair lifts are super old-school, it does not slow down for you when you're trying to get on the chairlift, and it is very dangerous. They have not upgraded their technology for many many many years. The food selection is also slim, not a lot of variety and high priced to be expected. Overall it was good to try it out once and check it off the list, but we would most likely not return.

Attended a wedding the first weekend it opened for the summer season. This is the perfect location for an outdoor wedding. The grounds are beautiful. The mountains make a gorgeous backdrop. The food in the trap bar, coffee shop, and catered events was fantastic. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I was most impressed with the staff. They were all friendly and accommodating. The front desk seemed happy to see us. The manager of the coffee shop and restaurant was especially gracious and helpful for me. Every staff member I encountered seemed genuinely happy to help. The wedding was beautiful and perfect. It was a very enjoyable weekend.

We really liked Grand Targhee. It's part of the Mountain Collective. So, after three days at Jackson Hole we drove across Teton Pass for two days of riding here. Deep powder for both days. This was a fun mountain to ride. Our first day was clear and we went all over the mountain checking out new terrain. By the end of that day another storm was rolling in. It was also a Saturday and we crossed our fingers on the parking lot wait line hoping we wouldn't be turned away. We were in luck and snagged one of the last remaining spots. Off to the lifts, where the lines were long. After finally getting to the summit, it was a whiteout. Wind and snow were blowing everywhere and limited visibility to just a few turns. Riders on the storm. After losing my wife in the whiteout and dealing with a nerve wracking wait to reunite, we decided to opt for the bunny chair and stuck to the lower elevations. Sadly, there were still long lines for a run that was over in a few minutes. I did love those runs through the trees and found powder stashes that newbs had overlooked. We had a great time at Grand Targhee. They could use a few more lifts and something sheltered like a gondi.

Skiing 5 stars Everything else 3 stars We got lucky with the weather and skied some of the deepest powder in the 3rd week of February. The amount and the quality of snow was top notch!! I'd say the only other place that compares to Targhee in terms of powder skiing is Niseko, Japan. Not only there was lot of fresh snow on the ground at the beginning of the day, it snowed throughout the day so we had 'free refill' kinda days. Amazing!!! The trees are spaced out perfectly, so it was really fun skiing in the trees (especially off the Blackfoot lift). I don't think I stopped smiling. People are super friendly and down to earth. No Vail or Aspen type attitude here. The not-so-good: The mountain is also known as "Grand Foggy" - and they aren't kidding. The top half of the mountain was pretty much invisible the whole time we were there. Low visibility lens is a MUST! Lifts - they need more lifts!! The line at Dreamcatcher (the main lift) was quite long, especially on Saturday. Yeah, I know, Saturdays are the worst ski days at any resort, but a lot of resorts have multiple lifts to take from the base area (or multiple base areas), so people can spread out. At Targhee, there is only one base and there is really one lift to start your day (ok, 2, if you count Sacajawea). From the top of Dreamcatcher, unless you go off to the Blackfoot lift, you come back down to the base area . . . to get in line at Dreamcatcher again . . . But the good thing is, even though the lift lines are long, the runs are not crowded at all. So it's not like you have to ski with a bunch of people. Parking/Traffic - horrible. We were staying at the Teton Teepee Lodge. It took us 15 minutes to get up to the mountain on Friday, but took us 45 minutes on Saturday!! The uphill traffic in the morning is pretty bad and they don't have enough parking... So keep that in mind if you're going to ski/ride on weekends. I've been to most of top 20 ski resorts in North America (it's my passion). I'd give Targhee a B+. Don't get me wrong, the skiing at Targhee is excellent. It's just that the infrastructure needs some improvement. Would I be back? Heck yeah. Already planning to stay at the Teepee lodge for a week and ski Mon-Fri next season.

Big fans. We've skied all over the map-- you name it. We tend to really like the mountains that aren't super grandiose because they feel warmer and friendlier, if that makes sense. We just love finding the little holes and local joints and generally have the best time there. This is more than a local joint-- yes, only 4 lifts, but decent amount of terrain being serviced by the 4. Even with our 7yo and 9yo, we were able to go up all the lifts and especially love the Dreamcatcher that takes you, on a clear day, right to the back of the Grand Teton Mountains. It's just as gorgeous as most other places we've been with those smoking views. We got lucky to have visibility at the top, as we know this is rare! The kids zone area was LEGIT! So much was done to make this a fun place for kids. There was a bobsled area, lots of tree skiing for kids, scavenger hunt decorated trees, terrain park... so much cool stuff! Unsung hero.

Stayed at the Sioux Lodge Suites at Grand Targhee the first part of August to mountain bike. The suites are older and could use a face lift. It was still warm enough in the daytime and the evening that it was hot in the rooms because their was not AC units, we had to leave the windows opens. The problem with the downstairs is there were not screen covers and the windows opened all the way at were at ground level. The suite was nice to have a sofa couch upstairs, kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator and bathroom. The downstairs had one queen bedroom, bathroom, and another room with two sets of bunk beds. Great for large families. They had the pool open in the daytime, but it was packed with families so we didn't get a chance to try it out. They only had one lift open to access the trails for hiking and mountain biking. They did limit the number of people staying and they only offered food at a tent outside for lunch and dinner with hot dogs, brats, burger, and sandwich options and a bar with outside seating until 7- 8 pm daily. they had another restaurant open in the mornings for breakfast items to pick up and eat. The trails were the same as the year before, pretty choppy at the top half and then they started to smooth out at the lower half of the mountain. It's a nice place to come and relax if you are willing to travel in the daytime if you want to do something other than hike or mountain bike.

This review is biased and only based on The fact went drink the summertime and only for a place to spend the night! The scenery is beautiful the staff is great customer service is awesome! However call me dumb but if you're in the Tetons it is a long way all the way over here. Only stay here if you're planning on doing the summer activities. It seems like a lot of the stores and restaurants closed a little bit early and didn't open up till later in the day. Air conditioning at all but then again it's typically a winter resort mountains open the windows. I'm sure this place is just great in the winter time they even have a laundry and they even left the heat running for us when we showed up in July which was a little bit irritating. Only other thing I can think of is it takes a long time for the hot water to get to your room depending on where your room is, but I'm also assuming that's because it's not heavily this summer as a hotel

**VETERANS STAY AWAY** I reserved a room here, along with two other rooms in other locations, through Expedia for a family vacation to both Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks. Sadly, my aunt passed away suddenly in Oregon, to which the services were during our planned vacation week, so we had to cancel the trip. The other two hotels we had booked, were fully understanding, and refunded my money, and even gave condolences. NOT THIS ONE. They first lied ("Charles F."), and told me that Expedia had a strict cancellation policy, and to contact them to try to get a refund. Which I did, but then Expedia came back and stated that the hotel had refused the refund when the Expedia agent contacted them. I contacted the hotel, and, then they doubled down and said it was a non refundable booking and that they would NOT refund, regardless of the circumstances. I explained again that it was an unforeseen family emergency and that I was a disabled combat veteran, and that this was unprofessional conduct. Then, they again refused. HORRIBLE! This was during peak summer tourist season! So what they ended up doing was - ripping me off, and then they rebooked the room and double profited off of it! I'm still pissed about this whole thing, as any veteran or person would be. Financial greed exposed!

Worst experience at a ski resort ever. We waited in line for over an hour only to be told along with our partner season pass we needed an email confirmation of the type of season pass we have. We were told to use their nonexistent wifi to find the confirmation and return to the back of the line - this was by the activities center manager who was no better than any of her staff. My husband used his pass there without issue two weeks ago. We were told that was no longer acceptable and given zero assistance. There are plenty of beautiful ski resorts in this area do not waste your time here. I'm from Idaho and I've been to Targhee many times - I may as well go stand in line at Jackson Hole or the Cottonwoods. Being treated like this is definitely not worth the drive.

The skiing and snowboarding is 5 stars. The lodging is insanely unpleasant. The rooms do not have any amenities like fridge or microwave unless you want to book a 2 room suite that sleeps like 8 people? The only option for small couples was the targ lodge with nothing but two beds and a tv. The beds are rock solid. You can hear everyone outside your room and in the rooms next to you. They have old heaters on the floor that kick on and kick off all night with horrible loud ticking sounds. The heat is so dry we bought a humidifier to stay here. The bathrooms are super outdated. Our tub had patches on it and the toilet took at least 5 minutes to flush and then would run for another 5 minutes. At 6 am a worker came around and started scraping snow off of the roof and in front of our door and again it was loud enough to wake us up. The only plus is there's no bed bugs. My husband enjoyed the pool and hot tub and skiing. We ended up leaving early and booking a room at a hotel in the city. For 200 a night you'd think you would be getting at least some updates facilities we spent under 200 for the new room at the hotel with king size bed, microwave, fridge and an actual bathroom. Edit: I took a video of the sound of the heater all night but it won't let me post.

Came here for a ski/snowboarding trip. A really small hidden gem in this area that was wonderful for snowboarding. I think there were 4 lifts each beautifully groomed when I was there. Not packed with visitors like the bigger more popular resorts either. Easy to get around since it was so small. The actual resort was a bit outdated but only stayed there to sleep so not much to complain about. Definitely preferred this one over some of the more well known resorts

This particular mountain is unique and rare on its own. Compared to most resorts that gouge you for the expensive part of your day and gouge you for the food you eat, it couldn't be more like the best and perfect mountain to ride as both a beginner or expert as a skier or snowboarder. The staff are always pleased to help and make every experience memorable. I would recommend Ski Trainer Mark as he's always going out of his way to make your experience more fun. This mountain is the "Hidden Gem" of all the resorts combined. Whether just leaning to ride or have been riding for a few years, you will find something special that will leave you saying "I love Targhee"

Three un answered e mails, 2 un returned voicemails, twice on hold for over two hours and still no response from the resort. I have even tried calling the front desk and still cannot reach a single human being. Zero customer service, do not waste your time booking a room here. If they clean the way they answer phones the place is probably disease filled.

If you want to be right next to the ski lift in the winter, you're in the right place. And in summer, if you are an avid mountain biker, you have plenty of trails. Other than that - meh. I was in the Targhee Lodge and, as noted, the building is very old and rooms are not air conditioned. The only place the window opened was about 12" at the bottom near the floor. The shower stall was so small that when I had my back to the shower spray, my nose was about an inch away from the wall. People over ~5'8" will find that they need to duck to get their hair wet too. The campground is not near the lodge buildings. I did not check out the area but it looked like the camping spots had absolutely no shade. It also looks like there are no amenities. I did not see any shower building and just porta potties. Because of COVID, the food options are extremely limited. For breakfast, the choices were one of three breakfast burritos. They did say the other option was to go to their little store, buy a frozen breakfast sandwich and heat it up. For lunch, they set up a grill with brats and hot dogs. Dinner had distanced seating either outdoors or indoors - and a limited menu that did not change. So considering the limited options and high prices, if there are more than two people in the party, pay extra and reserve a townhome or condo and bring your own food to cook (you'll save money overall too). As an alternative, consider driving into Driggs, ID to eat. During the summer, they had one ski lift open to transport mountain bikers/bike and hikers to the top. So it does not go to all the trails in the area. I got one pass for the lift when I checked in. It is supposed to be for a round trip but I chose to go up and then hike down. I picked out a path for hiking only labeled as "moderate' - the Bannock hiking trail. It made no mention of possibly tricky footing. Well, it was tricky enough that it took me one hour to go the first mile - rocks and near the edge. After a while more, it got near a cross country/hiking path and started down that instead - a lot easier. But the trails are not labeled so I just kept picking different paths to get down. there are service roads that also go up to the top but these dirt roads have so much loose gravel on them that it was even more dangerous to walk on them. I was grateful that I actually made it down without falling or injuring myself.

This place has a wonderful network of biking and hiking trials! There are places to eat that will fill your hunger but not really worth a trip up to dine. We came up for their 50/100 mtb race, pierres hole snd stayed as a team of five at Sioux lodge. Nothing fancy and in need if some upkeep but It was adequate .

Such a nice place to ski/board. According to Jackson locals, Targhee usually has better conditions than Jackson Hole. Well, on the day we went, they'd gotten 16 inches in the last 24 hrs and conditions were great. Now when you get a good fresh, deep coating of new snow, the plows can only work so fast to groom runs. That being said, a lot of the runs were not groomed...which was just what we were looking for! According to locals, driving the Teton Pass (WY 22) isn't much of a problem when it's snowing. They said the Teton Pass rarely closes and if it does, it's not for long. Our rental truck was a 4x4 so we weren't too concerned. Parking (midweek) at the hill wasn't a problem either. There's a few nice places to grab something to eat and or drink (see specific post for those reviews). I would have given this place 5 stars, but hill management left us stranded and walking a ways to get back to the base lodge. Apparently, they don't clear ALL runs going to chair lifts before closing it down! So be prepared to walk if you like catching last runs!

My original post was three pages long; I went through our entire experience but realized that my life now is more important than stressing over this situation any longer. Good luck trying to plan a wedding here if you aren't local. Communication through phone calls and emails can sometimes go over a week without response. Then there is Suzanne Rees, the Wedding Coordinator. There were numerous accounts of Suzanne being rude and disrespectful towards the bride and groom, along with all twelve "guests" whom were all immediate family members that can attest to such. She made comments such as "this isn't my first wedding" and "this isn't your wedding". We were an inconvenience to her. Not a good feeling, especially as the bride! My wedding was at 3:30pm and she arrived at noon to set-up. She did not try to get to know me, nor what vision I had for my big day. Her arrival time would not have sufficed for the amount of work that needed to be done. Myself and three other family members decorated and merely finished by the time she had arrived. Not to mention she nearly knocked over our florist when she kicked out a table from underneath to attempt to replace the broken one. She radiated tension... Not okay. Never got a congratulations from her either, and she disappeared as soon as her "shift" ended without one word. We were of zero importance to her and she made that perfectly clear. The resort itself caters to skiers/bikers first and foremost. There are no king-sized beds on the entire property. No elevators. No carts for help with luggage (the property is built on an incline). The "honeymoon suite" is a family cabin with bunk beds and a small queen bed up another stair set inside the room (once you've climbed the three flights to get to the fourth floor first). Remember, no elevators. Our patio screen had spider webs covering it and our shower head did not work properly. Nothing "honeymoon" about it. Oh and don't even bother showing up early because check-in isn't until 4pm. And don't even think about asking for early access to the "honeymoon suite" to put in the bride and groom's luggage. Some of my family missed out on photos because they had to stay back and move our stuff since our wedding was at 3:30pm and we didn't have access till after 4pm. Bottom line is that Suzanne Rees has no business being in the wedding field. The resort is basically a ski resort that dabbles in weddings. It is in a beautiful setting and the photos up the lift have such potential. Was it worth the stress and headache? Yes, but because our families made our wedding special, and I credit them for that. This review serves as a warning to any bride/wedding party considering this as their venue. I also posted my review (full story) on Wedding Wire but the resort disputed it. I guess they didn't want people knowing just how terrible our experience was...

The good old days are gone. I've been skiing Targhee for 30 years and buying season passes for most of the past 15. Not sure I'll do it again. With global warming, the frequent days of massive powder dumps are over. And with the collectivization of inter-area passes, the crowds and congestion make it undesirable to ski there most of the time. The mountain itself is still stunning with a lot of room for skiers and riders, but the infrastructure (parking, lift service) creates a bottleneck that I'm now unwilling to deal with most days.

We rented mountain bikes last week and had a great experience. Xavier in Habitat was very friendly and helpful. He took his time to explain the bikes to us and made sure we were fitted properly, comfortable, and confident!

Oh the Ghee! Best hidden ski gem! I don't want to say to much good about it. I don't want it to get too crowded! No lines, no waits, so don't come! Oh wait, the chair lifts are slow and it does get cold there, so don't come!

my family purchased 5 season passes for the 2022-23 ski season. due to a family emergency we couldn't pick io the passes this year. we emailed GTR and asked for some concessions for the next season and Meredith Phelps who works on these resort emailed me back and said NO. what a total joke of a company. super disappointed. its sad when a company can't consider these individual circumstances.

This review is not really about the resort but of the area a little farther (East?) up the Hill where people go to camp and hike into the Targhee and Tetons. The "back side" of the National Park accesible from Driggs, ID is much less crowded than the areas that people flock to from Jackson and there are multiple hiking trails mostly only visited by locals well worth exploring.

This place was pretty disappointing for the price you pay & the amount of noise you deal with. I grew up in a tourist town, so I know about dealing with tourism. The views are a slice of heaven though thats a plus. The staff was cleaning a room next door to us & made no attempt to be quiet, or talk quietly about how they were being moved around due to Covid, or how poorly other staff were doing, & playing music pretty loudly while cleaning. $80 for a meal on site is a bit steep, $30 to ride the lift. I guess people will pay it.

Just had to cancel a reservation made here on Expedia due to Yellowstone closures for late June, 2020 (60 days from now). Charged me a $75 cancellation/"lodging" fee. Not good. I WILL be visiting the area next year, but WON'T be making a reservation here. Stupid policy. Enjoy your $75, I hope your revenues are significantly affected by COVID-19.

BUYERS BEWARE: this hotel has beautiful scenery on the outside, but the rooms on the inside are not as described and pictured on the website. My mom and I came to stay here and were placed in a musty room on the first floor. Everything in the room looked as if it had not been replaced since the 60s. We felt unsafe keeping our window open as we were on the first floor. When asking to upgrade (and offering to pay more) they told us nothing was available. We asked if we could get a refund when we found a different hotel to stay at and they said "no but we'd like to make this right so the next time you find yourself in the Tetons please reach out directly and we will place you on the 2nd floor". In addition, every restaurant opens at 8:30 am (too late if you're going to national parks) and closes by 6 pm (except their "fine" dining place). Do not waste your time or money here. It's a shame that such an unprofessional place takes up such beautiful landscape.

Grand Targhee Resort was the most convenient ski resort I've ever been to. The operation they are running at this ski resort is a well oiled machine. With free parking, no lift lines, and excellent food and drink with easy to find seating, Grand Targhee sets a high bar for other ski resorts. I was pleasantly surprised, as this feels like the first ski resort I have been to this season (I've been to three different ones) that actually is limiting the number of people who can come each day in order to be covid safe.

Spent two days at the resort this summer intending to use the bike park, however, operations were closed due to rain and management wouldn't accommodate an adjustment to shorten the rest of our reservation, or offer any discount, due to the resort closure. Understand weather is unpredictable but all operations and trails were shut and we were spending hundreds of dollars just to be there and do nothing. They're in the service/hospitality industry, but you would never know it based on how they treat their customers. Just beware if you plan an expensive vacations that they really don't care about customer satisfaction, or return customers. Won't go back unless there is an ownership change and/or they dramatically improve their customer service.

Grand Targhee will always have a special place in my heart since I was 2 years old learning how to ski. At that time they only had 3 chairs and all were two person chairs and nothing like what we have the luxury riding these days. The mountain is a hidden gem just located a couple miles outside the small town of Driggs, Idaho. The snow is perfect at this mountain, fluffy and soft. When compared to similar ski reports in California, Nevada, Colorado and Montana; Grand Targhee has affordable lift rates. During the high season (holidays) adult ticket prices are $95 for a full day and regular price is $90. With all the upgraded chair lifts, skiers have the ability to ski many runs and cover a ton of terrain. The crowds are minimal and if there is a crowd the lines move quick. The entire resort looks great with has many activities besides snow skiing and snowboarding, such as snow biking, tubing and cross country skiing. If you ever are looking to ski a beautiful mountain, Grand Targhee Resort is an experience you are missing out on!

I grew up skiing Targhee so I'm a little biased. However, I've skied all over the northwest and this hill is amazing. They have improved it so much over the last 20 years and given access to areas that we use to have to hike or Cat Ski to get too. If you're here in the summer they make it a great place for family or big groups. The bars and restaurants are nice. They have biking, disk golf, swimming and a ton more. When all else fails take he chairlift ride for $15 and snag a great view!

This skii resort is amazing! No lines, tons of fresh pow, and you can always find a patch of untracked snow. I was up at Targhee with a friend and his family who live in Star Valley, WY. They kept telling me how awesome this resort is. It is very much a hidden gem. I guess being two hour from the closest airport makes this resort somewhat of a locals resort, but if you are willing to risk the mountain passes then you will not be disappointed with Targhee. I was up there at the beginning of 2010. I was fortunate enough to get several amazing bluebird days with awesome views of the tetons from Teton Vista. I demoed a couple pairs of skiis including a pair of incredibly wide Völkl powder skiis and man, did they come in handy on the 17" of fresh pow!!!! The pro shop was very helpful and lets you try as many skiis as you want. The food selection is somewhat limited at the lodge, but who cares... I want to ski not eat! I highly suggest this resort to any serious skiers. Bring your powders skis and getting ready for some serious powder!

Great place! Friendly service, attentive, warm. I ate dinner and breakfast at two of the places onsite and the food was awesome and the service even better! The only issue i had was the kids playing upstairs, stomping around. But that's not the resort's fault at all. The views were awesome and they had plenty to do!

So, I'm going to make a long story as short as I can. Our daughter had her wedding here in August, the grounds were beautiful and the majority of the staff was helpful, with the exception of the Wedding Coordinator, Suzanne Rees. We should've known we would have issues from the beginning when phone calls weren't returned for a week or more. The wedding was very small, only 13 immediate family members. Not a big party by any means, but important nonetheless. The front desk was even able to check us into our rooms early (which was wonderful considering we had a lot of wedding supplies with us). My daughter was even given the keys to the Bridal Suite and Teewinot Conference room to put the decorations and her wedding dress in early. We asked the Front Desk about the Honeymoon Suite keys and availability and were told it was vacant and that Suzanne would give them to us. When we met Suzanne, we talked about when we could decorate and what was available to use, she said, " I'll be there at noon (the wedding was at 3:30), this isn't my first wedding, it will be fine." She didn't even ask what or how we wanted it decorated! Then we asked about the keys to the Honeymoon Suite so we could decorate it before hand and she said, " No, I'll give them to you at 4:00, check in time." I reminded her the wedding was at 3:30 and she says to me, " you were lucky to get in early as it is since check in isn't until 4, you will have time after when you come down from the taking pictures up the lift." Well, all that did not sit well with me, the groom's mother, and especially the Bride. We decorated ourselves, the Bride had to stop earlier than we did to get ready, but we finished shortly after noon. When Suzanne arrived, she mumbled some sort of smart a_ _ comment and then started abruptly setting up the tables and chairs. I again asked her if I could please get the key to the Honeymoon Suite so we could decorate it and put the Bride and Groom belongings in it only to be told, "No, not until 4" I informed her the room was vacant and she told me that we would have at least an hour before they were done with pictures at the top of the mountain and we could do it then! Well I didn't want to make a scene and simply said, "Fine." After the ceremony we all went up the lift for pictures, the Bride & Groom stayed up and the rest of us came down then "Rushed" from one end of the resort to the other (without carts because they don't have them) to decorate and drop off their things in the Honeymoon Suite (on the fourth floor with no elevator). Needless to say, when we finished, we needed to freshen up before we could continue with pictures which, the photographer had to wait for us to do. If we had the keys earlier prior to the wedding we could've had everything moved, decorated and been done without having to rush around in our wedding attire! In the end, (and there is a lot more I could share but would be a 2-page review) their wedding was lovely, but you basically need to plan on doing it all yourself because Suzanne is "Not" in the right business at all, she was rude, not helpful, and uncooperative!! Honestly I wouldn't even bother getting married here, it's geared more for skiing not weddings!!

I want to preface this review with I don't do these. However, I was treated so poorly by a property management company that I felt compelled to post this. My family stayed in a property managed by the Grand Targhee Property Management from March 26th - March 28th2021. At that time, I had lost my gold and platinum wedding ring somewhere on the property. We chased down the hot tub guy and he said he had just cleaned the hot tub and didn't see it. So, we drove back to Colorado very sad. I contacted by phone the resort two days later and got bounced around and finally ended up with the property management company. I spoke to a woman on the phone who informed me that they had found my ring. I was elated! She said she could charge a credit card $2.00 for postage and would the postal service be OK? I said yes thinking a 50-cent bubble envelope and $1.50 postage. They said the postal service was slow up there and it might be a week. On June 1st I received a plain white envelope with the resort's logo on it and a 51-cent stamp. The corner had been ripped out and there was nothing but a sticky note with my name and address. This was postmarked May 29th. I contacted a person named Rob Sourek (rsourek@grandtarghee.com) who was the Director of Guest Services . He was cordial and said he would look into it. At the time I explained I had three questions. Why did you charge me $2.00 for shipping if you were just going to use a 51-cent stamp? Why was this not sent somewhat quickly? 59 days? This WAS my wedding ring. And lastly, but obviously most importantly, did you really put a platinum and gold ring in a plain white envelop and put a stamp on it? Someone's wedding ring? Mr. Sourek sent me these "answers". He actually tried to blame the postal service. Sill no answer on why it wasn't even mailed (I can't believe they mailed it) for 59 days. A legitimate question. Mr. Sourek no longer answers emails. The last email I got had these two beauties. "Please rest assured that this is not the norm up here, and we value you and all patrons of our property". And "I personally would love to connect with you, should you and your family ever visit Grand Targhee again, I would like to make this right". What a joke. I see no attempt to value our patronage or make things right. These people are either colossally stupid and without any common sense, or they just don't care. One of those last two beauties isn't true. If they would have taken the time to do what's right, I would still have my ring and this review would have been glowing. I would suggest you don't do business with an organization with such a callous disregard for guests in their resort. I get no answers or responses to why I no longer have my wedding ring. Cardboard envelopes are $8.90 The charge associated with the sending of this item is also a point which I'm looking into Please allow me to again express my deepest sympathies for this loss. Myself and my team would have expected more from our US Postal Service, and it's associate honest practices. It's difficult for me assume that someone maliciously removed your wedding ring from the envelope, but the torn envelope in your photo leads me to wonder. Ride the snowcat and ask for Frank and Eric (aka Whitey) to be your guides. With Sue behind the wheel, more of a throttle as cats have no wheels, my snowboarding adventure was insane and full of pow face-shots all damn day. The price was right and the day delivered on every level... a truly satisfying experience I highly recommend. Thanks Grand Foghee!!

Epic views with the ski chair lift. Hiking or biking the views through the various trails are awesome. The staff was very helpful on insights on the local area. Rooms were clean. Great bed mattress is a plus. Food was good, people were excellent. This is what you expect from the local culture of that region. Some of the most wholesome and genuine people you will ever meet.

Love the skiing. Great mountain. Home resort. However, purchasing on their website is deplorable and calling in doesn't help much. After website failure and 17 minute hold I finally got through to reservations. Then was forced to spell and re-spell names multiple times only to get a confirmation PDF from them with the wrong spelling. Not sure if they are engraving in stone or attempting to write backwards or just don't listen. Targhee, good customer service/support is part of running a business. Stop having lifties answer phones and hire people to work behind the desk that are actually efficient at doing so.

If you do not live in a closer vicinity to Grand Targhee Resort, good luck planning your wedding from afar. Stephanie Buelow is the Ntl. Sales Manager for Targhee, whom I dealt with in the beginning and partially throughout my experience planning my wedding. She was very accommodating and helpful, even though her job with weddings only goes so far. From that point, you are directed to the Wedding Coordinator, Suzanne Rees. My understanding is that she is a seasonal employee on-site, leading to issues I had with actually getting in touch with her at times to plan. So, I am not sure how often she is actually at Grand Targhee. Mind you, I live over one thousand miles away so I solely rely on my phone and email communication. A spur-of-the-moment trip we were able to take left us with one day to actually visit our venue (never before seen), and also get our marriage license! Stephanie was able to accommodate us with a private tour showing us the grounds [what we could see because the icicles caused hazardous conditions] we did see where our outdoor ceremony and reception would be, along with the bridal suite and room similar to the "honeymoon suite" (the actual room was unavailable). After our quick turn-around trip it was back to communicating by email and phone. Suzanne had created an interactive word document for an itinerary which seemed like a useful tool. But I was left to fill everything out on my own with no confirmation on anything. I felt like it was a very hands-off way of planning. There were numerous times when she was unresponsive to emails or calls for extended periods of time. Being a bride and trying to plan a destination wedding by herself, I depended on the help of my wedding coordinator! Stephanie stepped in when she could, but some things she simply did not know because they weren't her responsibility. As we got closer to the wedding my mother stepped in to help alleviate my stress levels. She also experienced my frustration with trying to communicate with Suzanne. My mother also received an itinerary (like mine) to fill out/and or edit. Now, with certain details that we had discussed in previous emails, I had expected Suzanne to have included those details in the itinerary she sent to my mother. But no, it was empty and my mother tried to fill out everything based off what she knew or thought she knew. I ended up having to tell her to edit things that I had already communicated with Suzanne about, but never received confirmation. Fast forward to the wedding. Both mine and my fiancé's families arrive at the resort on the day before the wedding, Sunday, all from California. The resort is hosting a Bluegrass festival which we are aware of. Our mothers (being how mothers can be) called ahead and asked if there was a possibility for an early check in since we just came such a far distance and had a rehearsal in a few hours. Check-in is at 4pm (a little late if you ask me), but one of the rooms was available since it had already been cleaned and checked out of. The rest needed cleaning still, but we're empty (no worries there). The front desk had told us we could get them as soon as they were ready. Cool. After we had all checked in, my future mother-in-law and I went to taste wine for the rehearsal dinner bottles. As I was discussing table arrangements with the manager, Suzanne walks in and introduces herself (finally putting a face to the name). We meet and I tell her what is going on there and what I need done for my wedding the next day. She tells me that she can give me the key to the conference room and bridal suite for the decor we plan to use. Great! As a bride, you feel like you are in charge of everyone's happiness, even if it's your big day. I part ways with her as she goes to grab the keys, and I go to check on everyone's room situation. As I got the keys from Suzanne, our room (we chose to stay together) became ready and we had quite a bit to unpack. She felt the need to point out that check-in wasn't until 4pm and we weren't supposed to even have them yet and were lucky that they became available for us. Time was dwindling down and the rehearsal was upon us soon. I told Suzanne my mother wanted to speak with her about some wedding details but unfortunately, I could not go with her; I needed to help my fiancé unload our vehicle still. She seemed annoyed that I would not go with her, but I reassured her my mother could handle herself. After my mother met with Suzanne, she and I went to the front office to ask when the "honeymoon suite" would be available the next day so they could move the bride and groom's luggage over. My wedding was at 3:30pm and we were told the room was not available for check-in until 4pm. We had been told that nobody was in the room that night so they did not need to wait for a check out the next morning nor a cleaning. We were not asking to have the room the night before, but the morning of or at least a few hours before the wedding.

The management at Grand Targhee ski resort needs to rethink their priorities if they want to continue bringing in guests. I was here for a big mountain ski competition which was only accessible through one lift. That lift was put on wind hold after the first 30 minutes of opening and did not reopen. In an attempt to watch the competition we took 4 runs trying to get there, but were unsuccessful. It is grand Targhee policy that if you take more than 2 runs a refund will not be given. Even after hearing our cases the ticket booth worker was very rude with an upsetting tone when speaking to us. Grand Targhee is a great mountain, but the staff is far from welcoming. I will not be returning.

Came here to watch a big mountain competition. The only lift that had access to the spectator area was closed for "wind". We spent all of those runs trying to get back to the area where my friend left his boot bag. We tried to get a refund since we weren't able to watch or get his bag but we were denied because we took 4 runs trying to retrieve his bag instead of 2 runs. Love the resort and skiing but supper disappointed with managements decision to not refund us. I will not be returning to this resort.

Great hike on western slope of the Grand Tetons. Passed through both the Targhee National Forest and Jediah Smith Wilderness. Targhee resort is a comfortable and friendly place to stay before heading into the national parks.

While on our honeymoon, we drove an hour and 15 minutes away from Jackson Hole to Grand Targhee twice for ski days. We had heard it was much more low key and the people were much friendlier than at the resorts around Jackson. We couldn't have been happier with our decision to drive all the way here! My husband snowboards and I had never skied so he wanted me to get lessons. I was taught by Becca and couldn't have been more pleased! She started with the absolute basics and advanced me little by little. By the end of day one I couldn't believe how much I had processed. We went back a few days later and I even went down the kids zone twice and my husband couldn't believe I didn't fall or break my leg! I highly recommend Becca for anyone!

Some of the best and most consistent snow in the West. Located on the back side of Jackson Hole, GTR is a beautiful about a 30/45 minute scenic drive (around the mountain) from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. If your into winter sports, it snows here early and often and seemingly more then on the JHMR side. I've never been here in summer, however, I'm on their mailing list and not only does it look BEAUTIFUL but they regularly plan what look like awesome activities. I'm definitely coming back for the Bluegrass Festival. I'm not a regular skier/ boarder and hadn't been in the snow for years. I ended up taking a private 1/2 day lesson (think instructors name was Billy). Definitely a great decision! My instructor did a great job of breaking it down to core concepts, that I was comfortable with. He was very encouraging and kept it light hearted and fun. I had a great experience and got up and running with minimal newbie injuries.

For the price, room was pretty disappointing. Floors made lots of noises, walls super thin, can hear everything and everyone. One day the staff were cleaning the room next door and made zero attempt to be quiet. They had music playing while they were cleaning, we could hear every lyric in our closed room. Kinda hard to relax and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Restaurants onsite are pretty expensive. $80 for the two of us for dinner, that was a couple drinks, wings and a burger. Location and scenery really nice. But cost and quality of room wasent worth it.

Some people ski for glitz and glamour while others ski for what it's all about: powder! Go to Jackson for the fur coats and night life - Targhee is all about the snow, combined with friendly people and amazing scenery, Grand Targhee has yet to sell it's soul to the corporate mentality which is plaguing the ski industry. While it may lack in size in terms of skiable acres, it more then makes up for with quality of snow and the laid back friendly atmosphere it promotes. Do your sell a favor and make a trip to the "real" side of the Tetons.

This place gets 450 in of snow a year. And by 450 in, it actually means 550 in. And it gets crowded during a pow day. And by crowded, I mean 50 people at first chair. The Jackson blowhards will call it "low angle pow." And that actually translates to, "I've never been there." Six inches at Jackson transmogrifies into one foot at Targhee. Make sure you bring a pow board to make sure you get your face shots. In response to Star S' criticism, I've been to NZ, every resort between Vancouver and Calgary, every spot in Tahoe, Big Bear, every resort off I 70 in CO, every resort in VT, Jackson and many that I am forgetting, and heli a few times. Targhee holds it's own against the big boys. If you are going to a ski resort for the food, drink your merlot in your UGGs whilst paying $100 at Vail to ride the bunny slopes. Targhee, for what it is, a secluded family run resort, it's the best one I've been to hands down.
