I'm currently in my fourth year at Grand Valley. It is a liberal arts college, and a lot of the requirements to graduate are different from other universities. For example, all students not enrolled in the Honors College must take a theme. This is a category in which you must take three classes. These are not always relevant to life (my theme is Creativity, for which I took Creative Writing, Storytelling, and Creativity. Yes, there is an actual class called Creativity. I shit you not).
That being said, the campus is gorgeous. The first time I came for a visit I was reminded of Disney World. Cheesy, I know. The professors I've had (I recommend using ratemyprofessor.com) have been amazing. The class sizes are small, and they offered me more financial aid than any other University.
The university is improving every year. Despite its location in the Bible Belt, I have enjoyed my years here immensely. It is not for everyone, but definitely worth checking out.
