"Zurich's Best Coffee Plus a River View This trendy apero spot with outdoor tables overlooking the Limmat River also doubles as a serious coffeehouse (inside, the gleaming La Marzocco provides a hint). Friendly baristas in bowties and newsboy caps pull what many consider to be Zurich’s best espresso from seasonally changing single origin beans. On a recent visit, a Sumatran variety yielded a rich, full-bodied brew with a fine layer of golden crema. A charmingly scuffed wooden bar, schoolhouse chairs, flowers in green beer bottles, and distressed walls add to the appeal."

Nice little coffee shop in Old Town Zürich. Staff was super-friendly, and service was quick! We kept it simple, lattes and a piece of apple cake. Both good. Coffee was a good temp, but not super hot as we prefer. We decided to linger a bit and enjoy the morning, so we followed up with iced coffees. Also good! Recommend Grande for a nice morning coffee in Old Town!

Nice cafe, lots of seating. It’s a table service cafe so expect higher prices. Coffee is more fruity side. The flat white was strong.

The perfect little spot for a cappuccino and a pastry. We came here every morning on our trip and loved it!

Google
Coffee was ok but the service was better. Friendly staff. Early 2000s hip hop/r&b was playing at the time which was a refreshing surprise for me from most coffee places.

Google
Grande it’s a cool cafe to have a drink or more in our case by the road next to the river, with many tables indoors and outdoors. The staff is fast and polite. Recommend it! Chill vibe.

Google
nice place. good service. tried some domestic soft drink named ko-lah which is an soft drink like a lemonade and it was nice refreshing.

Google
Coffee was merely ok. Mocha was perhaps the worst I've had. Croissants were not fresh, and the chocolate one barely had any chocolate. If you're going for a quick coffee/snack you'd be better served somewhere else

Great for People watching and Coffee is good. Quick Service and the Bar will make you great Drinks if you know what you want. A urban young and eclectic Crowed hangs here specifically when the Sun is out.

Yelp
We stopped by Grande multiple times during a recent trip to Zurich because the coffee is fantastic, the mid-century modern vibes are lovely, and the staff is surprisingly friendly even when it's super busy. Skip the Starbucks, and spend your money at Grande. Just watch out, because, at peak hours, you'll be shocked by how many people can cram inside. Seriously... it gets super busy.

Yelp
Cute little place amidst all the touristy stuff. I like the decorations inside and the setup outside is nice for the tourists keen on watching the river. My only wish was the latte could have been warmer. But I really didn't have the heart to tell them so.... Will be back, hopefully!

Yelp
A physically small drinks place, quite a gem as it's steps away from Central tram station: a popular meeting point with the Capitol cinema nearby. If one has to be in the Central area as a meeting point, why do people go to Starbucks at Central as a first choice?! One should re-prioritize and come check this place out to see if there is space instead! A coffee/casual drinkettes place, one comes here for 1. Great cappuccino. Option of oat milk - real plus. They also make their own version of lemonade ("Milonade"), really nice. 2. Excellent people watching esp sitting outside, where the seating faces the direction of the water and traffic coming by. 3. Good for meeting one other person and having a chit chat. Not for groups. 4. Smokers will love outside seating w ashtrays. Sensitive non smokers will hate it but you always take the risk here sitting outside in Zurich anyway. 5. A place where people want to see, and to be seen. So bring your gorgeous self down here to see other fab people. If you look/smell like you haven't taken care of yourself in days, you might just stick out like a sore thumb here and get a massive stare down. Just warning you. Drinkettes are ok for what you come here for, it's a trendy drinks bar for trendy people to people watch... Don't expect the best whiskey selection in the world or the best roasted coffee beans you've ever had in your life (but it's pretty damn close)! It's the trio family of Bovelli-Le Raymond-Grande, but out of the siblinghood, I like Grande the most. It's got that Niederdorf old town cozy cool charm, accentuated with interesting people watching. Small caveat on trendy people: I did see once a douchey headhunter who was phone interviewing a candidate sitting outside next to me, speaking loudly and asking probing questions to the candidate on the phone like "how old are you, do you plan to have kids in the next few years, if you do that makes you not an attractive candidate"... So as ever in life there is always the possibility to discover all walks of life anywhere you go...

Yelp
Great spot for people (and swan) watching. I had delicious peppermint tea and enjoyed a lovely pre-dinner respite amoung a lively crowd of college students and young professionals. It felt very "local" in the middle of the touristy Dörfli. The outside staff was very attentive. Although a little difficult to grab a table at certain hours, it is worth the jostling for a front-row seat to the street scene.

Yelp
Having read some other reviews complimenting on their great Cappuccino, I decided to enjoy today's beautiful Sunday evening sunset here. They recently changed their name to simply "Grande", and extended the outside seating area to three rows with each 4 small tables. All of them were occupied, but I managed to get one where people just left. And wow, sunshine really hits you here when the sun is low (and passes below the sunshade), which is nice but also a little hot... As others already said, it's facing the Limmat river, which would be nice if it wasn't for the road between the cafe and the river. The waiter came, and even I as a man must admit him being very beautiful and could be a model, with perfect outfit and a bow tie, but still casual enough to fit this place which is mostly occupied by students. I instantly understood why there were so many girls here... I ordered their famous Cappuccino and a piece of their daily cake. Looking around I noticed a small hand-drawn poster inside explaining the differences between Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino etc, very nice, and making me curious. The Cappuccino came with a glass of water, and brown suger, which I appreciate. And I have to say that even while my Cappuccino wasn't an artwork with paintings in the milk others wrote about, it was perfect. The milk foam was dense, and when you scoop it aside using a spoon you couldn't see a liquid surface, but denser milkfoam mixed with espresso. This is a sign of a very good barista making good milk foam and pouring it right, and serving it only seconds after. So far maybe the best Cappuccino I've had in Zürich. And certainly the friendliest (and nicest) service. The cake, which came on a small plate my grandmother would have had in her cupboard (nice color), was ok, just a plain cake. Nothing special, but since this is a bar, I don't expect anything fancy. They offer wireless internet for free (didn't work on my phone, but probably not their fault). The inside is also nice. And when you need to go to the restroom, that's also kind of interesting, with style. Summary: Nice place, great Cappuccino.

Yelp
Visiting Zurich (yay!) but with heaps of work to do (ack!), I needed a go to spot outside my hotel with strong internet and stronger coffee. Once I found Grande, I kept coming back for more. Delicious Cappuccinos, friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating that was cosy without being cramped. Perfect spot - highly recommended!

Yelp
Jackpot! We were staying in an AirBnB 3 doors down (literally) and stumbled upon Grande. We came here for 2 days in a row - and every staff we spoke to speaks English so it made things a bit easier than elsewhere. I ordered an iced coffee with milk (latte) and they mixed the drink with a shaker! As an American I am so surprised! :) Loved everything about Grande and will make this my go-to cafe. Why go to Starbucks or any big chains like that? Sit outside, enjoy a cup or two of coffee with a cheaper than big-chains price tag!

Yelp
Who would have thought i'd find a little piece of Brooklyn in Zurich? Friendly staff, awesome coffee and drinks. Perfect spot for people watching and chilling. Not to mention that the people and staff there are always pretty cute :)

Yelp
My type of coffee spot! Beautiful small space right on Limmatquai, a ten minutes walk away from Zurich main station. You get to choose between dark and light roasted beans. I like their Americano, as well as the cappuccino with soy milk (they use an organic one & only charge chf 0.50 extra). Plenty of magazines and newspaper to read and good music. Great spot for cocktails too!

Yelp
Nice place to have some good coffee in a laid back atmosphere. Nice breads (fruit bread is delicious) and selection of a few cakes. Good service and perfect location if you are looking to be around Old Town.

Yelp
Nice knowledgable staff. A hip place with exceptional choice of nonalcoholic drinks. Of course they'll serve you the boozy stuff to your entire satisfaction, too. The outside seating is perfect for people watching. Inside it can get crowded easily, so boys: grab your tiniest handbag. Girls: leave the bowling stuff at home.

Yelp
Everthing makes you want to push the door of Grande. The bar, the tiles on the floor, the beautiful people, the well-dressed bow-tie wearing staff. The espresso macchiato is to die for and comes accompanied by a glass of citrusy water. The staff knows how to make a perfect café, eager to share their knowledge withouht bragging about it. Mostly hip 20-30-y-o Zurich inhabitants, many creatives, many students. It's hard to find a table weekends. I want to taste their gin cocktails, which must be pretty tasty and original given the fact that Grande belongs to the same owner of Dante, a bar specialized in gin cocktails and tonics. Top of my go-to-coffee-places in Zurich.

Yelp
Oh my... Little did I know that Zurich had some great mixologists, the like of which I've only seen in london so far... Only the rudimentary deco and furniture (perhaps intentional) lets this place down a bit...

Yelp
One of my favourite cafés in Zurich. The interior is a great mix of old and (minimalist) new, understated and classy - you know, what hipsters like but Grande pulls it off without being too pretentious. Love the big bay windows going out to the Limmatquai. Nice patio in the summer. Perfect for meeting up with a friend for coffee, maybe for working by yourself (if you're lucky and get a table), it's pretty small, so one needs to be prepared to sit at the bar or share a table. The coffee is good (dark or light roast), can't remember the roaster but somewhere local, I think. The owners have a string of other bars/cafés in Zurich, it appears. I'm rounding up to 5 stars because the atmosphere is perfect for me but some of the baristas could up their game a bit. Loved one of the lady baristas, very attentive and knowledgable, all smiles and just made you feel welcome, but one of her colleagues was just the opposite, barely managed to get a word out, let alone a smile, order took awhile, cake didn't arrive with coffee.

Yelp
It's facing the Zurich lake and if it's sunny always a good reason just to enjoy the sun while puffing your cigarettes (as Zurich is a city that forbid indoor smoking). FREE wi-fi. And that's a good reason to be here.

Yelp
Good espresso- very friendly service at the bar. Place was packed as it was the first sunny day after a freezing cold period.

Yelp
My favourite spot in Zurich to get a cappuccino! Great baristas, cozy and laid back atmosphere with a location right by the Limmat. Best place for people watching during summer, absolutely love it.

Yelp
Great coffee, great location, casual atmosphere with laid back staff. Can't imagine a better place to enjoy getting some work done. I've been here a couple times for extended period and there is no pressure from the staff to constantly purchase more drinks.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday morning around 10 am, just beating the crowd of people. I got a cappuccino and croissant while my boyfriend got an americano and croissant. The croissants were delicious, and the drinks great. Overall a cute little place to stop by if you're in the area. They also what appears to be a pretty stocked bar.
