The location of this hotel is great; it is both fairly quiet and near the beach. There are quite a few restaurant options along the beach street. We were able to walk to three different forts that had art/historical displays (and we are senior citizens). It was built a few decades ago so it is slightly shabby but I was expecting that based on other reviews. There are a lot of people at breakfast so you might want to go early or late. We sometimes had to wait for coffee since it ran out when things were busy. There was a very wide variety of things on the buffet; we didn't even get to try everything and we were there for five days. Everything in the room worked well. We had a had a room with a view of the bay/beach but it was so hot and humid that we really didn't spend much time on the balcony. It was fun to look out and see Brazilian beach culture. The beach drops off quickly so people sort of crowd into the narrow area where they can stand on the sand. The pool was quite large. The clientele seemed to all be Brazilian, which is probably a good sign.

Room - It was ok, a little old but it was clean and for me it was big. Location - Amazing place, very close to the beach with a nice view. Service - Front desk service was horrible, they did not help my currency exchange and gave me a poor advice to buy a chip for my sell phone. Fortunately, a staff that open the door heard the front desk advice and he assisted me to buy a chip to my cellphone. He was really kind and helpful, he saw that front desk was not giving a good advice for me and he gave me better advices.

I stayed at Grande Hotel da Barra for 11 nights while in Salvador for work. The hotel is in a great location, and the staff truly made my stay memorable. Special thanks to Alberto at the front desk, Milena in sales and reservations, Jeferson the waiter, and the wonderful housekeeping team who cleaned and organized my room every day. The breakfast was a highlight. It included a wide variety of breads, savory and sweet pies, fresh fruit, several juice options, freshly brewed coffee, and made-to-order tapiocas or eggs. One of the best parts of my routine was waking up, crossing the street to the beach, then rinsing off at the poolside shower before enjoying breakfast. The hotel also has a pool, and while I visited during the low season — which is definitely quieter than summer — I still found the place relaxing and enjoyable. A couple of areas for improvement would be the elevator system and the sound insulation. Noise does travel easily through the walls and doors. Even so, I’m already planning to return for at least two more upcoming trips. Highly recommend it for a comfortable and welcoming stay in Salvador.

This hotel is horrible!!!! It’s dirty, super super old, the breakfast food is disgusting, the staff is rude. I think the pictures were taken like 50 yrs ago or probably done with AI.

Hotel does give horror movie vibes with its long dark hallways — see other reviews. What was most annoying about our stay was when our toilet clogged at night and the front desk offered no help, so we did not have a bathroom for a bit. We eventually went down and asked for a plunger so we could take care of it ourselves. Which we did, and no apologies or extra help from the front desk. It is a bit ridiculous to not help guests who need their bathroom when you could at the minimum just provide a plunger. Breakfast food was not appealing but pool was nice. Area is a bit dangerous for tourists — just be aware. Was nice walking up and down the beach. Overall, not sure how this hotel is rated 4 stars.

Great service, staff was really friendly and helpful. Hotel is right across the beach, and you can find great restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. Location is definitely good! The pool area is great, very spacious. As to the breakfast we were pleased with all the options. Only thing we noticed that could be better is how in our shower the water didn’t go down right away (making a puddle). Which wasn’t a major thing, but just a side note.

The hotel Staff were A+ - very helpful, very informative, very pleasant and professional. The hotel itself was really nice, breakfast was delicious, lots of options, gym was basic but sufficient, pool area was very well maintained. Room 132 was really nice and spacious, shower etc worked fantastically. ||One thing i would suggest is the payment system specifically for international payments. I would strongly suggest have resilience, a Plan B (and a Plan C) of a completely separate payment systems/card readers for when international cards like Mastercard credit cards fail, a card that worked everywhere else, restaurants, shops, etc. Luckily for us we could revert to our own Plan B with the help of family in Brazil via PIX payment, a luxury most international visitors will not have.||One of the staff was super helpful in providing information regarding attending a local Bahia football match which was not something we planned to do as we are not die hard football fans but the idea seemed quite exciting to experience the atmosphere etc and it was so worth it.||Beach right across the street, perfect location.||Again reception and door staff were absolutely fantastic.||Would we stay here again ? Absolutely, no hesitation.

Our room was dirty (sands and trash on floor from previous), bathroom was is a very bad condition. One window was remained open without possibility to close it. Ac unit: running to make noise, not to cool the room. Personal was not so accessible. It is a 1 or 2 star hotel only.
