The best thing in this hotel are the people who works there. The attendance is really nice and helpful. The location is also very good, it allows you to go walking in the best places of the city. As a project of the famous architect Niemayer, the Hotel has the atmosphere of the 60ths, but a little careless. The restaurant is a good surprise. The ambiance is not the best but the dishes are really nice and well served, also people with the outstanding attendance in here.

We decided to stay in the Grande Hotel de Ouro Preto because it was one of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer's first projects. We enjoyed our stay very much, though it was like going back to the 1940's when it was built, even though it had been renovated in 1993.||The location of the hotel was excellent for exploring Ouro Preto, and there were quite a few restaurants nearby.||Our room was on 2 levels. The entry level had a living area and a large balcony with a beautiful view of the town. From the lower level, a curved wooden staircase went to the second floor where the bedroom and bathroom were. The bedroom has a beautiful view of the gardens and hillside behind the hotel. We definitely recommend getting a room like this, rather than the smaller rooms which only face the back of the hotel. The furnishings are by no means luxurious or fancy, but are basic and comfortable.||The public area is quite barren, though it does have several interesting old pieces of furniture that fit in well with the 1940's ambiance.||We liked the included breakfast very much. Some other reviewers had criticized the breakfast, but we found that there was enough variety to keep us happy for the three days we were there.||All the room entrances are one level up from the reception area and there is no elevator. However, nowhere in Ouro Preto is suitable for people with mobility issues. So if someone can't manage going up one floor without an elevator, they wouldn't be able to manage Ouro Preto.||We liked Ouro Preto very much, and if we ever return, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Historical hotel, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and albeit it seems like in alien amid all the medieval buildings it has lots of charm. Don't expect perfection though, but at least my two floor room with balcony was well kept. Haven't tried the restaurant (except for breakfast), the pool is nice for a quick dip. Staff was OK if not overly friendly. Perfect place to sit on your balcony and to enjoy the views (and yes, this is one of the few places where the minibar is not a complete rip off). If you can live with the little imperfection here and there, this is your place.

It's very central hotel that gives you access to many local shops, restaurants, cafes, banks and some of the many historic churches this beautiful city has to offer. The friendly and helpful staff makes you feel very welcomed. The rooms are basic, but comfortable and clean. It offers a very good breakfast with a variety of local cheese, bread and cakes. It also has a nice restaurant with many different dishes. The only down thing is that there isn't any air conditioning in the rooms, only a standard type of fan.

The hotel is very beautiful, designed by the great Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. It’s located in the historic center, near many of the city’s attractions. The hotel has its own parking lot. The swimming pool is of a medium size. We stayed in the JK suite, which is big enough to accommodate a small family. On the first floor we have a dining room, a living room and the balcony, from which we can see the pool and part of the historic centre. On the second floor there are two bedrooms and the bathroom. The two rooms are comfortable and clean, but the bathroom is small and a little bit dark. The hotel restaurant is very good, offering fine foods and drinks. The room service is great and the staff is always polite and gentle. We had a pleasant stay there.

A hotel outside the timeline. Designed by an icon of Brazilian Architecture (Oscar Niemeyer) in one of the most expressive moments of our country. Its location could not be better because walking we can visit practically all points of historical and cultural interest in the Center of Ouro Preto. We love the treatment we received, the hotel has a very friendly and hospitable staff typical of the culture of Minas Gerais. Spacious, well lit and airy with a breathtaking pool for the hottest days, our little one loved it. Congratulations to the entire team, especially the restaurant staff, who surprised us with very well served dinners and a delicious breakfast, full of fruits, cakes, local cookies and pancakes. We will certainly be back at a later opportunity. Agostinho Family||Riotaxiandtransfer

This is a historic hotel, well-located near the town center. Unlike other historic hotels which have a special charm, the Grande Hotel Ouro Preto doesn’t. It’s not well maintained, rooms and bathrooms are old and not that comfortable. There is no AC. Common areas are ugly, including the pool. Breakfast was far from good compared to other hotels in similar towns. Staff were professional but not friendly.

Nice retro hotel. The "suite" rooms are very nice: little terrace with a very nice view of Ouro Preto, downstairs a little area where you can sit and upstairs a nice room with bathroom. Big bed :-) The staff is very nice and even if they only speak Portugese, they make an effort to explain stuff. Breakfast is more than ok with fresh fruit and pastries and even warm dishes. Very well located + free parking
