Pretty much my favourite place ever. Amazing atmosphere, perfect for relaxing. Great bar snacks and drinks and the owner changes the record for each song. I come back to this place every time I’m in Tokyo

I believe this vinyl record music bar first opened in 1971. It is a basement bar and you can easily walk past the entrance, as I did. The place has a great timeless atmosphere about it. Simple menu for drinks but they serve some interesting dishes as well. The music and sound via a JBL system was top notch. Great variety of tunes while I was there. Note smoking 🚬 is allowed here. My manhattan was so good, I had a second one!

Wonderful place, very good cocktails, super friendly wait staff and amazing music, each track picked one by one by the owner working behind the bar. Prices are very reasonable too. Can’t recommend enough!

My friends and I were in Shibuya and wanted to go to a vinyl bar. Went to Google Maps and found this recommendation, which had great reviews so we decided to randomly check it out and fortunately had a table perfect for us open. Food and drinks: Barely any food, mostly basic bar chow and wasn't anything great but did the job. Cocktails were pretty good but wouldn't say it's the main reason for visiting. Got a cocktail and couple of beers. Vibe: If there's any reason to visit, it's this. Small, vibey speakeasy with GREAT quality music. Huge collection of vinyls and they took requests. Artists they played during our stay: Hall & Oats, Rita Coolidge, John Mayer, Doobie Brothers (my personal request), and more. Was hoping they'd play more old Japanese music to discover some new stuff but most requests were English - still great tho Cons: If you're not a smoker, be mindful that this is a smoking bar. Didn't bother me tho - added to the vibe lol. Note that you're also not allowed to take photos of the other patrons (which was hard because I couldn't take pictures of the place without other guests in it somehow) but managed to get a couple shots without getting their faces. Would highly recommend to anyone passing by Shibuya. My friends and I had to leave because we had a schedule somewhere else but would've stayed much longer if we could!

One of my favorite places in Tokyo! Friendly and cute staff, cozy vibe—I feel comfortable even as a solo tourist. I wouldn’t say it’s a place for upscale cocktails, but it’s definitely THE place for great music.

Nice whiskey bar. Here they play records of rock, pop rock of 80’s and 90’s. Good selection. Sound comes from Jbl 4311, iconic sound. Dj set up is willing to keep track at any cost! Atmosphere is nice. You can drink at very good price and smoke as much as you like. Well if you are not a smoker you will smoke anyway! Dj is the star here, nice and kind. And artist attitude off course! Closed on Monday!

Brilliant dive-style music bar that plays consistently great 70s and 80s records, run by a charming older couple. The husband queues up each track from an impressive record collection. Beer is cold and the vibes are immaculate.

Didn't actually order food but the drinks are fairly prices and served quickly. The atmosphere is just awesome and comfortable. Just be aware that this is a bar with a decent number of smokers. I don't enjoy cigarette smoke myself, so it is a testament to the atmosphere and the tunes that it didn't bother me.

Yelp
Fabulous hole in the wall can't find bar! Small but cheap drinks with a dark, old world bar playing very cool 1970's music on vinyl! Only downside for non smokers is the smoking. Definitely worth a try!!

Yelp
not kidding this is my favorite bar I've ever been to in my life. super special spot. very quaint, cozy bar. The owner plays great music - hand selecting the albums by vinyl. also one of the only places I was able to get something besides whiskey. great dirty martinis & great pricing! can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
We found this place on our last night in Tokyo: A dimly lit, smokey bar that sounds 60s and 70s jams. It's a bit hard to find - we walked a few times up and down the block on the wrong side before crossing the bridge to the correct side. The sign is small and if you're not watching out, you might miss it. It is in the basement, by a barber shop. Once I opened the door, I was immediately impressed. They have a limited food menu, with bar snacks between y500-600. Beer is also about y500-600 - mostly bottles. They have Guinness on draft, and I think one other thing on draft. Many liquor options. We opted for Yebisu (y600 bottle), and a cheese plate (y600 probably not worth it). The music fit the space perfectly. It is small, like many places in Tokyo, although not as bad as some. 4 tables and stools at the bar. Service was excellent. People do smoke, and it is a small room, so if you are sensitive to that, this is not your place. If I lived here, this would be my go to spot. Really nice ambience without being awkward or pretentious.

Yelp
Grandfather's is a really cool place. Yes, it's smoky - I wouldn't spend every evening here, but an hour or two is definitely worth it. Grandfather played music, literally one song at a time, from his ridiculous vinyl collection. He has incredibly good taste. He also took our request for Living for the City by Stevie Wonder. Cheapish (500 yen) beers and an amazing atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I really don't want to review this bar, because I don't want you to find this place! Lol! They play, 60s, 70s American music. Mainly funk and soul, and they do take requests. Drinks are strong, music is A+, vibe is excellent!!!! Mainly locals with a very light peppering of travelers. Please don't spread the word ;)

Yelp
Best dive bar in Shibuya! A wall of records and rotation of whatever you want to hear. Make some requests or simply sit and enjoy a cocktail and hear what is playing. Great service and simple style.
