Granger Hotel Gaslamp Quarter (San Diego / La Jolla Area, California) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s hard to believe that bears, tigers, and monkeys once lived in the Granger Building, an elegant Romanesque-style landmark in the Gaslamp Quarter. This five-story building was originally a bank, and its basement served as a temporary residence for animals before the 1916 opening of the San Diego Zoo; more than a century later, the building was reborn as the design-forward Granger Hotel." - Tablet Hotels

Granger Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"A recently opened four-star member of Design Hotels set in a 1904 Romanesque landmark in the Gaslamp Quarter, this guest-only retreat was reborn after a $30 million renovation that preserves historic character while layering whimsical, contemporary design. Housed in a former bank where the founder of the San Diego Zoo once briefly kept animals, the property keeps public crowds out—there’s no public restaurant or co‑working area—so key holders enjoy an intimate, curated experience. Interiors mix vintage finds and playful details: a light installation made from the original elevator cage, a 1920s Art Deco mirror, a late-1980s Philip North painting, tin ceilings, a rose-colored marble rounded reception desk, plaster walls with murals, mosaic flooring, midcentury standing lamps, and small surprises like a stone elephant. A curtained drinking den nods to the neighborhood’s seedier past but is executed with tasteful, seductive touches (nude silhouettes, leopard-print carpet, rose-velvet chairs). The hotel partners with a local artist whose ground-floor studio guests can visit, and rooms continue the blend of old and new with 120-year-old doors, custom curved armoires, peacock lamps, fan-shaped headboards, leopard door handles, heavy drapes, and other thoughtful details. Practical offerings are modest but well done—a home-cooked breakfast buffet and a reception-desk-turned-bar—plus amenities such as a complimentary welcome cocktail, guest-only bar, snack pantries, garage parking, an artist studio, and access to a nearby hotel fitness center; playful animal accents and stocked pantry cabinets (jelly beans, mixed nuts) add charm."

Was originally drawn to this hotel because of the aesthetics, the lobby and rooms are definitely IG worthy. But after staying here, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone debating on booking. Initially I was drawn to the aesthetics but the service was definitely 5/5 stars! All of the hotel staff were super friendly! Mark - the head of guest experience at Granger was immensely helpful as well! I asked how much the cost would be for a later checkout since I’d be on a meeting during checkout time, but Mark kindly offered complimentary late checkout which I really appreciated. The rooms were super clean and the beds comfy were super comfy. We appreciated the snack closet that also had an ice and water machine which was super useful! We also really appreciated the security that was always at the front door entrance of the hotel - this made us feel super safe considering Gaslamp can have some sus people hanging around. They also offer a great complimentary breakfast. Probably the best complimentary breakfast I’ve had at a hotel. Had lots of variety and fresh/local offerings. Overall, I feel like the hotel was definitely worth the price - with the customer service, cleanliness and aesthetics. Would definitely stay here again!

I only stayed at Ganger Hotel for one night, but it genuinely surprised me. The staff were incredible, friendly, helpful, and on top of everything without being over the top. The location is great, the room was clean and comfortable, and you can tell they pay attention to the small details that most places overlook. Breakfast was solid, fresh, and actually enjoyable, not the usual included breakfast disappointment. The facilities were impressive for a short stay. Everything worked the way it should, and the place just had a good vibe overall. Wish I had stayed longer. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

Absolutely spectacular stay! The Granger Hotel by Marriott in San Diego is a true gem — bohemian décor, great style, and a beautifully restored historic building that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another century. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh berries and gourmet pastries that tasted homemade. The front desk service was outstanding, and having Spanish-speaking staff made everything even more welcoming. Highly recommend! 🌿✨

This hotel is amazing, the staff are exceptional and a huge reason I came back. Everyone is so friendly!||Huge callout to Gerardo. He was extremely attentive, ensured we checked in smoothly, emptied our car and went above and beyond. Staff like this are why we choose to stay here again and how great everyone. ||The location is great, everything is clean, they had my girlfriend’s favorite brand of toiletries (le labo) and we’ve never had issues throughout our multiple stays here. ||PLUS the breakfast is great and drinks are strong.

Google
Excellent, quirky, friendly hotel. This hotel has some real quirky and captivating decor. All the staff have been welcoming and personable. The complimentary breakfast is superb, the free cocktail was a great touch and the bed was super comfy. The room was perfect for our short break in the city. Overall 5 stars. The only thing to note is that the bedroom walls are paper thin. If you have a neighbour who decides to put the TV on loudly at 2am (like we did), you’ll know about it. You may want ear plugs. The communal coffee and sweet hut in the corridor was a nice addition too.

I’ll never stay anywhere else than Granger when I travel to San Diego if I can help it. The hotel itself is gorgeously designed, and feels like a boutique European hotel. An oasis in the middle of San Diego’s center. But the real gem of this experience was the people that work here. As a solo female traveler, it means so much to feel safe and welcome. Specifically, Daryus and Rosie were so kind, welcoming, and absolutely made my night. Thank you both, and to the hotel for creating such a beautiful and welcoming haven in SD.

Google
What a Great place to stay! Clean relaxing rooms and staff that offers service above and beyond expectations ! Both Nick and Grace were always so helpful. With the many request I had they always were accommodating! Hard to find staff with true customer service these days! Great history and not a far walk from Convention center and many restaurants! Also don’t want to forget the complimentary breakfast each morning was a nice added perk!!! Hot and fresh and great staff!

From the moment I arrived, I was met with unwelcoming energy. A staff member standing outside immediately questioned me about what I was doing there, then demanded to know if I was a guest. When I told him I had a reservation, he started searching for my name on a tablet without any greeting or courtesy. It felt like I was being profiled or treated as if I didn’t belong. Red flag number one. I arrived early and understood check-in wasn’t guaranteed before 4 PM, no issue there. I simply asked the front desk for a recommendation for a local coffee shop while I waited, and the receptionist dismissively told me, “There’s a bunch around here. There’s a Starbucks.” No warmth, no hospitality. I came back at 4:30 PM... past check-in time, and my room still wasn’t ready. Eventually, I got checked in, but I was told the deposit was $30, only to see $50 withdrawn from my bank later. It's not a huge deal, but it’s another example of poor communication and lack of professionalism. When I finally got to my room, the key didn’t work. Luckily, a housekeeper nearby was kind enough to let me in. Inside, I noticed stains on the mattress, and, more concerning, the safety latch on the door was missing. it looked like it had been forcefully removed at some point. That made me feel uneasy. Later that evening, I had to go back down to the front desk to get my key reprogrammed. It's just a series of small but impactful issues that built up into an overall bad stay. The hotel is supposedly newly renovated, but it didn’t meet the expectations set online. The only positive is the location, it is close to downtown and walkable to some good spots. But that’s not enough to make up for the lack of hospitality, communication, or care. I’ve stayed at better and worse, but for the price, there are much better options in San Diego. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Yelp
Loved this place! The room was super clean and comfortable, and the staff made me feel really welcome. You can walk everywhere -- bars, food, hookah, club scene, everything's right there. Perfect spot for a fun weekend in downtown SD. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Staff was very friendly, instantly greeted upon arrival. Check-in was fast, and the room was very clean. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip out.

Yelp
Design & Rooms Under the creative eye of Erika Baker and the Mansour brothers, the lobby is a visual feast: arched windows, tin ceilings, rose‑colored marble, and ceilings painted with abstract elephants and lions blend history and playfulness. Each guest room continues the theme of curated elegance--with peacock‑fan headboards, leopard-print accents, vintage rugs, and luxe marble‑lined bathrooms stocked with LeLabo amenities. The balance of light navy and espresso tones creates a serene, drama‑tinged sanctuary. Service That Sings What truly elevates the Granger experience is the impeccable service--especially thanks to Kenya and Daryus. From the moment I checked in, Kenya's warm professionalism made me feel both welcome and pampered. Her attentiveness ensured each request was handled with a smile and authenticity that felt rare. Not to mention Kenya's exquisite dining recommendations, which never ceased to amaze. Each suggestion felt thoughtfully curated, leading me to some of the most memorable meals I've had in San Diego--from hidden local gems to elevated culinary experiences that perfectly captured the city's flavor and charm. Her knowledge of the local food scene added a whole new dimension to the stay. Then came Daryus--his old‑fashioned cocktail is, without hyperbole, one of the best I've enjoyed in the past five years. Crafted with an exquisite hand, it was balanced, nuanced, and absolutely memorable. In a scene crowded with trendy mixology, Daryus's mastery of the classic old-fashioned cut through the noise--demonstrating both technical skill and genuine care. Food & Drink While the Granger foregoes a full public restaurant, breakfast at 5th&Lox offers a comforting American spread--artisanal pastries, fruit, a café vibe complemented by lobby ambiance. Come evening, The Parlor Room's dimly-lit lounge becomes a playground of cocktails, and sultry design--highlighting Daryus's exceptional drinks. Atmosphere & Privacy True to its founders' vision, this is a "guest‑only" retreat: no external walk‑ins, no public crowds--just a private, intimate haven for those in the know . From the moment you pass through the grand arched door, the spirited energy of San Diego softens into something more considered and soulful. Final Verdict The Granger is a triumph of design, ambiance, and heartfelt hospitality. Its nods to San Diego's past--banks, bears, even zoo eccentricities--merge seamlessly with its modern comforts and artful flourishes. But the true standout? The human touch. Kenya's genuine care and Daryus's old-fashioned cocktail have set a new bar in my hotel experiences. If you're seeking a stay that feels inspired, personal, and undeniably memorable, the Granger delivers--wholeheartedly.

Yelp
Granger Hotel is located right smack in the middle of The Gaslamp District in San Diego. Upon walking in you're immediately transported back to 1920's, the hotel decor is mid century vintage. There is no hotel parking, however there is a public parking structure a block up. This is the first time that I check into a hotel where the staff is light, friendly and very engaging. Everyone was extremely nice, which set the mood for the rest of the evening. The quirk of this hotel is there Coffee and Snack Station. They offer Nespresso Coffee (love), Water & Ice, and assorted jelly beans, nuts, candy, etc. I appreciate when a hotel is thoughtful about their patrons. When I walked into my room, I thought I walked into a child room. The beds were extremely small. I'm 6'5, the beds were a little wider than a twin but not long enough for someone taller than 5 feet. I had to sleep in fetal position the whole night to avoid my legs from hanging off. Luckily the beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft. If I come back, I'll ask for a King Bed, hopefully it'll be long enough for me legs. I didn't get to experience the hotel bar or lobby, but next time I'm in San Diego, Granger Hotel will be an option.

Yelp
When I say it is a VERY artsy/extravagant place with decor and a particular smell (not quite candles or those stick things)...it's a lot but not overwhelming. Booked a "day room" through Resort Pass, although it was late we were given the option to extend our time by 3 hours (paid for the difference, but when you're hungover and want to lay down...) Friendly staff. Rooms were photo magazine ready. They have a cupboard by the elevator and if you just HAPPEN to look...they have candy dispensers ;) Thanks for the quick and restful stay!

Yelp
Comfortable stay and appreciate the included breakfast. As with most "downtown" areas, the area seemed to have a homeless problem. Hotel itself was nice and clean and I love the history of the building itself.

Yelp
Granger things have never happened! My partner booked The Granger Hotel for our San Diego trip, and it ended up being the best decision ever! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted--and to our surprise, we were upgraded to a loft! While the loft was still on the cozier side (as expected with boutique hotels), it was beautifully designed and felt so thoughtfully put together. The attention to detail here is next-level. Everything from the curated decor to the in-room Bluetooth speaker and top-tier amenities made our stay feel elevated. We also loved the free breakfast buffet each morning--love! Make sure you go before 10 am as they clean up right away. One of my favorite touches? Each floor has a little cabinet stocked with complimentary snacks, coffee, tea, and water--so thoughtful and convenient. The service was equally amazing. I wish I caught her name, but the front desk person who checked us in was so kind and even gave us a late 2 PM checkout, which we really appreciated. Everyone, from the doorman to the receptionist, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Yes, the hotel is on the smaller side, but that's part of its charm. It's boutique, it's intentional, and it's worth it. I can't wait to come back to San Diego and stay here again!

Yelp
Beautiful stay! We were given complimentary cocktails during our stay. They have lovely trendy decor and a cute lounge/ bar area. They serve complimentary breakfast and have a little snack station on the second floor.

Yelp
Had a last minute spontaneous visit to San Diego and booked my hotel here after reading all the reviews. I knew I wanted to stay in the Gaslamp District, but I wasn't looking for something generic like a Hilton or Marriott, so this place was perfect! The hotel has a distinct personality. I loved the attention to detail in the decor--from the stunning molded ceilings in the room to the unique lamps and furniture. If you appreciate art, this hotel is a masterpiece in itself. In addition, they serve LeLabo for the bathroom and shower essentials! I wasn't expecting LeLabo so that was a plus. The scent was Santal 33. As for parking, it is a bit pricey ($40). Be sure to check in with the hotel if you're bringing a car so they can give you the QR code. In my opinion, parking can only be a nuisance if you're using your car often since the garage is quite small and can get full pretty fast.

Yelp
What a spectacular hotel. All the staff members I encountered were fantastic at their job, polite, extremely helpful and so professional. Felt very welcome the minute I walked in. There is no parking but there is a valet service by a third party, which is very convenient and easy to use. The hotel is luxurious and well decorated. The room was spotless (and so was the rest of the hotel). Walking distance to the best spots in the gaslamp district. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yelp
Decided on staying here to celebrate an anniversary, wasn't really sure what to expect as this is one of the newer hotels to open up but my boyfriend & I were drawn to it due to the beautiful interior design. When we arrived, we were greeted with complimentary cocktails & a quick check in. Everyone was very friendly & accommodating. Unfortunately the parking is a nightmare here. Though it is not the hotels fault it is someone they recommend to use to their customers & I would advise from a customer perspective to find someone/somewhere else. We paid (80$) for parking with who whom the hotel recommended LAZ PARKING COMPANY with a QR code they provide you at the front desk. We attempted to park & although we received the email confirmation & number they proceeded to tell us they couldn't find our ticket. They stated if we purchased another ticket we could email a supervisor & we would be able to get reimbursed. So we proceeded to purchase another pass & we were let in. (Mind you we have now paid 160$ for a weekend stay on parking alone). The next morning we attempted to leave the parking structure to only find out through the most rude customer service & apparently no supervisors or managers on site only able to contact by an email that they could not find our new ticket again. At this point it was clear I wasn't going to be returning to this structure or this company ever again. They decided to let us out of the structure & said we would need to call every time we entered and re entered which was ridiculous especially when there are other people waiting to exit and leave & don't have 30 minute sit there and wait. We noticed that the Wyndham across the street offered valet parking & they were kind enough to allow us to park there after hearing the experience we already had. If it wasn't for them we would have left. The young lady at the front desk apologized for our difficulties & offered to reimburse us for parking which she did not have to do since it was a different company but she was kind enough to do so. (Side note the parking company responded to my email with a 30$ parking voucher but no refund). The hotel itself has 1 elevator for 5 Floors so sometimes it is a bit of a wait. There is no pool or gym, this is also a restored space & some of the details in the rooms look a bit rushed. The lobby & the cocktail lounge for me were the main stars of the show at this location. Customer service WAS AMAZING please don't discount that here & is the reason for any stars at all aside from the atmosphere & ambience but I feel for what the room rates were, it was unjust & I would maybe just stop in for a photo op of the lobby.

Not only was the hotel absolutely stunning the staff especially Mark were remarkable! Thank you Granger for your hospitality! See you again soon

Yelp
I had to submit a form to obtain stay credit because despite the fact the hotel supposedly has someone who manually adds the stay credit to your account, it never showed in my history. I should note I've 14 years of platinum elite or higher with Marriott. Since no stay credit is issued, I've downgraded to one star for my stay because this means staying here is worthless, and I'll have to book yet another Marriott stay elsewhere in order to obtain credit towards elite status for 2026. This was the response from Marriott: I hope that you enjoyed your stay at the Granger Hotel Gaslamp Quarter, a Member of Design Hotels. In order to earn Marriott Bonvoy® points for your stay, the reservation must be booked using a qualified room rate as defined by our terms and conditions and you must pay the hotel directly. As I reviewed your stay information, I found that your stay was billed to a master account that is not qualified for earnings.  My reply: Hi the hotel was billed to my own CC in my name. For all other Marriott stays since 2016, I've never had an issue. I will refrain from booking this hotel in the future. Thanks!

Yelp
Such a stunning and unique hotel in Gaslamp. I like that it's very private and you must have a reservation as a hotel guest in order to enter the building. That being said -- it's def a boutique hotel (doesn't have a real bar or restaurant). However, they offer this large, beautiful breakfast bar every morning and you get breakfast with your stay (I hope this stays in place long term). Anyway, there is a small bar (cabinet behind the check in desk) and the hotel front desk staff make the drinks for you. So, it's not a real mixologist stirring up your concoctions, but you get a cocktail and that's all that matters! Great customer service too! Appreciated everyone at the front desk during our 2 night stay. Will def be staying there again!

Yelp
We wanted to try a new hotel to us in the gaslamp district. We didn't realize that this hotel is four months brand new .... They are working out some kinks , however, I will say they are all on the same page when it comes to customer service and pleasing the hotel guests. Rosie , front desk gal really helped us out with a booking issue. Explained everything in great detail as did the bellman, Kevin he really looked after us girls ... and we were actually so excited for the complementary hot breakfast in the morning. And let me tell you it was a delicious breakfast, hot eggs, and chicken sausage, French toast, fresh pastries, from a wonderful bakery, fresh fruit, and berries, a cappuccino which I adored, and of course, my favorite oatmeal with orange marmalade . I give this lobby breakfast a five stars right there. In evening time they've got cocktails and a beautiful private sitting room to enjoy your conversation and your libation. In addition to the bathrobes and the slippers when you get to your floor, there is a beautiful curio cabinet filled with cold freshwater for you to take back to your room and snacks . " I have a weakness for jelly bellies "Nespresso pods for you in the morning. Hardwood floors in the rooms with area, rugs, and gorgeous tile in the bathroom the beds are ultra comfortable in addition to fluffy pillows. There's a sweet history to this property that you will find online, which gives the reason for all of the animal motif throughout the hotel . I have a new app appreciation for all alligators.

Yelp
The room and bathroom was nice and clean. They have a little bar on the first floor and a cute lounge area. I like the location of the hotel. Was close to bunch of restaurants and bars. Walking distance to Tacos El Gordo and Onyx Nightclub. My reason for not giving a 5 star was I wish they have parking. They don't have parking at the hotel or valet. So you have to park in a parking structure across the street. Everything else was good. I enjoyed my stay.

Yelp
Amazing stay! The staff were friendly, the room was spotless and cozy, and the location was perfect, close to everything yet peaceful. Everything felt well managed and welcoming. I'd definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! I booked this place for a little staycation and let me tell youuuuuu. This place makes you feel like I'm in an episode of The White Lotus! Seriously the service here is a 10/10! Every adult checking in on the day of arriving gets a free alcoholic drink on them. Valet parking is $65 per night. The gentleman outside is super nice and respectful always asking if we had any needs. The place smells amazing throughout the whole hotel. The rooms are super clean. Bed was spacious and comfortable. There's no microwave but does have a mini fridge. The amenities the room provides are good quality. They provide breakfast as well and can say it's the best breakfast I've had at a hotel! Overall I do plan on coming back again :)

Mike G.

Yelp
What a great hotel this is. I would have never thought this beautiful gem would be in the heart of the Gaslamp district, especially covered with all the plants outside of the building. Staff is great, the design of this place is great, the seating areas, the small amenities like coffee and snacks at the end of the hallway on each floors. The history behind this place is very intriguing. The rooms are spacious and clean, water is provided to you in the room without charging you extra like other hotels. Parking is literally across the street and gated to prevent homeless from getting in, $40 to park(No Valet). Really recommend this hotel, will definitely be back. Only came across this hotel because a family member was staying here so decided to stay an extra night in SD and booked here.

Yelp
Amazing stay at the Granger Hotel! Perfect location, great service, and super comfortable rooms. Five stars all the way.

Yelp
I'm local to SD and we stopped here for one day so we could go clubbing. This hotel was AMAZING!! It's so beautiful and everything looks beating inside. My room was exceptional. It came with amenities I didn't even know I needed! If you're visiting SD, this is definitely the place to stay at.
google avatar

William D.

Yelp
If you're in SD and looking for something different from staying in a typical chain hotel, this boutique hotel with a cool vibe has you covered. Plants everywhere. Original building architectural details preserved. Super friendly and helpful staff that even made me a complimentary dirty martini when I got there. Nice, clean room. It reminded me of the Cromwell Hotel in LV. Definitely a place I'll be returning to the next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Carol P.

Yelp
The ambiance, the decor, the cleanliness, the staff, the free breakfast + free drink included, loved this place! A new staple for SD. Insanely impressed after staying here

Yelp
Horrible. Sheets and shower were dirty. We called for new blanket cause we only saw that one stain so we called and said there was a stain that looked like blood. They sent two security guards up to bring the blanket instead of housekeeping which was a bit weird. When we went to change the blanket the rest of the sheets were dirty. We called again, and they finally picked up after four times and offered a room change. They came up to give a key and I asked if there was a manger I can speak to about the condition of the room we were put in. She told me that the person on the phone was "actually the manager, or at least my supervisor" ??? Whatever that meant. Which for a manger he didn't seemed to shocked or concern about the dirtiness of the room when we spoke on the phone. We moved rooms, to a room with a smaller bathroom and was more dated looking than the old room. The condition of the old room was disgusting. There was hair in the bed sheets, shower, and stains on the shower curtain and bed. They also had a small staff. The front desk was also a bartender, concierge, and receptionist for some reason. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Yelp
We live in the Meridian Condo and decided to drop into the new Granger Hotel to see if it would be someplace out of town guests might stay. The door person stopped us and asked if we were checking in, and we told him we lived around the corner and were planning to check out the hotel. He said if we were not guests we could not enter. Not only will we not utilize this hotel for our guests, we would urge others to avoid this unfriendly and inhospitable hotel.

Yelp
This review is specifically for Ian at the front desk. I came here in a frantic state fleeing the wild fires of Los Angeles. Not only was Ian able to check me in earlier but gave me a 15% discount, any bit helps and Ian certainly did. Thank you !

Yelp
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The staff and property are so far off from what you'd expect from a Marriott. It's not safe and the manager doesn't take action. I'm ensuring Marriott corporate is aware.

Yelp
This is truly an amazing artisan hotel!! From the moment you arrive to check out you are made to feel welcome. The front desk is also the bar, so after a long plane ride or cranky uber driver, you walk in and receive a wonderful complimentary cocktail. The decor is tropical and artistic. Super relaxing and comfortable. The rooms are charming and pay homage to the history of the building. I am definitely going to be back and stay here again. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel!!

Yelp
This is tough review because I really like the hotel I just hate the area. First the staff are really nice very professional and courteous. It feels upscale in the lobby. It's a very pretty place to sit ... You feel like you are not in California. My first issue is why is there no coffee full time with fresh cream as there is with breakfast. I want to sit there especially at night but there's nothing but alcohol beverages. There is coffee machine with pods and those little creamers in room hallways but I don't want gas station coffee and creamers when in a nicer hotel. Also there are pastries at breakfast they remove at 10 am sharp. Well why don't they put out the pastries from earlier for quests. Where are they going to likely in garbage after breakfast. Rooms are small but have a great European touch. I did feel like I staying in a nice hotel in France. I totally have no issues with this hotel. I really enjoyed it here BUT the 65 dollar a night parking is insane. Also the area is terrible. Homeless everywhere it's dirty and it's not safe at night with no street parking at all. A lot of stores are closed and even Starbucks has little or no seating because I'm sure homeless would just sleep there all day. It's sad because the hotel is really nice but the area is run down and not a place I would bring my kids too. BTW breakfast is pretty good it was a pleasant experience overall with real coffee and real cream not from any pods. Again with this price point with the crazy parking fee and bad area is a real problem. Most hotels I don't like this place I do but the area is just a deal breaker.

Yelp
Charming little spot, but as other reviews have mentioned the parking situation is terrible...overpriced and cramped. Gaslamp can be hit or miss at night, not the type of place you want to walk by yourself...service was typical. My wife and I received a complimentary cocktail upon arrival. The room itself is pretty small but appeared clean and well maintained. Probably would book at a different spot just because of the parking situation alone.

Yelp
So much character!!! Wow honestly so impressed with the attention to detail and artistry in this hotel. It was the most perfect spot right in the beginning of the Gaslamp Quarter. Close to good restaurants and fun places. The beds are super comfortable and decent size rooms. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Staff was sooo friendly and accommodating, gave us so many recommendations on restaurants. Over all an amazing experience! Beautiful classy gorgeous place to stay. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This hotel is so cool! Definitely a vibe! Free drinks when you check in and the aesthetic of the whole place is awesome. Room is really comfortable and bed was amazing. Parking wise, If you get lucky and get street parking if not looking at $40 a night which is kind of a bummer but that's almost everywhere in downtown. Definitely will be back

Yelp
"Artsy Fartsy"... Mostly FARTSY! Without question thee worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!! The "bar" is behind the registration desk!!! Lol but they at least give you one free drink as you check in... should be 3 or 4 as you soon realize the mistake you made by booking here!!! The pool and gym... do not exist at the hotel... lol.., they are 2 blocks away at another hotel that accepts you with a permission slip!!! Lol The "room" is about the size if a walk-in closet, smallest room I have ever stayed in!!! Then there is no phone to tie in with the front desk... The bathroom is tiny, although the floor is nicely tiled, the shower is a plastic pan... RIDICULOUS!!! Parking on site does not exist as you have to use a public lot a block and a half away... and the one I unfortunately used, I had to go back down at 3:00 am to pay another $35 to get us through the night... $70 TOTAL TO PARK IN A URINE INFESTED NEIGHBORHOOD!!! Thank God I did not get mugged!!! Then I get back to the room, in a daze... and the thermostat is at 75 and will not go down!!! The bed was mush and the pillows are cheap foam, not down... so I got ZERO SLEEP!!! In my opinion, NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME PLAYERS... should re-invent itself as a youth hostel!!! Booked through Expedia and paid ALL taxes and fees ahead of time... saved $20 or so... only to see today that the HOSTEL charged my card on file illegally for another $50... like I'm not gonna notice?!! Just filed a fraud charge with my bank!!! Thank you Granger for ruining my birthday weekend!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

Yelp
Very nice urban hotel. Good sized rooms, not spacious but sufficient. Bedding and towels above average and the buffet was excellent. Downside is that there are lowlifes sleeping on the street but all of Downtown San Diego looks like that now. Parking is a hassle. Adds $40 to the nightly cost and one must walk a block to access the parking.

Yelp
This hotel is a scam. Avoid. They gave me a booking and then the morning of the reservation they increased the room charge by seven times. Don't book here as they won't honour their booking

Yelp
AMAZING!!! Just amazing! The staff was beyond kind and helpful. The little details and amenities made the stay so enjoyable. Everything was clean and comfortable! I can't wait to stay again, just a great experience over all. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!! A MUST stay!
