I made a reservation well in advance for 7:00 pm on Valentine's Day. My date and I arrived at 7:00 and were told that there would be a 15-minute wait. OK, I'm not going to get upset about that. And the wait turned out to be shorter than 15 minutes, so that was good.
We were seated at a table next to a drafty window, and it was a cold and very windy night. So it was a tad chilly.
There was only a prix fixe menu, with three choices of starters, three choices of main courses, and two desserts, for $75 per person. Nobody mentioned this to me when I made the reservation, but OK, we'll go with it.
It took quite a while for anyone to come over even take drink orders. Once the drink orders were taken, the drinks came quickly. My glass of Liberty cabernet was quite good. But then much time passed before anyone took our food orders. We were told that one of the servers was feeling woozy, so that the rest of the staff was pitching in. OK, but still, it was taking a long time. We finally got our orders taken, and once again it took a long time for even the starter course to come out. My date and I both ordered lobster bisque. We both like salt, but the lobster bisque was way too salty for either of us. We each ate a few spoonfuls and put it aside. It was borderline inedible. When a server came by, we explained the problem, and she got us shrimp cocktails instead. They came out reasonably quickly and were OK. They had four large shrimp, but the shrimp were pretty bland.
My date is a pescatarian, and she ordered the scallop dish, which comes with bacon. She asked for the bacon to be omitted, was told that it can't be, and decided to roll with it. She then changed her mind, and got to a server who changed her order to a veggie pasta dish. Again, many moons later, our main courses arrived. And lo and behold, the scallop dish with bacon was put in front of my date. We explained the mixup to the server, and they got a replacement pasta dish out quickly. Once we each had our main courses, they were pretty good. I ordered filet mignon, which was cooked properly, and there was a lot of it. It came with pureed potatoes and gravy, which were quite good. My date liked her pasta dish.
My date got the chocolate torte dessert, and I got the banana creme brûlée ice cream. The torte was good, and I'd say that the ice cream was outstanding.
Fortunately, we didn't have anywhere else we had to be, because we didn't get out of there until around 9:30. I like a leisurely dinner, but this was just too slow and laden with too many problems. I will not be going back.
