What? How come there are no reviews? This is an excellent "granja-xocolateria" located on the boutiquey, narrow, and art-and-chocolate-packed Carrer de Petritxol, just 1 minute's walk from the Liceu station on Las Ramblas. I love cute dessert cafes like these.
The churros come in four pieces (1.50€). They're crunchy, and destined to be dipped in their thick hot chocolate (chocolat épais), 2.70€. This thick, rich, semi-sweet hot chocolate is not meant to be drunk, but is a perfect classical accompaniment to churros in Spain. If you dip your melindros (biscuit spongieux; 1.50€ for two lady fingers) in it, you become awesome.
I also highly recommend their chuchos (1.60€), which are soft sugar-dusted Catalonian pastries filled with a thick cream custard, similar to a "Bavarian/Boston cream donut." I also tried their miel i mato (3.50€), a Catalan soft cheese and honey dessert; the serving is large enough for two people, and it tastes fresh, simple, and healthy.
I wish I my pancreas made enough insulin handle their ensaimadas, gaufres, flan, crème catalan, and everything else on the menu (which also comes in English for tourists). Apparently, this granja, of no more than 8 tables, was a favorite of Salvador Dali, and now of me.
