Wonderful time in early August at this resort. Lukas at the cedar point lodge is an outstanding hard worker. Very personable and had some good recommendations for us. Him and the chef (sorry forgot his name) recommended a Mexican spot in Kings Beach and it was delicious! But, not as delicious as the food at the lodge at the resort. I came to write this review to acknowledge the food service - breakfast was what we looked forward to everyday. And dinner did not disappoint!

Granlibakken was our wedding venue this last July, and we truly appreciated their entire team. To start, their wedding coordinator Karina was an absolute pleasure to work with and helped us put together the wedding of our dreams, going above and beyond for the weekend. The property itself is a gorgeous, old Tahoe style venue nestled in the trees, with a short car ride to the lake. Don’t even get us started about the food! We were blown away by Chef Jeff’s culinary expertise for our wedding buffet, and heard from many happy guests it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. From the venue, to the food, to the hotel rooms, to the staff, Granlibakken had it all!

Beautiful grounds super close to Tahoe City. We were able to ride our bikes all over North Lake Tahoe with Granlibakken as our home base. Breakfast buffet was pretty good and varied from day to day, but the coffee was not great (and I am no coffee snob!). Our room did not have AC and became extremely stuffy, even with overnight lows in the low 60s. Thankfully, there was a box fan in the room, but we still struggled to create circulation with a single window.

Just spent 9 days here visiting my son and skiing at Palisades. It was a great experience. Room was clean, comfortable, quiet and in a beautiful location. The breakfast was great. Varied and delicious offerings. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The sauna and hot tub were great apres ski amenities. Last but not least, they did an amazing job with snow removal such that I could get to the mountain every morning with no issues. Reasonably priced...great value.

Our room has had many miles on it. The faucets can barely be turned/pulled- toilet didnt self close/frozen and was so old the enamel was worn to.wood. Beautiful location, service and food /breakfast were.good. Rooms, atleast ours,is way old/used.

Google
Beautiful hotel location, the rooms are well organized and stocked There rooms that we have started in have all had a fireplace, no ac in our room but it is not necessary... Maybe in July? Nice pool and spa, walking around the grounds is a workout

We came as part of group. Our group had 4 different rooms in total. All 4 rooms had problems through out our stay over the period of several days. The standard rooms are not well maintained and look/feel cheap and old with bad paint and bathrooms. The Studio sweets were ok but had constant issues that the staff "tried" to address but really didn't do anything. Over the days all of us just gave up trying to get issues addressed and just tried not to be in the hotel more then needed for our stay. I don't know how to warn people without writing a 1000 word essay on all the problems we had... Just stay away. Granlibakken "LOOKS" great online but it is cheap and disappointing in person.

We stayed in a 3-bedroom townhome w a loft and additionally a 2-bedroom townhome w a loft for the other members of our family. It was an ideal arrangement for the multi families with small kids. Breakfast was good. However I would have preferred to have access to other dining cuisines without having to go downtown where the stores close early and parking is a hassle. I would like to see a playground for the small kids. The heated pool was great, the tree top adventure was a super experience for my 7 year-old grandson. Cruising on the Tahoe Gal was enjoyable. Overall i recommend this resort! Special mention to Rosalind Santos at the front desk. Our check-in was seamless. She was helpful, friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Best place ever. We have been coming here for years, always bringing our bikes. We always ask for the same room, and they always give it to us if it's available which is very nice. They've upgraded us for free in previous years. Pool is AWESOME. Staff is always nice and breakfast is always alright. There's a separate area in our room we're able to easily fit two bikes in. Awesome location, please come here

Yelp
More like staying in a college dorm than staying in a hotel or a resort. The lodge (which I believe was the most expensive and largest room type they had offer) we stayed in was extremely dirty. We called housekeeping and were told that was just how it was. The room was very cold. We are not imagining this as there is another review from 17 days ago for our exact unit describing this exact problem. The heater is on and appears to be working but all the rooms are in the low 60s at all times. The lodge lacks basic amenities other standard hotels offer - blankets, hairdryer, more than 2 towels. It is extremely bare-bones. The toilet does not flush properly so you are always looking are someone's pee or poop. The bath functionality was broken so our 2 yo had to take a shower. The shower makes a high pitch squeal all the time which gives you a migraine. Over half the light switches don't work. The push in/out sinks were so old and stiff my 6 yo could not operate it herself. The included breakfast is practically inedible. My young children would not eat their pancakes. I have never seen them turn down pancakes before. The tables are not cleaned in between services. We sat at a table that apparently had blackberry stains on the side of the tablecloth and it stained our clothing. The pool hours are 4pm to 10pm which are not kid friendly hours. The sled run staff are useless and rude. It's $40 for your kid to go sledding and you can't enter the snow play area to help them at all unless you also have a pass. A girl needed help putting her boot back on and the staff member would not allow her dad to help her because he did not buy a pass. Finally, a fellow parent informed him there is an option to buy a $5 helper pass as a parent (an option not listed on the website and an option not brought up by the employee). The employees also don't know how to put the confusing tags on the kids' jackets. They can't answer basic questions or be helpful in any way. The parking around the resort is extremely congested. We saw some people would could not leave their parking spot because they were parked in. I asked for a pack n play when making the reservation and it took me calling 3 times upon arrival for them to bring it. We asked for extra towels and that took about 3 hours. I don't really understand the appeal of this place. Only come here if you truly can't afford anything else. Edit: changed my review to 1 star after the staff member below wrote me a rude message for my completely accurate review.

Yelp
Rustic & tranquil place to stay just south of Tahoe City. Tucked away from the main roads, the resort is surrounded by tall trees with nice views. The resort has several buildings housing the guest rooms, with the front desk, breakfast room, and social deck being housed in the main building. The rooms are clean, rustic, and exactly what you would expect from a mountain / resort style hotel. The pool and hot tub area is nice, and a short walk from the guest housing. The hotel can accommodate large groups and meetings. The outdoor seating and dining area is very large and also surrounded by trees. Everyone was extremely pleasant during checkin and throughout our stay. My favorite part of the stay was having coffee on the front porch of my guest room.

Rosemary C.

Yelp
An old building that needed a major renovation. The door to the bathroom was falling apart. There were cracks in the tub. The bed was so uncomfortable that my lower back was hurting every night. The building was so old and the windows were not sound proof that a Tesla's motor woke me up and I had the sound machine on. I could also hear our neighbors casually talking in morning. That's how thin the walls were. They also don't mention that breakfast is free only if you book on their website.

Yelp
My wife and I chose this hotel based on the photos on the website. I called ahead, and they specifically told me that we would receive a discount on lift tickets at Alpine Meadows for the duration of our stay. They said we would receive the code after checking in. However, the code did not work, and we did not receive the discount. We felt misled. Choosing this hotel was the biggest mistake we made. We checked in for five days in January 2025, and were assigned to building #110. The room was extremely cold, at 53 degrees Fahrenheit. The heater was not functioning. While the heater made noises suggesting it was operating, similar to a jet engine, it did not produce any heat. Our neighbors in room 110A experienced the same issue with the temperature and the non-functional heater. They were subsequently moved to a different building, #104. We also encountered problems with the electrical system. The fuses repeatedly blew, preventing us from using the electric fireplace to heat the room. A hotel employee showed me the location of the fuse box. I had to reset the fuses every 5-7 minutes to bring the room temperature up to approximately 65 degrees Fahrenheit, a process that lasted from around 6 PM to 1 AM. The refrigerator in our room was also not working first night. The room was not clean. There was trash on the floor, including food remnants, tangerine peels, and packaging debris. The room was also very dusty, with cobwebs and poorly maintained light fixtures. The pillows and mattress were old and visibly soiled. The bed linens were not changed at all during our five-day stay. I requested at the front desk that the linens be changed and fresh ones provided. However, it appeared that the existing sheets were simply rearranged, or the blanket turned over, as blood stains were still present on the bedding. The staff at the front desk were unable to provide any explanation for these issues and did not offer any solutions. Additionally, the sauna on the hotel property was out of order. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Check please my review on Google map with pics and video. *update : as of 2/26/25 no one has contacted me to go over my concerns. Bad management. I will take my business elsewhere.

Yelp
I went for my first ski trip and the Granlibakken was outstanding from the rooms to the service to the ski experience itself. The resort is tucked away south of Tahoe City. We saw the sign to go into the resort and was greeted with an adorable set of starry lights on lamps guiding us to the resort. The lobby itself was nestled a bit more deep into the resort (for us, we came in through the poolside so had to loop around) but wasn't hard to find. One of the things I really loved about the Ganlibakken was just how friendly every single person was and full of character. People were not only chill but just super helpful and kind. I had a broken zipper on my jacket and the staff at the front desk were so nice in just offering advice and trying to open the zipper as well. There was also an ice scraper available to utilize which was uberhelpful for us as it snowed a bunch when we were there. The rooms were spread out across several buildings throughout the property and the inside was super comfy. The heater worked well. The beds and blankets were super warm. The view outside of all the snow was wonderful. The shower was solid and had good pressure/temperature. There was a small closet, microwave, and fridge as well. Love also that the resort is created where you should be able to get to most of the amenities by walking. So even though our room was more north, we were able to walk to the restaurant pretty easily if we needed to without driving around as well as the pool. (Just be aware that pathways of course are slippery in the winter). I also loved the various activities around like the jacuzzi/pool that were open in the afternoon during the winter to of course the snow hill with sledding/lessons for skiing and snowboarding. Really neat and will review those separately. Even the food was all surprisingly solid when it was the last thing I expected! Slight pain points that the hotel was aware of! *The WiFi was super spotty. The hotel tried to help with more options for Wifi codes but unfortunately didn't quite work right. *The gym itself isn't too bad with some free weights / some cardio machines / a barbell. It was leaking though during our visit so some of the gym was inaccessible. Also recommended to bring your own towel and wipes as they weren't available in the gym as well as your own music. *Be aware that parking may fill up close to your room. Also, if you are planning on using the snow hill on the property, I'd recommend taking the car if you can so your supplies are nearby. Although that area fills up a bunch, parking is usually available at least to the sides of the snow hill.

Yelp
This resort is breathtakingly beautiful throughout all seasons. We love driving up to the lake for these special "holiday" meals. This was our 3rd time dining here. The staff is always welcoming, friendly and professional. They are quickly becoming like family to us. The Mother's Day brunch was held in the large room again. Having brunch again in the larger room made it easier to move around and gave each table more space. The tables were beautifully decorated and had a centerpiece of wildflowers. This brunch had a user friendly layout which allowed for patrons to navigate seamlessly between food stations. The selection of foods was fantastic! They were elevated to the highest of standards and expectations. The foods were unique, flavorful, and there were vegan/vegetarian options. We delighted in the Roast Chateaubriand. It was melt in your mouth good! We saw several dishes that were "fan favorites" from past brunches such as the deviled eggs with black truffle. There was a wide selection of desserts and pastries that were delicious, unique, and flavorful. It would have been nice to have a slice of traditional cake to choose from like chocolate or carrot but that is nitpicking. I also have to give a shout out to the mix/blend of Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice that was one of the options at the mimosa station. This was AMAZING at the Easter brunch and we were so happy to see it back for Mother's Day. It is definitely the most DELICIOUS and I hope it stays around for future brunches as I know I will.

Yelp
Pros: My friends and I were impressed with the room, it has a kitchen, a washer and dryer and balcony with a decent view. Rusty's Diner was pretty good too and the hill to sled on was fun. The hot tub at night was also a big plus in the cold weather. Cons: the mattresses were so uncomfortable for all of us so didn't get the best sleep. We also wished there was something like a lift to help us up the sledding hill, as climbing it was honestly exhausting after a couple of times. We wished there were more hills to sled down too, the big hill was really fun and the baby hill was fun but we would have liked at least one or two more hills. Overall, it was a great trip and great memories but I think the mattresses would prevent us from staying here again.

Yelp
100% would recommend. Great location, fun history, great restaurant and staff. There was a power outage in Tahoe but we were happy and well fed at the restaurant. Can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
No ac. And a broken chair in the room. Thank goodness we saw it before an elderly sat in it I think this property would be better if they had a better staff

Yelp
It was a nice resort. The bed was clean and room was clean but definitely needs a bit of updating. One of the biggest issue I had was the mosquito net on the window did not fit properly. We asked the front desk for help but it looked the same when we came back to our room. We had to use our towel to block the gap so mosquitos didn't get us.
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
It is also dated, dirty and falling apart. Customer service is horrible. I arrived to a lobby with no one at the front counter, and three chatty employees standing on the outdoor patio. After ten minutes of no service, I asked if someone could check me in. They said that only one person can do that and "he must be on a break or something ". Still waiting fifteen minutes later. No help. If there was anywhere else to stay and we didn't have a conference here, I'd leave. Don't stay here. I've been subjected to this venue for multiple years now due to a work event...it's getting worse each year.

Yelp
We didn't stay here just came here for the sledding. I would give it 3.5 if I could... but hear me out.. There's only one sled hill, I wish there could be at least three, ranging from beginner to advanced. After a few times down your gonna want to go for longer and faster! Also they charge $35 a person for one super tiny saucer sled. You can't even put your feet inside sitting criss cross bc it's not big enough for that. Not even my 13 year old could, so you gotta lift your lefts up the entire way down. But they do not allow ppl to bring their own sleds at all. They could put a magic carpet or conveyer belt to take ppl up? You have to walk up the hill every time and many of the smaller children got tired and their poor parents would have to carry them up the hill each and every time. So although it's fun and I'm glad I did it for the experience I think the $105 I paid for my family of three, was a tad steep for what you get. when you can easily go sledding for free anywhere in Tahoe during the winter.

Yelp
Property was beautiful but the actual hotel doesn't seem to be the same standard. Rooms were dark, unkept and some areas dirty. They don't seem to have enough staff to run the place because we couldn't get a hold of anyone at the front desk for over 45 min. There is no AC so summer it will be hot in the room. They also did not clean our room even with the request to do so. We stayed here with 3 other families and all had similar issues. Pro's - Location is good and has amenities to keep the kids busy.

Yelp
I was looking for a quick get a way from the city. I booked this place and so glad I had. They were an all in one. We basically didn't need to leave, made me think resort. Loved it, we will be back.

Julie C.

Yelp
Stayed for business but will definitely be back. The facility and grounds are beautiful and well appointed. All staff are welcoming and go out of their way to ensure your have the best experience. Special thanks to the Chef Powell and his team for taking such good care of me and my dietary needs.

Yelp
Beautiful area. Safe & clean. Not extravagant by any means. Gym room is mediocre. Tennis courts are nice, and so is the pool/hot tub. Sam, Josh & Ben all went out of their way to help us get settled when we had a scheduling issue during our conference visit. All the employees were exceptionally kind & helpful. Breakfast was absolutely incredible. The only reason I'm docking a star is because our room smelled very strongly of cigarettes even though it was non smoking.

Charlie P.

Yelp
Wow its pretty amazing here! We walked over to the ropes course (closed for winter) and found this little guy telling stories of hot chocolate and mulled wine that we could find at the ski hill. When we got there, a talking deer head announced that our order was ready. Sledding, skiing, ski rentals, dining and lodging all in one spot. Thanks Square Olaf!
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
What a wonderful and cute layout. I stayed in a suite and some friends had more of a hotel style room. Both were wonderful. The area was very peaceful and very close to all the ski lodges.

Yanru L.

Yelp
We first found this lodge in a snow storm. After many calls all around with no luck at the last a warm welcome from Granlibakken. So we always have sound happy memories with this nice place. This is a great winter lodging place for family snow fun. If you like tubing they got it, if you're here for just kiddy snow play you have a trail to walk around. Food is good and it is close to market.

Yelp
Man, oh man. What a Thanksgiving buffet. Can't believe we paid money for this Think of Casino buffets, table heaped high with great food. No, forget it, don't think of that. Think of a ten-foot-long table that looked cheaper than many a business buffet I have been through. Creamed spinach with more cream than spinach. Couldn't even bring ourselves to try it. Just gross looking. Kudos to Chef Jeff, who produced the shrimp hushpuppies without a pinch of shrimp flavor, although he spent a fair amount of time working the dining area, preening about his accomplishments. When we got to the carving table, The Wife wanted dark meat. The carver gave her a leg because he'd 'never done this before' and did not know where to cut. Took a pass on gravy, I've never felt the color of a good gravy was grey. Soup with "brownie" butter. Under cooked sweet potatoes that had no hint of brown sugar. I could go on. Suffice to say, it was so bad that the wife and I just laughed through the whole thing, it was that bad. Absurd. Ice Water and mashed potatoes (no way to screw that up), were the highlights. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
We had never heard of Granlibakken previous to an internet search because we decided to snow shoe on a whim and wanted to stay the night. The resort is wonderful with many extras for families. We stayed in the main lodge... the rooms need a facelift and a bit of refurbishment, but the room was clean, the bed comfy. We also had dinner at the Cedar House restaurant there at the lodge. It was FANTASTIC! Chef Jeff is AMAZING with pastry. My husband had the Elk Meat Pie - WOW! FIVE STARS for the drinks, the service, the meals. A special thank you to many of the staff who were friendly, kind, yet professional... Lee, Dannika, Carlos AND Chef Jeff ~ all absolutely amazing. Even the front desk (didn't get names there) staff was very helpful and kind. We actually got to snowshoe right on the property grounds, which was a big bonus. We look forward to our next stay.

Laurie H.

Yelp
Had a great experience here, a lodge tucked back in the woods, very peaceful. The room and bathroom were smallish, worked well for the two of us. We ate dinner at the restaurant, it was excellent. The staff for the lodge and the restaurant were great, accessible, good customer service skills. Would recommend this if staying near Tahoe City - - it's tucked back just enough and great for relaxing after a day of adventure on the lake.

Yelp
Super pretty for sure. Looks like the winter stuff would be fun but do not think this is a high quality resort. This is a tourist trap designed to extract money. Late checkout is not offered because "it's their policy", ask why and they helpfully explain the definition of policy (basically, it's our place so we can do what we fucking want). Thanks guys. Their restaurant is crazy expensive and serves mediocre bar food. The worst are the hotel rooms though. They conduct sound impressively. If you go to bed before anyone else staying here, they're gonna wake you up. The neighbors balcony is like 8" from my bed and the doors are designed to slam and maximize noise. There was a baby somewhere in the hotel who couldn't sleep one night. Bottom line? Super pretty but I would t stay here again.

Yelp
Very close to Tahoe City. We decided to stay here after looking at couple of other options. It's not very cheap, but cheaper than some of the other options for the amenities they have. We reserved it online. Check in was at 4pm. Noticed that they have sledding also available, and for a 90min session is very cheap, around $25-35. If you are staying there, you get a 50% off as well. We were a little late that day and missed the last Sledding session. Our room was one of the farthest one. Parking is just enough for all the customers. The room was nice, warm and cozy. Couple of twins, very comfortable. Spacious enough, but we expected a little more. The most irritating part was the dirty coffee machine - that's the same story everywhere! Sledding was fun, not many where there. There weren't anyone to guide you help you during the sledding. You are your own, no matter you are doing it right or not. Left side of the sledding hill was totally bumpy! It's a little dangerous to sled there of you are doing it for the first time! Right side was smooth and better. There's a lot of places to walk around. Also a trail around the resort as well. Plenty of snow areas for kids to play as well. Overall the service was ok. Nothing exceptional but decent enough.

D P.

Yelp
My almost 10-year-old daughter had a blast. The normal price they charge of $20 is reasonable. The $35 holiday rate is a little too high in my opinion, but it was very convenient to where we were having lunch in Tahoe city and the service was great and the people that work here were very nice. Thank you

Dayna L.

Yelp
A group of us stayed there to celebrate a birthday. We all booked the same kind of room, and half of us got nice rooms while the other half did not. Unfortunately, my husband and I got a not so nice room. It was basically a simple dorm room with a smell of mothballs so strong it often made us sick. Just the basics, we didn't even have housekeeping come by. We were not expecting a luxury experience but for the price we expected more.

Yelp
What an amazing Thanksgiving stay! The only sled hill open in Tahoe at the moment so much fun for the kids. From relaxing in the hot tub and pool, to the fantastic Thanksgiving dinner everything was perfect. The food was absolutely amazing the whole family loved it. We'll be back this winter for the skiing and all the other activities.

Yelp
Came here for an IB conference recently. Room provided was pretty good. I guess my only complaint would be their Murphy beds, it might have been the altitude sickness but they were pretty hard, might as well be sleeping on the floor. To remedy this, I found they had a pull out bed in their sofa that was MUCH more comfortable to sleep in. They provide a lot of kitchen and bath items for you so that was pretty cool. They don't have AC so it's best to find a fan and put it by the window during the summer months to cool the room down. Winter months would be great! Their heaters definitely work. Lastly, if you're a ghost hunter, bring your gear! We tried something out and found out that there's a good spirit nothing negative but it defiantly gave a lot of evidence.

Yelp
This is a beautiful old Tahoe resort. We stay here several times a year in winter and summer. This is not a fancy place-but if you want to get away to Tahoe for a fair price and stay in beautiful surroundings, give Granlibakken a try. Shout out to Sydeny in Sales that was covering the front desk when we were there. While it is not her FT job, she was kind and informative. The pool is beautiful, you can easily walk/ride to the river on a private path. We like to watch the tubers. We also had the best meal of the week at the Cedar House. You can actually get a reservation, sit outside in the summer and have a delicious meal. So worth it I see that Granlibakken gets some negative comments about having no air conditioning. Few accommodations have air conditioning in Tahoe and if this is essential to you, then don't stay here!

Yelp
my business partner and myself are staying across the street at tahoe taverns and needed an extra room....we spoke with omar and he couldn't of been more kind, courteous and helpful.....granlibakkken, you are fortunate to have omar on your side......he is fantastic at what he does and he represents your brand well......thank you omar and we are looking forward to our stay.........

Yelp
Bakkies unite! We are Big fans -- we will keep coming back. Friendly staff and nice rooms with a hot tub in the snow what else do you need?

Yelp
Friend book this resort for our trip this week. No cable: maintenance came to "fix" it and came to no solution. They admitted that there may be a remote missing for it but never came back with one.

Erin K.

Yelp
Great place with lots of things to do. Breakfast fantastic. The rooms are a bit dated and the locker room changing area in the pool area. Could definitely use an update and a deep clean. The rooms are spacious because of a large closet area. The grounds are really fantastic! We would love to visit again in the summer so we could try out the high ropes course.

Yelp
I was thoroughly disgusted by this place! My first half hour was spent listening to two staff members talk about their relationships and the issues they have with their "dudes". Seriously girls? Go see a therapist... customers don't care about your personal lives. Once those two had dispersed I had the honor of listening to some older guy talk about how dirty the carpets were and the front desk guy proceeded to agree with him and mentioned how bad the rooms were. SERIOUSLY???? Do you NOT realize that a customer was sitting there??? Let me move onto the room! GRODY... 100%!!! The carpet was filthy and torn, there were bugs almost every night, the shower was filthy, the ceiling fan was just nasty, there were rogue hairs from previous guests on the counter, bugs in the ice bucket, and our door had a hole in it and ANYONE could have looked through the hole to see what we were doing! The only thing this place going for them is the magnificent view... but that is still not enough for me to give a higher rating. Needless to say, I will NEVER stay in this place again! *Update: The business owner stated in the comment below that my concerns were address by housekeeping during my stay. This is absolutely NOTE true - House keeping was asked to come to our room and clean it after noting coming for two days, at which point our sheets weren't even changed. At least our floor was vacuumed... but none of the other things were cleaned.

Yelp
If I could give two and a half starts I would . The room can definitely use some attention wasnt the cleanest. My blinds wore broken upon entering the room and well most of us are there for the views so perhaps fixing that would be nice. My key card wouldn't work I had to have it replace twice once they wore nice and came to my room and checked and changed it for me, second time after just arriving they asked me to go back to the lobby for a new one. Sounds like easy but after searching for parking for a while and dragging my luggage upstairs to the last rooms in the back of the unit " come get a new card here in thr lobby " sucked and it was a mission ! Lastly what was more rude I asked about room service or at least throwing my trash out and they simply replied there should be a dumpster near your room you can dispose it yourself. First place that charges me a nice price (no cheap stay ) and says take your own thrash out after staying 4 nights .. But they had awesome views and a few staff members wore pretty nice so again wouldn't stay again because the bad surely over powers the good but it wasn't all horrible.

Yelp
Cedar House Pub is a treat. The menu, servers, and atmosphere are wonderful. A new food and beverage director has expanded the menu options. Winter dinners have a big fire place and comfy couches for families to enjoy while awaiting dinner. Summertime on the deck are outstanding. We live nearby and visit several times a year, often bringing friends and family. Cedar House Pub is a Tahoe City jewel.

Yelp
I have stayed here more than a dozen times and felt it's kinda funny that I am going to rate it 2 stars but kept coming back, but I'll explain. First off this place is at a Great location, short distance to ski resorts and Tahoe city, trailheads, 2nd off I used to LOVE their FREE breakfast buffet and would just come back for that, that's how long I've been staying here. But COVID took that away, it's now $20 per person, so no thank you. 2 stars really came from my two most recent visits, and unfortunately I got assigned to stay at the same room 11B twice: the room is small, and close to 11A, if you have a loud neighbor you're doomed. There is only one chair in the room, so one of us has no where to sit but to sit on the bed. The room heater was fiddly, last night it's working and today is not type of deal. But the shower really wins the worst of them all, which only runs hot water for like 6mins and if you don't finish you gonna get warm to cold water on your head, not very pleasant after whole day skiing. The reason that drove me to write this lengthy review was because of the receptionist's attitude when we stopped by to explain what issues we were having, he (I wanted to get his name but didn't see a name tag) instead of finding solution but kept explaining we might have done something wrong, assuming we don't know how to work a heater and shower for whatever reason. As I am getting more and more frustrated he did call maintenance to check on the heater and the shower, it turned out that the heater has issues but they fixed it, while the shower is on a electrical heater and this is what it is, so deal with it ‍‍. Just a hot shower (bath is not even remotely possible) I don't think I am asking a lot, wouldn't it be reasonable to move us to some room that can offer what we have paid for it and work on fixing this room's issues?! This is not okay.

Yelp
This is the motel 6 of Tahoe! We can hear next door opening a plastic bag at 2am, kids screaming crying and 6am.. walls are so thin. Upon arriving sink was backed up/clogged. Not very clean. Bathtub was gross. Really disappointed. The worst part was it was about 90 degrees with no AC! It was so hot, room felt like a sauna!!! Definitely not worth the money and totally disrupted our trip to Tahoe. Will never come back here even if it was last resort.

Yelp
I decided to book a stay in this hotel as I was racing the weekend of my stay, at Squaw Valley for Spartan Race's World Championships. And the room I was looking for was very reasonably priced. Located on the outer corner of Tahoe City, this hotel is conveniently located about 5 minutes away from Kings Beach which I'm very very familiar with and is no more than 20 minutes away from Squaw Valley ski resorts. We arrived around 6 pm on a Friday night, and the front entrance to the lobby by GPS was a little confusing to find. We ended up on the back side which wasn't really a big deal as we just took the back steps inside. Check-in didn't take long which was good, and I believe I reserved a queen sized bed based on the sight I was booking with but with got a King (not complaining at all). The lobby definitely does have an older ski lodge type of vibe to it, from the carpeting to the decor to the tan wooden wall. While down the back hallway that leads to the lobby's bathroom, the walls are adorned with framed moments in Tahoe's history from at least the past century. Once at our room we parked directly out front in one of the few parking spots right in viewing distance from the window to our room. The main entrance leads to a small main lobby that houses the entrance to the two 1st floor rooms, and a stair case that I believe leads to 1 or two rooms on the 2nd floor. We were on the first and once in our room there was a main bedroom area bathroom area on the opposite side of the hallway and a door that could lead to the neighboring room if a double room was purchased. The room was decently sized with probably slight renovations in the past couple of years like with the bed, but it still had an older feel to the room and the walls definitely were thin. I could hear when the neighbors arrived after us and when they left. The only complaint my girlfriend had was that I found a HUGE Wolf Spider in our rooms walkway, and she is deathly afraid of spiders. I wouldn't let her see it and killed it, then flushed it down the toilet. She didn't want to stay in the room after that and called the front desk, but they just told her that spiders are a possibility because we were surrounded by the woods. But I've stayed in places in the woods and that's the 1st time I've come across spiders, especially one that large. I took pictures and places a quarter by the dead spider for size comparison, and the body of the spider was as long as the quarter is wide. She had trouble sleeping through the night have that, but there were no other issues and a spider that size could only get in from a door being left open...I'm just glad it was in the hallway and now in the room otherwise she would have flipped!! OVERALL: Besides the big spider we had to dispose of, I'd say the stay was just fine. But just the fact the spider and of that size was found in our rented room, it kinda messed up what otherwise would have been a nice stay. Probably more so because the call my girlfriend made to the front came off kinda dismissive since we were in the woods, and spiders are something possible to be found....BUT a huge poisonous Wolf Spider, isn't something I think anyone would expect to find in their room, and understandably could be startled when you do!

Yelp
This review is for the ski and the snowboard Hill. This is truly a hidden Tahoe gem if you want to learn to ski or snowboard. It's exactly what a beginner needs. I wish I had discovered this sooner for my kid. But found it for my friend's child and definitely recommend it. For much cheaper than a big mountain we had an excellent instructor and a really great little hill including two pulley lifts. The price was just right. Nothing like the big resorts. I loved how low-key the place is. The staff are definitely young, but I found them helpful. The taco truck is awesome. Come here to learn to ski or snowboard and get a lesson. The package with everything, including gear was not bad at all.

Yelp
Granlibakken is hostel level accommodations at 4-star prices. Low-end finishes, not maintained well. We paid over $1,000 a night for a 4BR townhouse. There was NO AC!! 95 degree days meant that the room was upper 80s all day through 2-3am. There aren't even ceiling fans let alone ceiling lighting in the bedrooms. You get plug in lamps and plug in fans from Target. The carpet is soiled. There is mold at the bathtubs. Their excuse for no ac is that it never gets that hot. A chat with the locals revealed that to be bs. It's one thing to have no ac at $200 a night, not at $1,200 a night. The lodge break fast was also terrible. Dorm level food. You can't charge to your room. Apparently it's not a single owner resort at all. It's a collection of privately owned buildings masquerading as a resort. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Yelp
The highlight of this place is the cozy pub and especially Carlos who works very hard to take care of his guests, treating them like family. The sledding hill is decent and well organized, and the staff in the ski chalet are lovely too. The heated pool and hot tub are a nice bonus. The rooms are older, and somewhat worn and dated, and our room had a lot of noise from kids above stomping around. The front desk staff expressed mild disdain when I asked very basic questions about the facilities and times of operation. Nobody was waiting behind me, and it felt just plain rude. The ski hill has a very small bunny slope, and a decent blue run. When conditions are icy, its too big a gap for a learner to progress between. My biggest gripe was that when kids fall on the tow lifts, the operators are not stopping them until the faller has cleared the area. My kid almost ended up with a pair of skis in his head thanks to this. I wanted to love this place, but its unlikely I'll be back.

Yelp
Throw back to the 50s for the lodge, perhaps needs a little bit of updating, but we everything about the place, it's secluded location yet so close to Tahoe City, the pool, the tennis courts, the walking trail, the tranquility of the grounds and the fantastic in-house restaurant earn it 5 stars. Kudos to the management - the staff is so friendly and happy and they really put the customer first.

Yelp
This place is the biggest s&$thole I've ever stayed in in my entire life. You get what you pay for. Rooms are straight out of 1970.Customer service is terrible. This is a one and done for us.

Yelp
I have to say, I had a great time at the conference I attended at this facility. It's large, but nicely spread out. They have bears, but only one person in our party saw one, and she was totally excited. Even though I kept an eye out for the entire time, I only saw lizards and a squirrel. Sad. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but it looked nice. It was really hot during the day, but the tennis courts seemed like they would be fun otherwise. I didn't stay on the property, but I saw a few rooms and they looked nice enough. One was a two-story until with a loft bedroom, and it was very nice. Out of everything, however, the food was top notch. We had buffet breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, and I literally (no, really. I checked the scale when I got home) gained five pounds. There was steak, fish, calamari, salad, burgers, chicken, waffles, pancakes, bread pudding, chocolate cake, banana cake, cookies, ice cream, omelets, bacon, sausage, quiche, nachos, rice, beans, fruit, oatmeal, croissants, pasta and potato salad, sandwiches, chicken piccata, Indian dishes, caprese, chips, blintzes -- pretty much anything you could want. And the general consensus of everyone I came across was that the food was delicious.

Yelp
The rooms are really needing an update. The bathrooms are old and smell like pinesol. The bed was hard and the room is too dark. I stayed in 103e. Shower squealed the whole time it was on.

Yelp
We ate in the restaurant and the Manager, Carlos was very rude and the food was cold. I would not recommend going to eat there.

Yelp
Held our family reunion here--beautiful locale, better than expected food, pool, "free cocktail hour" for the family for every two nights booked. Service was the challenge...when my son and nephew reported that their room was flooded and the carpet soaked, the front desk knew already, but waited for us to report it and complain. Because of all the challenges they gave us an extra happy hour--but then shut it down abruptly, and then the next night didn't know we were coming and cut out the well drinks. We aren't the biggest drinking family so they weren't losing a lot of money on us--felt so nickeled and dimed! My brother who organized it all said it was challenging--four different folks he had to work with. We may be back just because it's so convenient--hope it gets its service together.
