Granny Mouse Country House

Excellent location with a relaxing, green environment. We stayed in a deluxe room, which exceeded our expectations, clean, comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. A few points of constructive criticism: Language assumptions: Some staff tend to assume that all African guests speak isiZulu. This can be a bit frustrating. It would be better to default to English and switch languages if the guest does so first. Breakfast menu: The breakfast offering could use a revamp. We stayed for three nights, and by the second day it already felt repetitive. Service consistency: While there are two excellent female servers, the rest seemed disengaged and rarely checked on us. We even witnessed another couple leave the restaurant and choose to eat in their room due to poor service. On a positive note, Nonhlanhla/Nhlanhla truly restored our faith in the service, always smiling, attentive, and eager to help. Thando was also wonderful. The real highlight was the spa team. The short lady at the spa reception (sorry I didn’t catch your name) was absolutely amazing, keep it up. The massage therapists were exceptional, and the overall spa experience was par excellence.

Granny Mouse has become our annual escape as a couple. Every visit feels special — from the peaceful setting and cosy accommodation to the consistently excellent food. The spa treatments are always top-class and deeply relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and reconnect. It’s one of those rare places that never loses its magic, no matter how many times you return. Highly recommended for couples looking for comfort, quality and tranquillity. 💫

My family visited the establishment, and while my wife was doing massage, myself and the boys enjoyed light meals at the restaurant. The food was great (pizza, burger and pasta), and also took a walk to the river the spectacular river at the foot of the hill. After her massage, we discovered it was not done as per the advertisement...and I alerted the manager, Busa. After a few chats, Busa apologised on behalf of Zama who was administering the massage. But not only that, Busa offered a 30min massage for my wife and we are still to decide the date since we have travelled away from Howick. We appreciate the apology and offer in a big way...and we will definitely be going back for more of everything. The assisting ladies in the restaurant were all great.

I was solo walking from Pietermaritzburg, as expected. I extremely exhausted.|The staff from reception, (Myaka and Joseph) made my arrival comfortable. The supervisor was great, served me with a delicious meal.|My laundry was taken care of.|The room was huge and clean, bathroom equipped with towel heating. |Fridge has water, sparkling and still, and sodas.|This is countryside luxury, nestled in a quiet Midlands Meander. |Value for money! Great Service!

We visited Granny Mouse for a night as we had a festival that same day, and just needed accommodation. Their rooms were..okay, they don’t look upgraded or like more modern hotel rooms. Their DSTV system wasn’t working and was glitching. What is the R50 trey charge, why do I have to pay for my food to be delivered to my room? We ordered directly from the restaurant and collected when it was ready. Their food is actually quite good, it’s just that some of the portions they gave us weren’t up to standard. Granny Mouse used to be such a wonderful hotel, but over the years they have downgraded a lot. They should improve their rooms and service.

We arrived on Christmas day for a very EXPENSIVE lunch, we were supposed to be seated by 2:30pm and was only shown to our table by 3:15. We were fine to wait at first as the lady we met at reception said a waiter would come and give us complimentary drinks, tje waiter NEVER came, sow e were waiting until eventually we decided to go and find a waiter and the drinks weren't even complimentary. We ordered our food at 3:30 and ended up waiting 1 and a half hours for it, however it was good. Overall it was a BIG WASTE of money!

We visited the spa and it was amazing. The staff were friendly and professional and we had the most amazing experience. The view and tranquility the place offers are unforgettable. The restuarant for us were not great. Better to take a drive and have a bite at a nearby place.

We recently celebrated our daughter's 40th birthday at Granny Mouse Country Hotel, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! The venue is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the green hills and blue skies from our beautifully appointed rooms. We enjoyed lovely spa treatments and a gourmet wine tasting & pairing, which added a touch of luxury to our stay. Our rooms were equipped with everything we needed, including cozy fireplaces for chilly nights, fans and air conditioning for warmer days, and a spacious bath and shower with picturesque views of the countryside. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the lounge seating in the rooms was perfect for relaxing. The entire experience was memorable and exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Granny Mouse Country Hotel for any special occasion – it's a place that creates lifelong memories. We can't wait to return! ❤️🏨✨
