"Sitting in Copenhagen ’s prettiest café, you could almost think you’re on the Left Bank in Paris . However, the menu has many delicious Nordic dishes, from Icelandic yogurt with honey to dense Danish rye bread and oatmeal with lots of healthy extras. The only problem with Granola is that, because it’s so charming and inviting, it’s always packed. Try to avoid the weekend crush by coming midweek instead."

Nice atmosphere in a very cozy street 🥰Simple, but elegant, delicious and light food 😇 Very happy about service - didn’t have to wait too long and girls came just when we needed them to be there! Don’t see that too often in Copenhagen.

This place has a nice online branding, thanks to a good design agency, but the reality is disappointing. The food is bland, basic, and overpriced for what it is. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold the entire time, and getting the waiters' attention was nearly impossible. I wouldn’t recommend dining here. Like the "grilled banana bread with blue poppy seeds and butterscotch caramel sauce," for example—sounds intriguing on paper, but in reality, it’s absolutely disappointing.

Loved the place! Great old french cafe vibe. Service was outstanding. Thank you, Liva! Scrambled eggs were excellent. The yogurt bowl was v good. Coffee great. Overall, I was delighted to have visited. ( the prettiest server in Copenhagen, from all places I visited, was here!)

Google
Overall really disappointing. Staff did what they could, but the food was so far from being good (and so little - and ‘old fashioned’ - choice) - the eggs were cold, the cheese dry on the edges & ‘sweaty’, the croissants never arrived (didn’t want to wait any longer for them, so had to ask for a refund). With so many other great brunch places in Copenhagen, safe to say I shall not be coming back to this one!

Really lovely atmosphere and food. The venue is very lowly lit, but that creates such a nice space. The service was fantastic, the only problem was the price. Super expensive. The hot chocolate with whipped cream was amazing as was the americano coffee. Overall great place just way too expensive.

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeryyyyyyyyy ssssslllllllllooooooooowwwwwww service You have to go and catch the waitresses if you want to be served. The place is so cramped it is really surprising how they cannot see the customers. Interiors look interesting but not really comfortable. The food is ok but is not worth the amount you pay. Not accessible for people with disabilities and children. I will not go back, totally disappointed 👎🏼

Our 11:00 AM reservation at Granola on a Sunday promised a relaxing and enjoyable brunch. The cafe's charming ambiance was immediately evident, but our initial request for the vacant window table was met with a firm refusal, despite it remaining unoccupied for at least the next 30 minutes. This rigid adherence to table assignments, coupled with the cramped seating arrangement that placed us uncomfortably close to neighboring diners, created an atmosphere that was anything but intimate, turning our meal into an unintended eavesdropping session. The avocado on sourdough, a dish we were eager to savor based on the cafe's online presence, proved to be a significant letdown. The portion size was surprisingly small, a stark contrast to the generous servings depicted in online photos. Furthermore, the avocado itself was bland and uninspired, lacking any discernible flavor. We later observed other patrons receiving considerably larger portions, leading us to suspect we were served the less desirable end slices. Service throughout our brunch was inconsistent and at times, bordered on dismissive. After finishing our meal, we were left unattended until we actively sought out a waitress to inquire about coffee. The response was lukewarm at best, and the subsequent attempt to order dessert was a frustrating experience. The initial claim that the banana bread was "sold out" was followed by a limited offering of "only croissants," only to be corrected after further inquiry to include pan au chocolat. While the pan au chocolat and coffee were ultimately enjoyable, they did little to redeem the preceding series of missteps. Granola possesses the potential for a delightful Sunday brunch destination, but our experience highlighted significant shortcomings in service consistency and portion control. The inflexible table assignments and seemingly arbitrary portion sizes left us feeling underwhelmed and undervalued. While the final coffee and pastry were a pleasant conclusion, they were overshadowed by the earlier disappointments. A more attentive and flexible approach is crucial to ensure a truly satisfying brunch experience for all patrons at Granola.

The ambiance is nice but we didn’t have the best time here in Granola. It was very hard to get the attention of the wait staff and it took us a long time to even get some water. The variety in the lunch menu is not very satisfying and sadly the brunch is over at 12, which is a bit early for weekends imo. We ordered the avocado on rye bread and an omelette with ham & cheese. The omelette was good but the avocado toast was not the best. Right after we were done with our food, the staff told us that we need to get the bill and vacate the table as they had another reservation soon. This wasn’t nice, as we spent most of our time here waiting and were expected to leave right after we finished our plates. Not a good experience.

Yelp
Came for dinner and we thought the menu was like brunch, so we were a little surprised that it was much more traditional. That said, it was very good. We got the Artichoke Chips with Stake Tartar which was crunchy and savory. For dinner it was the Pork Shank and Turbot. The Turbot, flounder, was slightly sweet and crispy with a light seasoning. The truffle fries made a good crispy side. Service was excellent.

Yelp
Wonderfully cute breakfast dishes, but a bit small. However, we were able to enjoy our meal on a table along the sidewalk. The food was very good and the setting was great for a sunny summer day in Copenhagen. Granola is on a nice street in Frederiksberg with local shops in the area.

Yelp
Copenhagen offers multiple places with similar menuchoises: So nothing unique here. The street is vibrant and the ambience on the small terrace is cozy. This is a cafe, not a restaurant. I asked if I could possibly get an extra poached egg on top of my avokado sandwich. The waitress was super sweet and accomodating and would ask in the kitchen. I was serverd an overboiled egg on my avokado (for extra 10dkk). The bread was very hard to cut. The meal lacked of spices (supposed to come with hint of chili). My hot chocolate espresso came without the espresso. My friend ordered tartar which was bland and totally tasteless, more like a "mush" and he didn't finish his meal. The fries and aioli were tasty. (He paid 120dkk. On the opposite side of the street you'll find Falernum serving an excellent tartar for 95dkk). At the end we wanted to split the bill which was 270dkk. The waitress wanted to charge us both 180dkk. Bad maths skills? She didnt even apologize, after charging me 180dkk (and I wanted to check the bill again) and just annoyed told me to count how much my friend has to pay. The bathroom is a joke! It looks oldfashioned and cool, but you cant sit down without touching the door with your legs. And the door is not lockable. There is no soap or towels.

Yelp
By the end of our trip we were (jokingly? No, no, seriously!) motivated by restaurants designated by "where chefs eat". And Granola - phew - met the mark, with some Noma chefs claiming Granola as a favourite for their off-days (thanks Guardian article). The bad news: we arrived for a late breakfast just after they stopped serving (11 AM). This meant that I got to ogle others' breakfasts - soft boiled eggs and generous muesli plates and dark purple berry smoothies - but not partake myself. The good news: two breakfast items were hidden in other parts of the menu. So, yes, yes, pancakes and egg sandwiches with coffees it was. And...what a coffee! Granola has a retro vibe, inspired by American-style ice cream shoppes. My iced coffee came looking more like a three-tiered ombre frappe than a standard morning brew. To be honest, it was more pretty than it was satisfying, but I'm glad I ordered it. Y'know, for the experience. The egg sandwich (my order) was lovely...two grilled brioche slices with a patty of frittata-like (potato, ham, tomato) egg between. That said, if you have a Hulk-sized hunger, it probably won't stick with you for ages. I think what I love best is the vibe. There's an old timey feel with concrete floors and a retro hand-dryer and powdered ivory soap in the bathrooms. Oh, and the people watching! Did I mention that? Copenhagen generally had me gawking at adorable babies and bikers with pups and street-style-fresh couples: Granola is a great concentration of all of the above. Yelp note: do as I say and not as I did: note the breakfast times.

Yelp
I saw that this place had pretty good marks on yelp, and was in my city guide as well, so since our apartment wasn't far away from it, we decided to take breakfast there on our first day in the city. When we arrived in the restaurant, we had to wait a little bit to be seated (10 / 15 min). We both wanted to take the brunch but then the waitress told us that since it was 12:10 it was impossible to have the brunch and we had to choose on the lunch menu. I took the salmon smorrebrod and my boyfriend took the egg and bacon muffin. We waited quiet a long time before our lunch came but maybe the place is a slow food restaurant, we were on vacations anyway. My smorrebrod was good, a bit small maybe but good, I took a berries and banana smoothie with it which was awesome. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed by his lunch thought, there wasn't enought bacon, and it wasnt crispy. No way to find anything gluten free around here.

Yelp
I used to be quite the fan of this place - their croissants and porridge was by far the best I'd ever hand. And I've had my share of both. So, it breaks my heart to say that the quality isn't what it used to be. I mean, in the gastronomic capital of Scandinavia you get spoiled with outstanding offers so maintaining quality is what differentiates winners from losers. And Granola isn't up there anymore. I can't put my finger on it - they're still trying, but somehow they just fall a bit short. The porridge isn't silky smooth as it used to be. The cakes are less exciting. Not even the coffee lives up to former glory. Seriously guys. What happened? I am holding my breath that their head chef is on vacation or another temporary bump on the road and they'll quickly return to their former brilliance.

Yelp
The place is beautiful and full of story. Keeps a lot of the old times. Food is acceptable had a decent brunch but far from amazing. Service is awful. Employees are bad to each other not spirit at all. Being ridiculous of not allowing a colleague to change customers to a better table applying the apparently house rules.

Yelp
Good breakfast, but not enough food for a marathon runner. Kind staff and service minded staff. We didn't have to wait to get a table and we got our order pretty quickly. We had one sweet breakfast menu and one large breakfast menu, both where tasty but not so much food on each plate. The breakfast plate contained two halves of toast (one white, one rye), one egg, granola with skyr - and cheese, some pieces of salami. I had expected it to be a bit more, and didn't leave the place full. However the ladies attending said they couldnt finish their plates, meaning it is probably enough for hobbits, normal sized females and possibly non-marathon running men. The juice was alright, but a bit watery. Also tried some of the sweet platter - containing some sweet bread, pancake, cinnamon bun, granola and chocolate cream. Quite good, but next time I would go for the breakfast plate and order something for dessert as an addon instead. All in all, a good place to have your breakfast - but wouldn't expect you to be completely full. The breakfast menu seems is an affordable alternative to the other dishes, since I would have to order 2-3 separate dishes to get a decent amount of food - plus coffee/tea and juice is included in the first menu. Cosy little place and quite tasty, but nothing unique.

Yelp
We arrived at Granola at around 10.30 am, eager to try their breakfast offering that co-Yelper's had raved about - only to realize that we weren't the only people keen to do so! There were three couples ahead of us so we grabbed a coffee from the window (v cool way to sell coffee and sweets if you ask me), and the wait went quickly. We tried the egg muffin and the granola, plus smoothies no. 2 & 3. All of which I can recommend! It was worth the wait, the vibe is great and the service good. Also it's not too pricey for Copenhagen. Definitely get there early as although breakfast is served til 12 on the weekends, you should factor in some waiting time. They don't take reservations so it's first come first served.

Yelp
I tried the latte and a croissant it was good nothing out of ordinary. Too small and congested place and is not a kid friendly place when I went with my wife and kid we had to leave because they do not have a baby chair and they have no space to accommodate even a small foldable stroller which is called an umbrella stroller. Un friendly staff members, Overall my experience has been bad and I won't recommend this place for families.

Yelp
Lovely period café serving delicious simple breakfasts in gorgeous surroundings. You really could be taking a step back in time when you come into Granola. All the details, from the lighting, to the weird power soap in the toilets, is convincing! I am only marking it down slightly as they've crammed a few too many tables into the back room, where we had breakfast. Perhaps that's authentic too? Breakfast for two people will set you back 330DKK, which is around 44 EUR. Denmark is not cheap.

Yelp
I visited here on a recent holiday/city break as we were staying nearby and was really pleased with my visit. It had a modern bistro kind of feel with a restaurant plus you could also sit and eat at the bar (and have a drink or two!). I had the red grapefruit with mint and the boiled egg and soldiers which was cooked perfectly. It was busy and there was a 20 minute or so wait to eat in the restaurant but this is as expected on a Saturday morning. All of the other meals that were coming out of the kitchen and whizzing by us looked exceptional also. The bread that came with the egg was amazing! Friendly, quick service. My partner also ordered the boiled egg but they forgot to put the bread on the plate when it came out to us but they quickly rectified it and apologised after we pointed it out. Great for either a healthy or boozy brunch!

Yelp
Menu in English, good variety of standard breakfast options like pancakes, eggs, croque Monsieur, and oatmeal. Oatmeal is good vegan option.

Yelp
We have been coming here regularly for more than 10 years. Today my family and I went there for coffee. Unfortunately, our baby was whiny and also cried some times during the 40 min we where there. Therefore, we decided to give her her jacket on, so that she could be put to sleep outside. The owner came to us and said that "that baby needed to sleep now, as it was bothering the other guests". I was furious and went to tell him that he could see that we were on the way (it is winter and she had to have her jacket on), and that we were sad that he basically asked us to leave, especially when we have been coming there every week for all these years, and it was just this time that she had been upset. Then he said that the other guests could not know this, and that I had to admit that she was being too loud. He was saying this as he was going into the kitchen, and therefore being very rude by turning his back on me and the situation. Before leaving I apologized to the table next to us, and they said that they had not been bothered by my daughter's crying, but that they thought it was very unfortunate the way the owner had spoken to us. So, who was bothered by the baby crying: The other guests or the owner himself? Had we been met with empathy and respect as persons and customers, it could have been a better experience, instead of being left back with a bitter feeling and not wanting to come again. And come on, it is a baby of 7 months crying a bit. If you don't want this in your establishment, then please inform it at the door: "Babies not welcome here".

Yelp
Lunch on a weekday proves to be a nice experience with good food, moderate portions, immediate seating and good atmosphere. The negatives are the minor lunch selection (most felt quite brunch-y since about half featured eggs) and the price (~350 DKK/ $50 for two people lunch entree with beverage). The egg cocotte was exploding with flavor and my boyfriend completely scrapped clean his steak frites. I look forward to trying breakfast here soon.

Yelp
We got there on a Saturday at 10 am. The city was basically still sleeping, except for Granola... We were 3 and had to wait 45 min for a table. Then the service was soooo slow! Slow to order, slow to get our food, slow to get the check and slow to pay. The place is cute, but it's not spacious at all, we were bumping elbows the whole time and some people had trouble to fit through to their table. Plus, the food is good, but not very good. Not a pleasant experience overall. The food is not worth the $$ and the hassle. Very overrated.

Yelp
This place was recommended as where famous chefs eat in Copenhagen and so I had to try it out. It is located near the Museum of Copenhagen and you can enjoy the museum afterwards (admission is free on Friday). We arrived on a weekday morning around 10:30 and it was packed! The food is fresh and the ambiance is welcoming. Food: 4/5 We had a light breakfast of pancakes and cappuccinos. The coffee was quite standard, though I noticed a lot of people ordering smoothies and juices. The pancakes were served with fresh fruit and they were perfectly fluffy and hit just the right amount of sweetness. They were pretty good and tasty, though the portion size left a lot to be desired. There were only 2 pancakes (~12cm in diameter). However, the pancakes at Clinton St Baking Co in New York City is still the best pancakes I have ever had. Service: 3/5 The staff were friendly and spoke good English. However, they were kind of understaffed and we had to wait a while for our tables to be cleaned and for our orders to be taken. Though for Danish standards, this is pretty good since the staff actually try to serve you. Atmosphere: 5/5 It is extremely popular and they really squeeze every inch of space out of this tiny restaurant. It is a great place to meet random people (sit at the counter) or to really get to know your neighbor. The decor is very rustic and charming. It has an old school feel and even has a small ice cream parlor near the entrance. Value: 2/5 It was quite expensive for the portion size we received (100 kr/person) and we were still hungry afterwards.

Yelp
Good and friendly service! :D I came here for a business meeting and only had tea, which was good. The atmosphere was rather relaxed, even if the servers wear button down shirts and bow ties - which does look cute. If you, like me, like to check out bathrooms, their bathroom stalls are tiny, so that's a pain in the butt, but otherwise the bathroom was clean (good sign). No wifi but great for conversation.

Yelp
I have been here a few times over the last couple of years, and I still like coming here. The food is yummy, and I am a big fan of the fresh juices. The coffee is underwhelming, but the service is horrendous. It is usually always crowded, so expect to wait, and expect the food to take forever, but it is on one of my favorite streets in Vesterbro, so it has a very typical Vesterbro vibe which is still cozy and lively. I really like the Croque Monsieur and the quiche. So if you have time, give it a shot, but if you are in a hurry or don't have patience, I would find another place.

Yelp
This very popular place deserve a review. The Ambiance is there , i would certainly sit for a coffee and work there for a few hours. In terms of food, too few choices for lunch. That is why i gave it a 3stars. (Mainly, Egg or omelet. Beef tartare or sandwiche...) i would have to try something else maybe, the omelett did not impress at all. Note: chicken salad has big pieces of mushroom, for those who do not like it ;)

Yelp
This homey spot is pretty nice. A good mix of people, although a bit too many tourists for my tastes, but it's because the food is good here. I probably should have got the pancakes since I love those, but wanted to mix it up instead on my only visit. If you are looking for something chill in this neighborhood, definitely stop by!

Yelp
At Granola I got the milkshake. So did my mom. Then she complained about it all day long. Not because it was bad, mind you, but because it completely exhausted her in all its deliciousness. I, on the other hand, was purely satisfied because I know how to enjoy a calorie-filled sea of pleasure that was this milkshake. Mmm... next time I might get two!

Yelp
Saying we were underwhelmed would be exaggerating. This place was featured in the Guardian and I really can't see why. Terrible value for money (even by CPH standards), service a bit meh, outside seating area right on a busy street with lots of traffic and a breakfast menu that finishes 30mins before the lunch menu is available so in that time you can't order any food at all. Sorry, but I can't recommend or even respect any business with so little business sense.
google avatar

Thore F.

Yelp
Oh what a breakfast. The only place that serves a simple morning dish with egg, rugbrød and cheese and a real american milk shake on the side. A perfect way to start any morning on Frederiksberg. Simply love the old school interior design. Do visit but consider going not as a group but alone or as a couple as the place is not very spacious.
google avatar

Yelp
Went there with my sister after numerous recommendations. We had a rather expensive brunch that wasn't exactly interesting after waiting for quite some time to get any service. We were disappointed and I won't be going there again.

Yelp
I came here for lunch today with a Danish friend, who swears by the breakfast menu! I had a delicious salad with pickled shallots, goat cheese, walnuts, and arugula! The menu has English descriptions, which I found helpful. It also seemed to include several vegetarian options, like the salad I had and a delicious looking sandwich with a red pesto. I found the dressing on the salad slightly too sweet for my taste, but that is my only complaint. Our order included some very good sourdough bread, which was a nice touch as the portions are on the smallish/medium size. The interior was hyggeligt and fit many people comfortably. I would come back here for breakfast, as it seems to be what Granola is known for!

Yelp
the portion of food was good, and the price was reasonable compared to others in Copenhagen.

Yelp
I have always wanted to stop into Granola, but it is always packed. I took that as a good sign. On the recent ladies night out we stopped by for a drink. Loved, loved, loved the vibe. It had a cool retro feel. I had the hunk martini (think that's what is was). It was frickin' fantastic! I will definitely be a customer of Granola again. I highly recommend you try it.

Kristin K.

Yelp
This is some of the best bread I've had in Copenhagen! I stopped in here for a quick bite between events without knowing what I was in for. I just saw that the place was busy. The chicken sandwich was amazing: moist chicken, crispy bacon, and just the right amount of basil cream. I must come back here again!

Dave P.

Yelp
Average food, rude manager, overpriced for what it is. Save your money. It's a shame- the staff are nice and the place itself is cool to walk into. But service was slow and overall not a scratch on what you can get in the area.

Tiger L.

Yelp
Avoid the sweet breakfast plate. Terrible value for money - 1 burned pancake, 2 pieces of toast, the worst pastry/cake I've had in copenhagen and a sad cup of fruit - or about 15 euros. Also had the poached egg/ham toast (so basic and very small portion). The only saving grace was the eggs coclette with sausage and mushroom. But not enough to come back for. (Also service was busy but very nice.)
