My stay at Grand Street Inn was nothing short of perfect. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome and attended to my every need with genuine warmth and professionalism. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully decorated, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The on-site restaurant served a delicious and varied menu, and the breakfast buffet was particularly impressive with a wide range of options to suit every taste.

We visited IU and stayed here for 2 nights, in Hoosier House. Room was much bigger than regular hotel rooms, with high ceilings and a big bathroom. The light in the room could be brighter. Air conditioning was strong. Room was quiet. The breakfast on both days were very good, with homemade hot choices, fresh fruits, sweets and more. Staff at front desk and breakfast were all very nice. It’s right next to campus. Less than 10 min walk to admission office, shops and restaurants. Definitely will come back.

DO NOT STAY HERE. My room came with used feminine products left in the bathroom and a used condom in the trash in the main room, wet towels on the floor in the bathroom, and used soap on the sink. Pictures attached. I asked to move three times and they said they were fully booked, which may be the case but clearly they moved someone from this room to another without cleaning it. Of note I had been booked in Room 41 on my reservation, and upon check in they informed me someone had checked in to that room, so they moved me to room 42. This suggests they knew of the issue and did nothing about it. Aside from this, the place is very old with sloping and uneven floors, an ADA nightmare. Creaky, has ventilation problems. At the very least they need to clean the rooms between people who are staying here. Unfortunately, while this was my first time staying here, this was as part of a visiting scholar program for the University, who was very embarrassed by this. So it's not just that they'll just lose my business, they may lose the contract too. The fact that they did not offer to do anything until I *brought* the trash can with the condom in it to the front was frustrating. Most hotels would at least attempt to clean, inspect the room, or something instead of saying "sorry, we are full." DO NOT STAY HERE

Beautiful historical home turned into a bed and breakfast. The room was clean, comfortable and huge! It beats the chain motels for less money! They provided William Roam toiletries which I am now in love with! |Breakfast was in the main house. Although it was a buffet, there was a cook who served you the main course. Parmesan Egg cups were a welcome break from the powdered scrambled eggs at the chain motels. Fresh fruit and fresh made banana bread topped the meal. |I’m hoping we return this way again so we can explore Bloomington, Indiana and stay again! Thank you for a wonderful night!

I booked a room here based on the high reviews and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was so much better than the typical fare... quiche, hash brown casserole, oatmeal with full fixings, pastries, fruit, and more. Noon checkout time and within easy walking distance to downtown Bloomington. Highly recommend!

Stayed here one night only. The room was spacious and the location excellent, as you can walk everywhere. The breakfast was decent too. Only thing I could comment was that the shower was not really high up. If you’re tall you may find it uncomfortable.

If you're a fan of Gilmore Girls this is definitely a place you want to check out and stay at. I went with my daughter for orientation at IUB and it was so close and the perfect spot to chill after a long day of taking in information. There's plenty of places to eat nearby or get food delivered. The room was beautiful and clean and the bathroom was spacious, all in a gorgeous original house they have redone. I would highly recommend it if you want somewhere to stay that is not your typical corporate ran type place. And before I forget breakfast was delicious as well! It was the perfect scenic place to stay. I think any fan of the Dragonfly Inn would be impressed.

Yelp
This is an adorable hotel in the heart of Bloomington. The Inn a a series of older homes converted into a hotel but the rooms have been well designed. Mine was spacious, had a private bath and a semi private patio. The inn is older but oh so charming. I loved sitting on the wrap around porch in rocking chairs and watching the student activity. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great! I highly recommend if staying in the area.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, but I did not. Pros: proximity to IU and downtown, preservation of original architecture and some furniture, new(ish) towels. Cons: cleanliness of room. Shower tiles need bleaching, window treatments are yellowing, spots on chairs, and sink is very slow draining. Loud air conditioner. Basic Inn service was not provided (taking out garbage and clearing coffee mugs, refreshing towels). No fridge. No microwave. This might sound mean, but the details lacked design taste. Sorry! (Zebra print shade on a chrome lamp). If I go back to Bloomington, I'd probably pay the extra $ and stay at The Graduate.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place. I almost hate to write this review so I continue to be able to get a room here on crowded weekends! The location is perfect. I could walk to everywhere and the place was comfortable. Breakfast every morning was very good. I was saying to my wife that, when I'm here, i kinda feel I'm part of a secret club (in a good way). All of the staff -- and the innkeeper, Dave, were very pleasant. We will be back again every time we visit. Very quaint! We loved it and highly recommend!

Yelp
Great location. Nice, clean rooms. I wasn't able to take advantage of breakfast, but the set up looks like a buffet. My room was a bit quirky. The uneven floors (it IS an old house) and the crooked pictures and mirrors made me feel perpetually tipsy. The phone didn't work, so I walked next door when I needed a couple things. The AC unit was LOUD; I was glad that it was cool enough that I could shut it off and open the windows. Finally, it took a few minutes to figure out why there was a boat ladder tucked under the dresser.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights. The location was very good, close to the IU campus and the downtown area. So good walkability. I think the hotel is missing the mark on several levels. When we checked in, the front desk folks were friendly, but not overly solicitous. We arrived before our room was ready, and they told us that we could not check in, but did not offer to allow us to leave our luggage behind the desk. When we ASKED they were fine with that, but just wondering why they wouldn't suggest it in the first place? On the backend, when we checked out, no one asked us how our stay was. I think that's pretty basic when you're in the hotel, business, right? The food was good, not great. I will never figure out why a bed-and-breakfast doesn't have DELICIOUS coffee? Their's was more like hot water, not robust. Get rid of the coffee in the room and serve GREAT coffee in the dining area! The rooms are dated, dings on the furniture and upholstery dark, but were overall very clean, except for the blinds, which had a lot of caked on dust. No ice bucket in the room. Would I stay here again,? Not sure. I just think they need to up their game.

Yelp
I had a great experience here. The Inn is beautifully decorated. I felt that I had stepped into the early 1900's. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast menu had quite a variety of items to choose from. Everything was delicious! Very quiet and relaxing neighborhood.

Yelp
If tou want to stay in the most beautiful, friendly, comfortable hotel in Bloomington stay here. The staff are the Gold Standard hospitality and should be a model for everyone in this type of business. The room was great! Clean and cozy. The breakfast was to die for. Ruthie who served us breakfast was so joyfully it made my day. The first morning my friend can't have gluten asked her if breakfast was gluten free and Ruthie told no, and asked if she could fry him up some bacon and eggs which she promptly did. Day 2 I slept in past breakfast. They had stopped serving, I was 30 minutes past closing. I rushed in and Ruthie says " Jim I so glad you made it I was waiting for you so I could clean up." WOW! What place does this? One morning they had cherry preserves, i had never had them before. I k now shocking. I mentioned they were wonderful and Ruthie goes down to the kitchen and brings a me a jar and tells me to take it home. This place was so amazing I went out of our way on the drive back from Atlanta to San Diego just to go back through Bloomington so my wife could stay here with me. This place is EPIC!!

Yelp
Very nice old B&B in the heart of Bloomington, within walkable distance from the university, Kirkwood avenue and the courthouse. Comfortable rooms, large bathrooms (with showers) and overall quiet (if you ignore the neighboring student houses). Breakfast is quite satisfying in a lovely and quiet room. Friendly staff. Yes, I'll go back.

Yelp
I have stayed here a couple of time for Lotus Festival. The location is ideal for lotus, or probably any Bloomington activity. It's also easy walking distance to the campus. The hotel is advertised as a bed and breakfast, but it's really a standard hotel with a cafeteria style meal offered at breakfast. The meal offered is good for hotel fare. The rooms are Spartan and have some problems. Examples are smoke detectors that randomly alarm (a prior visit), gash in the wall (see pic), leaky shower faucet/low pressure and light switch that controls power to the refrigerator and multiple electrical outlets. I find the last especially annoying because there is no warning that, unless the switch is in the on position, half the outlets in the room do not function. A nice thing is that the hotel staff frequently put out cookies and fruit. Two of the buildings have a porch and chairs where it is nice to sit and eat Pizza Express late at night.

Yelp
stopped in for a night on our little road trip and I think this is the best place I've ever stayed!!! they had cookies in the entryway and both people at the front desk were very friendly! there was a nice little balcony off my room and the furniture and architecture was lovely. in the morning we got a free breakfast which was very good and all for 120 dollars!!! I've stayed at the Hilton and the Hyatt regency and this one beats both of them!!

Yelp
I travel quite a bit for work, and prefer bed and breakfasts over sterile hotels. I have stayed at the Grant Street Inn a handful of times, and really enjoy the welcoming staff, evening treats, hot tea, etc. The breakfast isn't the most creative, but it's certainly not the worst. I like that they provide a selection of free newspapers to read in the mornings, and there is a fitness facility in one of their nearby buildings (it's walkable from the main house). The room I was placed in was right on the main street, and the bus/foot/car traffic was heard throughout the evening.

Lloyd M.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Jim Richter's Mandolin camp at the Grant Street Inn! Check-in was very easy. Although there are no elevators, none of the buildings are more than 2 stories. Rooms are very nice at comfy. Blow dryers, wi-fi & continental breakfast (except Sunday) are included. It's right near Indiana U and an easy walk to Kirkwood St. where there are a lot of places to eat.

Chris S.

Yelp
I'm normally not a fan of B&Bs, but this place is fantastic. Rooms are huge and the bathrooms are excellent and well stocked. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was great. I would definitely stay here again!

K. R.

Yelp
Stayed for one night, has a nice rustic feel to it. Staff is very friendly, the free continental breakfast rocked, room was very clean and good WiFi speed. Walking distance to some really cool restaurants.

Debbie L.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite hotel. Period. End of story. It is the perfect blend of a small hotel but with complete amenities and privacy. The breakfast is amazing, always and if you need or want anything the answer is always yes. The staff is excellent. They have a few different buildings. My favorite is the charm of the main house. Cookies in the afternoon, delightful. Some people prefer the rooms across the street because they are bigger, newer, sleep more people and then you get the gym downstairs, but I prefer the charm of the main house and being in the same building that the breakfast is served in. Plus, the coffee is amazing and drink about 40 cups a day while here. I have referred many friends from all over the country to this Inn. Everyone loves it. You simply can not go wrong. It's fabulous. My favorite rooms are the three next to entrance. Enjoy! Visit the Grant Street next time your in B town. You'll be happy you did.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here during a wedding that was held on campus. What a perfect location. We walked everywhere while our rental car got to sit for free in their parking lot. What a treat! This location is unbeatable. My husband used to walk by this inn during his years at IU almost every day...that being said on Saturday afternoon the inn's thin walls made it easy to hear the college parties happening at houses near by (probably one of my husband's former places! ha!) We didn't mind the noise. The bed we had in our room was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. The service was impeccable. Everyone was so welcome and accommodating. They have fresh cookies/coffee/tea in the lobby 24/7. I also enjoyed the workout room. It was bright and decent sized. Only giving four stars because I wasn't impressed with the breakfast. Part of the charm of staying in a bed and breakfast is the unique, cozy breakfast each morning. While the food was fine, it wasn't anything special. I would've loved if something unique to Indiana was offered, or if it felt less commercialized. It reminded me a lot of a continental breakfast you would get at a Holiday Inn. We plan to stay here again on our next trip to Bloomington. Cozy, quaint, and perfect location.

Yelp
This is a charming, clean, and unique place to stay in Bloomington. My husband and I stayed here to try something different for my Bloomington birthday weekend--we wanted walking distance to Irish Lion and something nicer than the Fairfield Inn we'd stayed at last year. Grant Street Inn fit the bill. The location couldn't be more convenient, and the room we booked (a small suite--room 30) was nicely decorated and roomy. We peeked at some of the other rooms before we settled in, and they did look a bit smaller, so if you're used to more space and a big bathtub, get one of the small suites. Breakfast was pretty good, too, with a lot of variety--a few hot casseroles, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, granola, potatoes, etc. I can't say it was better than Runcible Spoon, which is my favorite in Bloomington, but it was still a solid offering considering it was served buffet-style. Oh, and the dining room has individual tables so you don't have to sit with other guests if you don't want to. In the evenings they set out little shortbread cookies, fruit, and coffee in the lobby. We will be back next year for sure.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I can't say how much our group loved this place. My husband's work had several of their employees there for the week and invited some of the spouses down to stay. I was kind of hesitant as the place looks like an old bed and breakfast on the outside, but I was blown away. The staff bent over backwards to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. When you walk into the lobby you'll see cute sitting areas with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, tea and coffee selections and other goodies. The rooms are either in cute cottages or spread throughout various adorable buildings that all look like they could be their own bed and breakfast, but don't let that fool you because the rooms are very modern with everything you'd need for your stay. Our cottage had two suites each joined with a big porch with rocking chairs overlooking beautiful flowers. You can pretty much walk anywhere from the hotel. We were able to walk to restaurants and stores from the Inn and really enjoy the IU campus that way. When we came back from dinner with a bottle of wine the staff graciously provided us with quality wine glasses and a bottle opener to enjoy the wine with friends on the porch of the main house. Breakfast is served in the main house and is a buffet (not like some chain hotel) of freshly prepared breakfast potatoes, pumpkin bread, granola, eggs etc. You won't leave hungry. This is somewhere I will definitely come back to anytime I'm back in Bloomington. It beats any hotel chain hands down. This is quality and attention that you can't beat.

Lucas S.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Very peaceful and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff is also extremely friendly in welcoming. Breakfast is great. Highly recommend staying at Grant Street Inn

D Y.

Yelp
Part of the charm I enjoy about a Bed and Breakfast is a breakfast that was put together by someone who takes pride in their food. Unfortunately, the breakfast here is really bad. The breakfast is mass produced and the quality of a low-end chain hotel. Also, thus place is really large, which detracts from the charm of a B&B. Our room was fine, but the feel of the dining area is like a Holiday Inn Express.

Mary S.

Yelp
My son and I stayed at the inn overnight while in town for an opera at IU. We were so impressed!!! The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. Lots of charm, delicious breakfast, and welcoming staff. We liked everything about it and will recommend it to others and return ourselves! We ate at The Upland restaurant and loved that, too!

D K.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise! We lived in Bloomington for 10 years or so. We learned about the Grant Street Inn from some good friends. It is a great place to stay. The front desk staff is friendly and the rooms were spacious and delightful. Generally, Hotel breakfasts are not my favorite. Grant Street served a nice breakfast. Would definitely stay there on our next trip to Bloomington!

T D.

Yelp
First time at a bed and breakfast, so maybe it just isn't for me. But why pay so much money to stay in a room where you can hear your neighbors talk and the sticky doors close in the middle of the night?? If you can look beyond that though, the place is friendly, clean, and convenient to IU. Unique bedrooms and a decent breakfast. The bathroom had a slight musty smell to it, but perhaps it was due to the age of the building?? There is a small gym in one of the buildings that has everything that you need. Free cookies and cocoa/tea in the afternoons. Staff is very accommodating. Again, it may just be that B&B's are too much like home to feel like you're on vacation.

Lee H.

Yelp
Stayed here 3 nights while celebrating a wedding. Very comfortable beds, friendly staff, and delicious breakfast. The man servicing the breakfast worked like crazy to ensure fresh food and clean tables. And the afternoon cookies were delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

Susan K.

Yelp
This will be our new home away from home when we visit our daughter at IU. The location is perfect walking distance to cafes and shops and campus! The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is a full breakfast with everything from Eggs and pancakes to oatmeal, cereals and yogurt and fruit. They even have almond milk for coffee! Darling porches with rocking chairs let you relax and enjoy the quiet neighborhood. We felt safe and comfortable and enjoyed our stay immensely!

Lucia A.

Yelp
My husband and I got married down in Bloomington this past weekend. I wanted to stay at a bed & breakfast and have a warm, friendly place for all of our families to stay. This place was perfect! It was only a short drive from Deer Park Manor (where we got married) and it was a great facility. We had the entire building of one of the newer buildings. It was great. All of the parents, grandparents and brother and sister-in-law were all in one place. We loved the breakfast prepared across the street each morning. It was delicious. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend the Grant Street Inn!

Pei Jun C.

Yelp
It was my second time staying here, everything is good, the room is clean and cozy, breakfast is fresh and delicious, the most important is that they treat you like their family members . They even gave me their alternate charger when I lost my iPhone charger.

April B.

Yelp
This used to be our go to place in Bloomington. We've stayed dozens of nights. This past weekend we stayed and while it was clean, the extra little details and chef-like breakfast has been replaced for a regular to-be-expected breakfast and it felt more like a hotel. Sorry. We'll shop around next time.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Grant Street Inn is my favorite place to stay when I'm in Bloomington. The buildings are absolutely beautiful and the rooms are so comforting. The offer a great breakfast, friendly staff, and great service. After a long day, sitting on a rocking chair on their front porch is just the best!!!

Christine R.

Yelp
I loved my stay here. The rooms are quaint, clean, and beautiful. It's located very close to the downtown area of Bloomington. The Square and other great shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance. The staff were all very courteous. Every stay comes with breakfast, which has a great assortment: granola bars, yogurt, fresh fruit salad, quiche, ham, and French toast were some of the options during my stay. My personal favorite were the home-baked cookies available in the afternoon though!

Emily W.

Yelp
This was the perfect stay for us! Would strongly encourage for anyone needing a room in Bloomington. It is conveniently located, an adorable little place, and had great breakfast!

Andria W.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this unique downtown facility but I had a very unexpected experience. First, the greeter/desk attendant was unkempt and not what I would expect from a Cook company spot. All around it was a fun experience but the room was not only cramped and dated but one of our guests actually got locked in the bathroom due to faulty fixtures. Unfortunately my family and I will not be returning. The breakfast was so delicious!!!!!

Ellie R.

Yelp
My favorite place in Bloomington stay!! It's always exceptional. The beds are one of the comfiest I've ever slept on. The rooms are spotless and have all of the amenities that you could want. They have complimentary breakfast with lots of choices such as yogurt, oatmeal, toast, pancakes, eggs, and etc, that is scrumptious!! Oh and when you walk into the lobby they have fresh coffee and cookies to make you feel at home. Grant street in will always be my place of choice in Bloomington indiana. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay.

C M.

Yelp
clean and cozy. great shower and friendly staff

Kat L.

Yelp
Wedding weekend was great! Family and friends had a wonderful time! There was a small glitch in a reservation though that was handled well. Would stay there any time!
