The campground is lovely and shady with trees. Check-in staff are friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Bathrooms are clean and located throughout the different campground loops, so are trash and recycling receptacles. Our only issue was our site. We were assigned a site way too small for our 36ft A Class RV. It was an incredibly tight fit, but we made it work. The poor trees in the pull through were previously scraped, so we were not the first to struggle with their big RVs. There were other areas assigned to just tent camping that would have been better suited for bigger RVs. Luckily my hubby is a masterful RV driver and we did without our awnings and were able to have our slides out, but just barely. The laundromat and showers were within walking distance if you like to walk. We rode our bikes, many people drive. There are 12 shower stalls, bathrooms and sink areas. The laundromat had plenty of washers and dryers of different sizes. Both were clean areas staffed with friendly people. Lisa Decker stood out the most. Always smiling and happy to answer questions.

This is the second time we stayed at Grant Village Campground, this time Loop C. We had a party of 4 and wished each person got a shower coupon, per day (vs. two per day for the site.) The campground has one shower facility and the lines do get long for the women. The sites are fairly big and you are in the trees for shade. There was a fire pit and wood for sale. Each site does not seem to have it's own bear locker, which are required to use. It is a great place for a base to start early morning or late evening adventures. In the area there is also grocery, gas and laundry. My pics are not of the campground itself but the amazing sites in Yellowstone.

I stayed one night at Grant Village Campground in Yellowstone National Park (7/23/25). The campsite was set among tall pine trees, giving it a true camping feel and some extra privacy compared to many RV parks. The site itself was spacious and made it easy to level our 32-foot RV, which isn’t always the case in national park campgrounds. Staff at check-in were helpful and handled everything efficiently. The photos I’ve shared show the site as it was when we arrived—ample space for a large RV, a sturdy picnic table, and a standard fire ring surrounded by forest. While the campground is fairly close to Grant Village and Yellowstone Lake, it still felt quiet, especially in the evening. Grant Village was originally built in the 1980s as part of a park-wide initiative to improve visitor services, and it’s still one of the few areas in the park where you’ll find both modern amenities and access to the lake. I didn’t run into any issues during my stay and can’t think of any real downsides. Overall, this is a solid option for RV travelers who want a wooded setting and decent access to Yellowstone’s southern attractions.

I stayed here for 5 nights and used it as my base. The camping ground is very well kept. There is a crew that comes during the day to clean up. Flushing toilets, clean water and dish stations are a plus. You get to shower coupons per day. Hot showers are really good and you can do coin laundry at the same location as well. You can also purchase additional coupons add towels at the laundry location.

Nice campground right along the West Thumb of Yellowstone Lake. Sites are nice and bathrooms are clean. Large campground with 400 sites for tenting up to larger RVs. Showers are available along with laundry. Nearby Grant Village General store for food and supplies etc. Short walk/hike to peaceful lakeshore. Short drive to the West Thumb Geyser Basin.

We enjoyed this great campground. The location is awesome for getting to many of the attractions of Yellowstone. It’s a quick paddle to the West Thumb geothermal area -a definite must see. The washroom facilities near the campsites as well as the main shower house were very clean.

The campsites are big, it’s quiet, there’s enough people to not feel too scared of the bears, but make sure to follow ALL listed precautions and use the bear boxes for all food, drinks, and toiletries. It IS rather far from the main animal sighting areas like Hayden valley, but west thumb has a neat little boardwalk look with some thermal activity, and it isn’t far from all the other geyser things. Maybe stay here a few nights and at a campground further north if Grizzly and Wolves are on your must see list. Otherwise you’ll have a bit of a drive back. My parents and I were able to book an RV site and it had enough room for 2 8x8 tents and two Priuses. The showers are great. There’s lots of shops and cute places to see. The restaurant requires reservations in advance, the lake house one does not. The general store has food as well no redervation. And the checkin for camping sells kindling and firewood ($10). Showers are free with no time limit. We will be back. It’s lovely here and right next to the lake. There’s also Verizon cell service throughout the campground.

Gold standard for national parks. (But spoiled me for Mount Rainier.) Plentiful bathrooms in the park. Good signage with directions and distances, laundry, showers, fuel, ice groceries…) Plus I saw All the wildlife!! Bears, wolves, bison, ravens, elk, chipmunks, fox, a bat …)

Yelp
This was my first time camping, and I was definitely nervous going in -- but overall, the experience at Grant Campground was great! It's a busy campground, and we were lucky to snag a last-minute reservation about a week out. We stayed in site G221. The campground is well-run: there's shared bear storage (though we opted to keep all food and scented items, including water, in our car), the fire pit was great for evenings, the bathrooms were decent, and the dishwashing room was sufficient for basic cleanup. That said, there are a couple of drawbacks. The campsites are quite close to each other, so there's not much privacy. Also, the shower hours are limited -- open only from about 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. -- which was tough since we were often out before dawn and back after 9. And yes, bears are very much around -- one even came through the G loop during the night while we were there. Despite those few things, I'd definitely recommend Grant if you're looking for a convenient base in Yellowstone

Yelp
We had site A013. General campground review: Campsites are small and set close together. Lots of trees. A little annoying that generators are allowed during the day. I liked that the bathrooms and dishwashing closet (I won't dignify that space by calling it a room) had lights on at night. The bathrooms also had hooks, an outlet, and little shelves under the mirrors. For a campground, very lux. Every bathroom/dishwashing building also had a water spigot nearby, great for refilling water bottles. Showers and coin laundry are a short drive out of the campground, in a separate area. They're closed for cleaning from 1:30-3pm. Peak time seems to be around 5-7pm, long lines and the women's shower room was a sauna. A013 site specific review: Fairly close to bathrooms, but not located where people would be traipsing thru. It's also located right next to the road to the lake and picnic area. During the day there were quite a few people and cars passing by on that road. Like all the sites we saw, A013 has partial shade and pull-through parking. The shared-with-A011 bear box was at our site. Picnic benches aren't made of wood, it's like the plasticky composite deck stuff. There was a worn circle or two where someone had obviously set a hot pan down. Two nights we were swarmed with ginormous flying beetles, one went down my shirt. We had spotty Verizon service and zero MetroPC.

Yelp
Stayed here for a week, and it was beautiful! The first site we were at was a bit cramped and right across from the bathrooms, but everyone around us was really nice and they respected the campsite rules with noise levels and space. The second site we were at was secluded and that was so nice, it truly felt like we were camping! The big hang-up was that the showers were closed "due to COVID" so that was not only confusing (why not bathing helps contain COVID), but we had to rethink our water distribution in the camper for the week. We would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
For a campground in one of the most busy national parks it was good. If you are staying here do not expect any sort of privacy. The camp sites are all very close together. We lucked out and got a spot right by the lake. Oh and that is where you should hang out. My son loved the sandy beach. We spent a whole afternoon just relaxing by the water. Swimming is allowed but the water is chilly. You get used to it though. One thing that kind of puzzles me is the amount of RV's and trailers. Apparently people don't camp in tents anymore. Camping next to an RV with it's generator running kind of sucked. At least they turned it off when it was required. But why drive cross country in one of these monsters just to sit inside them? You are there for the park, remember. Anyway, the check in process was painless. All the camp hosts were friendly. Make sure to secure your food if you are leaving your site. And most importantly get outside and enjoy Yellowstone!

Yelp
When in Yellowstone National Park, just remember that it is fairly crowded all year long. And it's bear country. The Grant Village Campground is no exception. There are over 400 sites at this campground. Aside from this fact, the campground itself is very well-maintained and has some really great amenities for both tent campers and RVers. None of the sites have electricity, water, or sewage hook ups; however, there is a dump station near the office. During our mid September 2017 visit, sites were $29 per night. PROS - each site has a picnic table & campfire ring w/ grill - clean flush restrooms with outlets for personal use - showers & laundry facilities nearby - dishwashing sinks near restrooms - firewood sold at the front office - shared food storage boxes - post office, gas station, store, restaurant, boat launch & recycling area also nearby - dogs allowed CONS - even when making reservations, you can't choose the site you want online - super unreal LONG waiting line for check-ins - very close sites - people walking or "trying" to walk through our camp to get to the restrooms Everyone pretty much follows the quiet hours, so at 3 AM you'll probably snap out of deep sleep to coyotes yapping and howling after their kill. 2017 Yelp Challenge #112

Yelp
Stayed there for three nights. Clean bathrooms and ok restrooms. Restrooms could be more clean. The front desk personnel were cooperative.

Yelp
This is one of the first stops on the way in from Grand Teton into Yellowstone. The visitor center is here and there are some nice views of Yellowstone lake. It's decent for a quick stop in, but if you don't have enough time if you skip this, you won't be missing out on too much.

Yelp
A great campground inside Yellowstone National Park. We stayed here for 6 days and had a great time. It was very well maintained and the camp sites are nice and large. The staff was friendly as well, answering any questions we had.

Yelp
We decided to stay in Yellowstone one more day. Luckily for us, there was availability. The campgrounds are nice and quiet. The shower facilities are clean and well maintained. The showers were hot, and the coffee in the market was fresh. The staff are really friendly, too. I will certainly be back to Yellowstone, and I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I liked Grant Village. I loved the close proximity to the lake. The sites are pretty close to one another. The location of the Village is closest to the Geyser Basin (unless you are staying at old faithful obviously). We stayed 3 more nights more north in the park so we could explore that area without being in the car so much. The facilities in Grant Village were very clean. The shower especially surprised me. We had to drive to it, but that was fine. Warm, long, clean showers after a long day hiking was amazing.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here! Loved being in the forest with beautiful scenery! I would have given more stars, however, our site for our size RV (32) was tight. It's our fault for not calling earlier. We were put in a small tent/RV 40ft site. We were in G-193. We struggled to fit our RV between the trees at this site. It was very hard to level in because we were on a slope but we were able to get our slide out even with the trees on both sides. Other sites were a little bit bigger for our size of an RV and we would've had no problems if it wasn't for trees on both sides at our location. There's also construction coming in and out of the entrance of the campground going over a bridge. There is a light that has you sit for two minutes while they worked but it was never busy so you never had to wait long. With that being said we loved the campsite other than the few things mentioned above. It was very quiet and there were different loops so there wasn't a lot of people in each of the loops which made it more distanced. Each section had trails to go down to the lake. The picnic tables were very worn but it was nice to see the bathrooms get cleaned every two hours. This site is located right near the bathrooms. There is no Wi-Fi but Sprint and T-Mobile worked great! There were two dump stations one behind the gas station and one at the beginning of the park. We would stay there again for sure!

Yelp
We stayed at Grant village for a few days. When we checked in the women told my boyfriend to make sure we locked our food up at night before we went to bed. After we checked in we set up camp and realized we needed ice for our coolers. We ran to the gas station down the road from our campsite. we were gone about 20 minutes. When we got back all our food and hygiene products were gone. There was a citation left on the picnic table stating that our items could be picked up at the Rangers station. We drove to the rangers station but no one was on site. We went back to the campground office and asked for a number to get ahold of the park rangers, the office refused to help us. The man kept telling us ''their hands were tied.'' We drove around looking for a park ranger for awhile with no luck, we decided to go back to the campground office to see if they would help us. They gave us a extension # which led no where. We asked a total of 5 times for help contacting a park ranger in which they told us they had no way of contacting them. We decided to go back to our campsite in hopes that one would drive by. It started to get dark and we had no food to feed our kids because all the local shops closed at 5, the restaurant was completely booked and the closest gas station didn't have much. My boyfriend ended up finding a park ranger after 3 hours. The park ranger was cool. He explained why the food was taken (which we completely understand, we just were not informed of all the rules) we were not upset that they took our food, we understand that it was to protect people and wildlife but we are upset that the campground staff took it when they were not suppose to. The park ranger told my boyfriend that it was his job. not only did they take our belongings but they search through out things which is an invasion of privacy. We got our food back that night but had to search the campground bear boxes for our hygiene products the next morning. They failed to tell us what the bear boxes were for or where they were located. I had to ask another camper if she knew what they were and where they are. If we were informed of the rules we would have fallowed them with no problem. It was irritating because we felt targeted during the rest of our stay. A group of campers not far from us were breaking multiple rules and was never harassed, had their things taken or given a citation. Again great job to the park ranger, we appreciate his kindness but the staff was completely rude and refused to help. Other then that Yellowstone was amazing, mountains are beautiful, we will come back to visit but wont stay at grant village again.

Yelp
I was very nervous camping in Yellowstone because I've heard of bears waltzing through the camp ground. I just knew we were going to die. I know super dramatic. Guess what! No bears!! Thank you lord. This camp ground you aren't able to pick your camp site which is kind of a bummer. The one chosen for us had a utility pole at the front of the campsite and the grounding wire at the rear of the site. We thought the grounding wire was our safest choice to place our tent. We had the ability to change our site for a fee. We decided it wasn't worth it since we don't hang out at the site it's just for cooking and sleeping. The bathroom was close enough. There were three stalls and two sinks. There is an outlet for hair dryers/whatever. The lights and ceiling heater is set on a timer. I liked the little cubby/shelf under the mirror to hold your toothpaste while brushing (at least that is what I used it for). There is a separate room to wash your dishes. They are very strict in Yellowstone about bear safety. Nothing with an odor can be left out. Everything has to be locked in the food boxes or your car. There aren't enough food boxes for every site so we just kept everything in our car. Grant Village does have showers/laundry but they are not in walking distance they are outside the campground about 1/4 of a mile from the main office. When you check in to the campground they give you a punch card with a few FREE showers depending on people and length of stay. My family stayed 4 nights and we are a family of four. We got 8 free showers. You can also buy a shower for $4.51. You can rent towels for $2.50. They also have three disability shower/bathroom rooms. Those have seats in the shower and adjustable/height shower heads. The laundry mat is large. It looks like a typical laundry mat with regular and large washers and dryers. Washers were $2.75, dryers $2.25. They do have soap/dryer sheets dispenser. Not sure the price, I brought my own detergent. The cashier that sits in the laundry mat is also the person you see to take your showers. They have snacks and ice you can buy there as well. Overall our stay at Grant was good (would have been better if our neighbors didn't chop wood at 10:30pm they do have a quiet curfew at 11:00...) We'd stay again.

Yelp
This is our favorite campground in all of Yellowstone! The staff is always friendly and the campground clean. Camping under the stars is perfect with no noise other than the local wildlife. The park is safe and the bathrooms adequate for this type of setting. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Annie K.

Yelp
Our site was right by the bathroom, which had outside lights on all night making it hard to sleep in a tent. Sites were very close together and we had lots of late arrivals who were quite loud at night. Bathrooms did not appear to be clean. Staff at check in were not particularly friendly or helpful. Giving it 3 stars because some of these things come with knowledge of booking a crowded campground in a national park.
google avatar

Angie J.

Yelp
We booked a tent only campsite but were assigned a mix tent/RV site. It was right by the picnic area and we could hear traffic. There was a heater in the bathroom, which was helpful in the mornings and nights since it was so cold at night in August there. Shower was nearby, bring your own towel or you have to rent one. The general store and restaurant were good. Kids love their ice-cream. We could walk to the Visitor Center and the lake, which was awesome. Short drive to West Thumb! Ranger Oliver Goodman was the best!

Yelp
The staff in the check in are very rude. I deliver RV's there and the don't tell my clients what their site is until they check in. I had one older lady just ignore me at the window and then she told me to talk to the supervisor who then reluctantly helped me. A second time I gave the name to a young lady who said she could not find it. I had to drive to an area that had cell and call my clients. He then had to come and find me.
