Grant Village

Unfortunately, we had two (2) one-night stays it this location and this was the worst hotel we stayed at out of four (4) in Yellowstone National Park. Yes, the location is great, but the service here and overall experience was miserable. During the first one-night stay, our room was not ready until 2000 hours because of cleaning staff shortages (note: the hotel manager did give us a 25% discount on the room that night, which was very nice of her). They had two people cleaning 50 rooms, which was confirmed to us when I talked with the cleaning staff right outside our room. We felt sorry for them because it was the end of the season (they closed on October 5), and there was very few employees left to service all the properties. From mold in the showers, broken refrigerator (second stay), no hair dryers (did bring us one, but that was broken also), to rip bed sheets (see photos), this stay for not even close to the meeting standards, especially when you consider what they charge for a room here. The two (2) different and very small rooms we stayed in were sparsely decorated with updated furniture and old linen, hopefully it was clean. We stayed in both the Antelope Lodge and Bear (?) Lodge – not impressed at all and the lowest quality hotel in the park. Again, we do not blame the staff or the hotel manager (who happen to be out there with the cleaning staff, cleaning rooms), but with whoever oversees the property that seems to be more concerned with other aspects, rather than their customers. This was a major disappointment, especially when you think it is the perfect location right along the southern edge of Lake Yellowstone and the view was stupendous. One thing for sure, we will never stay here again. What is so sad about this is the company does not seem to care about their customers honest reviews and concerns and no better proof of this is their lack of concern to address or answer any posted reviews. At least they could attempt to address our concerns, which we have tried to identified in the review.

Can you give 10 stars for location? If I could I would. Service was good. Even into the first week of the govt shutdown. Everyone should visit Yellowstone and if possible, stay in the park. Grant village accommodations were excellent. Hotel style with hallways. It’s not a 5 star hotel or even a 4 star hotel. But it is very nice rooms. Clean and comfortable. Not too spacious. A little tight actually. Good bathroom. Wildlife all around. Even saw a wolf run across the road in front of our building.

Arrived around 6~7 pm for a 2-night stay after peak season, so had to wait about an hour as housekeeping wasn't able to tidy up all the rooms due to staff shortage. Rooms were pretty decent, if a bit pricey even at off season, but location is great for visiting nearby areas and Grand Teton NP. No wifi at the rooms themselves, so you'll have to visit the front desk if you want to check your email or weather. Bonus: you can truly appreciate how many stars there are at night, especially if you take a short drive into a parking lot with little lighting

Read mixed reviews but honestly, couldn’t fault this place. Nice location in the south of the park…ideal for potentially exploring Grand Teton National Park also. Lovely, cosy room with two double beds. It was clean and comfortable, quiet at night and air conditioning wasn’t needed as even in August, the temperature at night completely drops off so with the windows open for an hour prior to bedtime the room was nice and cool. The lodges are generally surrounded by tree shade as well. We even found that the WiFi stretched perfectly down to our lodge contrary to other reviews, and the bathroom although small was perfectly adequate and included a bath and shower. Note, there was no TV in the room but ample space to put suitcases and hang clothes, a table with two chairs for planning/eating etc, and a cute stuffed toy in the room for children which you can exchange at the gift shop for a new version at a reduced price. Staff were friendly, food in the restaurant was excellent…we managed to get in without a reservation but if this is your plan arrive for opening at 5pm. Grant Village has all amenities such as a gift shop, visitor centre, food shop, laundry, petrol station, vehicle repair garage, lake house cafe (great views btw!) and restaurant. It catered superbly for our four night stay. Honestly, if you’re considering reasonably priced accommodation in Yellowstone, I wouldn’t hesitate. The stay really exceeded our expectations and if we ever come back this is where we’ll stay. It’s about 45 minutes South of Canyon Village - the drive takes you through the beautiful Hayden Valley. It’s an hour and a half’s drive to the entrance to Lamar Valley, 45 minutes to Old Faithful, 45 minutes to Grand Teton National Park entrance, and about two hours to Mammoth Hot Springs - all barring stops. The rooms need to be updated. They were relatively clean but probably the smallest room we have ever stayed in; The double beds were so small I ended up getting extra blankets and sleeping on the floor for 4 nights. The food was very good and the staff was friendly.

We stayed as the village was 1 week from shutting down. There was zero stores open. No lodge. Zero cell or Wi-Fi unless you were in the reservation/ welcome building with just 4 chairs. I was sitting on the floor searching for options. True store a family of 4 checked in and ask where they could get some to eat. The reservation person said ohh Im sorry. We have that vending machine or you can drive to Old Faithful Village.(a half hour drive). The family purchased chips and soda from the machine.

We stayed 3 nights in the bear lodge and heavily regretted not having rented an airbnb further away. We wanted the in-park lodge experience but it was terrible and overpriced. Clogged toilet since we arrived (had to call twice for maintenance - each time they took hours to come and left everything dirty). The room is dark, uncomfortable, dated and small. We were four in the room and our luggage didn’t fit so we had to leave some suitcases in the car. Small shower. Small sink. No AC. Mini fridge doesn’t work. No breakfast included. They leave you tea bags but there’s no kettle so can’t use them. No wifi. No TV nor any other amenity or activity discount whatsoever. I understand we’re in a national park and came to enjoy nature but when it rains there’s literally nothing to do. Very dirty (surfaces covered in dust, and we found a kid’s short on the floor plus the carpet is as old and dirty as it gets). Curry smell all over the corridor. Room service not included. Pros: Bed is comfortable. Decent restaurant. You’re paying for the location definitely

We stayed at Deer Lodge. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom is small but manageable. No WiFi not even at the registration building as advertised, no bandwidth. Whoever made the bed didn’t know what they were doing but we just made it ourselves.

This was a great place to stay for outdoor vacation. Located on the center of the park. So lush and pine trees everywhere. Walking distant to the lake . The restaurant was a bit of a walk . Specially at night . We were blessed as we were doing our walk saw a family of elk grazing around . That was amazing. The room was so roomy. Cabin style with no TV . So it was all about nature exposure away from the city life. No noise but yourself. Coffee , tea and maker were provided. WiFi didn't work unless you have Verizon will give you a signal at night. Breakfast buffet was ok. Regular scrambled eggs, French toast, yogurt sausages and bacon. You have to ask for juices because it wasn't serve in the buffet. We enjoyed it . This is based on my personal experience

As my first time here and planning very far out, this hotel was pretty much our only option. Arrived from the North entrance so it takes hours to get pretty much anywhere. Check in was easy and there is NO internet here, not even at the registration office or visitor center. No TV in the rooms and no AC. The rooms in Deer Lodge are clean and the bed wasn't bad other than the person making the bed really short sheeted it and tucked the sheets in tight We are gifted a cute teddy bear soab ($2.99 at the gift shop) and a nice cloth laundry bag. Ice is downstairs as well as a couple of vending machines. The general store closes at 6pm but there is a service station with a mini market that is open 24/7. There is a coffee maker that uses the supplied discs, tea and sweetener but no creamer. We had seen at one of the sites that Keurig machine were in the rooms so we brought along some pucks but not to be found. The same site sites internet bit alas, this is false as well. Parking is not problem and you can walk to the restaurants and other services here. Be aware that it is dark at night so bring a flashlight and bug spray. Next time, I would stay here a couple of days and move locations because it's at least an hour to get to any of the major attractions. Lake House looked great! We saw elk a couple of times here and went to the grizzly talk on a Thursday night. Ranger Brian was good and he lit one heck of a fire. Yellowstone is magnificent!

As part of a guided tour through the Yellowstone/Teton National Parks, our family had the opportunity to stay at Grant Village for 2 consecutive nights. All of really loved staying inside the park. Like all the other hotels in the national parks, the running of the hotel is contracted to Xanterra. Due to not getting all the international interns that typically help around the summer (and the fact that we attended at the end of the summer season), I'm sure the facility was short staffed, but we never really felt it. Beds were OK, water pressure and temperature was acceptable (not great). But the buffet breakfast was great (the lakeview was marvelous), and we had the luck of seeing an elk grazing out our window early in the morning. If you want value and don't mind driving into Yellowstone everyday from Cody, then I wouldn't recommend staying here. But if you want to stay on the shores of Yellowstone Lake, the village is as good as any. They have a winning formula, and the fact that the hotels in Yellowstone continue to be fully occupied would confirm that.

Pricey accommodation but in the park. Room at Coyote Lodge (in Grant Village complex) was clean and comfortable. Our room had a refrig, coffee maker and blow dryer which not all facilities in the park had. Wi-Fi only available in the reception area (4 seats). Accommodation is slightly dated circa 1970-80's.

We had to stay here because we were with a tour. It seems very old, stuffy and outdated. The rooms are extremely small, the bathrooms are TINY with absolutely no counter space and the tiniest shower I have ever seen! The pillows were awful, the beds were just ok. It is a very LONG walk to restaurants or any place else. I guess it's better than staying in a tent or sleeping in your car, but I would definitely look for other options like Lake Yellowstone Hotel or Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. If you plan on visiting the Grand Tetons, I would definitely Check out Jackson Lake Lodge - it was beautiful.

The rooms are very small, and the bed's are small. No TV, no microwave, no AC. The cell service is almost non-existent, their wifi is the same. The price for the room is expensive. No water pressure. The pillows were just fluff. It was cool enough outside we didn't need AC. It was ok to unplug from TV and internet, however it was hard to plan and research what we were going to do the next day. Don't eat at their dining room restaurant. It's way over priced for what you get. Very small portions, very expensive.

Granted- this isn't the best part of Yellowstone. This seems like a serene place to camp among the trees beside the lake. There's a hotel here that looks a bit rustic and expensive, but without the views of the other hotels within the park premises. When I went, they were running chainsaws nonstop, and the woods around the roadways were covered in sawdust. Good luck finding any wildlife with that racket going on. They have a little visitors center, that tells a bit about the area, and the history of wildfire in the park, and what is done to fight it. It was an interesting bit of info- it's surprising just how much of the park burned down in 1988, the worst wildfire in recorded history within the park. Only you can prevent forest fires! There's plenty of parking, and this part of the park affords fantastic views of the lake. Restrooms are within the visitors center, and there are more vault style toilets near the campgrounds.

We stayed at Grant Village on two separate occasions during our visit to Yellowstone. This seemed like a logical place to stay based on our route around the park. We were at Grant Village our first night upon arriving from Grand Teton NP then three nights at Canyon Lodge and the final night at Grant Village on our way out towards Idaho. If we did this trip again we would not stay at Grant Village, we would definitely stay in the park (it is a must to be close to Lamar and Hayden Valleys and avoid the huge traffic jams that can occur driving in from the outside), but we would stay at the Old Faithful Inn - it is amazing and the Canyon Lodge which was nice and well run. We stayed at Bear Lodge in Grant Village. It was horrible. Ice makers in two of the buildings didn't work, the fridge was not plugged in and we had to pull it out to plug it in, the fan was ancient, had a short and we couldn't use it, no WIFI and even a terrible signal in the registration building and you had to run a gauntlet of 4 foot piles of dirty laundry piled in the hallways all day into the evening- GROSS! Canyon Lodge was much nicer, had WIFI, nice building and environs, but our refrigerator when we arrived was at 38 degrees but warmed up overnight to 57 and all our food spoiled. We couldn't get anything to eat for breakfast because we left early before anything was open. Cafeteria style food available in grant village and fish tacos in the restaurant by the lake. General store closes really early so get what you need there early. I wouldn't recommend Grant Lodge to anyone. They have some significant quality control issues. It is not that much farther to stay at Old Faithful Inn. Canyon Lodge was nice too- beautiful park just skip Grant Village.

We stayed at the Deer Lodge which is one of probably 4 or 5 lodges about 10 days ago. It is in the middle of no where which can be a good or bad thing for guests. There is no wifi which is printed on the info sheet when you check in. I had to drive about 45 minutes north Old Faithful to use my cell and laptop for 1 hour for work. Keep in mind also rooms do not have a television. The bathroom sink was located outside of the bathroom near the bedroom which was not convenient. I found ants both inside the bathroom and on the floor near the bed. They only have one restaurant open for dinner which you must make reservations for in advance. They do have one other place which sell tacos for lunch or dinner. We stayed 3 nights and there is no house keeping unless you request fresh towels, kleenix, toilet paper, etc in which case you call the front desk. I cant recommend staying at this place. $328 a night! Felt very ripped off! After driving through the whole park, we drive in only to find 5 separate villages: deer, moose, etc. Some people by us said you need to drive to a registration building. We check in. We didn't do reservations for dinner as we didn't know when we would arrive. No openings, only option is this gas station up the way. I buy cooked buffalo chicken bites that needed to be microwaved. Check in, no microwave and this lame fridge that was programmed at 51. It took all night to get to 39. No TV and awful wifi. I stocked up on ice as I paid dearly for it. Shower was a single stall residential quality one. Shampoo, lotion was in pumps but lotion one was clogged. A dining table with 2 chairs was there. Spouse attempted to make coffee and a tiny amount came out. This shit show motel is run by the federal government and I can see why. Never felt so ripped off in my life.

expensive and the only thing you get for it is lodging in the park. No view of anything; no tv, no wifi*. not even cell service*. bathroom is tiny, shower so small I had trouble turning around; thermostat that had zero effect. Either pay more for the fantastic Old Faithful lodge or stay outside the park, this is a waste of money. clarify on the wifi and cell service. I dont expect cell service in the whole park but I think its more than reasonable to have it at the lodges. We had service every time we visited Old Faithful area so it can be done. The wifi signal is SO poor that I could watch my ipad connect and disconnect multiple times a minute. They say it can be slow; molasses is slow, this is glacier

This is a review for the grant village hotel. We paid nearly $400 a night to stay in a room with a moldy shower that was built for someone under 5 feet and a mattress that was way too soft and so uncomfortable, it was impossible to get a good nights rest. Connecting to wi-fi was also nearly impossible even when we tried to access it via the Registration building, as was recommended. I woke up with a tension headache each day and honestly, we felt sad at the end of the day to have to go back to our room. We noticed that the Lake hotel and the Faithful inn had live entertainment in the Lounge area while grant village felt like a dorm with nothing around it as an attraction. It felt very much like a caste system for lodging and again we paid nearly $400 a night to stay here. If you're vegan, bring your own food as there are very few options and/or they run out of them quickly. Bring your own soups that you can heat in a microwave and other fruits and snacks. Otherwise, you will starve.

It's a place to sleep. That's all. Most expensive and worst place ever stayed. Guess you pay for the privilege to stay in the park.

Skip this lodging area. Stay in the Old Faithful area. It has three options there. Otherwise, Lake Yellowstone or Canyon Village. This place is more expensive than the snow lodge but the room is small and the fridge hardly works.

$350 per night for two nights. You pay $60 for the room and $290 for the location. We were in the Antelope Lodge. The hallways are creaky. My grandson thought we were going to fall through the floor as we walked down the hall. The bathroom is a one butt bathroom with only a small shower. The walls and ceiling are so thin you can hear conversations in other rooms. They do not clean the rooms while you stay there. They have awful internet service. In general, the lodge is rundown with old sheets and rough towels. Finally, when you walk out the back door of the lodge, the view of the lake is beautiful.

I wanted this to be a better experience but the only good things were the bath products and that the inside of the room is clean. Oh, also, they're pretty on top of recycling! For $200 a night, it didn't include Wi-Fi, boo! As soon as you enter the room you're greeted by this lovely stuffed bear, but it ain't free, if you take it, be prepared to pay 18 bucks for it. At check-in, I was asked if I wanted to donate $2 a day to the foundation (I said yes because I was only staying one night). Seems like they're money hungry! The staff at the check in counter was very polite and friendly, but not so sharp. And it's pretty obvious they've never (or perhaps very rarely) gone to see the rooms in the different lodges. Because she totally sent us to the wrong room or gave us wrong keys! We were back an forth between buildings 4 and 6 (or D and F), the keys wouldn't open either door. After I went back to change keys and got another staff to help, she told me to try with the new keys and if they still don't work, use the phone in the lodge to call the desk. When I asked if I'm suppose to use the key in the upper or lower lock, she had no idea! In the end, we found our room in Building 4 (for Deer) but having seen Building 6 (for Fox), the latter was better. Our building's carpet smelled, there was a fan that was on all night till the next day when we checked out. I like that you don't have to return the keys at the front desk, just drop them in the little mail boxes throughout. I praised the house keeping at the beginning of the review and I'd like to compliment then house keepers again! They're much nicer and sharper than the front desk people. I was greeted and asked if additional coffee was needed as soon as I walked out of the room in the morning. That shows they're on top of things!

Cramped, dated and poorly maintained, Grant Village is regrettably typical for many Yellowstone accommodations. If the upside to staying in the park is convenient access to the sights, the downside is having to bed down in lodges like this. And while Grant Village is far from the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, at more than $300 a night, it's easily the worst value. The amenities at Grant Village are just as forgettable as the rooms. We passed up the casual but rundown Lake House and ate instead at the more upscale -- and overpriced -- Village Dining Room, which had decent seafood and chops, along with an impressive wine and craft beer selection. But outside of the Dining Room and a closet-sized lounge next door, adult beverage options are nonexistent here. The lakeside setting is the best thing about Grant Village, so take time to stroll along the shoreline at sunset while you're there. But in general, finding alternate accommodations in Yellowstone is recommended.

Stayed in the Antelope lodge on second floor....no elevator! No Wi-Fi, Coffee maker broken. Room is small, but clean.

I wish I would have done better research on where to stay for our second of three nights in Yellowstone. The Grant Village Lodge was the only space available, so I took it. Yikes. Now, if I was staying a Motel 6 or Super 8 or something, I would not think twice about this type of place. No big deal. However, after you've spent time at Old Faithful Lodge/Cabins or Mammoth Lodge/Cabins, you get this warm/fuzzy "I'm in an amazing park at a lodge that has historic significance." sensation. Its lovely. Then...you arrive at Grant Village. It is in the newest part of the park, built in the 70's/early 80's. It is a strange set-up: no common lobby, giant tour busses parked/running their engines all through the day/night outside of the "dorms" and the rooms remind me of condos at a hostel or something. The bar is straight out of 1978 with a super awkward layout/very few places to sit. Paper-thin walls (which is just great when the room next to you has a giant blow-up between two people and you can hear them freaking out at each other at 11pm). But my favorite; giant canned track lighting shinning down upon bad 80's paintings. Bleh. It just sort of leaves a weird taste in your mouth--especially if you've had the pleasure of staying at other properties at the park. Xanterra does a lot of things well--but this is not one of them. They either need to: 1. Overhaul this place and make it super modern to make up for the lack of charm. 2. Charm-it-up and make it feel like a historic lodge, so it at least fits with the other areas of the park. Our trip to Yellowstone/Grand Teton was amazing, and I don't want to dwell on the bad, so I'll leave you with three positives from Grant Village: 1. K-cup coffee maker is a nice, unexpected amenity. 2. The lake is beautiful. 3. There were a number of elk around the facility during our stay, and they were amazing to watch.

Giving this campsite a 3 based on a couple things. We pulled up to find the longest line of people ever to check in to a campground. I didn't think much of it until we had to wait...and wait! People in line were getting antsy and irritable. There were about 7 people ahead of us and took about 40 mins to check in. I mean this is a campsite not the Westin. Once we got to the window I understood why. They reviewed EVERYTHING! A lot of the information was definitely unnecessary to read to me. It was all found on the papers they gave me and I could read them later. But maybe that's their protocol. Finally after checking in it was time to find our site. Campsite and bathrooms were clean! They had a sink for washing dishes that was kinda cool! We have an rv and the site we had was a pull thru. However, we pulled in but the driver side was facing the site. Ideally, the passenger side should be facing the site since that's where the door is. The campgrounds are "very" small. But we managed to turn our rv around to face the opposite direction. We also have 2 slide outs that barely fit. Also part of the check in process was them telling us "no generators" past 10:00 pm. That was something NOT enforced at all! I actually felt bad for some of the tent campers. One positive is the site we were at was walking distance to the lake with beautiful views.

Terrible place to stay. Room was hot, even with a fan blowing. No AC. WiFi was a joke; basically non-existent. Food at restaurant was terrible, but still cost an arm and a leg. For the price, by far the worst place I've stayed. Only good thing was the front desk staff. Very nice and professional.

Pro: convenience. Clean. Cos: Expenses , everything need $$$. And even no TV in the room. Many mosquito on first floor.

Terrible!!! Don't recommend it! Dirty rooms! Terrible FOOD! Not the views as described. Cater to the FOREIGNERS! I would've rather stayed in my car! The only good thing was running water and a bathroom. We were able to snag a last minute room at Elk Lodge here in Grant Village. WIFI was a joke! Didn't work! Too many users on the WIFI it constantly kicked you off (that I can live with...we didn't need it). My probleM is for $300+ our room was not clean, stunk, and they advertised food/restaurants BUT THEY DIDNT say it's terrible food. Our dinner for 4 was $150, trout, salad, kids fish, and a burger. They had zero people skills in the dining hall, the food was old and the advertised trout was definitely not trout. The kid's fish is better at Mcdonalds. We wanted a nice meal after a long beautiful day in Yellowstone and when we received the lame "to go only " meals we left immediately. It's such a shame and I sure hope you consider making some amenity updates for future guests. Everywhere else in the park is phenomenal!!! I wished I would've thought you take more pics to display my concerns, but you can see the worst part about the dirty room attached, a used-previous guests mask was left in the middle of our floor, not just under a bed right as you walk into the room!

Pretty run down, especially inside. I know you're paying for location, but this is criminal at $300/night. Would have been much better off staying in west Yellowstone and driving in. The restaurant isn't bad. And there are some thermal features 2 miles away.

Room was clean and fine. But it was really noisy due to conversations in the libby by aged persons with no cares for other guests. That was really disgusting. Sofas in the Lobby should be taken away or the door should be changed for protecting annoying noise.

We were in the Coyote building. Room was plain and mostly clean but one pillow had stain. Our double Room was a bit small , with little space to walk around the beds. The beds were comfortable but walls thin so could hear neighbors. They offer wifi internet for extra $11.95 a day. It was horribly slow and barely usable. On the plus side the setting is fantastic and staff is very friendly.

I stayed in Bear Lodge in July during a fantastic trip to Yellowstone. Booking late in year (May), we were told the only available room was an ADA compliant room. No problem. However I do find it a problem to satay in a room with sheets that are too small, hair on the bathroom floor, and mold in the bathroom. The room was in appalling condition at any price , but an insult at the ridiculous price changed by Xanterra. The Park Service needs to fire this contractor as soon as possible. We had the same experience at Lake Yellowstone Lodge as well. If you are forced to stay at a property run by Xanterra be prepared for filth.

THIS IS WHY YOU BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS FAR IN ADVANCE I could only book the Lake Lodge for one night so I had to move to Grant Village for my second night. I can see why they had availability. As opposed to cabins in the woods like the Lake Lodge property, at Grant Village you'll be staying in college dorm style accommodations. Everything from the "art" on the wall, to the track lighting, to the vending machines will make you feel like you got in a time warp back to 1982. This place has none of the character of Lake Lodge or any of the other great lodges of Yellowstone. Whatever. I can deal with a lack of ambiance as long as there's peace and quiet. But wait. The walls are paper thin and I had a hard time getting to sleep hearing the raucous conversations from the room next door. I finally had to pound on the wall to get them to shut up which was great because I could then hear the snoring from the other adjacent room. To make matters worse, there's no main lodge like Lake Lodge or Old Faithful to hang out in after dinner. Do yourself a favor: book early and book someplace that isn't Grant Village.

Bare bone rooms...these rooms are passable if just for sleep. But there are a lot of TLC things like cleaning of bathroom, carpets, walls, etc that should be done. The walls here are particular thin and you can hear the rooms in front and behind you as well. The National Park Service and Xanterra need to put some money into remodeling these rooms and getting the proper staff to take care of these buildings. You do not need a Hilton, but a room which is presentable would be nice.

Great campground, I would stay again. Helpful if they had more bear boxes for tenters, we filled one up with our bins. We booked about 10 days before our trip in July and were lucky to get anything. We had three nights, on two reservations. First night was on one reservation, so our second day we had to check in again, their system not sophisticated enough to check us in to both. This ended up taking up half a day, but again we were lucky to have gotten anything. The lineups for check in were long at one point, and while we didn't think the people who were working there were slow, or taking extra time, at no time while we were there did they have all windows open, particularly during peak times. More staff and a more sophisticated online system so we could have checked in to both reservations once. Showers great but women's needed time limits! Or at least signs asking people to be mindful of lineups. Each time I showered (at non peak times according to the handy chart on the door), I waited about 15 minutes. Once there was not enough hot water. They are organized so buzz you in, but one woman let a group of 5 or 6 teenage girls in just before me. Had they gone to be buzzed in I would have been ahead. I would stay here again but in a camper, fear of bears, elks, bison wandering around was too much for me to handle in my tent :). No reason to be fearful though, no issues.

If you'd like to experience the construction, comfort and styling of 1960s-era public housing, then Grant Village Lodge is just the place for you. Although the buildings were constructed in the early 1980s, they were built using flimsy wood-frame construction. When someone walks down the hall, your bed bounces. When people talk in the hall, you hear every word. Entering the room, my nose was assaulted with a strong chemical perfume. The furnishings were worn and tattered. And everything was in brown. My room was modestly clean but the carpet was worn and many spots had been removed. On the plus side, I liked the pillows! And the sheets were comfy. And I paid $150 night for a single room. (Contrast this with a Sleep Inn room in Boise for $55 which is clean, modern, and fully equipped.) Plus, they "make" you reserve dinner. Now, the food at Grant Village is quite good, as it is throughout the park. Congrats to the concessionaire for serving decent food, given the park's remote location. Here's what I recommend, if you're visiting Yellowstone: Stay in any other place in the park but Grant Village. And if Grant Village is the ONLY available place (as it was to me), then stay in West Yellowstone. You'll have better accommodations. And you'll be just as close the main sites/sights as you would be if you stayed at Grant Village. Actually, you'll be closer to most of the sights/sites. The closest major attraction to Grant Village is Old Faithful, 30 minutes away.

Grant Lodge is clean but it is the worst "lodge" I have ever stayed at. For $257.72 a night you get a small room, no TV and you have to pay for the Internet. Just took another star off because right now, after a long day, I am listening to the family in the room next to us. Their voices aren't muffled and I can hear every word they are saying. This "lodge" sucks.

The campground was excellent if you were in a camper. It rained quite a bit and the tent campers really got flooded!. About a foot in most of the camp sites. I think they need to fill in the ground a litte to prevent the concave water collections that occur during the rain, even brief rains flood the tents. The grounds were well maintained and the showers were excellent along with the laundry facility.

Wow, this is another reservable campground and worth doing so. Our lot was on Yellowstone Lake at the far end loop and the views, spectacular. Our 29' travel trailer set up on a pull through site with room for the slide out. It was quiet, and the smell of pine filled the air. You get 2 shower passes per day which are set up in a separate locker room for men and women with about 12 showers each providing plenty of hot water and little wait time. Additional shower fees run $4.20 each. The laundry facility was nice and large. While traveling to and from our daily treks to Mud Volcano, The Grand Prismatic, Great Fountain Geyser, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Yellowstone Waterfall and Old Faithful, we saw large herds of bison and elk. A great place to experience.

I can't believe what Xanterra has the cahones to charge for this room. The lodge is run down, uncomfortable, and generally unpleasant to stay in. For this much money, saggy double beds, bugs in the room, leaky showers and faucets, and paper-thin walls and ceilings are completely unacceptable. This was a miserable experience for our family. You couldn't pay me to stay here again.

(Grant Village Lodge not Campground) Nothing turns you into a Ninja faster than a mouse chewing on your thumb at 5am which is what happened to me staying 2 weeks ago at the Grant Village. The room hadn't been vacuumed in a very long time and was not vacuumed during the 3 nights we stayed. There were leaves and old nail clippings on the floor (not ours) that were there when we arrived and when we left. (We did not display the "Green Service" either which means no room service.) The Shower seams were thick with black mold and the shower pan was so dingy and stained. For $285 a night you would think it would be at least clean, it was not. Skip it and go for another village like Canyon where we moved to which had clean and more modern rooms; still pricey though. Also for that price you'd think there would be free Wifi, it's $4.95/hr. When I told the front desk about being chewed on by a mouse in the room and that it also scurried down under the bed, all the clerk said was..."Well you are in their territory and this is a national park..." then walked off. Skip this village if you can. BTW they did ask for my opinion on their own survey; put the same review. I am still waiting for a reply but I'm not holding my breath.

So So....if you are looking for a "motel" that has no character to stay in then this is your place. Nothing special and very expensive.....almost $300/night total. Clean. Comfortable. Bathroom in room. Also, they have internet but you have to pay for it.

I didn't book far enough in advance, so Grant Village Lodge was the only thing available. We were told it would be a "premium" room at just over $200 a night. As others have stated, it is a bare bones room with no sound insulation. The counter space in the bathroom is minuscule. Not enough space for even one person's toiletries. I didn't mind the lack of TV or air conditioning, but $4.95 an hour or $12.95 per day for WIFI? For that price, WIFI should be free and they should provide breakfast.

Only bookable by phone, makes it tricky for international visitors like me to get through - but nothing else in the area was available, so I had to suck up the charges. We got a room for the last night of the season, and you could really tell - the place was closing up around our ears. Almost impossible to find, google maps sent us in the wrong direction, and no useful signage anywhere within the park. The room was fine, clean and well equipped although a little dated. The paid wifi acted up, and I was unable to log on a second time. Waste of $12, or whatever it was. Very basic lodges offer no luxury, but a decent place to sleep. OVerpriced if you ask me - but that's what you get for staying in the park. We fancied a beer in the Lake House, but that had been closed down for a week already, so we grabbed dinner in the Dining Room. Service was fairly appalling, with no knowledge of what they did or didn't have - ordering beer was a farce. I ordered a small plate and a side of soup, and I wasn't told they didn't have the soup until they actually brought my meal. Guess I wouldn't be having the soup then. Plates were cleared before both of us were finished, and jam was put on our table ready for breakfast while we were still sitting there. We were not made to feel welcome. Could be a nice base for lake activities in the park mid season, but the desolation and lack of customer service makes it a hard sell later on in the year.

We were quoted $170.00 upon arrival we were charged $360.00. Customer service was horrible and they would not honor what we were quoted. No Wi-fi or t.v in the rooms. Will never stay again. Go somewhere else.

We had reserved 2 nights at Grant Village during our Yellowstone Trip. When we arrived there was quite a line for check in so that took some time but once we got to the front it was very quick and efficient. Our camp site was great, the only downfall is it was close to the road. The speed limit is posted quite low but no one was following that and this made the road noise ALL NIGHT LONG quite loud. I wish they would do more to ensure campers are slowing down. You get 2 showers per night with your campsite. The shower building is at the front of the campground but was well worth driving to them for showers they are very nice and there is no time limit on the shower. We did not use their laundry facility but it looked to be very nice and large. The women's bathroom in the 2 closest to us were closed so we had to walk 2 loops over, this meant walking through what were other peoples camp sites that was a bit awkward but no one seemed to mind. We would definitely stay here again we would just be sure to request a camp site away from the road.

It is a shame that a lodge/hotel situation in the middle of Yellowstone Park treats its guests so poorly. The agents at reservations were nice, but once we got to our rooms we realized that they were more like dormitory rooms with no amenities besides a refrigerator and a clock. There is no elevator, no tv, no air conditioning, and no WiFi. The website that the reservations are made on as part of the Park gives the consumer no idea that these amenities are not available. The rooms are in need of an upgrade badly as they look like the might have 30 years ago. For the price paid we were expecting much more. The Park needs to inspect Xanterra management. In the meantime , I'd look for a hotel just outside the park.

My son and I rode our bike across the country this spring. We stayed in 72 motel/hotels and the Grant Village Lodge was the most expensive and least inspiring motel/hotel/lodge we stayed in. I understand the desire to provide a more rustic experience thus no TVs, but if you are going to charge the prices that they do in Yellowstone either provide all the common amenities, TVs, internet, and continental breakfast, or provide a facility that looks like a lodge vs a ski dorm. I think the National Park should consider facilities more like their other sites in Yellowstone, or contracting with a company to provide services like you find just outside Yellowstone on the east side such as the Shoshone Lodge and Guest Ranch.

Unlike the other reviews, our room was nice and clean. We needed a handicap accessible room. Oh my goodness, it was not close enough for me nor my Aunt. We stayed two nights. Check-in was in the afternoon, but check out was early. Maybe guests should only get charged for the amount of hours we stay in a room and not the full 24 hours.

We stayed two days in Grant Village, in the end of May2014. We had a little hard time finding the right building(E) they all look alike. Our room was fine, very clean. They were not soundproofed very well, could hear people talking, next door. Did enjoy the Keurig coffee maker, that I wound up buying one, when I got home! For people that are so connected to TV & Internet & Cellphone, you will be in withdrawal. I can take it or leave it. My hubby missed TV, that was first thing, he noticed! I enjoyed looking for different views, and animals at Yellowstone! It was fun seeing snow still on ground in May. We did not enjoy our dining experience, however at Grant Village, (did separate review on it). I did a lot of driving, while we were there, so I had no problem sleeping. On our trip we stayed in 21 hotels in 30 days, yours was most expensive a night, but I guess that is to be expected. We did have some great pictures,and experiences there!

This room was AWFUL! I would have rather stayed in a tent. At least in a tent I would have gotten some quite! You can hear EVERYTHING that is happening in the hallway, rooms next to you, across from you and above you. We heard a cell phone ring in the room next to us and the conversation the man was having. The bed felt about the same as a sleeping bag on the ground and the blankets were really thin. Save your money and camp!

Absolutely the worst ever. Room was $285 a night an additional $24 for WiFi. No TV, two towels and housekeeping knocking on the door at 8:30 am. Smelled like Grandpas house.

Rooms and building were very clean. The rooms are small but functional. Our building was a little updated, no track lighting thankfully. Let's face it, this is a hotel for the masses that visit Yellowstone, nothing fancy, just a place to sleep, no one would or should be hanging out in the hotel with so much to see in the park. Floors and walls are thin but it didn't bother us, I guess we had good neighbors.

Decent lodging, not luxury, but in a good location. You get a clean room. The location is of course convenient. The price is high, as all things are in Yellowstone. If you need assistance, ask for an ADA room.
