What a cute public market! We took the water taxi to get to the market. I liked the variety of shops and food selection- there's something for everyone. We walked around and let our children explore to see what they wanted to eat. They picked the sausage hotdogs, french fries and for dessert donuts. The adults got wine/beer and fresh poke. We sat outside to listen to the live musician performing. The children danced and enjoyed the nice weather that day. It's also a very dog friendly place. I would want to go back but without the children, or wait until they're older. It's very family friend, but I like to leisurely window shop and that's not possible with young children. Next time I want to check out the sake place.

There was a wide array of food selections which I appreciated. Appreciated but it was hard to decide what to eat! Ahahah price wise I feel like a lot of the places were priced at good values. I also liked how many other non-food items there were to look at and buy. Made it feel like a cool flea market. I forgot what day we went on I think like Thursday???? It wasn't too busy which was good. Seating is PROBABALY the hardest thing cause it doesn't feel like there are many but my friends and I were able to get some! I'd see recommend going here for lunch. Also, we took a little boat to get there from Kitsilano and it was so cute ahha

Wow. Blown away at this marketplace in Vancouver, Canada. If you have ever been to the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, that is what I would compare the Granvile Island Public Market. One of the merchants in the marketplace is Lee's Donuts, which was made famous by Seth Rogan (the actor / comedian) when he visited their original location in the marketplace on a Netflix special. The donuts were average with the honey dip donut being above average, no reason to travel far to try them but if you're here why the hell not. There is everything here from homemade honey stations, macaroons (every flavor you can possibly think of), cheese, chocolate, beef jerky and charcuterie in a cup, you name it they got it. I have uploaded some pics to check out some of the great offerings they have here, and this is a must see if you are a foodie and in the Vancouver area. As always people SYOY!!!!

Great place to hang out for the day! There's eateries, vendors, and all sorts of different things to shop for. Prices are do-able!

You have to visit this market if you're visiting Vancouver. One of my favorite parts of my trip. The lobster spot had the best lobster I've ever had, and I'm not a huge fan of lobster. Everything we ate was delicious! The shops are adorable and so fun to explore. One of my favorites was the sake place and my partner had a sake tasting flight that he really liked. We also visited Granville brewery and my partner really enjoyed their beer selection. Could not recommend this enough!

I wanted to check out this market while I was in the area as I was hoping it was similar to Pikes Place in Seattle. The market itself was cool but the surrounding area is run down, and old. I was expecting a different vibe and to have lots of shopping options but it was the opposite case. The market was super super busy and I have to say I've never seen more gorgeous produce anywhere. It just wasn't for me and I didn't love the area surrounding this market.

My boyfriend and I's first time in Vancouver and we had to see what the hype of this place was all about. We were able to take the transit and easily found this beautiful and unique market. It is filled with endless food, drinks, and entertainment. Not only we were able to eat delicious food, we ate with a view! This market was fairly busy, nothing too crowded and overwhelming. We enjoyed Pot Pies and desserts by the port and live music nearby. I miss this place with my whole heart.

This is a really cool place to get your fruits, vegetables, meats , and seafood. They have so many different vendors from food , pastries, crafts , coffee, drinks and more. It can get very crowded with people walking through so sometimes you don't get to look at everything you want while trying to get through the crowd. They do have outside seating areas for people eating or just wanting to chill and look at the view of the water. You can find good prices here. Some vendors are priced higher than others. The service at every vendor I stopped at was very kind and willing to help right away. I would highly recommend checking this place out. There are also lots of shops and restaurants surrounding the public market

Wish I could visit here more often! There is no shortage of sights and smells. The foods offered are spectacular. Gorgeous flowers like I have seen nowhere else. Berries the size of acorns. Little shops galore there are lots of dogs walking around and families. There are various entertainment offerings the day I was there some guy was putting on a bit of a one man show that seemed to amuse the children and dads.

Really cute island to peruse and try local goods! Parking was a little difficult but after about 20 minutes we were able to snag a spot. If you come on a weekend when it's busy, I'd recommend not driving in. We didn't really have anything in particular we were looking for but there were lots of cute shops! Inside the public market we appreciated the local vendors, bakers, and more!

From the awesome & scenic aqua bus ride from The mainland, we arrived dockside to a much expanded and well developed market space that boasts everything from arts, entertainment, eateries, groceries and everything from apothecary to magical and all items in between. Haven't been "home" in years and what a treat to be back on watery soil. Treating my children to the wonderfully fresh produce, the people watching and the amazing views and vantage points that Granville Island has to offer. Definitely worth the trip. *you can drive into the marketplace- paid parking and limited parking.

Cute little indoor farmers market type place. Reminded me of Paris actually. Unfortunately, we ate before coming because all of the food looked delicious. Plenty to see and shop here, a cute little day spot.

Granville Island Market is a great place to start your visit to Vancouver and is definitely a must see - at least once! There are over 300 businesses operating here - it's packed full of gourmet food vendors, chocolate shops, bakeries, butchers, artisan boutiques, fresh fruit/veggie stands, and all sorts of other stuff. We always visit when we're in the area - the pot pies from A La Mode are our savory go-to and for dessert we love the pastries at Stuart's Bakery. We've tried out quite a few of the vendors over the years of our visits and those two always stand out for us. The market is very popular so it gets chaotic - especially when trying to find an empty lunch table. My only criticism is that the market needs to do a better job of cleaning off the tables but I know it's hard for everyone with staffing nowadays. The views from the seating areas are lovely! Expansive views of False Creek and the bridges and water taxis - a very nice place to refuel. Prices vary widely between all the businesses but are mostly what you'd expect. Parking is in paid lots in the area and I don't remember the exact price but it wasn't outrageous. Definitely worth visiting - and be sure to check out the awesome massive art installation outside - called The Giants - They're very nicely painted, huge cement silos!!

While visiting Vancouver for a weekend getaway, one of the first stops my husband and I made was the Granville Island Public market. We took the water taxi over from our hotel and enjoyed learning about the history of the market from the water taxi driver. The marketplace has a tremendous selection of local goods and artists. My husband and I loved perusing the aisles and sampling everything from artisanal chocolates and seasoned nuts, to fresh baked treats and cheeses. There is definitely something for everyone at this marketplace and I cannot recommend it enough.

Absolutely adorable on our rainy day! So many shops and the market is massive! I went home with a bunch of fresh fruits I'd never tried before! Looking forward to trying these fruits

Oh how we loved the Granville Island Public Market! Think of it as a smaller, scaled down Pike Place but just as wonderful. If you are a farmer's market guy or gal, this place is for you. Vendors galore serving up piping hot dishes, iced and hot beverages, deli meats and cheese, pure maple syrup, chocolates and so much more! The whole place was a feast for the eyes and belly and I did not know quite where to start when we first walked in. We tried beef jerky of different flavors: chorizo, regular and I can't remember what else. Picked up some pure maple syrup from a nice lady that also sold maple candy...so good! Puff pastry covered clam chowder soup...that was my favorite. Nanaimo bars which I have never tried before. Fresh fruit to balance all the not so healthy stuff. There are also little souvenir shops where we bought some to take home to the family. And the gorgeous waterfront view which we had full view of while eating lunch was absolutely breathtaking. I know people call this a tourist trap but I loved every minute of it! I cannot wait to return.

My family and I had a wonderful time coming here to this Public Market. It was cool taking a picture at the Granville Island Sign when we arrived after exiting the bus and walking to get here. Upon walking up, I remember my whole family visiting the Kids Market first. My three and one year old granddaughters really enjoyed this place. Next, as we walked more, we ended up walking around some other shops. Then we walked over to the Bread Affair for a pastry and drink. We also got to hear a live singer/guitar player in the area. After all of that, we walked around inside the actual GI Public Market. This is such a huge store. They have so many different items and mini stores inside. I remember seeing and being awed by the fruits and vegetables, Stuart's Quality Baked Goods, Tenderland Meats area, GI Tea Company, to name a few. There was so much more! Then, we ended up eating at the cool yellow colored restaurant called Tap & Barrel Bridges. It was a spectacular meal here. It was really nice seeing the harbor waters and the building background views on the other side. After walking around a little bit more, a couple of us had a nice Gelato from GI Gelato & Coffee Café! The grandbabies also shared a chocolate ice cream cone from Roger's Chocolates. Finally, after all we had done, we took an Aquabus ride from Granville Island back to one of the local parks across the other side of the harbor waters! The granddaughters really enjoyed this! It was such a great visit to Granville Island, it's Public Market, and all the surroundings. I would definitely go back here again and highly suggest you visit here! Hopefully I will make it back here again soon one day!!!

I visited Seattle pike place market before my trip to Granville island, I was hesitate about going there because I thought it was just another tourist market like Pike Place, man I was wrong, Granville market is way more organized, clean and with a nicer seafront view than Pike Place. There are many different types of stores selling lot of things, there is also a nice seating area nearby with great views of the city and sea. I will I will be there again in near future, such a great place to visit eat shop and have fun.

This is a great market! It was very packed and very busy when we were here but I think that adds to the experience! Literally any stand/shop/cafe is a good choice - I didn't smell or see one thing that I didn't want to eat Don't be afraid of long lines, the wait time is short, and the prices were fair too. If I lived in Vancouver I would want to grocery shop here! So many fresh dukes it's and veggies as well as wholesale items. Unfortunately, we only had a few hours on Granville Island, but we could easily spend the whole day here!

This is a must-visit place when you visit Vancouver. Yeah it's a bit of a tourist trap and it gets super busy on the weekends, but there's something for everyone. Fruit stands remind me of Pike Place Market in Seattle, and there's all kinds of bakeries and butchers. Outside of the market place there are restaurants, art galleries, ice cream stands, toy stores, pet treats, distilleries, and kid play areas. Recommend you park away from the market area where there are too many pedestrians. Very easy to walk the entire island.

Landed in Vancouver. Hangry for food we went to Granville island based on a friends recommendation. If you're coming from the US don't come to the public market for the food, at best it has mall quality food. So sad we spent our stomach space on this. At least I got something healthy at an acceptable price, a salmon salad roll with kale apple juice. My boyfriend's noodles tasted like greasy rubber. If you have the time don't come here to eat, go to a restaurant!!

Great public market for those visiting Vancouver. Pros - wide selection of fresh fruits, cheese, meats, pickles, and other goodies. They have many hot food options and the best place was the pot pie stand where they have several options of delicious pies. We grabbed their salmon and chicken pot pie and some poutine and ate by the water. Absolutely beautiful. Cons - wished they were open later! Definitely check this place out if you are in Vancouver. Great place to spend the day eating and getting fresh snacks

Great atmosphere and wonderful shops. The market stalls have wonderful treats and beautiful fruit & veggies. Even on a crowded rainy day it was enjoyable. Stall vendors were very helpful to an out of town visitor.

Granville Island Public Market is a must for first time visitors to Vancouver. It's touristy, very busy/crowded depending on the time of day, and some items are overpriced, but it's still a good experience. The public market is indoor and has many vendors selling groceries, seafood, snacks, sweets, baked goods, and hot foods/meals. Plenty of indoor and surrounding outdoor seating as well. You only really need 2 hours or less to explore the Public Market. To get here from downtown Vancouver, either the Aquabus ferry or False Creek ferry are your best options. Although the Public Market is probably Granville Island's main tourist attraction, there's also the Net Loft and Artisan District showcasing artwork, crafts, books, and jewelry. Definitely worth a look while you're on Granville Island!

We came over to Granville Island Public Market via Aquabus on a Wednesday at around 10 AM. It wasn't crowded yet because I think it's a more popular lunch destination, since that's what most of the food spots sell. But everything was open already. Aside from food, they sell things like smoked/cured salmon, produce, seafood, meat, and pantry items. A lot of the restaurants seem very touristy and over-priced so we skipped eating here, but I still love coming to these markets to see all of the vibrant colors from the local goods.

Amazing market of gorgeous teats both shiney and delicious. The fruit displays are a work of art and the bakeries incredible Fantastic art and jewellery in a beautiful location

I am not always one for "touristy" areas but this one was very special, particularly culinary nerds like me. The variety of local vendors here is incredible and the quality is absolutely impeccable. So many items to explore (from produce to fresh pasta to baked goods to fresh made pasta to meat and meat products and of course, an entire section for ready made foods) it's almost overwhelming. Fair prices too!

Visited this market yesterday through a city tour. There are so many restaurants, booths, and shops to explore! Fresh fruits and veggies, meat, seafood, fresh pasta, bakeries...I wish I live close by to purchase these items. If you have been to Pike Place Market in Seattle, Granville is similar but much bigger, cleaner, and better organized. I am not sure how much is parking, since I came with a tour. But I am sure it's all worth it. Highly recommend!

We uber to Granville Island Public Market because it seems like it's a tourist place. Lots of shops and food choices in the Granville Island Public Market. However, i think everything is overpricing. We tried the mararons which was okayed. We also bought a bar of chocolate for $20! (the price was not mark anywhere) I would like imagine a bar of chocolate costs $20! well lesson learnt. We also browse around different shops but things are way too expensive such like maple syrup, t-shirt, etc. I think it's good to visit but we didn't stay long.

Fun place to visit, lots of options to eat and shop at. It does seem to get quite busy and it would be nice to sit outside on a day where it's not raining.

Had a great time a Granville public market. I got to experience meats, cheeses and a plethora of other delicacies that I had never tasted before. There were international foods, delis, pizza, ice cream, donuts and everything in between. Make sure to come hungry because you will want to taste everything. It can get extremely packed so be prepared for the crowd. Many items can also be shipped which is a plus so you can enjoy them when you get home.

Granville Island is a must come when you are in Vancouver. You can either drive here or take the mini boat to come here which we did and the boys loved it. It can be very crowded depends on what time you come here but they have everything here. From foods to arts and craft you can easily spend a couple hours here easily

Why 3 stars? Because the market is something to see as a tourist, but I wouldn't need to go back again. --- --- --- In researching Vancouver, everything I read said that I absolutely had to go to Granville Island Market. But when checking out the Yelp reviews for all of the vendors within the market, there weren't many with really great ratings. And once we arrived, these were several vendors that *looked* amazing, but then we'd open up their Yelp page and be underwhelmed. I think this is an issue that happens at a lot of these large public markets/food halls. They tend to be quantity over quality. Something else to point out is that we visited on a Wednesday afternoon in late May - before summer touristy season was really in full swing. Yet, it was still very difficult to walk around in here because it was so crowded + the aisles were very narrow. I can only imagine how wild it must be in here on a weekend in July. I'm sure these are some really great vendors in here, but I wasn't able to find anything that made me feel like I'd need to come back during a future visit to Vancouver.

Wow!! What an amazing place! My family and I visited Vancouver for a few days and we visited Granville Island where we found the market. We spent hours inside! The variety of fresh fruit and food was exceptional and delicious!! We found ourselves wanting more each day returning to try different foods. We returned for three days straight. The market is a very popular and busy place. We got there early each day to try avoid the huge crowds. Despite the crowds the customer service was excellent and the people were friendly. I highly recommend! If I ever return to Vancouver I will definitely return to the market.

if you're visiting vancouver, bc for the first time granville market is an exciting place to go. right on the water with seating and endless food choices. seems like some people enjoy taking the seabus. we walked around to see all of our food choices and tried to choose local vendors. Hobbs pickles, clam chowder, scone, bagel sandwich, were part of our food choices that day. wish we had more stomach space. we found parking in one of the structures, it was a bit smaller so may want to avoid taking big cars. service was friendly and straight forward.

We were looking for some lunch and to check out Vancouver and this checked both boxes. The island is definitely its own area and not only does it have a market with tons of booths offering something for everyone, but it also has it's own set of trails and a kids store with small climbing structure. Parking is pay and can get crowded, but there is high turnover so you will get a spot. I love the other shopping available here as well. It is a great place for souvenirs becuse they have a strict requirement that the vendors are BC residents and the products are orignal and made locally. The views of downtown are great from here and you can take the aquabus to get here. It is a great place to shop, eat or, just hang out!

I love markets and artisanal food products. Getting off the pier the smells emanating from the market took over my olfactory senses even though I'm still making my way off the ferry! Good sign of things to come. Produce was bountiful, cheese aplenty and samples galore. Yes to buying the smoked salmon products (candied and peppery), and jerky at the fish monger's. There are also food stalls within the market and plenty of seating outside, serving everything from local BC dishes, to Mexican, Greek and everything in between. Apart from the food stalls, full service dine in restaurants scatter the peripheries of the market.

This place is huge and has everything you would expect in a public market and more. The indoor market has fresh produce; fruits, vegetables and nuts. There are shops that carry sauces, spices, oils and dressings for cooking. There are several spots to purchase meats and seafood. Not to mention all the sweet goodies like candies, treats and sweets. Outside there are several restaurants, shops, a couple of art studios and novelties stores. We stopped a couple of times to check out some local street performers. Reasonably priced mostly. We left with several bags and full belly's

Another "farmers market" of sorts. These guys also don't know how to plow even their backyard. But they do know how to price their produce and (mostly) processed produce for the tourists. I guess it's a bit like Faneuil Hall / Quincy mkt in Boston or the public market in Balto, except the stuff sold, good as it is, seems real pricey. But then that's been my problem all along in BC. Yeah the currency is inflated worse than the dollar but even discounting it 25% prices are ridiculous.

Three words: fun, bustling, and delicious! Granville Island Public Market has something for everyone willing to brave the crowds. From delicious coffee and fresh seafood to rare cheeses and fresh produce, the variety of food stands is impressive. Like all of my favorite markets, this one offers beautiful cut flowers, unique jewelry, wonderful skin care products, hats, scarves, and a variety of chocolates, including the best 95% chocolate I've ever tasted. Cons: parking is limited, and it's a popular place to visit year-round. Finding seating for dining can be a Mission Impossible. Despite these minor inconveniences, the vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings make Granville Island Public Market a must-visit! Hopefully one can remember why you came here during a weekend or holiday: to enjoy yourself and loved ones. May that be true for you. ---

Getting to Granville Island is a bit of nightmare and parking can be tricky, but totally worth the visit. Tons of little shops to stroll and the market is overwhelming! So many options! Go hungry and eat your way through!

This market is EV-ER-Y-THANG!!!! I have a soft spot in my heart for big ol' city public markets and Granville Island Public Market completely satisfied all of my public market cravings. Y'all... just come here! Get here! Shop here! Eat here! Just.... Be HERE! It's such an awesome market and huge! So many options that you'll have to make your way around at least twice before you dive head first into whatever you see. Get prepared to grab as many baked goods as your little heart desires! Every baked good station caught my heart and it was hard to resist not grabbing something from every stop. There are all kinds of delicious breads, pastries, cakes, you name it babyyy! Of course you've got your fresh meats and produce sections. There are healthy options for those who are trying to avoid the carbs and high calories. I enjoyed a lovely fresh juice while I was there. Also, some of the best friggin' nuts that I've ever tasted with all kinds of amazing flavors! So delish! It's a popular spot so expect lots of people. There's a decent amount of parking but I'd suggest public transit if you can. I actually walked from Robson St in Vancouver and it was a stunning walk, but long. They do have indoor seating but clearly not enough. You'll have a better chance of finding a place to sit outside. What's nice about eating outdoors is that they often have live music on the back patio which has gorgeous city views. Be careful though because the seagulls are treacherous. Protect your food because they'll swoop down and take it if you aren't paying attention. You could definitely spend a day here and walk down the streets near the market to visit some other local vendors. It's really a fun time! When in Vancouver, a trip to Granville Island Public Market should def be at the top of your list.

One of those place you should check out. This market place has lots of shops, vendors, snacks, and food in which you can explore around. Of course you can buy from them too if you want. You get to see the view of the bridge, the ocean, and tall building. You get to see some live music here to. Just be careful if you want to eat outside because this place has lots of seagulls who wants to steal your food. Anyways, plenty to see here if you do visit here

Just when you've about finished wandering one lengthy hall of fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, and drinks, you find there are 2 more such buildings, plus clusters of shops selling all kinds of non-edibles. If you're in or anywhere near Vancouver, you must stop by here, but not on a summertime Saturday, like everyone else does. I had a much better time shopping and eating here on the following Tuesday. Don't drive here, ever, especially on said summertime Saturdays. Vancouver's frequent, quick, and astonishingly clean city bus service can get you a few blocks away. Alternatives include the tiny ferryboats or the bikeshares, although some may prefer the electric-assist variety for getting over the massive bridge that straddles the island.

This market is a foodie's dream. It is quite small, so exploring the whole thing is very easy to do. I really appreciate how there is some public indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating available, as I find that this is often an issue at markets. I tried so many different foods with my friend. Some were not great or not worth the price, but others were excellent. I recommend Lee's Donuts and Terra Breads.

Granville Island is a small walkable island located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. If you are familiar with Pikes Place, Grand Central Market, International Market Honolulu then you know what I'm talkin about. If you are tourist like ourselves, don't drive there just catch an Uber or Lyft but If you plan to drive, here is some parking info - Parking is free before 11 am and after 6 pm. Pay parking in effect 11 am - 6 pm daily, $3/hour on weekdays and $4/hour on weekends and statutory holidays. Plan to spend most of the day here, you can get some fresh fruit, eat delicious fish and chips, pizza, doughnuts, pot pies, buy bread, bagels, souvenirs, toys and even purchase art. If you head over to their website, you can actually plan your day. The day we visited we played by ear, heading to the Vandusen Botanical Garden first then late lunch at Tonys, dessert at Lee's and happy hour at Vancouver Fish Company (all reviews for these places should be up!) and in between we souvenir shopped, bought a book and looked at art!

granville island is our version of pike place market. i love the vibe--there's so much to see, and it overlooks downtown vancouver. it's fun to take the aquabus from downtown across the water, enjoying a quick scenic ride before arriving at this bustling marketplace. once there, you can line up for lee's donuts, check out the fresh seafood, visit the water park playground and kids market, browse stores selling toys and children's clothing. you can even charter a boat here. the local produce stands are abundant with vibrant fruits and vegetables, often stacked in neat meticulous arrangements. the food court offers a variety of delicious options, from gourmet meals to quick bites, reflecting the diverse culinary culture of vancouver. artisan vendors set up shop daily, showcasing unique handmade goods that make perfect souvenirs or gifts. 'the island' is also home to numerous art galleries, boutiques, and specialty shops, each offering something special and distinct. this is my go-to spot for taking out-of-town guests. there's so much to see and taste--it's a sensory overload in the best possible way. street performers add to the lively atmosphere, whether it's a busker singing classic french ballads while strumming a guitar or a daring, death defying juggling act that leaves you holding your breath. take a moment to marvel at the way proud grocers meticulously stack their berries, creating displays that are almost too beautiful to disturb. it's all about supporting local businesses and enjoying the vibrant community spirit that makes granville island special. from sampling la bise caneles, hobbs pickles, and the lemon square, to picking up an almond croissant, and enjoying a chai from the granville island tea company, every visit is a new adventure. it's a place where you can truly immerse yourself in vancouver's culinary scene by shopping and eating local.
