Bold contemporary art in a grand Venetian palace Palazzo Grassi offers a striking contrast — cutting-edge contemporary art inside a classic Venetian palace. The building itself is stunning, with beautifully restored interiors and dramatic views over the Grand Canal. The exhibitions are always bold, thought-provoking, and often surreal — not your usual museum fare. If you’re into modern art, this place is a must. It’s spacious, well-curated, and never overcrowded. A perfect stop for a cultural reset amid the city’s Renaissance splendour. Make sure to check what’s on — the shows change, and they’re often unforgettable.

We visited the extensive Tatiana Trouvé exhibition yesterday. This is a fantastic and playful exhibition of works that plays with the scale. architecture and grandeur of the Palazzo asking poignant questions of materials and associated values. With such a comprehensive exhibition we could have stayed all day and not fully digested everything. Kids enjoyed the exhibition too and there was a very well considered engagement pack provided for them.

My wife and I had visited Palazzo Grassi twice before, and were looking forward to the Tatiana Trouve exhibition. Unfortunately the security guards ruined our visit. The day we visited was very quiet…perfect for viewing art. Upon entering the first gallery, a security guard appeared and stared at us…and I mean stared!!! Every time we moved to a new gallery space, the guard and her squeaky shoes followed…and stared at us. This quickly became uncomfortable and extremely annoying. We proceeded to the second floor and another guard started the same treatment. I asked her why she was stalking us, and she went into a verbal tirade repeating over and over that she was just doing job. We will never return to this institution!!! The next day we went to the Grassi’s sister museum, Punta della Dogna, and everything there was perfect!

The Pallazzo is worthy of its name. One of the most beautiful exhibition locations I've ever been to. If you look closely, you can see what it must have looked like in the past. The exhibition was also set up very nicely and the rooms were accordingly not overcrowded. In addition, there was accessibility (ramps and elevator) and lockers were provided without money. The staff was very understanding and accommodating. Restrooms were clean and accessible, and there is an elevator in the building.

I have just visited the latest exhibition at the Palazzo Grassi - Chronorama: Photographic Treasures of the 20th century. The exhibition consists of hundreds of black and white photographs from the early 1900s to about the 1970s. Whilst I found many of the photographs interesting, especially those of models (so very different from fashion shots today) and building, sometimes I felt underwhelmed. The building is refined, the staff not so much.

Great experience overall, although I wish they'd included a bit more of Julie Mahretu's earlier works. Some of the other artist's weren't arranged in that clever of a way, as they blocked viewing angles on some of Julie's larger pieces (mainly those meant yo be viewed from across the hall). The movie on Julie's career was an excellent opener. There are elevators on site, and apart from the main doors, it is wheelchair accessible.

The exhibit “Julie Mehretu. Ensemble,” on view at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, charts 25 years of the artist’s career and is the largest presentation of her work in Europe to date. Her works will appear alongside those of her artist friends, including Nairy Baghramian.Credit...Palazzo Grassi, Pinault Collection; Marco Cappelletti.

A nice art museum funded by LVMH so you know the quality. There’s this huge “zen” looking mosaic the entrance hall, simply stunning. Their exhibition is well curated and use its space very well to exhibit. 20Eur entrance also gets you into another museum that is funded by Prada foundation so yes it’s worth your €€
