We would definitely stay at this hotel again. The location is perfect within walking distance of most Edinburgh sites and shopping. Having the castle view from our room, made it even more special. The reception desk was efficient, welcoming and helpful. It was nice to have access to either still or sparkling water on our floor to fill our water bottles. It was a nice touch to have a welcome message upon arrival.

Fantastic Rooms, immaculate and feature rich. TV, integrated speaker system that connects to your phone, lovely decor and a brilliant shower. Staff were really friendly and happy to help, they really added to the experience in even only my brief interactions with them. This place also seems to attract very friendly guests. I got a free upgrade on arrival, to a room much bigger than I needed, and they held my bag until check in time at 3pm with a tag and ticket system so it doesnt get lost/mishandled. Location is absolutely perfect, everything in Edinburgh that you might want to see is in walking distance from here. Its also situated in a very beautiful part of Edinburgh. The only downside is the parking. On the website they recommend the Castle Terrace NCP car park. This is an absolute rip-off car park and definitely do not go there. If you have a small car and are a confident driver, prebook the apcoa Spittal Street parking, its about a 10 min walk (same as NCP) and is 12.50 per 24hrs as opposed to NCPs 36! For larger cars find the Princes Exchange car park, its 18.50 for 24hrs no pre-book required and a 15 min walk. A much more comfortable car park to get in/out of with less hassle. Food and Drink is provided by an attached pub, but is run independently. Decent food for breakfast with fair offerings for the price, and very friendly staff as well.

We arrived in Edinburgh hours before check in and the front desk offered to hold on to our luggage until a room was available. She also pointed out some areas of interest nearby that we could explore until our check in time arrived. She was very polite and helpful. When we returned at the appropriate time, a room was available and ready. This is a great location for old town Edinburgh with pubs, restaurants and shops all around. A walking trip to the Royal Mile was easily accessible as well. Breakfast was very very good and the wait staff were very helpful and accommodating. Overall a great stay for our short time in Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for 7 days, broken up into 2 visits. We had rooms 201 and 205 the first time, 306 and 304 the second. The rooms are small, but very clean and modern, with maybe the best hairdryers in all of Europe! The mattress and pillows were super comfy and the towels were thick and big. The lift only goes to the first floor, so you will have stairs on floors 2 and 3. The staff is happy to help carry luggage though, and are very helpful with everything else. They have a wonderful little gadget to book a taxi for you, for example. ||The hotel is located right beside the very picturesque Victoria Street, and there are numerous restaurants very close by. It’s a great spot.

Hotel centrally located so perfect for getting about. Reception and hospitality staff helpful and friendly. Only let down was the room with mouldy carpet by very wet windows and a shower panel that didn’t keep the water in while showering so had to shower in certain positions to avoid flooding the floor.

Grassmarket hotel was situated in a very central location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable. The only thing that I felt let it down was no table on one side of the bed. Bathroom was very spacious and had a desk looking out onto the street. ||The bar next door was very spacious. Breakfast was good and included in the price of the room

We booked a superior castle view room to finish our time in Scotland. Was excellent location for everything we wanted to see and do. Staff were fabulous. We were very happy with our stay.

My cousin and I stayed for our last night of our trip to Scotland. What a great decision!! The hotel is close to so many options for food and drinks and not to mention the view!! We ended our night with a pint on the balcony enjoying the view of the castle and sounds of the city. I will definitely be recommending Apex Grassmarket Hotel to anyone I know traveling to Edinburgh.
