Google
Not only the most fresh and tasty oysters, but also the best customer service! Came down with my boyfriend because ive been craving oysters for months, and the staff walked us through the to-go process for shucked oysters and made sure its what we wanted. They packed, shucked, and cleaned everything with care. We got 18 oysters and the staff gave us lemons and house sauce, which i highly recommend! Definitely the nicest workers ive encountered so far, and you can tell they care about the customers. I will be returning when I come back down to Morro Bay!

Google
I tried Morro Bay grass oysters from a different restaurant and they were really good so I had to pick up a dozen to take home. Found this place. One dozen unshucked for $20 only! These local oysters are creamy, semi sweet with a tad bit of brine. Very plump too. Perfect mix. I should have bought two dozen.

Google
Freshest.. cleanest ...the most sweetest oysters you will ever find in Morro Bay. Had a dozen fresh oysters, medium size and paired it with their green mignonette sauce. Then 3 baked..yumm and lastly a must try oyster shooter w small chuncks of cucumber, rimmed with tajin.

This was such a fun and unique experience! It’s not everyday that one can have a private oyster shucking tour! Margot was AMAZING! Adorable, engaging, knowledge, professional and just a pure delight. Thanks for making a first time experience for me so much fun! I corresponded with Diane for weeks prior to our vacation. She was a true gem!! Very responsive, kind, informative and professional. Thank you for being willing to accommodate us and to be willing to schedule a private tour experience to you. I will always think of Diane and Margot when I enjoy oysters! Cheers! 😊

Google
Grassy Bar Oyster Company is one of those Morro Bay gems that makes you appreciate how good local, sustainable food can be. The location is right next to the water, it’s the perfect spot to bring a date or friends. If you’re in Morro Bay and want oysters that are fresh and hella tasty, while supporting a business that prioritizes the environment, this is your spot!

Google
10/10 Oysters. So FRESH! Grassy Bar Oyster Co is a must stop at Morro Bay. Super friendly people serving oysters. Thank you Nathan for making my toddler’s first oyster experience a positive one.

Shem I.

Google
Got a dozen to go. They only had smallies left, but that’s what I prefer. All of them were fresh and delicious. Perfect brine flavor. The folks helping out were real kind and helpful as well. You could say they weren’t shucking around!

Sarah F.

Google
YOU NEED THEM FOR YOUR WEDDING/SPECIAL EVENT!!! Grassy Bar Oyster Co. was literally the hit of my wedding! They live shucked oysters for my wedding this past weekend, and my guests could not stop raving about them! They were one of the most affordable vendors we booked and SO worth it 10X over! They even participated in our photo booth and got us matching shirts! I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you for making our day so special!!!

Yelp
Their oysters are really fresh and priced right, we stopped by on our way home walked around Morro bay ang look around. I found them here in yelp somi figured , i should try them. I saw 4-5 fresh seafood market and the prices almost the same. The receptionists were both nice and helpful. I bought 2 dozens of the pacific oysters. Im not sure if i should say this but she gave me some extras( thank you!) Our drive was 4 hours long ( We have a small cooler). she packed it with ice and when i got home, the ice are still good. Blanched some of it and keep some in the fridge. The guy there told me it can stay fresh in the fridge for 3 days. It's a small stall by the bay, Clean and you can also order and eat by the bay.

Yelp
took myself on my first adventure as a newly single woman, I knew I needed to have oysters so, a friend and I drove up from Fresno to morro bay! Weather was beautiful, and we came as soon as they opened. Hours on Sunday are 12-5. I ordered for myself, a dozen oysters and Joe's oyster shooter(non alcoholic) but I could imagine with a tequila shooter paired with it, it'd be amazing. The fresh oysters were superb. My friend had never had oysters, and she had the baked ones first (delicious) and I made her try one of my raw oysters! Safe to say I've made a fan. Eager and itching to return for more fresh oysters

Yelp
We've had so many oysters all over Morro Bay and this spot is truly the best ones around. They have small, medium and large sizes. They have a house sauce with lime, chili and cilantro that is just amazing. It's a dozen for $20. You can pay $10 extra to have them open for you. Some of the other places have oysters from the pacific or Mexico. Grassy Bar is completely local and the oysters are from Morro Bay. It's a small little oyster bar hidden under Morro grill. Great option to feed the kid since she doesn't eat oysters. There is only outdoor seating right on the water with view of Morro Rock. Order your oysters and bring your favorite bottle of wine or your own sauce, then enjoy.

Yelp
Interestingly enough, I found this place on TikTok. We were in the area for a one night stay in Pismo and drove over to the Morro Bay area. This is a great little seaside village. I guess with restaurants and shops. Parking lot available as well as street parking. Incredible view of Morro rock. I really don't know what it's called. The two guys that were at the location. Today were very helpful and friendly. All the oysters were shocked to order. We took three smalls and three mediums. Great amount of salinity and sweetness. Everything tasted fresh. We bought a drink as well. I don't believe they sell any other food besides, maybe a sweet treat, beer, wine, soda, water, and the oysters we dined outside overlooking the bay. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Best oysters I have ever tasted. Long story behind this find. I use to go to the Santa Barbara seafood market every Saturday and one of the vendors use to sell Grassy Bar Oysters-- well that ended for some reason and what a shame. They would sell out sometimes before I got there. So on my golf trip up to Sea Pines golf course I made it my absolute business to get myself some straight from the source. The guy at the counter was very helpful and told me about the whole operation. My next trip up, I want to go to the actual farm. I ordered a dozen to go and 6 ready to eat on the half shell. Sat outside over looking the harbor. Good times.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
The oysters are so fresh tasting and delicious. They are offered on the half shell, raw and unopened, or roasted. We chose roasted and on the half shell. You're given the option for the half shell between small, medium and large oysters (you can mix and match). That's pretty cool. The staff was welcoming. They don't have much of a selection of beer or wine, so I would suggest bringing your own. We sat right beside the water with a direct view of Morro Rock. Sea otters were putting on a playful show. There is also seating above the shop and dogs are welcomed on the patios. Great little spot!
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
Oysters at Grassy Bar are literally the best! It's tucked away below another restaurant, and the space inside to order is a little tight. But there are benches outside you can eat at and enjoy a view of Morro Rock. Ordering is pretty straightforward, but it can take a while to get your order if it's busy. But it's soo worth it. The baked oysters are perfectly flavored and crunch. The normal oysters are fresh, clean, and have the best flavor. I prefer them to the neighboring restaurants in the area. I've been here twice already, and will always come back when I'm in the area!
google avatar

Christy J.

Yelp
Amazing little gem best oysters ever they were so fresh and the oyster shot at $5 bucks yessss give me 10 ! They were so delicious fast friendly service can't wait to go back
google avatar

Erin W.

Yelp
These were the best oysters I've ever had. The mignonette was a jalapeño cilantro base that was outstanding. Cocktail sauce was on point. They have a wide selection of hot sauces. I went for the Cayucos hot sauce, which is a personal favorite. I tried one with nothing on it and it killed. These are the best oysters in town. Kahri and Grace (I hope I am getting their names right) were so warm and friendly.
google avatar

Danielle N.

Yelp
We came here on Labor Day weekend and, as expected, it was busy. We ordered a dozen raw oysters and six baked oysters, and both were excellent. The baked oysters were garlicky and packed with flavor in every bite, while the raw oysters were so fresh and delicious--I instantly wished I had ordered more! Since we arrived in the afternoon, only smaller oysters were left, so next time I'll definitely come earlier in the day. Overall, such a great experience and I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Purposely went to this location on my way over to Cambria to have a little oyster lunch. Oysters were absolutely amazing and fresh. The service was great and the ambience I mean, just look at the view in my photograph. An absolute must visit if you love oysters
google avatar

Jocelyn H.

Yelp
An amazing oyster experience! We got a dozen, then ordered another dozen before we even finished. Vinegarettes and cocktail sauce were the perfect complement to deliciously fresh, meaty, clean oysters. We got all small ones at first, and assorted sizes for the second round, all of them were absolutely incredible. Prices were the same for both. Run up to get some fries from morro grill upstairs for the perfect pairing. Sit on the pier right outside and enjoy the view of morro rock! Be sure to check the business hours though since they're not open daily!
google avatar

Regina R.

Yelp
As a small hole-in-the-wall establishment on the Embarcadero that only serves oysters, this place sure delivered! This was my first time trying oysters, and the bar has been set high thanks to this place! The staff was quite friendly and served the large party that I came with in a timely fashion. I got 1/2 dozen of raw oysters and 1/2 of the baked oysters, as I have had a few people rave about the baked ones. The raw oysters came freshly shucked over ice with a lemon, lime, ketchup, and a mignonette with juiced jalapeño and cilantro, which complimented the fresh ocean taste absolutely well. I liked that they gave wooden spoons to help scoop the oyster meat as well. If you're not a fan of the salty ocean taste that oysters usually have, I would still recommend trying out their baked oysters, which have a crispy Parmesan bread crumb topping. The topping manages to mask the briny, salty flavor quite well, but still gives you the same oyster tasting experience. Be careful once you first get them, as the oyster shell can be pretty hot on the fingers. They do sell out of oysters, so make sure to get there early! This place singlehandedly made me into an oyster person, and I can't wait to come back another time for the freshest oysters on the central coast.
google avatar

Frances M.

Yelp
Right on the harbor on the Embarcadero, this place serves the freshest Morro Bay oysters to customers at a very reasonable price. Whenever I feel the slightest sense of a cold coming on, I head to a place that serves oysters -- and it doesn't get any fresher than this little place. There's no indoor seating, but a few patio tables are available to the public nearby. You order at the counter where the servers are always nice, friendly, and helpful. And you can watch them shuck the oysters right in front of you. The fresh oysters can be served on ice on a paper try with a small plastic container of tomato hot-sauce and horseradish. They also have a mignonette that appears to be like a pesto. Highly recommend this place for locals and tourists, alike!
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
The best oysters. Several sizes. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Get them raw or Rockefeller style.
google avatar

Tepi B.

Yelp
This place is bomb! Amazing oysters, friendly service, but gets busy on holiday weekends. Just a heads up you have to go buy beer next-door at the bait shop around the corner.
google avatar

Kevin V.

Yelp
The oysters tasted amazing with intensely clean flavors and zero grit. This is a small shop with outdoor seating along the bay where they can serve you personally. Our only gripe was that our plate took around 30mins to be delivered which isn't crazy but longer than we were told (around 20mins).

Kristen L.

Yelp
Amazing oysters! Kari (Khari?) was fantastic! He was working hard shucking oysters right in front of us. He was fun, kind, polite, and enhanced our experience! Highly recommend this place in Morro Bay.
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
The shellfish - I got both clams and oysters - were so fresh! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's great to talk to them and learn more about the oysters from them. This is going to be my must stop in my future trips to Morro bay!
google avatar

Fred L.

Yelp
Thanks Grassy Bar! Ordered a dozen small oysters to go and as you can see got an extra 2 oysters. If you know how to shuck, these are easy to shuck and taste great! All for $20 to enjoy at home!
google avatar

Raquel M.

Yelp
The service here is very informative and friendly. I learned a lot about the type of oysters we ordered. We shucked the oyster ourselves at the picnic tables in front of Grassy Bar Oyster Company. What and experience and beautiful View! The oysters are wonderful and I look forward to coming back.
google avatar

Kavita B.

Yelp
These oysters were the most delicious and freshest I've ever had. We opted to shuck a dozen ourselves for $20 (they sell shucking knives in store). Service was excellent. It was wonderful to enjoy our food while sitting at a patio table by the water. We will be back if we can!
google avatar

Tammy N.

Yelp
I love oysters so I knew I had to check this place out while I was in the area! We ordered 3 baked oysters ($12) and 12 unshucked oysters ($20). I thought the prices were fair for the quality and freshness of the oysters. One of the best things about this place is the view. It doesn't get any better than shucking oysters with a view of Morro rock and some sea otters! The workers were also nice and efficient. I was concerned about parking since beach parking lots tend to be packed, but there were tons of spots when we came on a Sunday evening. I would 10/10 come back when I'm in the area.
google avatar

Bobby H.

Yelp
Staying here for a month, so we are out and about trying all the restaurants nearby and because the Grassy Bar is new to us, we dropped in. So good, oysters freshly shucked and delicious, raised/harvested here in Morro Bay. They told us we could sit and enjoy them upstairs at the Morro Grill and sure enough, they told us we could as long as we ordered something on their menu. Grassy crew brought the oysters up, as promised and they were delicious, going there again with guests!

Peter E.

Yelp
Great little spot that sells oysters and clams only. Oysters were the best I've ever had and I've had oysters dozens of times all over for the world. This is coming from someone who lived in New England.

Yelp
My wife's family celebrated her 50th Birthday this past December by planning a 4 day weekend in Morro Bay. While researching places to visit, I read about this oyster farm and wanted to stop by here during our visit. The only problem, there were many family member who were not fans of the oyster be it raw or cooked in any form. So on Sunday morning, the "guys" all agreed to join me to check out the oysters while our spouses all went shopping and beer tasting in DT Morro Bay. We started off with some freshly shucked oysters as well as their baked oysters. Since we had some oyster neophytes in our group, I wanted them to try both and learn what a really freshly shucked oyster is really like compared to those sitting already shucked at a buffet. Our freshly shucked oysters was ready in just few minutes. They came plated with care with small portion cups of their housemade mignonette nestled between those lovely oysters. I added some of the mignonette onto my first Grassy Bar Oyster.......Holy Crap, that was a taste combination made in Heaven! I normally add a few drops of Tabasco and a squeeze of lemon, but that sauce was so satisfying and complimented the oyster well. The oyster itself was plump, briny, juicy, fresh and tasted of the sea in a very good way. These fresh raw oysters with the mignonette made those in our group who were reticent of eating raw oysters before were now fans of them. Our baked oysters took some time to be prepared and cooked. But when they arrived, we all dove right in, but be forewarned, those oyster shells are super heated to grab right away with your fingers. But once you can grab one safely, they were also very enjoyable. Our group like both styles of oysters, and soon everyone was taking turns buying rounds of both types of oysters. I could've sat out there all day just eating oysters, sipping some adult beverages, enjoying the views and being with family. I was saddened to see that many of the Morro Bay businesses we visited in December were impacted by those torrential storms the following January. I am really hoping every business recovers so we can stop by and visit on a regular basis!
google avatar

Caroline L.

Yelp
Freshest oysters I've ever had & that says a lot since I'm not an oyster fan. Get there early because when they sell out they are done. When we got there they had no more clams.

Michael U.

Yelp
Grassy Bar came recommended by a local food truck. It did not disappoint. Some of the freshest, best tasting oysters you will experience. We started with a 1/2 Dz raw and 1/2 Dz baked. The baked were well sized and quite tasty but the star of the show were the raw. Unbelievable - cold, briny, bright, crisp. So good we went back for a dozen. They were shucked perfectly. No stray shell or dirt in sight. The jalepeno 'mignonette' was a star accompaniment. I used it sparingly on a few - it could overpower the oysters. The staff were extremely pleasant and efficient in their micro-sized workspace. Perfection on a half-shell.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
Delicious and suuuper fresh oysters! If you loooove oysters, this is your jam. I've visited another oyster farm up in Tomales Bay before but these knock those out of the water. A fresh and briny taste, so fresh, and the service is amazing. You see the little tanks the baby oysters are growing in and you can tell there's a ton of quality and care in harvesting them. At $15 for a dozen unshucked, you can enjoy them with your hearts content. I brought some Japanese ponzu sauce from home to pair with them hehe. They provide the ice, lemons, cocktail sauce, their own mignonette, horseradish and assortments of bottled hot sauce. If you're not up to do your own shucking, don't worry as they have them shucked or charbroiled. My friends all loved them. I would come up from Santa Barbara to enjoy oysters here again + you get a amazing view to enjoy them! Also a ton of cute seals swim around the harbor!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
We found this hidden gem on our roadtrip and can't wait to go back. Delicious oysters!
google avatar

Tina P.

Yelp
They only serve oysters, so they HAVE to be good and boy did they NOT disappoint! Hands down the BEST baked oysters ever! They were baked to perfection. The oysters were nice and warm, so you were still able to taste the freshness of the oysters. Service was great and friendly. We tempted to make a return while we were visiting MB, but we'll be sure to do so when we visit the central coast.
google avatar

Rona F.

Yelp
I found out about this place on a Facebook group about Morro Bay that I'm on and I'm so glad becuase this place makes me ridiculously happy. The oysters are straight from the Bay which you go out and sit next to when you eat outside. They are salty and meaty (even the small ones which are the default size you get for raw shucked-on-site oysters) and scrumptious. You really don't need to put anything on them but the Grassy splash mignonette that you can get with them is a fabulous complement to the briny oysters. You can watch the sport fishing boats clean their catch and toss the spare bits to the hungry seagulls as you eat your oysters as the sun sparkles on the water and maybe a sea otter will grace you with their presence (one did, with baby on belly, when I ate there last) and Morro Rock stands sentry watching it all. The shuckers / cashier folks are also SUPER nice and chill. And the baked oysters are yummy too! Seriously this place is the absolute best.

Josh T.

Yelp
Incredible for one who loves fishing, the act of local dock to plate. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate and willing to talk about this wonderful farm that has become established here in Morro Bay! You can both see and taste the difference and taste the unique flavors of Morro in these fantastic Oysters. If you are a true seafood lover and want to taste what quality Morro has to offer then do not miss this gem. It's a shame most and I do mean MOST of the restaurants in Morro get their seafood not from the fantastic local fisherman and the local receivers but from Santa Rosa Seafood company........ there are only a few here that use real dock to table fresh fish. You need to go this wonderful local business
google avatar

Maudon N.

Yelp
Grassy Bar Oyster Co. has the best oysters I've ever tasted, both raw and baked. Fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable. I'd come again and again--highly recommend!

Rachel F.

Yelp
We came here wanting some delicious oysters and that's exactly what we got! The service was so nice, they asked us which toppings we wanted and let us know what their favorite combo was. The oysters were so fresh and tastes great with the green and cocktail sauce. Also the view was beautiful. The shop was really personal and had some interesting articles and books to read about oysters while we waited. I can't wait to come back 11/10 would recommend!
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Great oysters from a little hole in the wall right on the water Farmed nearby - very fresh. Tried 6 on the half shell and 6 baked, minus the butter/bacon sauce. All excellent.
google avatar

Codee C.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite spot around for oysters. The raw are the best and freshest oyster I have ever had and don't get me started on that green sauce they serve alongside. I'm seriously addicted. The baked are just as great, in all of their garlicky goodness. The last time we visited we tried the shooters and those were equally as good. You can't go wrong! The fact that they are always served with a smile is a bonus! Such a great little gem!
google avatar

Michaela S.

Yelp
Great oysters hot or cold absolutely delicious!!! The service is excellent!!! Highly recommend
google avatar

Alison W.

Yelp
Fresh and yummy oysters with the choice of different sizes and flavors. The smallest is the sweetest.
google avatar

Renee Z.

Yelp
Best mothershuckers in Morro Bay! At this writing, this review as being posted in October 2022. This seasons conditions in the bay must've been beyond perfect as these were the best oysters I have ever had in my mothershucking life. Great dockside harbor location. Friendly staff. Can't ask for more- Well, we did ask for more oysters!
google avatar

Gary C.

Yelp
I am craving for their raw oyster as I am typing this review at home after the trip.. I've always heard of Morro bay oysters. I've tried BBQ oyster at many Morro bay restaurant. Giovanni, Tognazzini's, etc. But this time we stumble upon this small shop and I almost just walk pass it until I notice an interesting board outside. Raw oyster! Sure why not. We purchased a dozen to try and it was just sooooo fresh, sweet, almost cruchy. We wanted some beer and the staff mentioned we can buy them at 2 store down (very interesting, it's inside the refrigerator at a boating supply store) In the end, we went again the next day to get another dozen.. hehe

Matt M.

Yelp
The oysters are so freaking delicious, small place but a lot of outside seating. The employees were very friendly, and knowledgeable about oysters. They give you a choice between the small, medium, and huge oysters, or you can mix and match. 100% amazing
google avatar

Lexi B.

Yelp
So yummy! me before oyster: :( me after oyster: :D Would highly recommend grassy bar oysters co! Everything they serve is so good and the employees are so kind! Everyone should try this! The employees knew all the oysters . They know so much. Maybe too much? Jk. They rock. Anyways. Def go here! Yay!
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
Overlooking the marina in Morro Bay is a small oyster business where you place your order, find a table outside ( there are only a few), then they bring your order out to you. The oysters were outstanding and the staff hustles. They do have seating upstairs but no chairs and there was a lot of seagull poop so not a good place to eat. I imagine cleaning it is an exercise in futility. Off the beaten path if you want to live like a local.
google avatar

Karrie L.

Yelp
Oysters so fresh! You can get your oysters fix right here. Service was fast and friendly. The baked oysters was cooked just right and served w small slices of bread. You can sit by a table right outside with the view of Morro rock.

Kay F.

Yelp
These are some of the best oysters I've tasted. I don't remember the last time I had oysters that came from off the coast of California. We had several freshly shucked and also baked. Lure's restaurant inSan Luis Obispo also had them on there menu. Will definitely goo back when we are up there.
google avatar

Ha N.

Yelp
Awesome place!!! My only sadness is that it only opens 4 days/wk as of June 2022. Order your oysters on half shelves, raw or baked, or order them whole (cheaper) and shuck them yourself! There's an upstair deck with tables/chairs for public use (without any purchasing), looking out to a fantastic view of Morro rock. Staff was super nice, bring our order to the deck. Oysters are super fresh and yummy. I downed a dozen so fast. Left very happy and satisfied. This is the place to be, chilling and downing oysters!
google avatar

Tara H.

Yelp
The service here is awesome, our shucker actually told us a bunch of really cool information about how these oysters are locally sourced and that there's even a boar you can take to see. There's a bunch of cool signage too that teaches you about the age of oysters and it's truly fascinating. On to the food it's bombbb my partner is a oyster freak shes had them all over the world and she said this place is now on her top 2. For me I know little about oysters except that these were extremely fresh and delicious. We had a really great experience and everyone was super cool. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
Went to Morro Bay and saw this cute oyster shop. The workers (owners?) were so so so nice and we got 2 dozen for $50! The sauces were good esp whatever the green one is. The oysters were super fresh, didn't have any sand or shell, nicely cleaned. They have an upstairs area with picnic tables that overlook the ocean. It was such a vibe. I would 100% come back!
