Graetzlhotel Karmelitermarkt (Vienna, Austria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Sure, in some ways, Vienna is among the most traditional of cities. But it’s often against a backdrop of entrenched conservatism that the most radical experiments take flight. Like its sister, the Graetzlhotel Belvedere, the Graetzlhotel Karmelitermarkt’s suites are made from disused storefronts, in this case near the Karmelitermarkt, an open-air market just to the northeast of Vienna’s city center. And like its sisters — there’s also the Meidlinger Markt — it’s a relatively low-maintenance, high-independence affair, an effort by the Urbanauts group to allow visitors to live, to the greatest possible extent, like Viennese locals." - Tablet Hotels

A cozy apartment in a very friendly and attractive neighbourhood. The arrival was smooth, keys easily accesible. The apartment itself was super clean, spacious and very tastefully furnished. We loved our stay here and would gladly come back! All in all a great stay!

We booked at grätzlhotel Karmelitermarkt for three nights in July 2024.,||After the reservation, we received a confirmation email where we were informed that we would be staying in a “street suite” but we never thought that the suite entrance was literally on the street adjacent to a bar / restaurant.||The suite’s entrance was a glass door, the pedestrians could see right through the room. The room had curtains that had to be closed all the time for privacy thus darkening the room. Also, there were no windows. ||At the time of our visit, construction work was ongoing so it was not quiet from the early hours in the morning.||The adjacent bar / restaurant had tables across our room so it was noisy all the time and especially at night. ||The room was separated from the bathroom area with a curtain, so no real privacy when taking a shower. ||The room itself was not very big, it was rather crowded for three people.||I think they should have informed us of the conditions we would be facing.

My experience at this so-called “hotel” was nothing short of infuriating. First, there’s no reception desk—a fact hidden from the booking section as if they’re actively trying to mislead guests. This meant I had nowhere to leave my bags upon arrival. Only after a long Uber ride, multiple unhelpful calls (including with the general manager), and standing outside in the cold did they finally inform me of this absurd setup. The level of incompetence and disregard for basic customer service is appalling. If I could, I’d rate this place negative stars. A refund doesn’t begin to cover the hassle and frustration they caused. Avoid this place at all costs.

The room is Nice. But! The adress of the hotel you get is not the good location? If you arrive before 15:00 no way to leave the luggages, there is no reception. So, you will take à second cab to the office and leave luggages there as you go around.|Oh, the office closes at 17:00...They were kind to send our luggages to the room( 10 minutes drive). The tv is Nice but dossn't work and nobkdy to help |If you want an hotel with no services this one is perfect.

These units are very unique, spacious, and clean and come with a miniature kitchenette. Next door to a nice restaurant and walkable to downtown. We visited in September when the temperature was 80F, and the room didn't cool down until late at night. There is a remote that looks like you can set the temperature, but it doesn't actually work. There is NO front desk, so check-in was very confusing (had to ask the restaurant to call someone to be let in) and replies to messages takes a few days. Website also states that there is free Wifi...but does NOT give you the name or password. When we finally received this info, the network was not even available. So would not recommend if needing to get work done, but if just for sleeping and visiting the city, perfect spot!

i loved my stay here. every apartment is different. exposed brick and cement floors with lush wool curtains and plush bedding and with your own door to the streets of vienna make this a unique, urban adventure. i coud have lived there! and marie, from the office was AWESOME. i thought i wanted a hotel so i could have a front desk, not needed. marie was accommodating and smart and so helpful. so you feel like you live in an artist loft, but you have friends when you need them. cant recommend enough.

Wonderfully personal accommodation, spacious and very clean and cozy. If you want to leave your luggage at the office before checking in, you should go to the main train station and not take the CAT train to Mitte.

The garden room is a large quite studio apartment which is a great base to explore this amazing neighborhood. The room is clean, with beautiful interiors, a kitchenette, large double bed and bathroom, both nicely separated from the “living room” by floor to ceiling curtains. Highly recommended.
