"The second property from hotel-meets-membership club Gravity Haus is an elevated adventure base camp for the work-hard, play-hard crowd that has outgrown van life or packing into a seasonal rental home. The hotel took over the former Vail Mountain Lodge in the heart of Vail Village; an enviable location year-round that puts skiers and boarders, hikers and mountain bikers steps from the mountain’s Golden Peak base area. You do not need to be a member to stay here, but members have access to the gym and co-working space as well as rate breaks on gear rentals, ski lockers, and the 20 guest rooms, which have a mountain vibe without falling into the predictable alpine tropes (think glossy landscape photographs against sage green walls instead of faux fur and antlers). The club component means that out-of-towners are always mingling with locals, and the unparalleled access to the slopes means that there’s always an interesting cross-section of guests. Especially come happy hour at the Slope Room, the hotel’s sexy bar-restaurant, where the late 20s to early 50s crowd is a mix of local ski bums, Denver techies working remotely, and vacationers all kicking back on the blue-velvet banquettes with old fashioneds and bottles of small-batch Oregon pinot while snacking on Korean fried chicken wings and charcuterie boards. Rooms from $209. —Jen Murphy" - CNT Editors

"Why book? Located in the heart of Vail Village, Gravity Haus Vail puts you steps from the mountain’s Golden Peak base area. An in-house coffee shop, stylish bar for après, and a massive gym and spa for recovery make it a dream stay for adventurers. A membership element means out-of-towners are always mingling with locals. Set the scene It’s happy hour, and Slope Room, the hotel’s sexy bar-restaurant, is buzzing to the soundtrack of The Weeknd and Post Malone. Skiers and snowboarders decked out in technical apparel from Arc'teryx and Mammut have just come off the mountain for craft cocktails, microbrews, and locally-made kombucha. The late 20s to early 50s crowd is a mix of local ski bums, Denver techies working remotely, and vacationers. Rococo crystal chandeliers and a Louis XV cast gypsum cement fireplace mantel are nods to Vail’s European history and add a Versailles-inspired elegance to the cabin-like wood elements of the space. An oversized black-and-white David Yarrow photograph of a bear ordering a drink at a bar anchors the space. You won’t find shotskis here. Groups kick back in blue-velvet banquettes sharing large-format old fashioneds and bottles of small-batch Oregon pinot while noshing on Korean fried chicken wings and charcuterie boards. The backstory This is the second property from hotel-membership club, Gravity Haus. The first property opened in Breckenridge in December 2019. You do not need to be a member to stay there, but members get discounts on room rates, gear and activities, ski lockers, and food and beverage as well as access to the gym and co-working spaces. Jim Deters, the founder of Galvanize, a coding school-co-working space concept, is the brains behind the brand and he’s brought on a smart team from travel brands including Inspirato, Freeskier magazine, and Under Canvas. The brand is also building a collection of partner hotels, such as the Gilded Iguana in Costa Rica and the Madeline, an Auberge Collection Resort, in Telluride, which will offer members perks/discounts. Vail Haus is located in the former Vail Mountain Lodge and includes an 18,000 square-foot gym where many local athletes train. The rooms Guest rooms have a boutique-y mountain feel without going overboard with the cheesy alpine-chic decor. Instead of faux fur throws and antlers, each room has a glossy landscape photograph of Vail hung from a basil-hued wall. Framed antique mirrors and custom leather headboards provide an urban touch. The hotel offers room configurations for families and groups of friends. The Switchback, for example, is a two-bed, two-bath suite with one king bed and a private bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunks and a twin sleeper chair. Food and drink Coffee snobs can rejoice; Gravity Haus owns the in-house coffee shop, Unravel Coffee, which roasts in small batches on a zero emissions Bellwether Roasters. Pop in for your caffeine fix and a housemade pastry on your way to the slopes. Health nerds will find every alternative milk option imaginable and super-food drinks like the Malabar latte, spiked with ginger, turmeric, black peppercorn, lemongrass, and licorice root. Slope Room is seriously committed to sourcing from local purveyors and no matter the meal, the menu offers both indulgent (elk bratwurst on a pretzel bun) and healthful options (the veggie-filled Gravity Bowl). The dinner menu marries the French bistro and Western steakhouse: the Colorado wagyu hot stone app is a crowd pleaser as is the lobster mac n’ cheese. Wine connoisseurs will be impressed with a 100-plus bottle list that includes cult labels like Château Lafite-Rothschild and small, indie producers like Scar of the Sea. Each room has a mini fridge stocked with local wines, beers, and snacks like elk jerky and Honey Stinger waffles. Instead of plastic coffee pods, rooms have Steeped coffee sachets, a nod to the brand’s sustainability efforts. The spa It would be hard to improve on the original Vail Mountain Lodge spa but Gravity Haus has, introducing new recovery-focused treatments. Non-guests can also book spa treatments and that gives them access to outdoor hot tubs, sauna, steamroom, and the solarium. Whether you’ve had a big day on the mountain or just flew in from the East Coast and are struggling to acclimate, the High Altitude Recovery treatment will revive you. The neighborhood/area Gravity Haus is in the heart of Vail Village, steps from the Golden Peak base area. Guests are walking distance to the restaurants and shops of the village. The Colorado Snowsports Museum is a five-minute walk from the hotel, tucked away at the top of the Vail Transportation Center. The museum is free and shares the fascinating history of the 10th Mountain Division (America’s elite mountain soldiers of WWII who trained in the area) and the evolution of skiing and snowboarding throughout the years. The service The staff feel like locals and happily share their deep knowledge of the best trails to hike, bike, and ski. Warm, fresh-from-the oven chocolate chip cookies are put out at happy hour in the lobby next to the local paper. Members have access to the Haus Quiver, an all-access pass to the latest demo equipment like splitboards and touring skis. For families It’s not unusual to see kids and pets (the hotel is very pet friendly) at après ski. Bunk rooms and condos are great options for families. Eco effort The company touts its sustainability efforts and they deliver on their promise. Beds feature Parachute synthetic-free linens, chemical-free Wink Beds mattresses and Newly Cross Super Soft throws made from 51 percent recycled cotton and 12 water bottles worth of plastic. Latex-free Gaiam yoga mats are in the rooms. Bottle filling water stations replace plastic water bottles and the coffee shop is sustainable and works directly with farmers in Ethiopia. Anything left to mention? The gym could double as a Red Bull training center with a turf field, Peloton bikes, and even a hyperbaric oxygen chamber for recovery. Classes range from yoga to circuit-focused strength. Remote workers will love the zoom rooms, which can be booked for work meetings. The brand owns Colorado Adventure Guides and guests can enquire about off-resort activities like rafting or backcountry snowboarding and members get discounts on activities." - Jen Murphy

This was the worst experience of a stay I've ever had. We had an experience with the front desk person named Taylor who couldn't be more rude if she tried. She was rude at every opportunity she had. We had two shoes in the tote bag they have in the rooms. I asked if they charged if we took them and she said yes but didn't know how much. I said no problem I'm leaving out our stuff at the lobby for a little bit and then when we get the car we could transfer everything in there. Taylor responded by saying "well you already have your shoes in the bag" indicating that wasn't allowed which is funny. I took the shoes out and left them with our bags and car seat. When we came back she brought half our stuff and had our shoes with the soles in the car seat on top of our jackets. When I said wow I didn't want to put them on my expensive jacket, instead of saying I'm sorry which would have been the end of it, she said "well I had to touch your shoes"!! Then continued to argue her point. This is in addition to our rooms water pressure in shower and sink being so slow that it took 3-4 minutes for my short hair to get wet. We were actually thinking of becoming members here but that will not happen nor will any of our family who also stay at least once a year there. If you enjoy being reprimanded by front desk people you should definitely stay here and ask for Taylor to help you.

The location is perfect! We booked the 1 room with king size bed facing the major vail village street. No A/c in the room so we had to open windows at night but in the morning it’s kinda noisy due to a group of people doing their exercises with the coach screaming at the top of her lungs at 6am. I recommend booking the ones in the slope side area. The front desk personnel are so nice and friendly. The place also offers the most amazing amenities underground, it’s HUGE! Of course with extra fees and also expect to pay $60.00 per day for parking. And, I recommend booking your reservation directly from the company website not the 3rd party because there will be an unexpected extra charges by the end of your stay.

Amazing location, friendly service, clean room, and our room was quiet. Also, we were very happy that the hotel is pet friendly and allowed dogs. The only thing to note is parking is not included. So if you are bringing a car, there is a parking structure across that street but there’s a fee for parking.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gravity Haus Vail! Taylor was an incredible help throughout our stay plus Gregory made our booking process a breeze. I highly recommend you stay here or at minimum come checkout all of their amenities. We will be back with larger groups and cannot wait!

My friends and I had an incredible experience staying at Gravity Haus Vail! This hotel is perfectly located just steps from Gondola One, making it the ideal spot for easy access to skiing and everything Vail has to offer. The rooms are luxurious and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of amenities to make you feel right at home. The gym is absolutely top-notch, offering a range of workout classes and yoga classes that were a perfect way to start the morning or unwind after a day on the slopes. The community vibe at Gravity Haus is also a big plus—whether you’re taking a fitness class, enjoying a meal at Slope Room, or connecting with fellow travelers, it’s a great place to feel energized and relaxed at the same time. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a blend of adventure, relaxation, and excellent service!

My partner and I stayed at Gravity Haus Vail for our elopement weekend and were excited to book the Spa & Save rate, specifically because it advertised massages as included. This was supposed to be a special, meaningful, and budget-conscious trip — a little bit of luxury during a big life moment. Unfortunately, the experience left us deeply disappointed. At checkout, we were charged nearly $300 for massages we believed were included in our rate. I explained that this was the main reason we booked that specific package, but the person at the front desk was dismissive and kept repeating that “one of the massages wasn’t included” without offering any solution or concern. Because of this surprise charge, we had to cancel a couple of the other things we had planned for our elopement weekend — a real emotional letdown. To make things worse, the spa experience itself was frustrating. I spent the first 20 minutes of my 50-minute massage wandering around the spa trying to figure out where to go. There was no signage, no clear direction, and no staff available to help. That kind of confusion shouldn’t happen, especially in a place that markets itself as relaxing and guest-focused. There were also smaller but still impactful issues. One night when I requested towels, I was given kitchen towels to use on my body. At checkout, we were surprised again when we were told that an additional $45 gratuity per person had been added — despite the fact that we had already tipped our massage therapists in cash. Honestly, the best part of our stay was Greg at the front desk during the evenings. He was kind, helpful, and attentive — a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing experience. This entire trip, which was meant to be full of joy and connection, ended up feeling like a slap in the face. Gravity Haus Vail has potential, but the lack of transparency, communication, and basic hospitality took away from one of the most important weekends of our lives. I hope this feedback encourages the management to do better — because guests celebrating life’s big moments deserve better. The 2- stars I’ve given, is honestly because Greg was such a doll and seen to it we enjoyed our time while he was there.

The spa is wonderful!! But the massage therapist I had was INCREDIBLE. It was THE BEST massage I’ve ever had! My massage therapist, Spencer, was professional and polite. He asked if pressure was correct and did not chit chat as some therapists do. The music was perfect and he was extremely good at his job. I will be back and request him!! Thank you for such an amazing experience.

I just spent a few weeks at Gravity Haus Vail. The location, the rooms, the restaurant and most importantly the Gravity Haus team were fabulous. Every touch point was off the charts, exceeding my entire groups expectations ! A special shout out to the GM Chris and the front desk staff who did everything possible to ensure our stay was perfect. Thank you.
