We chose Gray’s as our seasonal location after much research and painstaking work to pick the best spot in Maine…and we found it!! Working with Travis and Lantz has been a blessing. We are totally new to the RV/Camping scene and were guided with expertise and care by this managing duo. They communicated with us and assisted us over a six month pre-delivery period and greeted us this week as our new home was delivered and installed (early!). This campground is unlike any other! It is impeccably maintained, with oceanfront beauty and charm, fully equipped sites and landscaped beyond compare. We are totally in love with our new summer home! This place has to be experienced in person to really know what it is like!! Come, stay and enjoy!!!

WHAT A GRAY-T PLACE TO SPEND TIME!!||The Gray Family Homestead was one of the best places we’ve ever camped. Definitely, the most beautiful view we’ve ever had at any campground. The Gray family, Travis, Lance and Steve (in any order) were so incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. The Family has owned the property since the 1800’s. They are constantly improving the grounds and it is very well maintained with flowers everywhere. There is a tiny beach but most are fishing on the nice pier/dock where I caught a bunch of fish: Mackerel and striper. The makerel were to catch the striper.||Now, about the park when you visit. GET THERE BEFORE DARK!! ||They have tried to keep the land as close to nature as possible and some sites are tricky, but Lance and Travis will get you in perfectly, no matter where you stay. We had a beautiful oceanfront site for a week. To our good fortune someone had pull out of an oceanfront site that day and they offered the spot to us. We would have stayed another week but couldn’t get out of future reservations. They are a seasonal campground, and most folks stay the entire season or months and weeks at a time, etc. The campground closes down for the winter. ||Note: They are updating their website. Some things on there are not available anymore. I would call them to reserve and ask what you need to know. For example, they do not rent kayaks anymore and they don’t have lobster for sale at the homestead but….. ‘they’ve got a guy’. Two of the nights we ate lobster delivered; we cooked it on our firepit both nights it was available. (tip- bring a lobstah pot)||If you are looking for a summer retreat this place was amazing. It’s so very peaceful. The park was mostly adults with the exception of a couple families with young children; we were there after school started. At night all you hear are night birds and occasional waves. We absolutely loved this park. We look forward to going back.

Gray Homestead Ocean Campground is a unique experience compared to other camp grounds! We experienced 3 wonderful seasons here on Southport Island ME. There are so many reasons why we would rate this as a 5 star location. 1. Location - beautiful spot directly on the ocean with private beach and easy access to boat moorings. 2. Layout of the campground is very different than most...ample space between sites and the layout allows for privacy in most spaces. 3. Excellent maintenance - the campground is VERY well maintained....beautiful landscaping and natural surroundings. 4. Access to Boothbay Harbor. Easy 10 minute drive into town with all the restaurants, shops and galleries in easy access. Finally the Gray family. Excellent communication, friendly, welcoming and committed to their family legacy by providing an excellent overall camping experience. Overall, this campground is highly recommended for a truly unique experience in the Booth Bay Harbor Region.

Had a great time with family staying in cottage. Plenty of room for two adults and three kids. Long term campers were very kind and polite. Beach is quick walk down path. Anytime we had a question or issue with public washing machine they were very quick to respond. Only issue were that Tv and internet sometimes went out. It actually wasn't a bad thing. Look forward to next year.

We have been to many R.V. parks. This park is beautiful, well maintained, and the location would be hard to beat. I could go on and on. Definatly one of our top places to stay. The 5 star for rooms would be for the R.V. sites.

What an awesome place. We got in late season for almost a week. It appears that most of the campground is seasonal and they have some incredible sites with views. Our spot was like having your own campground. Beautiful view. I love all the granite boulders in Maine and they used them to make some crazy cool fire pits. One of the best spots we've stayed at on this trip.

I visited this campground in October, 2017. I found it very nicely wooded and landscaped and very quiet. It was very clean and maintained well. This is not a very big campground which was a plus for me. Some spots are ocean front but I actually preferred the wooded lots. This campground is located within a 10 min. ride to Boothbay Harbor. The island itself is also very nice to explore. My only complaint is the charge of $5 per day for Wifi. I felt this was an unnecessary and exhorbitant charge so I declined. My only other concern is that during the busy season the bathroom and shower facilities may not be sufficient. There are 3 toilets and 2 showers in the womens facility. If I was visiting the area again, I would definitely stay here.

We have had an extended stay at this campground. It is small, family run on a beautiful piece of wooded and ocean front property. The small beach has been a gathering place for campers all summer. The sites are well kept and level. The owner was extremely helpful from the time we first arrived helping to get our unit onto the site and being readily available to answer our questions. The bathouse and new laundry facility are clean and well lit. We have two dogs that I walk several times a day. Many other campers have dogs as well and all dogs must be kept on leash. I saw someone had a terrible experience with their dogs illness. As an experienced dog trainer, I am sympathetic and understand their agony but it has not been our experience here and I am not aware of any other health issues this summer. (Only advise is to have your dog on flea and tick medication as the ticks can be wicked in Maine) Wifi at the campground was upgraded this summer and works great for a small fee. Overall, this was a great find and we will be back next year.

Yelp
We have stayed at Grays Campground for 15 years. The location is perfect. we have stayed at one of the ocean side sites for 14 of the 15 years and simple luv it. The view is breath taking, however....the owner is a complete ass. He is unfriendly, unpleasant and all he cares about is money. In the 15 years we simply where not able to make friends with him because he is just not nice. The staff has been fine all these years, but not Steve. We have had a couple incidents over the years, one, my husband hit a $4 fiberglass driveway marker with our camper,we were backing out and he simple didn't see it, we stopped at the office to let Steve know and to offer to pay for it. He through an absolute fit. We gave him $10 and apologized and he was just terrible about it. We almost didn't return the following year but decided that we loved our site so much that we would just deal with it. The next incident, another campers car rolled down the drive way and crashed into the trees right next to our camper...just a few feet from where my children were playing. It was pretty scary....luckily everyone was ok....the owner never even checked on us. The last incident was about 2 years ago, Steve came down and scolded us for laughing too loud at 9 pm at night. Said we needed to quiet it down. I assure you we were not being loud or disrespectful....this is just how the owner is. This year when I tried to book our site for next year, I was told that the ocean sites were all going seasonal and we were out of luck. No warning, no apology, no nothing. So after 15 years of staying at Grays, all of our loyalty and all of the referrals and people we have sent there...we are done . Just like that. So for those of you thinking about Grays, it is beautiful, it is expensive, ( Steve charges for every little thing) and the owner is an ASS!!

Yelp
This is a family owned campground on the east side of Southport Island. There are about 40 sites, about half have are on the ocean or a view of the ocean the rest nestled in the trees. There a dozen or so that are seasonal sites with more being converted to seasonal each year. Now these are not inexpensive sites but are reasonable for the location. This is our second season and are returning for another and more the lord willing health wise.

Yelp
Good place to stay if you have an RV. Tent spaces are limited, and though nice, no ocean view as a previous reviewer said. Would still come back, though not during the busy season due to the high costs.

Yelp
AMAZING location. PERFECT place to spend a Summer vacation!!!!

Yelp
Great location. Site is well kept and clean. Tent spaces were ok, but not huge. Site is small, so everything is convenient. None of the tent pitches have ocean views, these are reserved for RV pitches. Booth Bay close by for shopping and restaurants. Enjoyed a great few days here and would come back again.
