On the Grid : Greasy Spoon

"The little breakfast place Greasy spoons concept serving breakfast and brunch all day has become a big favorite among the locals. It was founded by two British guys who was tired of the bad variety of brunch menus in Stockholm. Instead, they wanted to serve breakfast dishes that were more well prepared as it often is in England. Stockholmers love breakfast and brunch, so this place has become one of those places that always is packed on weekends so be there when they open. Besides divine classics as Eggs Benedict and the Bacon & eggmuffin their avocado toast is absolutely lovely. If you want you can also supplement your brunch with a Pimms & lemonade." - BVD

Midnight Breakfast

Google
Food was really good! The bread was nicely toasted and the egg was cooked just right, runny yolk and all. Tough it was a bit pricey for the portion. Tasty Eggs Benedict, but you don’t get much for the price (119 kr half, 225 kr full). Chai Latte was a pleasant surprise, 100% natural, which you don’t see often in the city. At 59 kr, I’d say it’s a solid deal. Service was good! Super friendly staffs. I got the vibe it might be a family, or friend-run place, and I love that! It always feels more personal and relaxed. Atmosphere was simple but cozy, with a bit of a British café feel. Nice place to sit and enjoy your brunch.

Google
Delicious brunch spot! Great menu options which make it hard to choose. Iced latte was on point and the waffles and chicken and breakfast burrito were a hit. Chill vibe, friendly staff make it an easy recommendation.

went early in the morning so there was no queue thank God but did have to wait around 10-15minutes to be seated. everything inside is cool! I loved the vibes! the food was not bad too, the pancakes could've been ... nicer I guess but it was interesting! Never had pancakes like this before 🥞🥞🥞 I love how liberal it is in here ❤️

Google
There is qr code that u can scan it first and write ur name on waiting list, this is super easier way to get a table. we waited around 20 min around neighbourhood and when our table is ready we got an information. When we gave our orders, we quickly got the drinks and then waited more than 30 min for our breakfast this was so annoying. Finally they bring the orders actually they all under our expectations. And after waited more than 30 min on my order they forget the breads when I told this, she looked so hopeless and not understand :) Only pancakes was so good we couldnt finish the others. Staff was kind and helpfull. The everything is pricey

Google
It was our late lunch very first in Stıckholm. The neighbourhood is nice and the restaurant as well. Tables are outside could be nice in a sunny weather. There are more tables in the back part which might be a little bit dark. We didn't wait as it was a late lunch time. Breakfast burrito, blueberry pancakes and english tea we got. All were very delicious, pancakes were upmost!

We were visiting Stockholm only for 30~ hours, and decided to start our day here with a delicious brunch. Keep in mind that you need to scan a QR code to be in the queue, which allowed us to walk around the nearby streets while waiting for an SMS that our table is ready. On top of that, their food and staff is wonderful.

Google
Really great breakfast/brunch - we came back another day as it was so great. Good portion size, lovely atmosphere and fab food - thanks!

Google
Everything was perfect. The food, the staff and the ambience. Just wow. Food had everything we needed. If something needed to be fresh it was fresh. Our avocado toast and the full English breakfast were phenomenal. Anyone who chooses not to eat here is missing a lot.

Yelp
I arrived just before the kitchen closed but was lucky enough to be able to order a bacon egg muffin with coffee. It wasn't crowed, probably because they only had 30 minutes left until closing. Everything was clean and I liked the upbeat music. And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the staff all speaks English. Of course it would be fine to speak Swedish

Yelp
When Stockholm said "Gay pride!" I didn't think it meant this way. Being able to dance the night away at Stockwig and nurse the hangover with the least bottom-friendly meal is a true 1-2 punch! The bacon was perfectly crispy, the sausage was savory AFTER and didn't have any of the weird chewy fat pieces I hate to find. The tomato's exploded in my mouth with sweet flavor and they paired nicely with the salty beans. And last, but definitely not least, those eggs were cooked to runny-yoke perfection! I slathered everything in that toast and it was the best thing in my mouth all weekend! Ps. Order the Bloody Mary! It brought me back from the dead. Also, the line to get in can vary but the seemingly tiny space has a spacious back room so you know if it's filled up and you see a line, it's worth the wait!

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Stockholm, Greasy Spoon exudes warmth and nostalgia, offering comforting classics with a modern twist. My recent visit focused on one standout dish: the Pork Belly, which proved to be a true highlight of the menu. Greasy Spoon's Pork Belly is a culinary masterpiece that celebrates the richness and versatility of this beloved cut of meat. Slow-cooked to perfection, the pork belly is tender and succulent, with a crisp, caramelized exterior that adds a delightful crunch. Greasy Spoon Stockholm continues to impress with its commitment to quality ingredients and expertly executed dishes. The Pork Belly is a shining example of their culinary prowess, offering a satisfying and unforgettable dining experience that keeps guests coming back for more.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this cute little place while sightseeing and it did not disappoint. Smashed avocados with extra zing thanks to a blend of spices and herbs and hollandaise sauce served on sourdough bread. The interior gives farmhouse vibes garnished with vintage countryside wallpaper. The service was great.

Yelp
Great place by nice people, simple and good, prices are fair, reservations recommended

Yelp
The wait will be worth it! I came with my friend on a Saturday morning and after 45 minutes we had a table! They were actually very accurate with their estimated times. They told us to come back by 11 and at 11 we were directed to a table. The decor of the place is very cutesy yet homey and cozy. All the waiters were wearing overalls and the tables were marble. It is def a perfect location for instagram. I wanted to order EVERYTHING off the menu. Even the specials sounded so delicious. I ended up getting the pink rosti thing and it was really good and pretty! The pancakes also looked super dope, I was just craving something savory. Come here!! !

Yelp
Very adorable décor here at the Greasy Spoon, but, man oh man, it is overpriced and the food was pretty mediocre. At least the vegan food was... The drinks were very fresh and of good quality, but for the few nanosips the glasses held 160 SEK is ridiculous. However, the staff was kind and attentive, and the lighting in conjunction with the small table details, tiling, wallpaper created a kind of cute French-Swedish atmosphere. Everyone spoke English by default, which seems appropriate to their menu, etc., which was British (with the food just as stereotypically bland, so points for authenticity lol :) We ended up putting the hot sauce they had on hand onto all of our food. BTW, the vegan bacon..? Just no. My husband, in all of his Swedish diplomacy, even said spontaneously: "Well, this place was over-hyped." Oh, and a small side note, the food menus' type needs more ink--the text was so faded it bordered on illegible.

Yelp
Fantastic! Pancakes and eggs Benedict are worth the stop ! Friendly staff and great tea selection.

Yelp
Looking for American Style brunch in Stockholm then this is the place to go. Came here on a Sunday at about noon. There was a wait - which is ok considering how cozy and popular the place is. We waited for about 30 mins before getting seated and the wait was worth it. Ordered the eggs Arlington with mimosas. The Salmon eggs were poached perfectly and the entirely meal was just delectable. Our waiter - young and friendly American was very helpful, attentive, and buzzing with good energy. Definitely recommend!

Pola P.

Yelp
Hi, I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews, but the meal I had at GS was disappointing. Paying for food that doesn't taste good and is quite expensive feels upsetting. I ordered 'chicken wings' - the meat looked very pale, almost raw, with no taste whatsoever. It wasn't warm either. 'Pickles' consisted of four pieces of zucchini... And the bread wasn't even artisan. It was plain white bread. Overall it did not look inviting. The dish was pretty much tasteless. The waiter was friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
The food looks amazing and the environment is nice! Definitely great presentation, but the taste is all a bit bland. For some reason, the flavors don't really come out, which is disappointing considering the price (expensive for what you're served). Service is also slow and meh

Yelp
Lovely cozy brunch restaurant that made me miss America! We got the blueberry pancakes, avocado toast, and eggs Benedict. Everything was done really well and p. The place was packed with locals and hipster visitors (likely came by way of yelp) The service was nice but a bit scattered at times, so go prepared to enjoy the food and conversations and let the time pass by! Not a dish but my favorite thing about this place is their house hot sauce, which you can buy! We bought a bunch to bring back home. We came on a Monday around 1115 and there was an hour wait. I recommend popping in to put your name down and explore the surrounding neighborhood - there are shops and coffee places around to kill time.

Yelp
First stop in Stockholm!! A super cozy little place. We got the corn fritters and eggs benedict with salmon. They were both really good!! Really filling. Also got a matcha and turmeric latte. BESTTT turmeric latte I've ever had!! Seriously so yummy. Customer service is amazing. The staff is so friendly and welcoming :) Would definitely go back!!

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place being that I'm an American living in Sweden and sometimes just want a taste of back home. It was a bit of a let down. I ordered the maple pancakes which were very tough, dry and a bit burnt unfortunately. Not at all how pancakes are supposed to taste. My boyfriend on the other hand, had no problem with his meal which was super tasty. The service itself was stellar despite my food being subpar.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday morning around 10.30am as was craving a decent cooked breakfast, which can be hard to find in Scandinavia. Had read positive reviews of the place and was not disappointed. It's a quaint little spot in the Södermalm, known as the more hipster area of Stockholm. I had the Huevos Rancheros, which had just the right amount of spice in it, and my partner had the Grilled Haloumi stack with a side of black pudding. All i can say is yum! I will be back if we have time when in Stockholm. Fast and friendly service. I will recommend to get in early, we left at about 1130 and by that time, there was a line of people waiting to get in!

Patty K.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended based on a family member traveling to Sweden. It was very good food and I would definitely go again.

Yelp
Out of this world breakfast joint that hit the spot perfectly. Showed up on Sunday to an hour long wait, but decided to come back on a weekday. So glad we did. We showed up on Tuesday and were seated immediately. Shared the avocado smash with poached egg and bacon on sourdough along with the banana French toast. We inhaled the entire thing leaving nothing but the remainder of their homemade hot sauce. Service was excellent, food was to die for. I'd give it six stars if I could!
google avatar

Yelp
Always my go to brunch place in Stockholm, the pancakes are heavenly and every other thing they serve is not far from that. Strongly recommended for anyone who is considering going to this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place. Good brunch. Perfect if you like savory brunch. Definitely overpriced though. Just had brunch for 250kronor. But also really good so I'm torn whether it's worth it
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for brunch, which is served all day. Portions are large and well-prepared, plenty of vegetarian options. Many egg options are served on thick-cut toast, which is delicious. There's something for everyone - eggs, halloumi, pancakes, etc. The cafe is small so there might be a wait at peak times. We went Tues at 1pm and were able to be seated right away. They only take cards for payment.

Loke N. S.

Yelp
I took the vegan brunch & it was de-li-cious! Very fresh ingredients, strong and interesting tastes, I even liked the vegan sausage (I usually don't). Very friendly service, taking the time to chat despite being busy, and as there was a 20m queue I was able to leave my phone number so they would text me when a table was freed. Good price given the quality and the quantity (a lot). The food arrived very quickly despite the many clients! Negative points were that our drinks took forever to arrive (we were almost done with our meal, and other people were also asking for their drinks...) & the teapot being bigger than the tea cup provided, half of the tea will always be over brewed :(

Yelp
We had such a delicious brunch here while visiting Stockholm. We came on a weekday morning so we had no wait time and took a seat outside with our toddler. My daughter is a picky eater but loved the avocado toast and I scored some unexpected and super delicious gluten free pancakes served with a sweetened pear--who knew?! We relaxed and enjoyed the people watching and I also just really loved the bathroom decor (it matters!)
google avatar

Yelp
We found this place on Yelp looking for good pancakes in Stockholm. It was the perfect breakfast spot. The location is perfect for a day of vintage shopping and local boutiques. This was the best way to start the day. Amazing pancakes, eggs Benedict, and horchata porridge.

Yelp
The mister and I stumbled across Greasy Spoon while walking to Fotografiska. We were drawn to the large crowd and then completely sucked in when we saw the neon fried egg sign. We didn't even know the name of the place so we couldn't do our normal Internet inspection before deciding to eat there, but the excitement of the diners and look of the food was good enough to convince us! It seems that shared tables are the norm here. And we sat at a table shared with one of the owner's friends and his two kids. The owners are former school teachers and have been having a blast feeding people since June of this year. Now to the food: Avocado toast: a huge portion of avocados with a bit of citrus and a sprinkle of chili peppers. This was amazing! I make avo toast at home, but this was nothing like what I usually do and it makes me want to up my toast game. Eggs Benedict: Several people in the restaurant told us this was their favorite dish. I don't typically like eggs Benedict because hollandaise is too rich for me, so I'm a poor judge. This one was no exception and I didn't eat much of it. Although, I could tell the ingredients were excellent and lovingly prepared. But I'm sure if you like hollandaise this dish will suit you well. Pancakes: So delicious! The interior was fluffy with a nice browned and crisp exterior. Even my very-picky-about-pancakes boyfriend who perfected his own pancakes by testing recipes for weeks liked them. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Greasy Spoon for a great meal and happy atmosphere.

Yelp
this place rocked -m. such good food such sweet staff. definitely go here!!!! good for breakfast when you want a "brunch" but not the whole hullabaloo that comes with a big brunch.
google avatar

Nhina S.

Yelp
There is definitely a lack of good places to have a real nice brunch according to me. Sure Stockholm has loads of breakfast places where you can pop in for a sandwich and coffee. But if you are looking for mimosas, Eggs Benedict's and pancakes, this is the better option. You can't book a table so you just have to wait in line before getting seated. Which can be tricky if you are a couple of people and hungry for brunch. I came alone and got seated rather quickly on a late Saturday afternoon. But I can imagine the line making some people turn away at the door step. I love being able to make a reservation, show up on time and get seated immediately. Who doesn't? I ordered mimosa and the Egg Arlington. Both were great. The waitress did miss the fact that I ordered a half portion and got me a full one instead. But when I pointed out the mistake they handled it very nicely and I ate more than my fill on a full portion without paying any extra for it. So they get extra plus for accommodating staff, even though they did get the order wrong. ^_^ It is larger than it looks from the outside but since people tend to take their time the wait can still be pretty long which is a bummer indeed.
google avatar

Christopher W.

Yelp
Liked the oatmeal horchata porridge (with berries, almonds, almond milk, banana, vanilla), fried eggs, toast, orange juice, and tea. Sorry to say coffee and pastry is not my idea of breakfast - too much chance of being hungry an hour later. Pleasant service by Annie from Boston. Thankfully, not too crowded at 9 am on a Monday in August.
google avatar

Amy Y.

Yelp
Jätte mums! That's how you say yummy right? Either way, this place is bomb. My party of 4 arrived at 9am on a Thursday and we were the first ones there. The waitress, which may also might have been the owner/manager, was really attentive and took our drink/food order very quickly. The food presentation was amazing, and the taste was definitely something you would expect from a typical "American" brunch menu. Def a place worth checking out!
google avatar

Sebastian M.

Yelp
If u want a truly English breakfast this is the place to go to. It's crowded so you need to wait for a while before you will catch a table. The food is good and the waitresses only speaks English which gives you the truly English feeling.
google avatar

Louise C.

Yelp
This spot deserves a healthy 4 stars! We arrived here at 12 on a Sunday in search of a table and were told it would be a 1 and a half hour wait! Yikes! If I hadn't had wanted to visit this spot since arriving in Stockholm 4 months ago I would have defiantly walked away but the menu just won me over! They have all my favourites, pancakes, eggs benedict, French toast, full English, flat white coffee, pots of fresh tea, brunch cocktails. This is heaven! We were starving by the time we got a table so I went to town! I ordered the blueberry pancakes AND a half portion of Benedict and a flat white! An I don't regret a single thing. My food was incredible. Possibly the best pancakes I have eaten in Europe ever! Fluffy and huge! My Benedict was perfect, egg was lovely an soft, the English muffin toasted and crisp, the sauce was perfect and the bacon was incredibly tasty! My husband got the full English, with a potato hash brown and some fresh juice. He was really pleased with it. However his was defiantly the priciest dish by far. €20 for a English breakfast without an included drink is just robbery even in Stockholm. He also HATES mushroom, and when he asked to have it with no mushrooms he was told no, that they don't replace items, which is fair enough but when we said we didn't want a replacement just for them to not be on the plate she said no that it would be too much work for the chef to remember? This was a really surprising reaction and really wasteful as we literally just took them off ourselves when it arrived and would be thrown out. Very strange attitude and removed the feeling of attentive service completely. It's a small thing but ye know small things matter. Same with loyality cards, we wanted to start them but were told it was only for weekday customers. I guess weekend guests mean less to these guys which is a shame seeing as we are the ones who will be willing to wait 1.5 hours for a table. I would have defiantly given this place 5 stars but unfortunately the service was not 5 star quality.

Mike C.

Yelp
Good Place for Breakfast (probably the CLOSEST thing to an American Breakfast). Went here as it was recommended by my Air BnB Host. The place is small, apparently people line up here for a table (not sure if I'd wait longer than 15 mins. for their offerings to be honest). Menu is small and limited and pricey for what you're really getting. Everything is kind of "à la carte" which can add up, once you add everything you'd like to make a COMPLETE breakfast (i.e. You want bacon +$4, You want ONE egg +$4, You want Salt 'n' Pepper +$2) I'm kidding about the charge for the seasoning, and the prices aren't exactly accurate but I'm sure you get the idea. The food itself was tasty, I won't lie about that. My boyfriend and I each ordered the Avocado Toast (w/ ONE egg each), ONE Order of Pancakes w/Crispy Bacon (to share), and 2 Drip Coffees. The bill came to about $50 USD, do the Swedish exchange yourself. This is kinda outrageous if you think about what you're really getting. I really dislike when restaurants make you share a table with other parties (due to the popularity and limited seating capacity), before you know it both parties are having a volume competition, that or one party is totally eavesdropping on your conversation. Just not what I'd like to engage in for brunch. I think I'd rather wait for my own table and not have strangers sit with my group. The avocado toast seems to be the MOST popular item on the menu as that is really all I saw the waiters coming out with from the kitchen, and I can see why... It's tasty. So if you go here order the following: Avocado Toast w/ Egg (+ Addt'l Fee), and and an order of the CRISPY bacon. Drip coffee will do, as there are free refills (surprisingly). Don't bother with the pancakes as they taste like BISQUICK and too doughy and corn-bread like. Not my fave, I prefer the KRUSTEAZ buttermilk pancake brand. Waaaaay better....Hope this helps :-)

Hassan C.

Yelp
Very difficult to find an American breakfast joint in Stockholm - Ok tasting but overpriced. $23 for a small portion of eggs Benedict with some hash browns and orange juice
google avatar

Evelina K.

Yelp
This place really deserves the hype! I mean what's not to like? The service is great, the fact that the staff only speak English adds to the great vibe, and last but not least - the brunch selection is ace. I'll definitely pay this place another visit!
google avatar

Riley P.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Best fresh Orange juice I've ever had! My meal was MASSIVE, vegetarian and delicious!!!!! The music was awesome, beastie boys and other old school stuff! The wallpaper was super rad. GANGSTA REALLY! Only way this place could get better would be if it was in my town!! I truly suggest giving them a visit and following them on Instagram so you can see all the deliciousness!
google avatar

Susan T.

Yelp
Amazing food, cool interior and super friendly service. Had a flat white and the avocado toast with a side of scrambled eggs. Added some homemade hot sauce and was so happy! Perfect brunch. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Stockholm.
google avatar

Cristina P.

Yelp
This place is crazy during the weekends; you go there and book a table and come back in one hour! But the food is really nice, prices are a bit high, but it's worth it! If you order the English Breakfast you won't leave hungry that's for sure! Even the vegetarian English Breakfast is lovely!
google avatar

Patrick K.

Yelp
Nice food but the waiting time really killing this place. The staff seems stressed and the ones at the door managing the people for next tables are a disaster. They said 15mins to us and it took 45mins. People waiting for tables can't wait inside, or very few and one time when it was around 0°C we had to stay outside, after 20mins we just left and found some other places less crowded.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
I like this place! It does breakfast like they do in England and Australia. Eggs how you want on toast with your choice of sides, plus a bunch of more creative breakfast options! I like the coffee too and if you ask they will add chocolate powder to the top of cappuccino like do in Australia! Yum! It's popular on the weekends so if you want a spot get there when it opens! Weekdays of course are much calmer and they have some brekkie specials too!
google avatar

Mac M.

Yelp
Thanks Yelp for telling us about this place. What people need to google (in my opinion) is full English breakfast. This place is off the beaten track a little, but worth it. Mimosas with freshly squeezed oranges. Full English breakfast even had Black Pudding! Service was awesome! Thanks to the whole team on doing a great job!
google avatar

Randy D.

Yelp
All I can say is that if you are in this part of Stockholm, or maybe any part of Stockholm, you should attend. We had the Eggs Arlington, Banana French Toast & crushed avocado. All 3 were outstanding. The crushed avocado has some layered flavors with some interesting secondary and tertiary characteristics that I found unique. Delicious.
google avatar

Sally L.

Yelp
This was so delicious! I was visiting from out of town and happen to meet a few friends who are now 'locals' there and went with them. I got the Arlington Benedict. It was a good size/portion where I didn't feel SO full, but sufficiently happy with my decision. I wish I had room for the salted brownie, which my friend got because it looked delicious as ever! The decor was nice and had that British feel. The only thing that is limiting me in giving them a full 5 star is their staff. They seemed pretentious and slightly rude... Kind of bizarre since everyone else in Stockholm was so friendly and great.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
Cozy place. Very expensive though and a long waiting time. Staff was really nice though :)
google avatar

J G.

Yelp
I'll talk about the positive things first. The toilet was cosy; there was a cute little candle lit so even if you turn the light off it's still cosy! Don't judge me I just really like beautiful and fresh comfort rooms. Haha. The personnel was nice! They all seemed happy; isn't this a good thing? Not all can afford to be happy. A bitter personnel is one of the worst things I know, seriously. There are tables outside too and it's pretty cosy to sit there and eat as you watch people pass by (and people passing by, watching you eat; they can't help but check out your food). The cooking was pretty good although I was a bit disappointed by the orange juice. On the menu it says it is fresh and I was expecting something better than the one I got. It felt a bit powderish (I believe it was powdered orange juice?). The price was 39-40kr so I was really expecting a good orange juice. :( I feel the price wasn't worth it. Anyway I can still recommend Greasy Spoon to anyone who'd like to have a good breakfast/brunch! :-)
google avatar

Swede H.

Yelp
Sit down table service and everyone seem to be talking the Queens English... Customers and servers... Food was super yummy, I had Rösti with additional bacon, and it was everything I vod dream of. Maybe there could have been more Rösti - Im obsessed with potatoes, so there is that. My friend had the full Veggie, and there was a lot of food, and that's NOT a bad thing. The atmosphere was nice and semi quiet, lots of parents with their babies... Oh, and my flat white was EXCELLENT, and we all know the importance of good Coffee!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Best banana I have ever eaten in my life. It was perfectly ripened and peeled like a delicate flower. Also, the all veggie breakfast was super dank. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Josefin S.

Yelp
Nice interior, music not to loud, good prices. Only downside is that it took a while to get my lunch and the staff was a bit chill and didn't seem to keen on providing good service. All in all - okay.
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and the food has gone slightly downhill. The first time I went I ordered a English breakfast and definitely wasn't disappointed. Proper backed bacon and good beans. However subsequent visits and the bacon has turned into the paper thin streaky stuff that most places serve and the beans have become hard and watery. The staff here are very friendly and nothing is too much for them. The wallpaper depicts scenes in London but in an old fashioned way. The place has a juke box where you can choose music for free. Other food which I see coming out looks amazing! Overall I would say good but could do better.
google avatar

Klara M.

Yelp
This is a hipster breakfast place. Kinda pricey for that kind of food, But they have a good vegan menu. The staff is friendly and got a table pretty quickly even though it was pretty crowded.

William U.

Yelp
I had Banana maple French toast. And it was perfect. The staff was friendly, hardworking and absolutely stunning. I would return anytime I had the chance.
