Google
An absolute must-do in Alaska! We attended the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show with family during our cruise, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The show was packed with action, from log rolling to axe throwing, and the skill and athleticism of the lumberjacks were impressive. They kept the energy high with a perfect mix of humor and competition, making it fun and engaging for all ages. The performers did a great job involving the audience and made us feel like part of the show. This is a unique and entertaining way to experience Alaskan culture—definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary!

Google
The show was just meh. It wasn’t funny or engaging and coming towards the end of the season, it just seemed a tired effort overall. To be honest, the free lumberjack show at Grouse Mountain in Vancouver was much better, funnier and had a shock surprise as the finale. With that said many others in the audience seemed to love the Ketchikan show. I do think once you’ve seen one lumberjack show, you’ve seen ‘em all.

Google
Very funny and entertaining show. The Canadian team won! Suggest buying tickets in advance as if you buy it at the entrance you might be seated at the end. Good educational experience as well. BTW, the lumberjacks are very biased towards kids and older ladies. I was screaming loudly to get the prise, but they totally ignored me. Very unfair for the big , an like me ;-)

Arlene Obertance

Google
Fantastic show. High energy from the Lumberjacks and Emcee. They put on a great show. Was highly recommended to me and I'm highly recommending it to you. A must see show!!

Anne Bingham

Google
The show was lots of fun. It was an impressive display of lumberjack skills in a friendly American vs Canadian competition format. The audience was divided by the host to root for one team or the other. The only setbacks were that the host was difficult to understand at times over the speaker system when she spoke quickly or indistinctly or there was music playing at the same time. Also, get there early to avoid sitting where the large grandstand posts block your view.

Jason Zimmerman

Google
So. Fun! I didn't know what to expect, but it was an energizing and fun afternoon to see these hunks of lumberjacks perform these tasks. It was also intense, they were not easy jobs and pretty dangerous. The host/emcee was AMAZING and deserves a raise!

Jennifer Perez

Google
Great show! The venue is small enough that any seat is a good seat to see everything. This was one of the less expensive excursion options, and it did not disappoint. If you have mobility issues or traveling with someone who does, this is a great option.

Jeff Lowe

Google
A PERFECT SHOW FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY! The jokes alone are worth the admission. Very talented lumberjacks. The log roll competition was INSANE (set to the music Cotton-eyed Joe!) You will love it!

Dennis M.

Yelp
This was good. We were on an Alaskan cruise, and it was a shore excursion. I liked it very much because I thought it would be super touristy and cheesy. It is a bit touristy, but that is why it is there. The whole town supports tourism. The show was very entertaining. Bench seating is throughout, and there is a bit of a lineup beforehand. I recommend you line up early to get a better seat. Snacks and merch were available. Check this out if you can.

Yelp
What a fun show! We paid through the cruise line. It is cheaper booking directly but we didn't want the risk not making the port. There wasn't much to do in Kitchean except this show and a walkthrough the rain forest. We had a lot of fun.

Michaela P.

Yelp
Had heard this is a must to do in Ketchikan so of course had to get tickets. I did see when we arrived that you can grab them on site but we pre-booked since I didn't want to miss out. I did not know what to expect, but it was much more fun and entertaining than I anticipated. Be prepared to squeeze in with everybody else and get ready to scream and yell and cheer on the lumberjacks. They divided half of the space into two countries which you would you then became part of. Nothing like friendly competition. This made it even more exciting as you were rooting for your own side to beat the other lumberjacks. There were multiple different rounds of different type of activities and the hour and a bit flew by. You could really see that both kids and adults alike had a wonderful time. There is a cute little gift shop on site and you can grab snacks and drinks during the show, before and after.

Ada Z.

Yelp
So much fun! We prebooked our tickets ahead of time, so we didn't need to chance it, to see if there were seats available last moment. The crew members were very interactive with the crowd and gave out multiple signed cards and a special souvenir too, to one child. They had a competition amongst their group and had the crowd cheering for the two groups. We definitely found every minute very entertaining, and there was always laughter amongst the audience. They did sell drinks and snacks inside and provided well maintained restrooms as well.

Chris C.

Yelp
Very fun show, of course it's campy and probably only worth watching once but still a good time. Also got the crab feast which originally was supposed to be via a bus ride to George inlet lodge. It got relocated to the dining room next to the show so we did get refunded by princess $25/ea. I enjoyed myself at the crab feast, crab was cooked perfectly and my plate was never empty. I ate my money's worth in my opinion but my kids probably did not (though they do love crab and at at least two clusters each).

Melyssa G.

Yelp
First port stop snd this was the first excursion for the day. It was very entertaining. You walk through the store in order to get seated for the show. It was great as there was a lot to look at. Once you get into the outdoor arena, there was even more to look at. I don't want to spoil what happens during the show, but I did want to share that it was very entertaining. Audience participation is a must. It was fun and I recommend checking it out.

Terri H.

Yelp
It was a great show. With real lumberjack athletes that compete in national and international competitions. The premise is USA vs Canada . The hour plus long show was entertaining, showed feats of true strength and athleticism. The MC was humorous and the "rivalry" was great, and you could tell they all seemed to get Along very well. T Hanks for hosting is in your beautiful town with and great show hospitality!

Dawn B.

Yelp
SO MUCH FUN! don't skip on this amazing show. It runs about an hour long and is very entertaining! Seats fill fast so get here early. They will absolutely pack this house! The games are really fun and the banter between the host and the lumberjacks is worth the price of admission! My daughter got a selfie with one of the guys and they both got a cut of the logs!

Jeanee V.

Yelp
This is the number one top of list thing to do when visiting Ketchikan. Best entertainment in town. Great talent, great energy, and overall a great time! The show is set for an hour with many competition rounds. I recommend to head over with a group - heckling and cheering are both encouraged for a fun time interacting with other audience members and performers. It's impossible to leave this show without smiling and laughing. Before and after the show, they have super cute souvenirs I haven't seen elsewhere whether it be a lumberjack stuffed animal or a chain saw made kids chair. After the show, you can even get the chance to take photos with the crew! So go on and get tickets for this to be the highlight of your day! It def was for me!

Jordan H.

Yelp
Super dope experience! Worth the money! They need to give lasagna Joe a raise because he was funny and entertaining all throughout the show. All the lumberjack competitors were also funny, entertaining, and talented. My family loved how they engaged the crowd and also kept the crowd engaged. For anyone traveling to Ketchikan, AK on a cruise I would highly recommend you add this to your list of attractions!

Kayli D.

Yelp
Such a fun experience. Got to visit for an excursion off our cruise ship as I'm sure 98% of their customers are. The entry process was quick and easy through their gift shop. They even had a snack booth that served drinks! The host was great at getting the audience engaged. We were team canada which was fun. Great experience for all ages!

Peter Q.

Yelp
Went to this show while passing through on a cruise. Overall it was a entertaining way to spend a little time if you have never seen anything like this before. One thing that we found very annoying was that the venue had roped off the center section of the bleachers so you had to pick one side or the other. Then after the show had started they gave those primo spots to the people who showed up late for the show! So much for coming early to get the good seats.

Jessica P.

Yelp
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan was a hoot! USA vs Canada!! The way to cheer on your team, yell "Yo-Ho"!! Axe throwing, log chopping, climbing, and rolling were simply entertaining!! We purchased this excursion in advance through our cruise ship and we're glad we did it. We only had 4 hours in town though. It took 15 mins to walk from the pier to the 1-hour show. Then at least another hour to fit in other things like Creek Street and Salmon Walk. Overall, I would recommend this show for a good laugh. Plus, these guys were easy on the eyes. Hehe! The host definitely gave these guys a shout out by marketing their 2024 calendar. It was definitely family friendly, too! If you cheer loud enough, you'll have a chance to win prizes!!

Julia A.

Yelp
I had been wanting to come to the Great Alaskan Lumberjack show after seeing it on TikTok- and I can truly say there is nothing like this anywhere else! The show was fun, the lumberjacks are so athletic and talented, it is definitely worth a visit! The only reason I took away one star- it is pretty expensive for an hour show. The lumberjacks will make you laugh, make you yell, and keep you on your toes! It is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Ketchikan!

Belldandy C.

Yelp
We came to the show after an AYCE crab feast. It was hard to find a seat when we first got there. They definitely sell out as many tickets as they can. The show was fun and entertaining though, even with the rain. I's definitely recommend this if you have kids. They would have a blast!

Jose M.

Yelp
Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show is a must when traveling to Ketchikan, Alaska. The show is amazing. The show hostess(Sue) did an amazing job of keeping the audience engaged and entertained. The lumberjacks were awesome, with all of the events that they completed while competing against one another (in a team competition). The show was filled with so many amazing feats. It's amazing what these lumberjacks demonstrated throughout the show. When visiting Ketchikan, The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show is a can't miss.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Fun and entertaining! They get the audience to participate in a friendly competition. It was a fun break from the singing and dancing on the ship.

Hugh A.

Yelp
Wow, this was fun. Where do you get to see ax throwing, chainsaws ripping and log rolling in less than an hour? It was a wonderful competition between the two teams. It's obvious it takes a lot of skill and practice. Make sure to be the number one fan so you can get the signed postcard!

Andrea T.

Yelp
Our friend booked us tickets and other friends have raved about the show. I went in with an open mind, but by the end I was screaming for a free postcard and drooling over Jake Hollywood. Seating is first come first serve so get there early, but any seat is good. The entire theater is covered and there are heat lamps. If you wait till the end of the show you can take pics with the cast. The gift shop has so many fun things to take home! A must in Ketchikan

Ann B.

Yelp
Wanted to add the pics we had from the lumberjack show. We really did have such a fun time. I saw other reviews that it was expensive. We did not feel it was expensive at all! These people are putting on a show for you and quite honestly must take a lot of strength and talent!

Chris S.

Yelp
This is a fun show thats a competition between lumber jacks. They do all kinds of things including walking on spinning logs and have a contest cutting logs. They all have fun personalities and the seating is comfortable. I finally made it to the show. I have wanted to go for years and the timing never worked out till today. The weather was fantastic so we lucked out there. I would definitely would go to this show again.

Rose P.

Yelp
I can't express how much fun this show was! Not only did I learn a lot about lumberjacks but a lot about Alaska. Care Bear and Chance were my favorite! I'd highly recommend the show to every first visitor of this cute town.

Uncle Wiggley 1.

Yelp
Met this dude in Seattle and he can throw an Axe! At the Holland America Alaska event. Going to K-town to see him and the others soon.

Christie B.

Yelp
Fun competitive show with lumberjacks showing off their skills. Good fun for the whole family! Anywhere you sit is a good view. The reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is I think it is a little pricey.

Zach H.

Yelp
Went to the show as part of my cruise excursion! It was a lot of fun. Partially scripted but fully real competitions made for a good balance of laughs and appreciation of the athletes. Covered up seating to protect from the rain - we were lucky and had great weather. Some of the events are loud so if you have children or are sensitive to sounds, maybe worth bringing hearing protection.

Sonja A.

Yelp
We were only spared 4hours in Ketchikan so for a quick adventure, we ordered tickets for The Lumberjack Experience. What a fun time! Definitely recommend doing this show on your own vs a cruise excursion (less expensive that way). We picked a morning showing and were thrilled with the sportsmanship and humour of top rated lumberjacks. Cookie cutting, log rolling, speed climbing activities, just to name a few. It is amazing the balance and stamina displayed by these woodchuckers. Great for families, the humor is definitely adult centric!

Mary J.

Yelp
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show was an excellent way to spend an hour in Ketchikan. Although the show was scripted to a point, the skills shown were genuine, and the humor never gets old. Besides... muscles are muscles. Am I right, Ladies? Nice view. These guys know how to grin and joke and put on a good show. All the way from Lasagna Joe to the last Jack. It was a competition between two two-man teams: "US" versus "Canada" and is probably the only time in my life I ever rooted for the 'other' team - as dictated by my audience section. After the show, there was a photo op in which my little grandson (and, okay, I'll be honest... me/I) was happy to partake.

Harlee S.

Yelp
Fun, fun, fun! There was loads of audience participation and excitement all around. I like that they made the show a competition and split the audience into two teams to have some rivalry and cheering. After attending the show, I definitely have a deeper appreciation and insight into the hard and dangerous work that lumberjacks do.

Tawny V.

Yelp
If this is your first time in Ketchikan and The Great Lumberjack Show is on an excursion list, then do it. After walking around town, I was a bit sad to see that the tickets were cheaper if you just showed up but our excursion came with Ax throwing and that was definitely worth the extra $20 or $30. They open the doors quite early, so I would suggest being there at least 15-20 mins early if you want good seats! This place really gets the crowd going, you can hear them as soon you walk into town. The whole thing is hilarious, the lumberjacks are sooo fun to watch, its also interesting listening to their individual background. The only thing they need is a lumberjill, she may not be able to do some heavy lifting but I know a woman can probably beat a man climbing up that tree!! Overall, I would recommend this excursion in a heartbeat. I would suggest seeing how far the walk is getting in to town rather than boarding the bus because you can see so much more of Ketchikan this way! P.s The show will go on, rain or shine - bring appropriate clothing! Also, go online for current prices, if you didn't purchase one on the cruise ship, its $37 adults and $18.50 children

Ellen C.

Yelp
Went to a show in early July with my family. The audience gets split into two teams and you're rooting for the performers representing your team. They did a great job of engaging with the audience and were entertaining. The kids in my family all enjoyed the show. I was one of the lucky audience members who went home with a sign postcard from the performers.

Shawn B.

Yelp
Great venue. Fun atmosphere. Very talented young men. Sitting to the side is not bad.

Ricky B.

Yelp
What a great value. We loved the show. It was a great mix of cool expert timber athletes and dumb corny jokes. If you are in port for a short stay I recommend this show followed up with some local sightseeing & shopping. It's a short walk from all of the cruise docks.

Regina B.

Yelp
What a great time!!! My whole family, 4 kids and 6 adults, went when we were in town and had a blast! Going into it, I thought it would just be a hokey show with trained actors. Boy was I wrong! We found out the lumberjacks have been doing lumber sports for a long time and are real professionals. The show was fast paced and we really got into it. I was impressed with how committed they were to safety as well since the tools used are real axes, saws and chainsaws. The seating is bleacher style so keep that in mind and we got there early so we could get seats together out of the sun.

Josephine C.

Yelp
On a Thursday afternoon, my family and I attended the fun show. We waited in line and got seated in no arrangement. Lots of attendance was from 2 cruise ships. It wasn't far walk from our Holland cruise ship. The announcer was funny and good announcer voice. Lots of audience participation and divided by USA and Canada. The 4 lumber jacks shown great sportsmanship and are funny. It was fun to see what lumberjacks do in a fun way. End of show was photos with lumberjacks and tips encouraged.

Kristian D.

Yelp
What a hoot! The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show was a great time in Ketchikan and a great way to close out my Alaska adventure. This raucous show is located in downtown Ketchikan right next to the cruise ports making it an easy and popular stop for tourists. Limited parking is available, but everyone walks and the spaces were packed with electric cars anyway! The venue is open air, but it has covered seating areas. I visited on a spectacularly sunny and warm day, but the show goes on rain or shine! The concept is a competition between American and Canadian logging camps based on historic events. The audience is split into Team Canada and Team USA to cheer on the lumberjacks. I don't think there is a set split, so your assignment may be random. Depending on your cruise departure, I recommend visiting the gift shop before the show as it gets crowded after. If you want to get a good look at young men in good shape, get a seat close to the action! Otherwise, most of the seats have a decent view of the competition. You might get wet from the water area. The competition obviously involves cutting wood so be prepared for chainsaws, flying wood chips, and cheesy jokes. The seats are bleacher style with some padding, so bring a cushion if desired. Overall it is very fun. The competition seems real, and the guys really get into the effort. It is hard work with a lot of skill to do what they do. Fun for the whole family or just you. You can also get pictures with them after the event or beer later that night if you're lucky! Ketchikan is a small town, so I recommend buying tickets directly from them and just hanging out in the city - unless you can get a good package from the ship. The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show is a great option for everyone visiting Ketchikan. It is only about an hour and is a fun time for all ages.

Kasey U.

Yelp
It was an amazing show. Super funny and entertaining. Sunshine gave team Canada the win.

Chris L.

Yelp
Came here during our Alaskan cruise, booking tickets in advance. We had a great time - the kids gave it a solid 4.5 stars. Lots of audience interaction and neat to see the skills of the lumberjacks. Very unique show!

Josh N.

Yelp
Really fun show, very interesting. The show is scripted itself has a script but the competitions are fully real. They also deviate from the scripts every so often. The stands are covered so if you get the good old Ketchikan ran you will be protected. We didn't get a shot to look inside the gift shop but they had a gift shop.

Rick J.

Yelp
Super Fun! 10/10 would recommend to a friend. The backrests and pads on the bleachers were an exceptional touch!

K D.

Yelp
I typically don't love touristy things, but this show was cute. The lumberjacks have real talent - and I learned collegiate Timber Sports were a thing. They keep it fun with some jokes and playful banter. Glad we went!

Phil H.

Yelp
If you're in town on an Alaskan cruise be sure to see this family friendly show. It hearkens back to the days of wholesome and fun lighthearted entertainment. Got our tickets in advance and headed to the show after deboarding the ship in Ketchikan. Be prepare to wait in line then get herded into bleacher seating where one side is USA and the other is Canada. It's like a lumberjack arena. It's a fun interactive show with audience participation thrown in. All the participants are skilled and pretty funny. Seems like each lumberjack has a specialty event where they compete to display their strengths and skills related to logging. The MC we had that day was terrific and really had the crowd into it. It's kind of like watching pro wrestling where it's scripted and the outcome is predetermined, but that's the charm of it all. It's a tongue in cheek show where we all go along with the ride and cheer on the combatants. It's great entertainment. Of course, there is a souvenir shop on site. The show is not too long so you'll still have time to explore the town afterwards. For those here giving this show 3 stars and below please lighten up a bit and rediscover your inner child. If you can't sit back and enjoy something like this you're not the type to be any fun at parties are ya?

Michal H.

Yelp
Everyone raved about this show - saying it was THE thing to do in AK. We definitely enjoyed it, however didn't think it was "the best thing ever" like some say. But nonetheless it was entertaining! The "acting" parts are kind of cheesy, but obviously these guys work hard and are great at what they do!

Asya Z.

Yelp
We heard from the grapevine that this show is great for families. To a certain extent, this is correct - our Junior Rangers enjoyed the show and even earned a postcard from one of the lumberjacks. While all lumberjacks were highly skilled, I found the plot to be entirely predictable. I doubt that I will see this show again on my next visit to Ketchikan.

Sandy D.

Yelp
So much fun! Purchased on our cruise (Princess) do before you sail. The lumberjacks are babes and our darling host, Susie Blueberry Pie or something like that was superb! Just a fun time in Ketchikan and very memorable!

Helene S.

Yelp
What a fun and entertaining show in Ketchikan. Located a few blocks from the port, it was so easy to walk over and then watch as lumberjacks "competed" in a decathlon of logging related events. Fun to root for Team USA vs Team Canada as the lumberjacks sawed logs, chopped wood blocks, climbed up log poles and threw axes at a target. For the grand finale, there was a log rolling competition. Used our cruise port excursion credit for this show. Tickets are also available online or at the ticket box for $37 per adult.

Shari C.

Yelp
Great tourist experience for the fam! Cute and cheesy, and the kids loved it!! Wasn't expensive either-

Doris L.

Yelp
This is a must see show if you visited Ketchikan the first time. It's very entertaining and you see all the stunts. A great way to start your day at Ketchikan!

Bridgette F.

Yelp
It was a great show despite the rain. I'm really glad they do the show rain or shine because it was a lot of fun and definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Alaska.
