Great Barrier Island is absolutely stunning – a true escape from the noise and rush of everyday life. The natural beauty here is incredible, from lush forests and walking tracks to pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and there's a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind. Whether you're into hiking, swimming, stargazing, or just enjoying nature, there's something here for everyone. It's a special place that feels untouched and authentic. Highly recommend visiting if you're looking for a unique and refreshing getaway.

A lovely visit. Highly recommend. Need a vehicle though. Food is very expensive take what you can. Restaurants can run out of food at the end of the day. Best pies at the cafe in Tryphena.... full of filling! Great little Irish pub and good charter fishing! We stayed with Michael at the Oasis.

Fabulous place place for a laid back relaxing holiday. My Fat Puku was a great cafe with wonderful food, the Irish Pub was well worth a visit and the thermal pool in the bush was amazing. For walker's and trampers, a mecca.

A 25 minute flight from Auckland airport, Great Barrier Island is like the land that time forgot. Gorgeous beaches with no one else on them, bush tracks all to yourself, friendly people and time just moved more slowly. Give yourself time to explore, rent a car for a day, pack some good walking shoes.... And try the local food and beer - it's magic!

A network of tracks across the island for a wide variety of hiking ability. Mt Hobson the highest point giving 365 degree views. Many tramline tracks from the former Kauri Industry. Beautiful beaches.

Great walking. Great swimming. Great fishing. This is a wonderful holiday destination with picture perfect scenery, a 3 day walking track, clear water and great fishing. Something for everyone to enjoy. I recommend the hot springs before you leave on your last day.
