Fantastic campground. Friendly staff and campers. Bathhouse is top-notch. Setting is gorgeous. Perfect spot for a weekend of quiet camping. Owner put on an AWESOME fireworks display for weekend of July 4th. Asked about a seasonal and was told they haven’t lost a seasonal camper in six years and I can see why! I never wanted to leave!

It's a small fsmily owned campground on Great Bay. Not a lot of traffic since it's inland more. Great Subs and Fried Chicken!

After a week long stay at Great Bay Camping, I have to say it is definitely one of the nicest campgrounds we've been to. First, the owner Dave, is one of the nicest and most accommodating people you will ever meet. During the recent heat wave... 90°F plus, he did everything within his power to make sure we would be comfortable. The campground is quiet, extremely well kept and well groomed. The setting is stunningly beautiful. We noticed that most of the seasonals take pride in their campers and campsites. The people we had the pleasure to speak to had only great things to say about Dave, the campground and their neighbors. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

We stayed at GBC for 5 days. The reviews about the driveway were helpful! Our site was a rustic tent site so no electric or water. It wasn’t a big deal for us as there is a water source near the campsites. The bathrooms and showers are nice and clean. The kids loved the playground and pool which doesn’t get too deep. We had hoped for more kids around but for most of the week we were the only campers in rustic sites but the weather wasn’t ideal either! The sites are on sandy ground which was great since we got a lot of rainfall, everything dried quickly! The location is pretty central to things in the area, we hit the SEE Science Center in Manchester and a Fisher Cats game (very fun) and did a day in Portsmouth and a day at Hampton Beach. Amenities like groceries, ice, and coffee are all close by!

Greatest family camping ever. We love it here and David the owner is the best. Our family has been camping here for almost 5 years now for our new tradition of family camp weekend. We can’t wait to continue the tradition. -The Kistler/Davis/Bartow clan.

We stayed 2 nights in late July to visit nearby Hampton Beach. This is a small campground hidden far out in the woods behind a Shell Station. Don't let that deter you. From your site you will feel completely removed from the Shell and the road. It's a long driveway in. The sites are well kept and spacious. We had full hookup and the sites are mostly level. The gentleman running things I believe his name was Dave is very kind and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

My stay at the great bay was one of the best days I’ve ever had at a campground. The showers were the most amazing showers I’ve ever been in .are like the ones you see on TV. It is in a very nice location right near the Hampton Beach which is a nice beach with the boardwalk. They have a pool where you can swim in which is very fun for the kids. Also with the playground which was fun for the kids. The staff was amazing and nice. So I think that you should stay at the great Bay Campground. But the mosquitoes are very bad so remember to bring your bug spray. So you do not get eaten alive.

The camping place is lovely, unfortunately we can hear couple of time trains passing in the middle of the nights. The restroom and pool are clean and spacious. Good place to camp and enjoy the nature.

Yelp
Would not return here. The young man who works there was incredibly rude and unwelcoming not to mention sarcastic with us as well as other campers. Put a complete damper on the experience. Besides, the facilities were great.

Yelp
Not a positive experience. This place seems designed for the seasonal RV-goer, not a tent camper like myself. The "rustic" tent sites are just off the road, and the sites with hook-ups are right in the center of the campsite with no tree coverage and surrounded by RV's. Very dissatisfied with the owner/ level of service also. For starters, good luck trying to get a hold of someone to reserve a site because they're never in the office to answer the phone (they post on their site having office hours of like 9am-2pm, or something, but no, they're never there). They also are bad at returning calls as well. Lastly, the day we arrived we tried to check in early. Not that early, it was about 10:30 and check-in was at 2pm. Our campsite was available, but the owner who had stepped out to go buy baby formula (yeah, it's THAT kind of campground), told his workers that if any campers arrived to tell them to "wait" for him to get back... So, you be the judge and decide if you want to give this guy your hard-earned money, but I'll never do that again. The two star rating: would of gave it one star but the bathroom facilities were the some of the best I've ever seen at a campground; very clean and functional.

Yelp
Very nice wooded sites for tents, very peaceful atmosphere. Bathrooms were immaculate. Campground is hidden behind a gas station, but don't be deterred, it's worth looking for. It is convenient to Seacoast New Hampshire attractions and beaches. There is a boat launch available which we did not use.

Yelp
We were tenters at Great Bay Campground till this year when we took the leap into a seasonal trailer. During seasonal hours we never have a problem getting someone to answer the phone, or if they are working on the campground or off season, my call was always returned if I left a message. I have contacted the owner after 10pm with a leaky hot water heater and he came to my rescue within minutes. Having access to the Great Bay via the Squamscott river is a wonderful addition. There is a dock to fish from also. To me checking in at 10:30 and expecting someone to be there is ridiculous. If someone showed up an hour early and nobody was there that would be different. If it was a hurricane, how could activities occur? My grandchildren come often over the weekend and Val (best employee at GB) always has activities!! As a previous tenter for over 30 years, and going to many campgrounds, we chose Great Bay !!!!

Yelp
This campground is top notch for customer service. This family owned business is truly refreshing. They are a very close family and will go out of their way to accommodate and make you happy. I have been to many campgrounds as a seasonal and a weekend tenter. Most campground owners are lazy. This family is far from lazy, they will bend over backwards for you. As for the negative review about mosquitos being a problem. They are so close to the ocean, if you have a boat- BRING IT! They have ramp access in the campground. Portsmouth, Nh is just 30-40 min boat ride with public docks. Great food and plenty to do. Finally, I think a negative review to this company is not warranted as they can't control nature. If anyone knows the outdoors then you know that some years are not bad as others and depends on the rain and temperature. This is common sense. Obviously these visitors were people who don't get outside much.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this campground The trailer sites were very spacious and our particular site faced the water. They had a boat ramp and dock which was a great feature. Also canoe rentals for $5 for an hour. The facilities were clean and well kept. They also pick up your rubbish right at your site which was a nice bonus. Nice pool, volleyball, and horseshoes. A 15 minute ride to Hampton that didn't include taking Rt. 1 which was great. They have a gas station (diesel as well) with a nice deli and wide selection. Overall, our entire group really enjoyed our time here and plan on returning for a longer stay next year.

Yelp
We stayed there last august in a sad attempt at camping. It's not bad, but not as great as the website claims. We rejected our first tent site because it was right in the front of the campground and was not rustic at all. It then proceeded to rain... I mean hurricane..needless to say we pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was dead there, most of the trailers were abandoned at this point in august. The staff was friendly, but none of the activities promised on the website were actually offered. We couldn't even get into the rec hall to get relief from the wetness. The only bonus was the roomy bathrooms we had to ourselves along with the use of the driers to take care of our soggy bedding. Proximity to the beach...only about a 10 min drive to Hampton beach.

Yelp
Stayed recently, and definitely will not return. The mosquito problem is so significant that you almost can't leave your tent/RV -both day and night, and beyond the typical dusk/dawn mosquito feeding times. Took the dog for a walk at 8am in bright sunshine and we were both attacked by swarms of mosquito's - literally dozens. Off repellent with 30% Deet was only marginally effective, and we could not sit by the fire due to the sheer volume of mosquitos Campground was clean, with good level sites for tents. The small staff was accommodating, friendly, and helpful, but we were prisoners inside our tent most of the time due the the mosquito problem. We were also sold firewood on-site that still needed a good month to dry/season and would barely light. This may be a good campground for the seasonal camper who owns a boat due to boat ramp (but in water that you cannot swim in), but beyond that, there are far better choices out there. The owners really need to treat the campground for mosquito's and deal with this significant problem. In 20 years of camping, we have never seen such a significant mosquito issue.
