One of my favorite weekend delights is to stop at Great Meadow Farm in Redding, CT. This organic farm stand (2 Old Hattertown Road, Redding, CT) is one of the most beautiful sites in the area. They grow a wonderful variety of produce and the baked goods (especially those galettes, both sweet & savory) are beyond delicious. Aside from all these wonderful attributes, co-owners Margie and James Lipton are wonderful “farmer hosts” who clearly enjoy what they do and making their visitors happy. My visits there are always such a pleasure.

Hands down the best food I have ever gotten from a farm. I am still eating their mini tomatoes as I type : ) We got lots of vegetables and greens which were so fresh and filled with flavor. We also got a plum cake that the owners made and words can't express how good it was. Speaking with the owners was one of the best parts. They are so knowledgeable about true organic food, how it is made, taught us about the soil and why it matters. We all learned something and are going back to get fresh bread tomorrow morning. If you are looking for real organic food and baked goods that are better than anything you have ever tasted this is the place to go.

Great Meadow Farm is a delightful experience, There are beautiful spray-free vegetables from the garden which is full of tomatoes, zucchini, wax & green beans, egg plant, Japanese turnips(adorable & delicious) and more. I tried a French breakfast radish for the first time! There is also Swiss chard, & lettuce all spray free! I have visited Great Meadow Farm the past two Saturdays now and have been eating so well from what I purchase there. I made a lovely sweet lettuce salad adding beautiful cucumber and slices of Japanese white turnip. YUM! The cakes and sourdough breads all look amazing. Margie bakes Plum-Almond cake & Wild Maine Blueberry Galette. The property is also beautiful with a large flower & herb garden. I am really pleased to have found this great place, and will be back for my weeks worth of vegetables & my special order Plum Cake on Saturday! Enjoy discovering this place for yourself!

We live nearby and love coming to Great Meadow Farm to see what they have growing and baking. The owners are so kind, the produce so fresh and interesting, the grounds so charming, and the baked goods are out of this world -- so good that we have gifted them to friends and family! Organic, chemical-free, and made and picked with love.

Our favorite farmer's market in the area. Margie and James are so kind and passionate about this business, you always leave learning so much more about the produce you're buying. This is the only place I can get my Sourdough bread and pastries at this point, as nowhere else compares to the freshness we get at Great Meadow Farms. They don't use all these awful pesticides you'll see at the grocery stores and you can tell the difference in what you're eating. Margie's pastries are made with such love and warmth that you almost need to savor every bite of these masterpieces. I used to think Farmer's markets were so expensive, but Great Meadow Farm is definitely completely fair in their pricing. On top of all of that, you cannot beat the customer service you get when shopping local. It feels like a treasure of the community to visit here and we cannot be more appreciative for Margie and James creating this enjoyable experience we can look forward to. If you get overwhelmed at huge farmer's markets or grocery stores and are looking to start incorporating healthier options in your diet, you should definitely check out Great Meadow Farm.

Run, don’t walk! Best cookie of my life. Nicest people, delicious produce direct from their own farm (ask for a tour!), seasonal, and they also have tables and chairs if you want to hang out. What a treat. Total find.

Great Meadow Farm is a bucolic farm stand with delicious local vegetables, and excellent pastries. Everything looks and tastes fresh, and whether you're searching for a unique vegetable for dinner, to a French style fruit galette, or a wonderful chocolate chip cookie, I unreservedly recommend a visit to Great Meadow Farm on Saturday or Sunday for some conversation and flavor!

Such a special spot..besides the amazing array of organic veggies, they have they most delicious baked goods items that would give any top bakery a run for their money -huge chocolate chip cookies, pear galettes with almond filling, big chocolate chunk brownies, pumpkin muffins.. whatever's in season all made with top quality Ingredients. She also wraps them beautifully for gifts. Fun to take a beautiful ride through Redding (especially when the leaves are changing) to find this gem.
